Charlie West went to bed one night an ordinary high school student. He woke up a hunted man. Terrorists are trying to kill him. The police want to arrest him for the stabbing death of his best friend. He doesn't know whose side he's one or who he...

Great film. Beau Bridges is one of the most underrated actors out there.
This too is a favorite – Michelle was never hotter and Dave Gruisin's score and adaptation was terrific. Anyone want to hear "feelings" one more time?
It was on that piano where I fell in love with Michelle Pfeiffer, a love that now enters its third decade and has survived two marriages (hers and mine) and four restraining orders.
I'm not sure if the left's spin on the murder of Dr. Tiller is great comedy or great tragedy. I watched Maddows first segment last night where she interviewed someone from an abortion clinic where Tiller's accused murderer had vandalized and had been seen protesting around since at least 2000. The man being interviewed was kept anonymous (even though it was probably unnecessary and just a device used to instill fear) and went through the instances of vandalism of the accused murderer. Specifically mentioned was an incident in 2000 where the accused glued the locks of the clinic. The man being interviewed went through the evidence of the crime, which included grainy security cam footage with no face seen on it, and his own word. He contacted the FBI and they said they couldn't do much, but that they would have a "talk" with the accused because the evidence was weak. The accused was not seen again at that location for 6 years. Anyone with any sort of a brain could see that the FBI was right, the case was weak, and would never get past a grand jury. After the interview, Maddow read a prepared statement that literally makes up evidence about the 2000 incident, saying the accused was identifiable on the video (not true), his license plate was on the video (not true), and bringing up irrelevant circumstantial evidence to chastise the FBI about not charging the man with a FACE act violation. Her entire premise was false. I'm not sure if this is a case of ignorance, willful ignorance, or just downright lying. I just hope no one is buying that b.s., but I'm afraid that is wishful thinking, and these nuts will continue to lie through their teeth.
Apropos of nothing: R.I.P. The Mighty John Carradine.
the killing of Tiller is a political crime tanamount to poisoning Trotsky for infidelity and trying to sell it to the Politburo… Maddow is a marxist propagandist and will 'shape' the facts to fit the dialectic.
No surprise here…
'Baker Boys' is a perfect example of a classic film. Classic in the sense it is a small, yet timeless story. Both Bridges boys are good, although Beau was the real surprise here. His finely nuanced performance offset the more predictable arcs of Pffeifer and Jeff Bridges, although they were both fine as well.
Good stuff…
Imagine Rachel Maddow as the female character with David and Keith Carradine competing for her affection, set to a soundtrak of Woody Guthrie songs, and Nashville reruns, like I'm Easy ??
Weird, huh ??
Not apropos of nothing! I was shocked and a little sad when I saw…now they think maybe suicide (noose around neck in Bangkok hotel room? Could it be more sordid?), which is even sadder because although he clearly had his looped out drug days, he seemed to be settling into character actor (albeit in a lot of cheesy stuff) in his later years. I always smiled when he came on, even in those wretched phone book commercials.
David.
Rest in peace.
The lie was just so particularly egregious in its untruthfulness. It was 5 minutes after the guest laid out the facts. And I have always seen Maddow as having some redeemable qualities (unlike Olbermann who isn't really human, and looks like a regular at Mos Eisley Cantina). The fact that their ratings are above 0.0 is shocking and sad to me.
So what about that Garofalo Lady? I hear she has some opinions.
they (Maddow, Olbermann, MSNBC) preach to the leftist 'choir'… it was a business decision made by Zucker and Immelt to become the 'state organ' media for the Left. Their ratings are weak, but they have eclipsed CNN in some demographics by taking THEIR left wing audience away. So, while MSNBC can show some upswing,it's at CNN's expense and the market share is static- not increasing.
Feel better?
Barack Obama was "shocked and outraged" at the shooting of Tiller. So was I. I would have preferred that after his killing of a reported 60,000 unborn humans he would have died in a different manner. Perhaps he could have been placed in a closed container filled with salt water, or had the flesh vacuumed off his bones. He could have been dismembered by loops of stainless steel wire while still alive. He might even have had forceps thrust into the base of his skull and had them opened and closed repeatedly. Fair is fair!
His family came forward to eulogize and mourn him. He was such a good provider. They lived richly while, in effect, consuming the flesh of the murdered innocents. And the "congregation" of his "church" mourned as well. I'm sure he tithed, and, I believe, he was a deacon! As they accepted his offerings, they were complicit in his enterprise. For their communion, he provided the blood and the bodies, but it was not Christ with whom they were united. It was a darker being whom they were serving, and, perhaps, whom they will see. I wonder if any of them have considered that Tiller is that "millstone around their necks" of whom Christ spoke?
A great touch in FBB is Beau Bridges rec room/garage FILLED with memorabilia, hundreds of shot glasses… You can tell that performing with his brother was how he defined himself and his willingness to let go and make a living giving piano lessons is played very well and realistically — Beau really does steal the movie in an understated way.
I also love that you never see his family. The family man stuff is established only with dialogue and situation.
The moment when Jeff Bridges grabs the punk's nose at the vet is a nice touch, as well. His love for his dog helps us to forgive the fact that otherwise he's kind of a dick.
Every time I watch the movie I think how hard it would have failed had Beau fallen for Michelle too. that the love triangle is between brothers is what makes it work so well.
Is it just me or is Obama's catering to the Muslim world a lot like Scar and the hyenas?
Yeah, wasn't John killed a fire back in the early 80s or something?
Oh wait–that was his character in "The Howling"
A bit actually, thank you. I guess there is a niche for everything. File MSNBC under "Self-serving maniacal Constitution shredding phonies with Napoleon complexes".
Ho! clever acronym… we might add 'Many Silly Nitwits Briefing Cretins' to the mix as well…
It's gotten even more "sordid"
.. now there's a story about it death by auto-erotica that went wrong…
You'all would be shocked to see the debris trail CNN World leaves on the airwaves of Europe and beyond. Propaganda at it's finest. Virtually every ill the world suffers is a result of "global warming". The focus also seems to be on the plight of Africa, and make no mistake, there is a plight there. The problem is not "global warming" it's bad despotic leadership, a fact they NEVER mention. CNN World's fix for Africa is help from the first world and ofcouse reduction of green house gases. They run "green" solution crap constantly. Unfortunately after a day at a world class museum or ancirnt Roman site CNN is the only English language news. Italian T.V. sucks, it's like Mexico's but worse.
when you believe in nothing than you must believe in something, right? What did Dylan say? "You've got to serve somebody- it may be the Devil, it may be the Lord, but you got to serve somebody"… so, they have fallen on paganism- Gaia worship- as their religion.
And religion it is…
agreed. Beau Bridges did Oscar quality work there; rich, rewarding, and realistic… the triangle was done well, too- although having just seen it recently (in lovely HD, too) Beau's performance actually is the best part of the film and his character is by far the most three dimensional.
The ending with Michelle and Jeff at the bus stop has a nice note of melancholy…
Can't agree. I liked her best in Batman II, but she was excellent in The Story Of Us as well.
I’m not sure what I was expecting with The Fabulous Baker Boys: a romantic musical, or a romantic triangle. What I found is a moody story of three losers who come together for a while and then drift apart. It’s all faintly depressing, done in a key of noir that under other circumstances (or in another story) I would enjoy.
TBB is a good film, but nothing can top Michelle in "Ladyhawke". I was so impressed I registered my German Shepherd as "Ladyhawke Raven of Cloncurry".
I read that Tiller attended the same church as the BTK serial killer. Nice place. Very accepting.
We get cases like this from time to time. It sounds like auto erotic asphyxia to me. An early report said that the ligature was around the neck and the genitals. Also that he was found sitting down. If true, its interesting that in a city where he would have any choice of sexual debauchery imaginable that he would risk dying in this manner.
Michelle was just too hot for words on that poster.
Sorta makes one wish BHO had not been an only child.
Woah…
I think my user rating just went up.
Did they actually fix it?
