Happy Fourth everyone!
I've got a feeling the next 4th of July is going to be quite different. More contumacy, less celebration.
Happy Independence Day everyone.
Keep up the fight, Big Hollywood!
On Independence Day, I thought I would merely post my appreciation to the folks at BH for doing what they do as well as offer my best wishes to all who have served their country in the military both past and present. It is easy for folks, particularly over the last 25 years to take what we have in this country for granted. God bless to all!
Everyone have a great 4th Celebration and be safe. !
We should take notice of the Hondurans and follow suit today !
It is what happened 233 years ago today !
History always repeats itself !
Lets Roll !
Please remember the troops today and show appreciation for them and the Citizens soldiers who made this Nation.
O.T. ?
I need help with ideas for my next Survivor audition tape .
Happy Independence Day to everyone at Big Hollywood. Please attend the TEA Party in your area if there is one (but do be careful of who is sponsoring it, there are some extremists out there that you probably don't want to be associated with). I urge all of you to use the Independence day to stand up for your individual and our collective freedom, by thought, word and deed. God Bless America!
Happy Independence Day!
Happy 4th!
Very happy day.
Only thing is we had something odd happen recently. Some idiots at an image board e-shuushuu.net said they thought it was freedom of speech to role play sex public with 16 year olds in front of 13 year olds. It's detailed here.

Other than that we're enjoying our 4th. As bad as it is with Obama, he destroyed everything yet.

We gotta take a stand
When I think about the recent theft of the U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota by that New Jersey law firm, I am reminded of a lawyer who used to practice in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma lawyer would boast among intimates that he could win any case; and he could win any case. He did it by appealing to the State Supreme Court and when he argued his case he would quote a legal precedent. When the Supreme Court Jurist went to the library and look up that precedent in the law book, the jurist would find an envelope filled with cash.
I hear Sarah Palin is gonna get a show on Fox News !
WoooHooo !
I read it at HuffHo
So it must be true

Sorry

I'm annoyed with google at their choice of logo design for the the 4th. Instead of depicting the 4th as independence day they have chosen to depict it as PICNIC day. I realize that that is what most Americans do on the 4th but still, that's NOT what the 4th is all about. They could have at least made the logo about our troops, our flag, our constitution etc..But no, they're sticking with their views which is probably anti-military since they are liberals over there at google.

You were right the first time.
You are right
Goolge has played a big part of destroying this countries Patriotism
I watched ABC News this morning and they all acted as if they had NO idea why Sarah resigned. Either they actually didn't listen to her speech or read her statement, or they are a bunch of liars. In fact, pundits I like are acting as if it's a big mystery. It's pretty clear: the media smear jobs doing every thing possible to destroy this woman coupled with the baloney "ethics" complaints that cost the Alaskans millions of dollars and the Palin family a bundle makes her ineffective as governor. Thanks to the politics of personal destruction, she cannot do her job effectively. The relentless attacks on her damage her credibility — not because they have any substance, but because of simple attrition. Any political opponent can simply bring up any idiotic smear perpetrated by the media or pundits or bloggers and she has to waste time refuting them. She has to waste time fighting baseless ethics complaints. Her resignation was an act of courage– she had to know this might end her political career for good, but she put her state first.
Here's another link Art, it said yours had a "malformed URL" whatever that means.

Katie Couric Among 2009 "Giants Of Broadcasting"
KC.jpgKatie Couric has been named one of the 2009 "Giants of Broadcasting" by the Library of American Broadcasting.
The seventh annual Giants awards ceremony is scheduled to be held October 1 in New York, with Charles Osgood as master of ceremonies.

Now all is right in the world

Thats it
LOL
These haters out there can't wait for any little bit of "new" news on Sarah Palin, without her their lives would be meaningless since it seems that all they do is tear her apart. If she had stayed in office they would have kept on tearing her apart, now that she's stepped down they're doing it even more so. I say F them all for the haters that they are.
And it's true too.
I second . BigHollywood is a rare gem in the mediajuggernaut.
Breitbart.com is probably the best offering of any news aggregate.
And I agree- we do take things for granted here. What we have now is due to the efforts of those who went before us, although many seem to assume our 'natural good looks' and birthright entitles us to continue on simply eating the fruit.
LOL, now THAT'S laughable, her ratings have been so low in the past five years or more that it's pitiful. I've never been able to stand her, she comes across as insipid and weak in her broadcasts and her scraggly hair just annoys me.
test
Great, their moderating comments again, either that or I D is messing up again.

Thanks.
Typos… he "hasn't" destroyed everything yet.
I don't know about them moderating
But my reputation score keeps dropping
LOL
If you want to understand who "broke" the carefully crafted government created by our founders, many of the answers come back to the "progressive" Congress and state governments around 1908-1914 that implemented three very important changes to how the United States government works.
The first and most obvious change, proposed in 1909 and ratified in 1913, was the 16th Amendment, which overrode the specific prohibition in the original Constitution against non-uniform taxation without any specific limits on how large and broad the new income taxes could become. But the other two are just as important, if not more important.
The second, in 1911, was fixing the number of members of the House of Representatives at 435. The Constitution says, "The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand." Today, the House has one member for around every 650,000. That means that each representative is elected by, and represents over 20 times more people than it did when there was one representative for every 30,000 people. It's much easier for 30,000 people to know who they are electing than it is for 650,000 people to know who they are electing, and vice versa.
The third, proposed in 1912 and ratified in 1913, was the 17th Amendment which changed the election of senators from the state legislatures to direct election by the people. Originally senators were the representatives of their states at the federal level and they were accountable to their state governments. As a result of this change, we now of the special interest meddling in presidential confirmations and the natural protection against unfunded mandates being passed on to the states and against federal grabs of state power, has been eliminated.
Undo any two of those three changes and I think we'd improve our government substantially.
I tried to make a post making exactly these points on another thread a couple days ago, but I was still posting as an unregistered user and my post disappeared into "administrative review land" and never returned. It was that incident that finally encouraged me to register. Thanks for making those points for me!
I have your Breitbart logo on my facebook and recommend it to all my right thinking friends!
I doubt Palin is done with politics. I keep thinking: "Hell hath no fury like a (conservative) woman scorned."
This is just the beginning.
Oh BTW–just in case you didn't get the memo: Big Brother would like to remind you that the new Groupthink from the left is going to be, Sarah Palin = Quitter. All quitter all the time.
It's going to be Palin quitter 24/7 so be prepared.
Katie Couric a ginat in broadcasting? That is such a play on words…. with next to no RATINGS… yeah a real giant among midgets!!!
Happy 4th to all the patriots out there in BH land.
Thanks Andrew for making it all possible since your opening last Jan.
Do as I do for the last 20 years on the 4th folks. It's become a family tradition of sorts.
Find a lefty, (that’s not too hard right now)…light it’s fuse…and watch it’s head explode.
Ah, good times…good times.
Off the SacTown Tea Party in 3…2…1
Not Over.
Honduras to OAS: Pound sand, take 2
The Organization of American States has threatened to suspend or expel Honduras if it doesn’t immediately reinstate deposed president Manuel Zelaya, kicked out of the country after the legislature and the Supreme Court demanded his arrest. Acting president Roberto Micheletti has called the OAS bluff, according to Xinhua, the Chinese news agency (h/t Steven G):
Honduras’ interim government announced Friday that the country decided to quit from the Organization of American States (OAS).
In a letter to the OAS read by Honduras’ Vice Minister of International Relations Martha Lorena de Casco, it said “This government believes that inside the organization (of the OAS), there is no room for Honduras, for the states that love its freedom and defend its sovereignty.”
The reading of the letter was made in presence of Honduran Acting President Roberto Micheletti.

Does this make you happy as me ?
I stuck it to two lefties last weekend with no holds barred. Plus, they were family so I think I get extra points for that.
1GooDDaDDY, you are a true patriot and I thank you for your service to our country on this Independence Day.
Annoying? to say the least, I love how they vault these people on top of pedestals…. like they really know there craft… PLEASE SHE READS FROM A TELE PROMPTER!!!!! hmmm, that is funny like another giant right now… can you say PRESIDENT?
There should be a key on the keyboard for sarcastic applause but since there's not:
SARCASTIC APPLAUSE!
Good for them! I wonder why the US is so concerned about Hondurans upholding their constitution…Kind of makes you go hmmmmm…
You're welcome..BTW that was an excellent video. Did you hear his last words in the vid? Kind of Prophetic don't you think?
Thanks for reminding me that I"ll be 33 this year. : (
I agree, there are many reasons, Sarah Palin, *might* have resigned. At this moment in time, we don't know.
You listed what you believed were a few of those reasons and in time, we may discover you were correct.
I listened to what she said in her speech yesterday and I believe she has a greater plan. I believe based on discussions she had with members of her closest family she made a decision to do what is best for her at this time in her life. She is her own woman. Authentic. Decent. Honest. She has never been nor will she ever be about politics as usual. The left, MSM, pseudo feminists, elitists, fear her…they will attack her now more than ever. She will fight back and in the end, will be successful.
Today is also the 183rd anniversary of the date of death for two of America's greatest patriots and founding fathers: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. One of the strangest coincidences in history.
Continued:
I believe her decision to resign yesterday was brilliant. Timing is everything. Right now, these people who wish to vilify her are going batsh_t. Off on their vacation for the 4th of July, whether it's Martha's Vineyard, the Hamptons or some other venue, they are going insane. She is as masterful as Ali was in his prime. From the time to story broke yesterday afternoon until about 10 last night, there were over 7,000 comments at HuffPo. These people are reacting like the rabid dogs of which they are.
Hang in there everyone. Trust this woman. She is the best thing to happen to our country in a long time.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July.
Sadly, according to JanNap, we are all extremists. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Katie Couric- Giant of Broadcasting? Can we say "Oxymoron"? That is rich, and good for a hearty chuckle!!
I would wish you all a happy Independence Day, but I haven't been feeling particularly f_cking patriotic of late.
I, sir, second your comments heartily.
Cloudbuster is correct- you were right the 1st time- HuffHoes.
Contumacy I can handle, but lately I'm trending more toward despair.
How about 48? : )

Insane with premature joy, most likely.
Mine too, of course I'm considered by some to be a jackass.
Couldn't get this out of my head this morning:
1 My country,' tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!
2.My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.
3.Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom's song;
let mortal tongues awake;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
4.Our fathers' God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom's holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.
I 3rd. BH is by far the creme' de la creme' of the internet. The writers and bloggers here are intellectual giants compared to the rest of the crowd! Thanx, AB. HAPPY 4TH!!
As a Massachusetts native the "land of the pilgrims pride" line, and therefore they hymn, has always resonated with me. My family was one of the originators of Christianity in Massachusetts and I'm proud of it.
Happy Fourth of July! Party like it's more important than ever!
Sarah Palin: Congrats & best wishes! Thanks for the passion you've generated thus far!
True Americans: Pray for our country — that it persevere, that it defeat this unparalleled assault on its very existence.
Andrew Breitbart: Thank you for this wonderful venue and your courage, for speaking out in so many ways for the Constitution.
Posters at Big Hollywood: Reading your sentiments, serious and light, helps keep me sane during these startlingly trying times.
America: God bless.
I want to take a moment on this holiday and say thanks to the Democratic Party.
Thanks for raising the minimum wage 40% in the last three years during a depression. The average young person is much better off getting let go from a higher wage job.
Thanks for preventing America from drilling to find energy. California and Florida are doing so well without the jobs and tax revenue from all those high-wage, high skilled workers. And the Fudge Nitwit was right, I can't expect to keep my thermostat at 72 and eat whatever I want. I need to save up for that over-priced electric car you tell me I want.
Thanks for abortion. All those extra Americans would have been taking up room that we need for illegal aliens.
Thanks for trying to stop global warming. It's good to know that the 5 billion year cycle of epochs of glaciation and short intervals of warming is safe. I was really worried that we might not ever have another ice age again.
Thanks for calling me a teabagger when the debt went from 4% of GDP to 13% and I was worried because you were passing the bills before they were written. I didn't realize that the whole problem was my racism.
Thanks for making sure Homeland Security was focusing on those Christians and ex-military guys that are threatening freedom, and thanks for making sure those freedom fighters in Afghansistan get their miranda rights and maybe even a beach house on a tropcial island!
Thankf for Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Nancy P., Harry Reid, Chalie Rangel, Henry Waxman. It's kind of like the Village People and the Jefferson Airplane have combined into a super-group to run our country. And when are you going to admit that Henry Waxman is some kind of mouse-human clone?
Thanks, President Obama, your recent stance vis-a-vis Honduras and Iran is saving us energy. The lamp on the Statue of Liberty is so much dimmer now.

Dimmer? It's going out.
Dimmer, hell. It's going out.
Over at Pajamas Media the trolls are attacking an article that is defending the right of the Hondurans to defend their constitution from the depredations of a Chavez-wannabe. Our president has sided with Chavez, Castro and Ortega. No one is standing with the Hondurans except for lonely voices in the blogosphere. I don't watch any mainstream news, including Fox, so I have no idea if it's being covered there, but I suspect not and that they're probably in full Sarah mode after having spent countless hours weeping over a creepy pederast.
The Hondurans remind us today that freedom requires constant vigilance, constant attention, and that there must be a line that politicians cannot be allowed to cross. Making their president follow the law and the constitution, and then removing him when he did not does not make a coup.
It's a beautiful day here in the Northwest, so I think it's time to go outside, listen for the fireworks, and watch the several neighborhood flags in the soft warm breeze. And enjoy what life here means and what it provides for us, in terms of safety, health, happiness and the ability to enjoy the beauty of the day without looking over our shoulders.
Happy 4th of July everyone…and what a strange one it is. Never did I imagine that in my lifetime, I would see our country being loaded on the trains for Socialism City. Never.
I picked up a copy of Dick Morris' latest book, "Catastrophe" day before yesterday, and I can't recommend it enough. There, he actually spells out courses of action we can take, and take now, to begin derailing Obama's agenda.
I for one know I need to get off my ass, and actually do these things, rather than sit back and just hope for things to right themselves.
Salute the flag today, all.
Ok…..
WHY did my entire account get reset? Why am I suddenly waiting for admin approval? Do y'all just occasionally hit the 'reset' button on users, or what?
Let's try again…..
First, Happy 4th of July to all, wierd one though it is. On this 4th of July, I am celebrating our independence from tyrranny by trying to understand why we are all suddenly being forced onto the train to Socialism City. It's a scary time, ladies and gents. Very. I never thought I would see this in my lifetime.
I picked up a copy of Dick Morris' latest book, "Catastrophe" day before yesterday, and I can't recommend it to everyone enough. Not only does he make the case, he also offers people things they can do, both now and in the future, to derail the devastatingly crippling Obama Agenda.
Last, again, Happy INdependence Day, and thanks to all of our military for making it possible. Let's make sure they didn't sacrifice everything in vain.
HIlarious…….
My complaint about not being able to post displays fine, but my comment, which I assure you is free of all profanity or inappropriate comments, is again, waiting for admin approval.
I give up.
Not a bad thing to have stuck on the brain! Have a great 4th!
At least they have a flag! It's probably because O is king, er president and it's OK to love America again (within reason, of course).
Nah, if I were a betting man, I'd say they're all flat out certifiably foaming at the mouth gonzo. She beat them to the punch and believe me, they're not diggin it as they sit around their clambakes pontificating with one another about her and what they can possibly do to *try* and stop her.
She's in their heads.
They can't take it.
Good luck with that.
Happy Independence Day!, and save some moments to think of our brothers in Honduras who believe in the rule of constitutional law. Today is the day we celebrate freedom from tyrants…anywhere, not just here.
Hang in there Jake.
I wish you a Happy 4th all the same.
Spot on, Jimmy!!
I'm with Jimmy, hang in there Jake, we need guys like you and the other fine people on this site(exception-trolls) for the Second Revolution.
this makes me ecstatic!! Go Honduras! Maybe they'll help us oust our overreaching corrupt politician soon…
Huff Ho…hee hee, Puff Ho…it would be funnier if I didn't refer to the G-Friend as Puff!
Palin has a PAC up a running sarahpac.com, she will a FORCE in GOP poitics for the next thirty years…she had the good grace not to campaign for the next three years on Alaska's dime…She can move to the east coast, and GET TO WORK!

I was very surprised by Sarah Palin's resignation announcement. I will be very curious to see what, if anything, comes out about it over the next few months. I hope that she has resigned for the most honorable of reasons — to be a better wife and mother to her family.
In a strategic sense, I'd have to agree with what political commentators are saying — that she has doomed any chance of a bid for the presidency.
On the other hand, I am reminded of something that I have probably heard a hundred different people say in various ways over the years. I think it's almost a universal sentiment — "Anyone who desires elected office should be automatically disqualified from holding any such office." Yet that's not how we as a people pick our candidates, or how our political machine works. I doubt we would ever be so wise as to rise up en masse and select a Thomas Sowell, for example — some wise person who deserves the office yet doesn't seek it.
William Buckley famously stated "I would rather he governed by the first hundred names in the Boston phone book than by the Harvard faculty."
Maybe that's our answer.
We are finally at a point, technologically, where Congress could, actually, be performed as a sort of super jury duty. I know that's kind of a scary thought — I think that we could end up with a bunch of ignorant cretins making our laws. Then I look at our current Congress passing massive stimulus and energy bills they haven't even read, and I think, "Oh, yeah."
I don't think we're quite ready to have a presidency by jury duty, but Congress, yeah, it could work.
And for more on James Montgomery Flagg (the artist of that poster):

Thank you to you and yours.
Thank ya. Popping a top on one of my latest homebrews for a toast to all that make our country great!

Happy fourth
Happy Independence Day to all my friends at Big Hollywood. Thank you, Andrew, John and all the rest for giving us this wonderful forum.

Re: Palin's resignation
The sight of talking heads speculating on Palin's motives or goals reminds me of the viciousness with which they attacked her. On the one hand, this is our politics. On the other hand, Palin is a Threat to Democratics and entrenched Republican elitists.
Palin was today's threat. There will be more to come, If not her, from others. Will Republicans continue to cave to PopMedia's obsession with destroying light from the right? Perhaps Republicans just need to mimic Democrats with a milder version of socialism. Independent thinking, derived from god-given freedoms, is the enemy of ALL entrenched interests in today's establishment politics from the Left OR Right.
I posted this thought on another thread. We don't know why Sarah Palin resigned, but whatever her reason was, the treatment of her once she was named McCain's VP nominee is unprecedented in the United States. The closest I can think of was when the Russian Bolsheviks shot the Tsar, his wife and all his children. The American Bolsheviks are more sophisticated; they did with words (propaganda media, Vanity Fair, David Letterman) and media (Couric and Gibson). There are many reasons Ms. Palin might have resigned: There may be a scandal lurking; the sixteenth ethics complaint may be valid; she couldn't afford to keep defending herself financially; one of her children, her husband or herself may have just received a serious diagnosis of ill health;
or frankly, after Letterman and Vanity Fair, she may not want to subject her children to the vicious attacks anymore. I believe she said something about the Down's Syndrome child being the most recent target. The American Bolsheviks won their election in the ballot box not by Revolution, but their behavior since they got there is different from their Russian counterparts only in degree.
I do, provisionally, but I am old enough to know that if you look too hard at most heroes short of Jesus Christ, you will find they have feet of clay. Sarah Palin is an awesome lady, and I am so far confident I would cast my vote for her over most of the political elitists on both sides of the aisle who are the only choices we seem to be given anymore.
However, I don't idolize her and won't be crushed if I find out there are baser reasons for her resignation than the good of her family or the good of the state.
I was just telling a friend today that especially since Kennedy we have allowed ourselves to treat our politicians in general and our presidents most of all, as much more than they are. They are not supermen, not saints and most certainly not indispensable. Sarah Palin is not our savior any more than Barack Obama is. The only thing indispensable in the U.S.A. is the body of the people itself. We must stop putting our trust in messiahs and start putting our trust in principles. Remember, we have a "government of laws, not of men," — if we can keep it, as Ben Franklin might have said.
I would wish you all a happy Independence Day, but of late I haven't been feeling particularly f__king patriotic.
I look around me today, I look at this country, I look at its people, I look at its culture, I especially look at its politicians. And all I see is corruption and decay and filth and dross and complete and total s__t.
I find it easier than ever now to be a Calvinist.
I would wish you all a happy Independence Day, but I don't feel particularly patriotic at the moment. Not after looking around at my country, her people, her culture, and especially her politicians.
It's on days like this that the doctrine of total depravity makes the most sense.
Of course. Teh Narrative must be spread!
Though as I pointed out to one of the trolls doing exactly as you described, Palin had already quit one political job before running for Governor due to issues she had with said job. They'll probably twist that as well, but that's hardly unexpected with these cretins.
Remove the 16th Amendment for the Fair Tax. Restore the Senate to the state legislatures making them relevant again, and restore the House of Representatives to the People. I think all three changes are very necessary. I would also add that the severe restriction or outright elemination of the "Federal Alphabet" would also go a long way towards righting many things.
In short, the Federal Government should be small enough that the election of the President should not be such a cause for alarm if the wrong man or woman were elected because the amount of damage the agenda of the individual could do in any one person's life would be limited. Lefties wouldn;t have to fear a retead of Bush, and Righties wouldn't have to fear another Obama or Carter. Let us worry about such things at a state level where the damage would be localized and we could all move away until it was rectified.
Go, go Honduras! Did you also catch that the OAS is now trying to tell Honduras that they can't quit? It sounds rather like the scorned girlfriend objecting, "No, _I_ dumped HIM!"
I hope you keep the red, white, and blue on the Site today year-round. It is awesome.
The Uncle Sam poster was an American adaptation of the British recruitment poster during WWI. The British poster showed Lord Kitchener in a similar stance and recruited for the Kitchener armies going to war. We adapted it and put Uncle Sam in k's place. In some of the earlier posters, it looks like we just put a wig and beard on K.

"Hell hath no fury like a (conservative) woman scorned."
Where is the evidence for that, the conservative part I mean? It´s these left wing banshees that are everywhere in evidence, from tv to classrooms to letter-writing campaigns. They captured the institutions and not we. And now we lost a governor and gained, at best, a pundit.
