DWTS is a long way from Washington D.C.’s world of politics, so we’re anxious to see just how well this Texas native can do the two-step!
One of the most influential Republican figures in the early 2000s, Tom DeLay rose through the ranks in the United States House of Representatives to become the Majority Leader of the Republican Party. His aggressive “Grow the Vote” method of party discipline, where he never lost a vote, earned him the nickname of “The Hammer” from the Washington Post.
The site is loaded with overwhelmingly angry comments from the entitled Left show’s fans making it clear the choice of Delay will cost ABC viewers:
- This is the most despicable, self centered man in the country.
- I will only start watching after he has been eliminated.

Hate is easy. Dancing is hard.
It's funny that they keep commenting about DeLay being a CRIMINAL… yet… DeLay was merely indicted by a clearly partisan prosecutor.. he has not been convicted…
However… Michael Irvin IS a criminal and he was announced for this season too. And last season Li'l Kim was a fan-favorite on the show and she was ALSO a convicted felon (They even made light of it on the show by having her dance to "Jail House Rock".

I think i'll root for kathy ireland and Donnie. In all seriousness, this is about the only b.s. reality show I watch. The professionals are great and sometimes the amateurs acually improve. As long as no one tries to pretend it actually is "a contest" it's good fun.

I seem to remember the Metropolitan area of Houston complaining that a lot of their pork was being siphoned away to outlying counties (namely Fort Bend – one of the largest growing counties in the US – i know this because Ive grown up here and have watched this area EXPLODE) – never mind that taxes in Houston were rising sky high and the Metro board kept trying to shove new stadiums down taxpayers' throats, so businesses and people were moving AWAY…Tom DeLay's main constituents lay in the Fort Bend County area and there has been until lately a HUGE conservative population. In fact, Sugarland has the STRONGEST and most active community of homeschoolers in the state. Lefties hated him because he was EFFECTIVE…and the Left cant STAND someone who beats their little asses at competence…(which really isnt hard to do, so again…the vitriol is astonishly misplaced)

To be honest, I never understood the appeal of her. Sure, she's reasonably cute, with a nice smile; she just doesn't cut it as a performer, however. My wife & I saw her in concert when she opened for Brad Paisley & Jewel. "Mediocre" is too interesting a word to use to describe her singing performance. It was all we could do to keep from falling asleep.
This clearly demonstrates liberal attitude towards those who do not agree with them. They truly believe people who are not liberals should be denied any access to the media, no matter how innocuous or neutral the exposure. Liberals control well over 90% of the entertainment industry and still they complain about too many conservatives on TV.

As far as I'm concerned, I think Tom DeLay should share the same prison cell with Nancy Pelosi. He simply proves that there is such as thing as a bad Republican as there is a bad Democrat. DeLay invaded the privacy of Terri Schaivo and her family, as to Pelosi invading our privacy, well, in general. I don't know which one is worse, but I think they both deserve to share a prison cell for their crimes against the American people. Oh, and I wouldn't be caught dead voting for a third party candidate. I vote on a person-by-person, issue-by-issue basis.

It is not always what you defend it is how you defend. You can not say with a straight face that he did not push the edges of working with Lobbyist on "contributions". You can not say that his methods did not contributed greatly to Democratic takeover of the house. Did he break laws? I am not sure. He earned the name Hammer from his own party not the Dems. His style as House Speaker politics is not that much different than Nancy Peolsi's. Different causes yes.

He won't make it past the season opener; the show is always a c-list pop culture popularity contest, won by whoever makes the most phone calls, and he scores the lowest, IMHO. Football players seem to do freakishly well, and the Osmonds continue to be beloved, so figure it to be a Michael Irvin/Donny Osmond/Melissa Joan Hart final group, although who knows, maybe Kelly Osbourne will last. It just seems…so undignified for him to do the show. I've enjoyed past seasons, but it is a cheese-fest deluxe.

It is NOT the job of congresscritters to loot the federal treasury (Uncle Ted Stevens- call your office) to benfit only their constituents. There is this little phrase in the oft ignored document called the Constitution "…promote the general welfare…" that you might want to read. DeLay played politics the way the Daleys do in the peoples republic of Chicago. Very Machiavellian, and if you are in a one party town you can get away with it. Even liberal legal experts thought the case Ronnie Earle brought against DeLay was thinner than paper. The reason it hasn't gone to trial is that the indictment served its purpose… hurting the GOP. Now that DeLay is out of office, apparently, they could care less about the case.
