Funniest Jim Carrey movie.
Best Jim Carrey movie was The Truman Show. It's premise is the ultimate reality show in a totally fake enviroment.
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is also very good. The scene where he is exiting the fake rino and people think it is giving birth is hilarious.
Did you see him in The Mask? The guys doing the CGI for his face said, "Why do you need us? He already can do it himsel." I am para-phrasing.
Loved the Ace Ventura movies. The rhino scene is great revolting physical comedy.
Nowadays, it seems like Carrey is too cool to be doing stuff like that, which is sorta sad being that he was so good at it.
I loved both movies, but my favorite Jim Carrey movie has to be Cable Guy. When he and Matthew Broderick "went at it for a while" in Medievil Times is hilarious….

WTF is wrong with this country??? Why is this group allowed to exist here???
Funny movie, IMO Carrey’s best. I liked him in “Dumb & Dumber” as well.
It actually took me a couple viewing s to appreciate Cable Guy. I was expecting another Ace Ventura but Carrey went off the reservation as Chip Douglas. He was simultaneously creepy and hilarious, and I'm sorry, but if one of my friends got me a really hot chick for my birthday I'd be high-fiving him….
I bought Dumb and Dumber years ago, and every now and then I'll throw it in the DVD player and it still cracks me up.
"So this is Colorado…." " Yeah that John Denver was full of sh!t man…."

Carrey has more talent than Hollywood allows him to show. He's especially good in non-comedic roles. Like Michael Keaton (The first "Batman") he brings a comic's dark side to a role. I'd like to see him given the opportunity to do some of the roles that go to DiCaprio or Damon.
Off subject: Did anyone else see the latest Harry Potter film yet and in spite of good reviews found it so boring as to consider walking out in the middle of the film? I thought it was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. The writing was abysmal, Radcliffe and his two cohorts were great as children but have absolutely no charisma as adults. Draco was interesting and better than the three main characters. As always, Alan Rickman commands the screen but there wasn't enough of him.
As much as I liked AV:PD, and Truman Show… Bruce Almighty will always be his best comedy (Bruce knocks Ace Ventura outta the park!)
Although I REALLY appreciated how good he was as an overall actor after watching "Eternal Sunshine"… that one had me hooked
I totally agree with you regarding Michael Keaton. Talk about a guy that can do it all and do it well. Hysterical in Mr. Mom and Multiplicity. Scary in Pacific Heights (man did I want to shoot him….). and very serious and believable in so many many other movies like Clean and Sober and My Life. Can't get enough of that guy.
As for Carrey getting roles meant for Damon and DiCaprio, it's just too hard to take him seriously sometimes. I watched The Number 23, and while he was pretty good, I kept waiting for him to spin around, bend over and say, "May I ass you a question…."
It's all in the name of tolerance. If this was a christian group, the wouldn't be allowed so much as a PO box.

Mr. Rodriguez, we may not always agree on our stances/beliefs, can I say welcome to the side of the political spectrum where we do believe in the workers of this country.
I second that, too bad it takes a mess like that to wake people up.
Sickening, thanks Scorpio.
Agree on Keaton! Good actor!
Just unbelievable that this is happening after everything we know about how radical isam recruits it's members….
Agree on Keaton! Good actor! Great range!
Sorry for sickening you….
You know if Christians tried this crap in the Middle East the hotel would get bombed, hell, look at Indonesia, they don't even need a reason….
Indeed anyone who can pull of Beetlejuice and Clean and Sober in the same calendar year has some chops. 'course anyone who saw his "Prostitution" monologue right out of the gate in Night Shift knew the talent was there.
Re. Carrey, always thought the Ace Ventura movies were overrated. Silly fun, sure, but still overrated in my book. Gimme Liar Liar and Eternal Sunshine… for his two sides. Nope, don't need his butt cheeks as a side.
The stupidity of the left wing peaceniks is monumental.
My daughter loved "sunshine" when she was in college. I didn't get it. They moved timeline and camera around so much I was dizzy.
I think Carrey was REALLY funniest on In Living Color.
Finally!!! A movie I know and have seen!!!
blujay, but did you LIKE it?
It will be the cause of another 9/11
Yea… I especailly liked the part (I think I am getting the right Ace Ventura movie here) when he outed the cross dressing detective…
I watched both of them and enjoyed them… but it's been a long time since I have seen them…. I like Jim Carrey in most of his films, I think my favorite though is The Majestic.
Don't forget Keaton's role in Gung Ho… absolutely brilliant playing 3 roles in the same character …
If i were rating Carrey's movies (in terms of my favorites)
Liar, Liar
1) Bruce Almighty
2) Truman Show
3) Eternal Sunshine
4) The Mask
5) Man on the Moon (his one that is truly underappreciated)
6) Cable Guy
7) Lemony Snicket's… (played an absolutely evil character, but hilarious at the same time)
9) The Number 23
10) The Majestic (yes, even though it had a liberal bent to it)
Wow… Ace didn't even make my top 10??? (i figured I'd have gotten it in there at some point… )
Ace Ventura Is one of my all time favorite situated between Casablanca and Star Wars.
Gung Ho was under-rated, loved that one.
1) Cable Guy
2) Dumb and Dumber
3) Pet Detecive
4) Liar Liar
5) The Number 23
The rest can just be jumbled together in no discernable order…..

I forgot that he was in Eternal Sunshine. ChrisD, to get it, I had to see it a couple of times. One of the things to remember is that they are erasing memories in Jim Carrey's mind. Painful as well as good memories. The camera work and the jumping of timelines was intentional. It created in me a feeling of no traction.
I lost my popcorn laughing so hard at that scene!
You're talking about the very first Star Wars movie in 1977, A New Hope, right?
Mr Rodriquez changed when he found out that the people he mistakenly supported wouldn't help him and his friends. I believe the way he put it, at the time, it was the thing to do.
How many times do we as a people blindly support someone who doesn't deserve it? I am talking as a Republicrat or a Demican. I supported McCain, but did he really deserve my support? What I am getting at is even if Obama doesn't get what he wants, sooner or later, someone else will come around to push us into the same situation we are in right now.
The elections in 2010 are important. Hopefully, it will change the makeup of Congress dramatically. But it doesn't stop there. We, as a people, must come to the realization is that Government, any government is a foul beast at best and an embodiment of evil when at it's worse.
I kind of liked Dumb and dumber myself but The Truman show had a premise that was hard to beat.
I first started watching Jim Carrey when he was on "In Living Color" back in the 90s, the faces that guy can make is comedy in itself.
Excellent choice of movies to discuss. My own personal barometer of comedic genius is how many quotable quotes are in a movie. This is definitely in my top five. Can you say… "Do NOT go in there, Whoooooo!" and a plethora of others. Love it. Also thought Liar Liar was one of his better roles as well. Looked as if he took the opportunity for serious as well as humor. Those were real tears at the end of LL.
Another Carrey movie worth seeing is "The Majestic", although part of that movie is Hollywood still whining about the blacklist.
My fave Carrey movie is "The Mask". Ssssmokin'. Not only is he in it, but a lot of the Mask animations is based on the old Warner Bros. cartoons by Tex Avery (e.g., the wolf animation in the Coco Bongo).
Come on, everyone knows Empire was the best one.
Coincidence the Islamic conference is being held in the wonderful city of Chicago???
Hells yeah!!!
From the article:
Oren Segal, director of Islamic Affairs for the Anti-Defamation League, said the conference is cause for concern.
"While they're not, for the most part, engaging in violent activities, and they publicly say that they're against violence, there have been examples around the world where people who have spun off of this group have engaged in violent activity," Segal told FOXNews.com. "That's why they're banned in several Arab and Central Asian countries, as well as Germany and Russia."
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is one of the group's most famous alumni, New Statesman journalist Shiv Malik reported, citing intelligence sources. In addition to plotting the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, he also is implicated in the World Trade Center bombing of 1993, the Bali nightclub bombings and the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
Political correctness is so strong that something like this is allowed to happen.
We need to be vigilant with this death cult disguised as a religion. This story sickens me.

This protest has been happening for over a month. I think there is a real revolution going on in Iran.
There is a very funny "guest editorial" from Sotomayor over on Iowahawk's website for those that are interested.
This story today is yet another reminder of why it's important for our country to stand in solidarity with those who are willing to stand up in the name of freedom.
Dana Carvey at his best, and he nails it with Obama.

Please take a few minutes today everyone and forward this story to all your reps,
I sent this to my congressman and asked him to please tell me this is a joke!
.
Oh yeah, saw the Mask too many times to even count. Great movie.
Oh yeah great scenes in Cable Guy. Also had Jack Black who I liked more back then than now.
I love that movie when I just need a goofy laugh. I especially love the part when Jeff Daniel's character, (can't remember his name) seeing that Carrey's character has worn several pairs of gloves when he has none – starts to choke Lloyd Christmas and Lloyd says "Your hands are freeezzzzing". I swear, that cracks me up every time.
One Jim Carrey movie I could not tolerate. Me, Myself and Irene. I found it totally unwatchable.
So many funny scenes. I won't even get into the Turbo-Lax scene…..
I can only take Jack Black in small doses. He's too annoying. But I will say that he was great in Tropic Thunder.
Any Jim Carey movie is HILARIOUS!!!! this movie rates as well……
I haven't a clue what the hell say it aint so JOE was saying here….
http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.asp...
That's exactly the way I look at comedies. If I can get more than 5 quotes, it's a keeper….
"If I'm not back in 5 minutes….just wait longer!….."
Especially when they chant against the Death to America crowd.
I just got back from another Tea Party today, it is the 17th of July hassle your representatives.
The only one in recent years is "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou" Great one liners. "He's a Suitor" …
We thought you was a toad. Nah they never did turn me into a toad!!!
Love. It.
I just heard that Senator Lugar has decided to vote 'yea' for seating Sotomayor on the Supreme Court. He has always struck me as a narcissistic, and unprincipled imbecile and today he has proven himself just that. I hope that some Republican will challenge him the next time he comes up for election. He is a load on the party and should be dumped.
Carvey knocks Obama and gives a plug to GWB, but is so sly about it that the audience probably doesn't really get it. They laugh at the "GWB" line about a tax cut, but the "joke" is that Bush saves the patient and BHO doesn't. (Follow the link above to the video posted on HuffPo to see it.)
Several summers ago, I worked at a camp and among a group of about three or four of us guys, we could probably play out Dumb and Dumber, scene by scene from memory. A couple of months ago, I got a text from one of those guys while having a layover in Denver: "I kinda thought the Rocky Mountains would be a little rockier than this…" That movie is infinitely quotable.
That scene is great for the beat they hold on them driving for a few seconds after Carrey's line, then the next thing you see is Jeff Daniel's bum crack as he's sitting in a field pissed off. I'm laughing just thinking about it.
It'd be a shame if something "untoward" happened while the recruitment- I mean, the conference was going on.
I agree. Voting to confirm her is a mistake. Lugar should have known that. All the Republicans should know that. The liberals SHOULD know it too, but they're crazy with identity politics and, well, just the garden-varieties of crazy.
"Nice hooters…."
That's ok, neither does he…
Did you see the people in the background they where like what the hell is he talking about!!!
Only in America…..
Thank God we still have a two-party system. If it weren't for legislative gridlock, this country would have already gone down the s__tter decades ago.
LEMME SHOW YA SOMETHIN'!
I still quote The Mask to this day. To me, it was his funniest movie.
I did. Haven't had any response yet from my representative
"Samsonite! I was way off…."
Open Thread, new topic.
My representative Phil Roe, R. Tennessee, had very kindly included me in on his townhall teleconference yesterday. The Subject was Cap and Trade bill. He voted against it. And was seeking questions from us.
I found that I couldn't talk because the discussion was not about opposing it. Just it's effects.
I sent him an email.
I said that Cap and Trade are based on two false assumptions.
Assumption one. CO2 is a pollutant. Assumption two. Global warming is happening.
CO2 is necessary for us to breathe. If we don't have enough CO2 in our bodies, we hyperventilate. CO2 is used by plants during photosynthesis. It creates OXYGEN.
Global warming has been proven time and again to be a scam by Al Gore and friends.
I said that this bill should have been thrown out of hand just because of these two reasons.
"You can't triple stamp a double stamp Lloyd!!!'
Don't hold your breath….
I would have started yelling on the phone. Which would have made me feel better, it wouldn't have furthered the discussion.
The immediate computerized response happens in ten minutes. His actual response takes about a week.
Newsbusters is doing great work. This is a hispanic/latina whatever you want to call her, making the asinine statement of the week.

I went to see The Cable Guy with friends and I was the only one who came away having enjoyed it. I still think it's very underrated. (You gotta love the Amok Time parody).
1994 really was the Year of Carrey with Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber coming out in the same year. I had totally forgotten that, plus Batman Forever the year after. I was 11 years old. I remember seeing Ace with my dad and liking it. It has one of my favorite character names (Mr. Shickadance, the landlord). I haven't seen The Mask or Dumb and Dumber in years but I remember enjoying both of them (and this from someone who thinks the Farrelly's are a tad overrated).
Just read the story and watched the clip. None of this surprises me anymore. It's going to take (not holding my breath) other liberals speaking out against wild statements such as the one made by Chatty Cathy.
I wonder if she's a member of The National Council of The Race?

Don't forget Keaton's role in Gung Ho… and then there was Multiplicity… absolutely brilliant playing 3+ characters in the same movie

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
Winston Churchill
"totally fake enviroment" you mean like Hollywood or Washington D.C.?
What a surprise. An islamofascist group in Chicago of all places.
Coincidence, I think not.
One of the funniest SNL moments for me was Carrey's "I'll see you in hell" sketch.
What a surprise. An islamofascist group in Chicago of all places.

I hope her first tweet is a request for Zero's birth certificate.
This movie still ranks as one of the funniest I've ever seen. The scene where Ace is opening up the door to his apartment, and the landlord comes up behind him and says "Ventura!" And Ace says "Yes Satan?" He then turns and sees the Landlord and says "Oh, I'm sorry, you sounded like somebody else."
Classic.
The summer of 1994 – everyone and their brother was saying, "Aaallllrighty then!!!" and "Smokinnn!!!"
Elsewhere on this site, there's a thread where I lament the lack of memorable quotes in comedies today.
Best ever performance of "Somebody to Love."
The earth's temperature fluctuates over periods of time (the Medieval Warm Period, the Little Ice Age in recorded history), largely due to the fluctuations of the big yellow ball in the sky (sun spot activity, solar flares).
Mankind's very first despots were charlatan priest-kings who claimed that they could control the big yellow ball in the sky.
We've come a long way…
