Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

Gary Effen' Graham as the older brother!
so, Ninja vs. Pirate. Who wins?
Please note the movie was rated R!!!! This film would barely garner a PG13 now days.
Ugh! Tom Cruise – I can't watch anything he's in anymore. I just can't separate all the crazy from his on-screen persona.
Hate this movie. But not because of Tom Cruise. Because of my ex-gf who was in love with him and freaked out at his nude scene. Grrrrrr.
Craig T. Nelson, one of my all time favorites, is in this so the movie is somewhat redeemed by that fact.
I'm going with a Ninja…..
This was one of Cruise's best. I tried to watch it again recently and the teen-angst scenes were too corny. But everything else was pretty good. Gary Effin Graham indeed, forgot he was in it, brought a big grin to my face along with Craig T. Nelson.
I love this movie. My former editor grew up where they filmed this, and was allowed on the set. He told me Tom Cruise had legitimate football skills, and took some hits and gave them out, too.
Also, having played football at a very prominent program in Northeast Ohio, this film resonated with me, and is still required viewing at the start of a season.
Here is another thought about this movie. Along with "Red Dawn," this was one of the very first films of note for Rochester, Minnesota native Lea Thompson. Although nobody would ever vote her greatest actress of the 20th century, she was a pretty decent actress with some notable credits including the "Back to the Future" and "Caroline in the City" franchises. Having recently seen "All the Right Moves," I can attest to the fact that she was appropriately "hot" for the time frame in her scenes with Cruise. She is probably a liberal politically, but to her credit, I do not recall her acting like, oh say, Megan Fox. That, in and of itself, is a reason to like the movie.
I see the annointed one wants to be left alone on his vacation.
Funny, that's how I feel about him and his healthcare bulldozing: LEAVE ME ALONE!
I'll bet Michelle Obama is not too happy with her country now. Like we give a shit.
Yarrr!!! Pirate
Cheap bastard! Let's not give two shits……and a Tom Cruise, too.
According to the "Now Playing" marquee, 93% of Hollywood directors are middle-aged white males. To my surprise, they don't pound in the "racist-sexist-homophobic" meme.
@ Tennessee Jed (for some reason the reply option doesn't like me)…
Truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Thompson's got a little Megan Fox on the brain: http://www.threedonia.com/archives/5588 . Doesn't leave too bad a taste in my mouth, but still.
That said, totally dig her 80s/90s output and been watching All the Right Moves a lot lately as Fox Movie Channel has it in heavy rotation. Second year in a row I'm not heading back to PA for some football and does the trick as best as a movie can.
Freaked out in a drool pool or freaked out in horror?
I was looking at a group photo where Tom was in it. Every time I get to casting him as a little freak I run across a photo that reminds me that he is yummier than a hot fudge sundae. Hmmm… pardon the innuendo. OK back to ICK!
I'm not sure if Deadliest Warrior ever did that match up.
Ninja, by a mile.
Not when those middle-aged white male directors make films that make moral choices feel right.
i.e. mistress on the side, gay love, woman struggling for success/love/etc. Insert movie gimmick here.
Feelings. Not right and wrong.

Liberals have absolutely no common decency….
I got this in an email, not sure if I believe it was done by one person in 1/2 an hour, but its still impressive.
This resulted from a Mom in Alabama asking her high school son to help with a commercial for the Tea Party she was involved in organizing.
Boy, does it slam the message home. Very impressive. Here is her note:
"I asked Justin if he could help me make a commercial for my group's Tea Party. He sat down at the laptop for about an hour, and then brought this to me and asked, 'is this okay, Mom?'
After I finished watching it, my stomach was in my throat.
Everyone that I have sent it to has really enjoyed it, so I
wanted my friends to see it. I am so proud!"
A very powerful video…turn up the sound & sit back…!!!

I watched Tropic Thunder this past Saturday, Cruise was tolerable. Took my halfway through his scenes before I ever recognized him.
Really dumb movie. So dumb I thought it was pretty good. To Kirk Lazarus (Downey Jr.'s character) "What's my problem? You want to know what my problem is? You're the black guy in this movie, and I'm black!"
Oh man did I have a crush on her when I was in high school.
Decency is a liability in a war for political power.
And maybe someone can explain how it's legal to have an "interrogation unit" that answers directly to the White House.

No contest – Pirate. They don't have to follow rules.
Love Craig T. Nelson – always excellent.
Great post! Can we make it into a billboard?
LOL LOL LOL …..
Didn't much care for All the Right Moves, never watched it a 2nd time …
Two of Tom Cruise's all-time best films came very early in his long career:
Risky Business and The Color of Money — very well-done films, with some of his best acting.
Perhaps his performance in these two films was so convincing and sympathetic because he was playing
a very limited person with a lot to learn. Later, he preferred playing a 'Mr. Impressive' character, and he just elicits a sneer, scorn, contempt, etc — coming off like a shallow, over-compensating, insecure ego-maniac…
Anyone coming from a position of being driven to keep proving something is dealing from a position of weakness. Too bad for him.
TC was very good in Jerry Maquire. Impressively hilarious in Tropic Thunder.
Simple. Civil rights and following laws and rules and protocols are not part of the insatiable thirst for raw power.
The idea is to seize as much power as fast as possible, and gain enough there won't be anyone to ask questions like this. By the time they're finished, we'll all be powerless automons, slaving away, and giving all our labor to the all powerful liberal elite.
God help us. What's next?
Have seen this wonderful video already! Needs to be nationally broadcast! I'll donate to that cause.
Probably repeating myself, but O.T. and BH, in general are among my touchstones to sanity. Thanks to the powers that be.
Probably repeating myself, but O.T. . . . .
We fight back with protests, tsunamis of emails and petitions, hit the government so hard it shakes the foundations. Politicians are for the most part cowards. When they feel the heat, they'll start looking to protect their own asses first. Obama's desires for a socialist Utopia be damned.
big time
will they use enhanced techniques?
we we ever know?
Obama ‘Quite Comfortable’ As One-Term President, White House Spokesman Says
President Barack Obama is “quite comfortable” with the prospect of being a one-term president in order to address the issues he is concerned about, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Friday. The comment came on the same day the president’s approval reached a new low, with only a 45 percent approval rating in the Zogby International poll released Friday.

/One term too many in my and a couple of other oppinions
FTA\\
Hahahahaha
The comment came on the same day the president’s approval reached a new low, with only a 45 percent approval rating in the Zogby International poll released Friday. The poll said that 51 percent disapprove of the president’s job performance. The Real Clear Politics average of all polls puts the president approval rating at 52.2 percent.

/made my day ….52.2 % LOL
Just remember, according to Napolitano's description, we're all terrorists now….
What's O.T.?
Agreed, he was hilarious in Tropic Thunder. Stole every scene he was in.
Well it's good to see he's already accepted defeat in 2012. It would have been a shame for the nation to experience another "Jim Baker" like exit in tears and handcuffs.

Gotcha. Rush helps keep me sane. I work from home supporting networking devices around the world, so, except for meetings, I have the radio on all day.
I see you two shits and a Cruise, and I raise you a Biden.
I see your two shits and a Cruise, and I raise you a Biden.
I have another Comrade Obama joke:
What's the difference between Obama and the paranoid socialist dictator Hugo Chavez? Obama isn't paranoid … yet.
I'd like frame that headline and put it on the wall
next week it will be "Obama want's to only have one term" and we'll hear about the noble warrior and how he doesn't really want the power ala Washington. (barf)
I think the story of a white, 5'4" running back going on to college of a football scholarship is just so, so, so much a big pile of crap…
That said….give me "Rudy", that's a real story I can get behind and cheer for, and with…
What's the other difference between Obama and Chavez? Chavez is the short, fat guy.
It's like living with the Radio Free Europe mentality — can't believe this is our country.
Anyway, sure am thankful for all these resources & networks.
A real ninja or a Michael Dudikoff American Ninja? Yes, it matters.
We ought to start an office pool. I'd vote for "racists steal election."
What's the difference between Obama and Karl Marx.
Marx knew better that to take communism seriously.
What's the difference between Obama and Karl Marx?
Marx knew better that to take communism seriously.
HA! That story only works if the 5'4" running back is Barry Sanders.
He may be thinkin' one life-long term.
Guitar wailing ninja: http://www.realultimatepower.net/
lol
Barry Sanders (a great, great talent) TOWERS over Tiny Tom…T.T., he's down right Sarkozy like!
Then the answer is ninja…especially if said ninja has an abundance of throwing stars.
Lea also stars in the Jane Doe crime series on Hallmark Channel (if that series is still going).
Love the movies not the actor
We are all crazy a little, some just more than others
And you have to be nice to munchkins(TomCruise) for the sake of good Karma
/sarc
HBO is releasing a documentary called "By The People: The Election of Barrak Obama". It's set to air in November. Anyone else think they'd better release it sooner, before his approval ratings take a real nose-dive?
I agree, Nelson is a decent actor. He can do comedy, drama, and horror. Versatile.
It wasn't her acting abilities that caught my eye.
Remember this, we are not dealing with regular people here. We are dealing with people who have a religious affection for the state. Since the only moral found in government is not using it to crush people who oppose you, they have no moral guidance. One of the greatest Patron Saints is Saul Alinsky. They're following his "gospel."
Scratch that, Gospel is a bad analogy. They're folllowing "St. Saul's Letter to the Agitators."
He was, wasn't he? I watched it for the first time this past Saturday, and I'm still laughing. I loved it when he was cussing out the kidnappers, and they couldn't believe what they we're hearing. I half expected them to turn Tugman lose.
I think my favorite was near the end when Stiller said he would stay and guide these lost people, go fly off in the chopper, he was good. "I WAS WRONG! I WAS WRONG!"
Its a hard target to nail, stupid enough to funny, but not too stupid. Stiller's specialty. Dodge Ball is one of my all time favorites.
Okay, need work, but there is potential. Any offers at a re-write?
He actually played a strong safety in the film . He got a scholarship to Cal Poly, which is currently Division I FCS — not exactly Ohio State or USC.
But, I'm with ya … Rudy is awesome.
NO…he's clear now. He got rid of the Thetans a long time ago.
If you're ever in a grisly car accident, you'd better pray Tom Cruise comes by. Because ONLY HE will know how to help.
Gee, I don't subscribe to HBO, so I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on dvd.
Maybe it will ship with some nice bonus features…
Don't be too hard on the ex-girlfriend. I used to think he "had all the right moves" too, a long, long time ago. We were young and stupid. You live, you learn, you find out he us full of thetans.
Well, Tom I don't know if I can agree that he is "clear" now. May be a technicality or a question of semantics, but I get your point.
Wow, I watched that video and I think it supported my original contention. Lea is championing Altzheimer's charities and really doesn't bad mouth anybody in the video. She possibly was thrown a curve and caught off guard by a question appearing to criticize Obama's cutting deductions for charitable contributions and obviously did not wish to appear to be bad mouthing him or anybody else. Contrast that with Megan Fox wishing southern white NASCAR fans all die or whatever she said. Lea is from Minnesota so she almost has to be a Democrat, but I thought she was pretty classy in that video.
If you see my two shits, then tell them to come home. I need them for the new "Caca for Clunkers" program Prezzy O has lined up.
I had a crush on her when SHE was in high school…
I have to posit this: Tom Cruise (at least when I worked with him, some …25 yrs ago?) he was the hardest working actor I'd ever encountered. And…he was the nicest, most humble, respectful and generous dude around. His nutty dianetics beliefs aside…I can't imagine he would have changed all that much, mega-stardom notwithstanding. Tom's a good guy.
hey everybody — I am NOT hawking my book, "ACTING & Other Flying Lessons" (available on garygraham.com and Amazon)… okay, I guess i AM hawking it, lol….BUT…. for all who are interested…I have HUGE sections in the book all about the filming of this movie…Craig Nelson's craziness (and coolness) and Chris Penn's whacky escapades…and working with Cruise. And…. how i saved his life on the set. (REALLY??!!) ha ha ha ha…read it and see.
