Pageant RELEASES Topless Miss Universe Photos

In a first for any U.S.-based pageant organization, the Miss Universe Organization has taken the unusual step of releasing topless photos of its outgoing Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela, to Maxim for the magazine’s September issue.
As you may recall, the Miss Universe Organization (which owns and operates the Miss USA pageant) treated the “topless” photo of former Miss California Carrie Prejean’s somewhat differently:
In a statement given to the Associated Press, pageant spokesman Roger Neal explained that, “Prejean has run afoul of several sections of the 12-page contract that prospective contestants were required to sign before competing…The contract contains a clause asking participants whether they have conducted themselves ‘in accordance with the highest ethical and moral standards’ and if they’ve ever been photographed nude or partially nude.”
It is also worth noting that while Miss Prejean came under scrutiny for undergoing plastic surgery (here are some particularly vile thoughts on the subject from Keith Olbermann and company on his “Countdown” program), the current Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza, has apparently undergone plastic surgery as well.

On a lighter note, do you really buy that it’s “topless” if the women are covering themselves with their arms? It might not be “G” rated, but a distinction needs to be made…

Double standard here…period. Obviously Carrie's lack of support for gay marriage had nothing to do with anything (note sarcastic tone). Shame on Roger Neal and his organization…there's no excuse!

I hate to be the one saying this, as somebody who disdains the influence of pornography in our culture, and loathes it when ample… um… evidence…. is foisted upon me, without warning. But if you go to David Poland's site, and do a google search on Carrie Prejean, I can assure you, he has evidence that Prejean's topless photos were of the…how do I best say it…."nothing-left-to-the-imagination" kind.

Since the article itself actively points out, there's no hypocrisy here: She's not "topless," it's a Maxim shoot, so she's "covered." In fact, given the general state of the South American modeling scene, these are probably some of the more 'tasteful' shots she's done…
Prejean was, in fact, legitimately topless.

The woman who replaced Carrie Prejean as Miss California is also a person that is totally against gay marriage and has spoken out against it. So there is no need for sarcasm to your comment. Prejean was fired only after missing numerous commitments to appear at events.
Pretty much all around hypocritical and indefensible. Prejean was OBVIOUSLY taken down due to being honest and stating her opinion, which, last I checked, is an honorable thing to do, no matter what the opinion is.
Men will always enjoy a beautiful woman, no matter her political tendencies or lack of intelligence.
That's the double-standard.
As a conservative woman, I'll drop a hot guy the moment he espouses something stupid or unpatriotic, regardless of how hott he is!

I actually kinda like the Janeane Garofalo look. I think she is hot for an older woman, take away the ugly clothes she wears and the silly tattoos and she is a real looker.

Why did you post that photo on the front page of this article in the first place? I thought you wanted to avoid enticing people into searching for the photos, which you have now done to me. What was that name again?
Technically it's a topless shot. If her arms were 'on top' she might win the real "Miss Universe" title, but we terrans would find her a little strange.
As it is, her arms appear to be on the sides like they should be, ergo she is in fact "topless". She's covering the good stuff with her arms, but there's no top.
