Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

I love this movie. The fight scene with the Ducky Boys on the football field is great.
If I recall, the dent was actually where the bullet pierced the vest. It didn't hit the iPod itself; only dented it from the other side of his armor. (Apologies for improper terminology.)
Still good advertising.
ok, but still. The thing has delicate parts inside and they still work.
According to Rasmussen this morning, president mcspendypants hit a new low on his approval index – negative 3!
HAH!
Perhaps some of the demented 52 are waking up.
I hope everyone had a good/great 4th of July weekend…
Lets hope so… especially since this administration is seething with hypocrisy…
Man, was it a plastic case or the aluminum case… makes me want to carry an ipod in my pocket at all times…
I always thought it would be cool to work for the CIA or NASA or some other government agency spying on the "enemy" with satellites.. Sometimes I think about getting my M.Sc. in Intellegence… Good luck for getting into the study.
Another movie I've never even heard of. I'd probably watch this one though, I mean lecherous guys who could resist.
The forthcoming feature film, The DeMille Conspiracy will shed light on the Codex Sinaiticus and the secret memoirs of legendary director Cecil B. DeMille.
The book is much better but this is still a good movie to watch. Wayne Knight who is "Newman" from Seinfeld is a uncredited gang member. That would be ten years or more before he was on the show.
I have so far– gotten 5 things done this a.m. —but I am haunted by the fact that I cannot even mute the TV lest I see one minute of the "will not say name" funeral.
Are these the people who turned out to the polls last November? Just a theory.
Don't know if anybody's been over to Dave Burdge's website (Iowahawk under links) but he's got some pretty funny stuff up right now.

I love the term President McSpendypants–may I steal that?
a definite upgrade from Mr. Hope and McChangypants… (oh, btw, another in our group came up with that one)
Ah, yet another movie that was watched on cable as a kid. Love the big gang brawl at the end with all the opposing ethnic gangs joining together to face off against the real killers that showed up.
But I'm more of a "Warriors" fan.
"Can you Diggit!"
Okay, so Sanford is getting a slap on the wrist and the heat he's taking from fellow Repubs backs off of actually pushing the "stepping down" thing. So the disgraced former 2012 hopeful IS going to stay out his 1.5 remaining years as govenor. ____Meanwhile, Sarah the Diva gets to go bask in her waves of popularity, not to be bothered by all of that pesky work of governing.
K8blujay! You are still in college? Go for it! Study languages and history as well. Not that I've ever worked for the CIA but when I was in college I really considered it seriously. I went law enforcement instead. Now I'm acting. Go figure!
The prayers are wooooorkiiiiiing! (she said in a sing songy voice) America, the slumbering Giant, may just be stirring.
Warriors? cmon what about the the Outsiders?….. the warriors, wow does that bring back memories!
No, not at the moment… I just graduated with my B.Sc last year… I'm out in the work force for now… But I would like to go back in the next year or two… Penn State has a great distance learning graduate program… But I love remote sensing and interpreting arials and satellite imagery…. have since I took my Remote Sensing courses for my degree.
I had a great 4th. My offspring and I spent 4 hours on the line next to a very busy street holding signs, smiling, waving at on coming cars, and cheering at the honks and waves and smiles we all received back. (A few jeers or people just refusing to make eye contact but that's okay!) I rigged an umbrella with scripture tea bags that I held against the sun and the heat. (I was also keeping a wary eye out for surveillance but didn't really see anything. Just some nut holding up a mini digital camera as the car he was in streamed by.) A city police officer drove by and furtively honked a waved. They are supposed to remain a-politcal, you know. It was a tremendous day! May momentum build!
YES! The same twits! Pop culture trumps common sense apparently. Forget the fact that he was a pediphile. Forget the fact he essentially paid the family off so they'd pull themselves as witnesses against this hermaphrodite. He's black! Let's worship him regardless! Sounds eerily familiar….not that O is a pediphile…but wait! He is raping our children's futures…ergo and to wit….
War-ri-ors! Come out and Playy-ee-ayyy!
I never saw this movie….but I do like the song "The wanderer" As someone who really loves movies, I think I've lead a cloistered life. We mainly watched Danny Kaye, Abbot and Costello, Marx Bros movies when I was a kid. I did see Rebel Without a Cause and I think I need to see it again. Maybe I should have a 50's early 60's movie marathon. Get myself enlightened.
Its all so unfair!
Didn't you like SP in her waders this morning?
Oh you should meet my daughter! You could be twins! I enjoyed that stuff as well. What is your degree in?
That movie poster was the best…. I remember seeing that like 5 times in ine day at the cineplex by my house….
Geography with an emphasis on Climate/Meteorology and GIS/Remote Sensing…. with a Geog degree there are so many options..
another of the gems in my personal collection.
Y'know, I know he was freak show, but I still got a little choked up when I saw the casket. He was an incredible artist, and it's sad. His legacy will be forever tainted, but his music will survive.
And while I'm probably annoying a few people on this site, I may as well continue in that vein by saying David Letterman's Top 10 featuring an in-studio animated Optimus Prime was pretty damn funny.

Ooooo you are well trained! Good onya! My daughter's got two B. Sc. in Asia Studies (china) with History minor, and Linguistics with a minor that never played out for her but she knows 4 languages and is very detail oriented. You two would make quite a team were you ever to work for the same agency.
Did I like her in those waders this morning?!
YOU BETCHYA!
Proving my theory "not so perfect"!
Michael Jackson is dead and all you people can do is post????
A fun film, and it holds up better than expected. Anything with the glorious Karen Allen is worth watching, and where else can you find the Kennedy assassination, great doo-wop music, Bob Dylan, terrific fights and supernatural gangs of tiny, mutant Irishmen? It isn't as good as The Warriors, but "Leave da kid ALONE" was a watchword in my neighborhood for years after this came out.
Hate to bring it up …..
Those negative numbers are brwnie points for the libs
They blame it on all of us racist islamaphobes

I'm sorry…I don't follow you.
…aaand there's Al Sharpton. The memorial was fairly dignified unti now. Time to wash the kitchen.

GIS is the future. good for you.
oh, not a fan, that's all…referring to my original post ( guess everyone likes MJ….(smile) )
I'm posting thru ma tears, man! ;^)
I gotcha! ;-D It's a shame (for those of us that care), but every moment of genuine emotion is quickly smothered under layers of self-serving cheese.
Yeah it's pretty amazing to me how many people use it everyday and don't even know it… *lol*
Does that make us racist ?
Wasn't MJ white??
I love McSpendypants, too — LOL!
Oh, I hope so!
Pray it with me!! The country wanted change, it's about to see change in a real, glorious way.
I'm not sure what it was.
I'm trying to sooth my grief by reading pithy comments and watching the People's Court. (that title sounds strangely socialistic, doesn't it?) Ah, alas! Poor Michael. I knew it not. and frankly, my dear, I'm glad I didn't. I might have watched his funeral from behind bars.
I'm with you — and have been for a long time.
I just found out another friend of mine is in the Armed Forces. I have a cousin in the Navy, a co-worker from my first real high school job (Target) in the Army, and now a girl from FSU (I only spent one year there) in the Navy, too. And a friend from film school has a friend who was in the Marines. He even showed me his iPod with a dent in it – "That's where the bullet hit!" he told me.
I'm proud of these guys. As for me, I'm trying to get into the NASA bed rest study; the objective is to develop countermeasures against the physical effects of long-term spaceflight. I know it's not the Army or the Navy but it's my chance to contribute to a greater cause and I've always been an amateur space buff (and Star Trek geek). Like the Three Stooges said in one of their early shorts, "For duty and humanity!"

an Ipod survived a bullet hit? Now that is advertising.
Ha! We've probably been going at it for the same length of time. Nice to know we're not alone, eh?
I forgot about this gem. One of my first rentals from the early 80s video store. ($100 membership!) Ken Wahl. Linda Manz. Karen Allen. You just can't go too wrong.
But, for my money, its a bit like watching a pot boil…
Wanderers, Warriors, Outsiders, I saw them all in the theatre. That was like, 30 years ago! Wft happened? Where is my youth? Where is my hair?

I remember the last time the slumbering giant started to stir.It was a change that the Nation of Japan did not count on.With that said I want to say that out of the ashes arouse a new America. An America that was stronger and better. To all the cry baby, cheating, liars in the congress the senate and the Obama White house We The People are coming to take back The Peoples White House soon ,real soon.
Very. There are a lot of us.
Since MJ died 20 soldiers have died in the war This is truly sad.Not a Man albeit a very talented man but a man all the same.A flawed, ill, and delusional man.Who contributed a great deal to his own demise.his is not sad this is a good thing for MJ.I hope he finds the peace and happiness in death that had eluded him in life.God bless the Men and Wemon of the US services for they are the true icons and heros of the USA and may God have mercy on MJ soul.

Sarah Palin threw herself on the sword for AK and for the USA and all people can do is wonder WHY?
Because she's Wonder woman, boys. Did you notice while you all were Immortalizing a particular and disturbing Peter Pan type that may have accidentally (or not) died, our "transparent" government is was blacked out by the glitter of Hollywood?
