It was forty years a go today when Senator Ted Kennedy killed a human being while drunk driving. And he was never prosecuted.

Sorry, bad link. Try this one.

From the Glenn Beck show a couple of days ago. Wow are we in corrupt times here in the US or what!
"Secretary Paulson runs the treasury. Secretary Paulson comes from Goldman Sachs. Secretary Paulson is saving all of these institutions, but Lehman Brothers, no, no, no, Lehman Brothers, that's got to fail. They gotta fail. Lehman Brothers, who was Lehman Brothers' biggest competitor? Oh, Goldman Sachs. Who is Goldman Sachs' biggest competitor? Oh, Lehman Brothers. Lehman Brothers, they can fail. The very next day AIG, they can't fail. AIG needs to be saved! So the former employee of Goldman Sachs, now secretary treasury Paulson decides to bail out AIG. Who is one of the first companies that get the money from the bailout from AIG? Who does AIG pay off, one of the first ones in line? Oh, my goodness, what a coincidence.
Goldman Sachs."
Continued*
"So AIG pays Goldman Sachs. Then the former Goldman Sachs employee, now treasury secretary Paulson says we've got to appoint somebody to really oversee and design this TARP thing; who could I get, who could I get, who could I you know what? I'm going to hire somebody from Goldman Sachs. He will design TARP. At the same time Goldman Sachs calls their former employee who is now designing TARP and their former employee who's now the treasury secretary and says, you know what, we should be a bank holding company. A bank holding company? What? Are you kidding me? In the coming months that will take GE almost two days to have that happen. What, are you crazy? Wal Mart's been trying for years! "Okay, we'll do it." So the two former employees from Goldman Sachs now allow Goldman Sachs to be a bank holding company. Well, why would they want to be a bank holding company? Well, now they can get even more funds from the government. They cannot only get the TARP funds but they can also get FDIC funds. Oh, and there's also this other little pesky thing. "
Continued*
The SEC, the SEC doesn't oversee bank holding companies. The Federal Reserve oversees a bank holding company as long as it's the Federal Reserve where what town is Goldman Sachs? Oh, New York? Yeah. So you'll be overseen by the Federal Reserve chairman of New York who, oh, my gosh, what a coincidence! He's on your board of directors! Oh, well, that's great because he will know all of the stuff and he will be able to see if there's any kind of wrongdoings going on.
I assume you where also going to post about CIT who loans money to small business, Paulson will not bail them out, why? Could it be that their biggest competitor is General Electric? Who received TARP two days after requesting it? GE did not meet the guidelines set forth in the TARP, but two days after hiring a lobbyist they received approval.
Can you say 'incestuous relationship'?

Throw them all out .com It is the only way to stop this corrupt power grab in DC. 2010 will be the host of one of the most important elections in U S history. A chance to correct the wrong to send a message so clear that even a blind man will see, We The People will not sit idle and let DC pervert and distort the Constitution of the United States. I know the average American feels helpless in that they could not possibly affect any change after all what can one vote really do. To this I say every ocean started with a drop of rain, one single drop. Not much to think of on it's own but like each individuals vote collectivly they form an ocean that can and will drown anything in it's way.If you have any love for this Country and are troubled with all that is taking place NOW is the time to stand up and be counted sitting on the side line and hoping for the best is NOT AN OPTION.Talk to all who will listen.
With Sec. of State Clinton's latest "We're Sorry!" in Mumbai, it appears that Uncle Sam has morphed into Johnny Ray!

Joelim,
Thanks so much for the Sound of Music link. Apparently, I'm a little culturally retarded and have never heard of this before. They're called Happenings or Flash Mobs. But I enjoyed it SO much, I have spent the morning looking into it and watching others.
You have an awesome day too!
Everyone needs to work like their life depends on it because it most certainly dose. No matter how bad you may think this country can be you could be in Russia with the mess they are or how about China or maybe Cuba I know how about Venezuela something tells me a normal person will chose the U S A . I can assure you that America is the greatest country that has ever existed period. Freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Are you willing to give up all these things or to have them ripped from your hands. All you need to do is nothing and you will get exactly that. Educate yourself trust that feeling you get in your gut you know that bad feeling that grips at the center of your body that warns you that something is wrong it's a gift use it trust it and act on it. Don't be the woulda coulda shoulda person if you don't stand up and fight for your Country one day you will wake up and it will be just a memory. Act while you still can.
Already waist deep in the action, Patriot, Old Son! Chicagoans ( my neighbors) are Patriots. In my neighborhood ( south side) there is barely a tree without a yellow ribbon.
You are on the money. Americans can be fooled and cheated – only for a while. By 2010, you will see a swing in this country that Ted Williams would have envied.
Good one, but the one I gave is a little more stirring.
On a somewhat related note, I would like to see as many folks as possible, read this article published yesterday at Big Hollywood by Michael Mandaville. A wonderful piece of writing. Take a moment to write a comment and let him know how you feel. Pass it on, share it with others. Sometimes, it's the little things in life…

Do you know? Once you get into it, it becomes more and more obvious that it is no longer a monolithic Democrat juggernaut.
We, as a nation, are more comprised of individualists than has been reported. The Democrat party, for the most part, despises that. The Republican party, for the most part, celebrates that. The elected elites and pundits, right or left, don't get that about the American People.
It is just a thought.
Kit, do you have a link for the transcript? I'd like to read the whole thing and maybe even post it on my Facebook. Thanks.
So many weighty thought, and I was just going to wonder when someone was going to make a sitcom about the spoiled liberal who holds all the usual anti-flyover country prejudices and stereotypes near and dear who somehow gets exiled out here and has to live in *gasp* small-town 'Merica with all us Rednecks. Set her against a town of decent normal people. Hyjinks ensue.
Hey, that doesn't sound bad for a sitcom. J Garofalo is available.
I get an email news letter from the Beck show Ali and you have to be a member to get them but I C&Pd it to my forum if you want to get the entire thing there.
here is the link

btw, signing up for the news letter is free but you wont get past ones.
Wasn't that "The Goode Family?" It flopped.
Thanks, Kit. Big, big help.
???
Excuse me, I may have missed the recent news, but I thought yellow ribbons around trees were "Support the troops" and not for Tea Party-like protesting. Since you are in Chicago, are you sure that is not leftover police barrier tape?
I liked the "Freeze-frame" flash mob in Grand Central Station. Somebody blew the whistle and about five hundred people froze in position for about five minutes.

There's more but the site isn't letting me post anymore without someone approving it. *
I caught part of the show, was it Paulson who still buys stock (50k shares) and has made three million dollars after taking his current post?
I like the one where they all take off their pants. Can you imagine being a by-stander and wondering what the heck is going on? Too funny!
FYI Yellow ribbons not only show support for our Troops they also put on public display ones Patriotism. In a country that has far to much BASH AMERICA for any cause any display of Pro America is like water in the Desert . If this is a problem with you there are a host of countries where you can relocate.
I'm just not a big fan of scenes from TV shows/ movies set to unrelated music. I generally find them very contrived and cheesy.
"There's more but the site isn't letting me post anymore without someone approving it."
Don't forget the gratuitous flyby with AIr Force One acknowledging the oligarchy that put you in power.
Somewhat OT wrt "the Goode Family," more than 40 years ago, the Beverly Hillbillies drew 60 million viewers at it's height, with 100 million fewer viewers. Movies were routinely created to appeal to young/old, men and women. It was not perhaps high art or extremely "edgy" (translation: shock for shock's sake) but kept people happy, entertained, and provided social glue and a common culture.
I don't think it's a good thing that men have abandoned the feminized landscape of TV (and much movies) for video games, which are a mostly male ghetto, and TV/Movies are the reverse. Loss of a common, middle brow culture and the glue it provided (stating "the rules" on how people acted) accounts for much of the coarseness in our culture.
The things that are taking place in this country such as the bail out of the biggest financial institutes the support of organizations such as Acorn and Ilk a Supreme Court nominee that has made repeated incendiary and in my opinion racist statements the appointment to the U S treasury department of not one but a hole host of the same criminals that perpetrated the financial melt down of Wall Street to the National Treasury department and no body in the Congress or The Senate no Republican , Democrat or Independent save one Ron Paul has got the interest of WE The People at hart. " No audit it would collapse the Federal Reserve bank " don't investigate that it would shine some light on my buddies and what ever you do don't ask for a Congressional Hearing it might get queen Nancy in an eye twitching frenzy. Throw Them All Out Now !!!
Someone had asked yesterday why there was no article featuring Walter Cronkite.
Here is the reason.

One of my favorite bumper stickers. "Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my GUN!"
Anyone want to lay odds that Keith Olbermann will end his show monday with the line "And that's the way it is"?
Hehehehe. Yeah, but who wants to listen to all that drivel for six words?
I saw Stoning of Soraya M today, another reason to love the peaceful religion of Islam.
I have a tragic confession. I have sneered at "Mama Mia" in all its forms, what with the skeevy premise (which dude knocked up my mom, ABBA, etc.) and DRAT! I watched the movie on HBO this weekend and found it charming and hilarious, and I give Meryl Streep amazing props for pulling off the singing and dancing so whole heartedly. Curses, she just sold me a ticket for "Julie & Julia."
What'd you think? Out of curiosity, how many people were in your screening?
That's a sucker bet, and ya know it, bub!
Kit, check out this link from Matt Taibbi's blog site – Max Keiser in London screaming 'Goldman Sachs are Scum!'
http://trueslant.com/matttaibbi/
For you Goldman Sachs haters – of which I am truly one – check out this awesome article by Rolling Stone financial editor, Matt Taibbi. Taibbi's opinion of GS? "The world's most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money." (Man, I wish I could have written that line!)
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/291273...
Mmmm, not quite the way I had it envisioned. I'm thinking more along the lines of my mom's hometown which is a little bump on the map. The place was nearly wiped out by a tornado and Extreme Home Makeover did an episode there as a result – Chapman, KS. There are plenty of stories and funny things that happen in a small farming community that don't involve the usual stereotypes and some that do that can do alongside Miss Lib.
I had to drive 20 odd miles to the one theater in the Tampa area which was showing it.
The theater was half full, the movie itself was good the time went quickly. It's in Iranian mostly with sub titles but the plot simple enough so the sub titles weren't a problem.
The story wasn't a very happy one, the ending quite graphic.
I would not expect a Disney version anytime soon. Well worth the price though out of the ordinary.
Me, too!
Unlike stage version of the weird story, the movie is entertaining and campy fun!
If this is a problem with you there are a host of countries where you can relocate.
Heh, hardly. But I would rather reserve the ribbons for the troops and show patriotism with The Flag, two separate yet related messages displayed simultaneously and distinct. I do not see a need to covertly hide my patriotism with something that not enough recognize as for the troops and may dismiss as "Support the troops but not the mission."
Now, if there was a symbol I could display that would show my patriotism without showing support for, and even opposition to, the Occupant in Chief, although preferably one that does not invite rock throwing, I would be interested in knowing about it.
