Not that anyone here cares (I find myself less interested year after year) but the Emmy nominations were announced this morning. Expanded categories and still no acting nominations for Battlestar Galactica. Only one technical nomination for Fringe. Only three technical nominations for True Blood. And Family Guy for best comedy series? Really?! :-(

On the plus side, Taking Chance got a bunch of nominations including one for Kevin Bacon, Pushing Daisies (R.I.P.) got a well-deserved nom for costume design, and Michael Emerson was nominated for his role as Ben on Lost.

And I'm a fan of 30 Rock but some of its nominations were just gratuitous. Jennifer Aniston for best guest actress? Really!?

I actually went backwards, started watching season 1 last year, then found the books (yay eBay) and leapfrogged back and forth. The books aren't exactly heavy lifting, so it really wasn't jarring. The show captures the mood quite well, imho. The acting started of very wobbly and they still haven't fixed those accents, but as long as a fan of the books accepts going in that there will be changes (Tara & Lafayette being the biggest--very minor in the books, expanded and well portrayed onscreen) the show's a lot of fun.

Very cool. 'Into the Ocean' is one of my favorites. Like you, it stirs me. When I listen to his music, I can feel the salt air breezes off on Old Cape Cod.

I have a few other favorite pieces of music I'll post from time to time. Where would we be without music?
