Can anyone tell me what this song is saying? I really enjoy it.
It is called Hej Hej Ułani Malowane Dzieci:

Another title: "Ulanie, Ulanie", "Hey, hey, Ulanie". Piosenka prawdopodobnie powstała w okresie powstań narodowych, pierwowzór tej piosenki pochodzi z czasów Księstwa Warszawskiego (1807-1815). The song was probably the period of national uprisings, the original song comes from the Duchy of Warsaw (1807-1815). Była bardzo popularna w latach 1917-1920. She was very popular in the years 1917-1920. Ponowną popularność uzyskała w latach II Wojny Światowej, w szwadronach kawaleryjskich oddziałów partyzanckich. Gained popularity again in the years of World War II in partisan szwadronach kawaleryjskich branches
DOA with Dennis Quaid in 1988 was a remake??
I give up. From now on I am just going to assume that every movie is a remake of an older movie…..
DOA = obama Administration.
Don't feel bad LoneWolf..I used to feel the same way about music..When I was a kid I'd hear a "new" song that I really liked and My dad would come along and say something like..Oh that's a remake of such and such and that would just blow it for me.
Here is a letter I just sent to my Congressman and Senator
Dear Mr. Carnahan, Senator McCaskill, I would like for you to reconsider the Democrat position on "Cap & Trade" and "Health Care Reform" If you continue to support these programs in their current form, I will be forced to violate one of my principals, which is to never work against a candidate but, to only support my chosen candidate. I will not only work against you in the General but, I will work for any opponent against you in the Primary with both time and money. Enough is enough, I want the Government out of my life.
the original 'D.O.A.' was terrific, with the wonderful character actor Edmund O'Brien in a rare lead role- it still plays well, and is far superior to the lame Dennis Quaid remake. The zero sum plot device- a man discovers he is poisoned and has only hours to live told in flashback- is the impetus for dozens of other films, notably 'Memento' with Guy Pearce…
good stuff…
It's Democratic not Democrat
yep…actually it was one of the remakes I knew was a remake the first time it came on… The original was just head and shoulders MUCH better than the Quaid remake version…
Nic, you are so below the level of this site.
He can't help it. He suffers from a Democratic education.
it's even worse than i thought for the C&T one… PowerlineBlog has a map that shows how much certain states pay, and which ones 'get" money… It's uhm… well, eye-opening to say the least.
Basically, we'll be paying for CA and NY's (and i think 7 other states) electricity use…
I mean I knew it was going to be ridiculous, but I didn't realize HOW ridiculous this C&T bill was going to appear. I've given up all hope on hearing anything back from McCaskill or Clay.
I agree that the Edmond O'Brien version is superior, but I liked the remake. Dennis Quaid is such an underrated actor, in my opinion.
It's funny, the acolytes of the DEMOCRAT party are helping drive the country into a toilet but still find time to worry if it's Democrat or Democratic. Losers, all of them, from the top down….
yep- that's a real party line thing; we recall Pelosi complaining about being called the 'Democrat' party; they far prefer the more deliberative 'Democratic' party- which they are of course, not…
I rarely subject myself to the modern movie going experince; cell phones, cute commentary from the mob, etc. keeps me away so I tend to see movies after they have mainstreamed. That being said, Mickey Rourke was ROBBED! He and his character in "The Wrestler" coalease in a way I've rarely seen. He's magnificent. I respect Sean Penn's acting chops, he's a great talent, no doubt, but unfortuntely his politics get in my way. Rourke was just fantastic, and all of the movie is extremely well crafted.
the best thing about this is it's economic impact is so severe that any Democrat who votes for it is in huge political trouble… they are hoping to pass it with a 'phase in' period which will give them enough time to spin it for incumbent protection.
Problem is, just the passage will roil the futures martket and spike everything up. With that, a true taxpayer revolt will take place and the House will become Republican.
And MANY vulnerable Democrats are aware of that.
Indeed, there's nothing democratic about them.
likely this is the one good thing and Obama administration and demoCRAT controlled congress will bring; a kick in this country's complacency to do what is truly right.
Ok, it's not Hollywood related, but how freakin' bizarre is Mark Sanford's saga of why he disappeared and skipped out on his family over Father's Day weekend? "I went hiking…in Argentina!" Only slightly less bizarre was his wife not seeming to be terribly concerned.
My wife and I are anxiously awaiting "The Wrestler's" release on DVD. We didn't get a chance to see it on the screen. I've been hearing and reading some amazing things about his performance and personal connection to his character.
Looks like there's some common sense on global warming from Down Under:

"D.O.A." was one of those tightly made, low-budget little thrillers (1950) that Hollywood used to be able to produce without breaking a sweat. It's only eighty minutes long but it should be required viewing for every aspiring screenwriter. The characterizations, pacing and compression of events are brilliant. There isn't a line of excess dialogue and the story unfolds with urgency and logic. Edmond O'Brien is perfect as the victimized Everyman and demonstrates, as he always did, what a fine actor he was. Luther Adler and Neville Brand were among the nastiest screen heavies I can remember. Who can forget the sadistic Brand working over the sick Frank Bigelow while sneering "Little soft in the belly aren't ya Bigelow?" Rudolph Mate's direction uses subtle expressionistic lighting to suggest Bigelow's descent into a nightmare. Thanks for remembering this almost forgotten gem.
"enemy, mine"… will forever be Mr. Quaid's feather in his cap, in my humble opinion….
I dunno.. there was just something about the remake of D.o.A. that I _never_ could get into.
nice summation, it was a dear relative's favorite film and was screened many times as a youth… well done.
We get to call them anything we want. They like to think of themselves as progressives when we all know what they are doing to this country is not PROGRESS!
You are so right – Rourke was outstanding! Oscars becoming less and less meaningful.
Agree — quite creepy.
I have never been angrier than I am right now. This thick headed idiot who somehow got elected president has the cajones to call out private health insurors. Let's make Government Mutual required to show a profit, and be subject to the same expensive reporting requirements governments foists on the private sector. There will be no subsidizing Government Mutual losses by the tax payer.
By law, rates must be neither excessive nor inadequate and cannot be unfairly discriminatory. "profits" should be returned to the stockholders (e.g. taxpayers based on the percentage tax bracket at which they were taxed.
Did they still have that famous line?
"I'd like to report a murder."
"Who was killed?"
"I was."
I have a tendency to dislike almost all movie remakes, but I thought this one was okay. It was kind of funny to see two actors from Breaking Away (Quaid and Daniel Stern) play very different characters.
As far as Dennis Quaid movies go, I think The Big Easy is his best.
For me there was a very good reason to get into DOA: Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra
He is a Marxist, what did you expect?
Everyone that voted for him should be brought up on treason.
I am afraid the health care piece will be the hardest thing to undo, even after The Dems are kicked out of office. That is why I get so vehement about this particular topic (along with the fact I was in the insurance industry and know how much government regulations add to the cost, not the quality of health care in this country.)
Any entitlement is hard to get rid of. FDR never envisioned Medicare and Social Security existing 70 years later. Same with socialized medicine. If implemented it will be impossible to get rid of.
I blogged about this very subject a few weeks ago: http://lonewolfarcher.blogspot.com/2009/05/social...
And now I see he went to frolic with his trollop, and now he's weeping on tv, "apologizing." Yeesh. What's with all the douchebag politicians lately? I'm all for bipartisanship, but do they _all_ have to cheat on their wives?
The Byzantine Empire lasted 1,000 years. A good deal of the day-to-day administrative activity of government was managed by eunuchs.
They may have been on to something.
HAH!
Does anyone care that the NorKs are going to blow up Hawaii? Anyone? Would we even retaliate? He does have a fondness for Hawaii, no?
Why would Obama care. We'd still have 56 other states he could visit…………
Remember we gotta have that national health care system in place immediately. We have to have some way to help all the fallout victims. I really don't think Barry has ever heard the phrase "Keep your eye on the ball"….
He was SO sexy in that!
Loved the accent.
You are so right – Rourke was outstanding! Oscars becoming less and less meaningful.
"Reader" is now "ReaderRedux" — due to clarification of a technical log-in difficulty.
Agree — quite creepy.
"Reader is now ReaderRedux" — due to clarification of a technical log-in difficulty.
And I must now update my "creepy" comment — "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina."
It's on DVD now.
Available at a video store near you.
Thanks for the link. All hope is welcome on this front.
I care — a whole lot more than I care for "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" story out of S.C.
I replied, however I failed to reply in the right place. My reply is below.
Will check it out this weekend then. Thanks.
