Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

I'm hearing the rumor that the new Transformers movie makes fun of Obama.
Basically: Obama informs the Autobots they have to hold back because he wants to try diplomacy with the Decepticons. Honest.
Not sure if it's true, but it might explain why the critics are more hostile this time around. That, and it's a Michael Bay movie. Anybody have a confirmation/denial?
Too funny! I hope it is true.
How strange is it that on first look I thought this poster was a Bruno spoof of the original?
Obama's Presidential Approval index is now at 0! 33% strongly approve and 33% strongly disapprove. It won't go much lower though because there is about 15% of the population that will NEVER strongly disapprove no matter what he does.
If this is true, I am voting with my dollars and going out to buy my 3 year old son (already a big transformers fan) every Movie-related toy that's out there.
It's a good thing I wasn't drinking my coffee when I read that.
I saw the original and then the 90s American version. Everyone panned Point Of No Return, but Bridget Fonda was a cutie!
I haven't seen the original but did see Point. I enjoyed it well enough. My wife was a big fan of the TV series.
Are we bringing back La Femme Nikita,? I need some distraction from the real world and the so called News.
NOOOOBammmma
I second that. Jean Reno was way better as the cleaner though.
Way to encourage more gun violence… Idiots.
Sure – and regardless of what he should ever accomplish, there will always be that group that’ll always besmirch him.
…but then we also will always have holocaust deniers, civil rights objectors, FDR new deal criticizers and climate crisis antagonists.
When he does something worthy of praise, like allowing the SEALS to take out two Somali pirates, I will praise him. Other than that I can't find anything worthy of praise. All I see is anti-religion socialism from "That One".
P.S. New Deal sucked and still sucks. Not that your ilk will ever admit it.
I've seen both and liked Bridget too.
I guess by your thinking UP! will encourage the elderly to float their houses under balloons…………….
What's going on in Iran is a great argument for our Second Amendment rights. The Right to Bear Arms isn't just to protect our homes from intruders and foreign armies, but from tyranny from our own government. The people of Iran don't have that right, and thus it is more difficult for them to fight against their own oppressive government.
Its been released in the UK already…I wonder if any readers from across the pond can confirm this.
*puts on my Jewish cowboy hat, jumps on my horse and rides all around town shooting my revolver into the air*
EEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAA!
I didn't know I had an "ILK" but, no, I would never admit the New Deal sucked and I will never admit the earth is flat either.
We want a President not an evangelist and "socialism" applies to schools, roads, police, fire departments and our courts. You ILK brings nothing to the table except failed ideas, so don't act surprised when nobody except your own choir considers you to be legitimate.
Failed ideas! The ideas that made this the greatest, most powerful, and most patterned nation on the planet. Socialism has failed every where it has been tried. Move to one of those places. I'll pick up your moving expenses.
I thought Bill O'Reilly was to blame for all the gun violence. But you're probably right – somewhere out there, there's a gun-toting psychopath just waiting for a movie poster with a scantily clad French chick to give him the excuse to go on a killing spree.
What ????? We aren't safest when the gov't has all the guns. That sneaky Pol Pot lied to me. Darn it!
Bravo!
I remember seeing Nikita the year it first played in the US. Loved it!
I got a good chuckle today out of Obama stumbling over the live grenade "questions" that he was answering over Iran, health care and smoking. What is 95% cured of smoking mean? Where did he install the smoking Office? He said that he doesn't subject anyone to his smoking, so they must have a private room that only he can enter.
It looks like he finally found the courage to condemn Iran after seeing everyone else doing it. If he would have been the first to condemn, he wouldn't have to need the world to back his comment. How much negative press did he need before he got the stones to say anything? Nice try Barry, but you're too late to sound sincere.
Love that. I will do the same for my grandson!
nana
Dr. Pepper is now officially all over my keyboard.. LMAO. The French drive many a people to violence, just ask the Germans.
One of the ways Capitalism works very well.
I will give Obama credit for a line in his Cairo speech about just how plain idiotic it is to deny the Holocaust.
But as for FDR new deal criticizers, the way the American public school system teaches the New Deal is simply horrible. They white wash everything. And considering the teachers are in unions, that's hardly surprising.
Since there's no way I could ever convince you the New Deal isn't better than canned beer, allow me one remark: why did every nation in the world suffer a depression, but only America suffered a Great Depression?
Major league screw ups by politicians of both parties.
I like the old saying, the Second Amendment is the Constitution's reset button.
The Founding Fathers knew all too well the power of an armed citizenry. That was 'them' against the King. It reinforces the concept "Government of the people, by the people, for the people*."
*Note: I realize it's a Lincoln quote, but its still fitting.
The gossip I've been reading on the internet says his senior staff have been pushing him hard to get off the fence and make a statement, in particular, Clinton and Biden.
My guess it wasn't courage he found, but rather unpleasant poll numbers.
that would be me. mwahahahahahaahahahahaha

About time we have a decent poster to comment on, no Bruno there at all! Although the original movie is the best (Anne Parillaud is a goddess as far as I'm concerned), the TV version isn't too shabby. With Joel Surnow and Robert Cochrane behind it, I believe the series put USA Network on the map.
Thumbs down though to Point of No Return, a waste of time except for Bridget Fonda.
Although this is an open thread, I was hoping for an Øbama free zone, although he was quite dorky at the PC today.
Cheers,
Frank
My German is rusty. What do those words mean? I'm guessing , "She has no worries. She kills. She loves". I would appreciate a more authoratative translation.
I only saw "Point of No Return."
I always thought it was strange that Harvey Keitel had basically the same job in both that picture and in "Pulp Fiction."
the New Deal wa so wonderful that FDR needed WWII to bail him (and us) out of yet another tailspin; the economy that Coolidge bequeathed to his successors stunk until Ike got in in '53.
Then the recovery started and lasted until 'The Great Society' turned rural folk into ghetto dwellers and and wasted over three trillion dollars (of real money, not Obamascript). Then Reagan gave the country back to the people and we had the greatest period of economic growth worldwide in modern history.
Other than that the New Deal was fine…
In the words of a decorated, veteran SFPD inspector: "There's nothing wrong with a little shooting as long as the right people get shot."
My German is even lousier than yours – so I cheated and used the online 'German to English' translation. And it came out – "It has no anxiety. It kills. It loves."
"well, you're a good man, Briggs- and a good man knows his limitations…" more quotations from the venerable inspector, and pithy for the post, dontcha think?
Jewish cowboys are cool, Kinky Friedman comes to mind- but jewish Indians are even better. Jeff Chandler was our favorite…
I just watched Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama give the low down on Judge Sotomayor on C-Span2. She is such an awful choice. Please Republicans, stop this travesty from happening.
Please patricius, stop your whining. Sotomayor is Obama's choice, he won the Presidency, and what he says goes.
They're hostile because it's full of suck. 25% on Rotten Tomatoes and even the nerds at Ain't It Cool News are amazed at how bad it is. Everyone knows it's a Bey movie, it's just apparently a crap one. And apparently very crude. Me? I knew one helping of giant robots was plenty.
and let us not forget Mel Brooks' yiddish Indian Chief.
What a fresh movie that was. And the USA Network series was terrific–kind of dark, intriguing, used glances more than dialogue. And excellent soundtrack.
I am sorry we have offended you with our acceptance of shiny metal phallic symbols. As we offended you before with our acceptance of big SUV's and pick-ups and those horrifying Camaro's and Mustangs. Now please resume your crusade against the phallic symbols that eject stuff at people, as well as your one to force everyone to drive the little tiny vehicles that you find so much more non-threatening (to the environment).
So says Planet_Poor_Boy, defender of baloney!
Excellent job demonstrating your knowledge of the American political process. Most people do not realize we elect a Supreme Dictator.
