All I know is Nick Nolte was a cool enough guy to sneak me in to the hockey auditions for 'Slapshot' many moons ago. One of the great memories of trying to make my bones as a young actor. Nick Nolte…aces with me.

Nick Nolte's career has sadly failed to make the most of his impressive capacity.
He has had riveting moments in many forgettable films.
Not long ago, he was great in The Good Thief (2002), a decent heist flick (refreshingly not too Hollywood slick).

My favorite Nick Nolte performance was a 45 minute part of a trilogy, called New York Stories (1989),
which is also my favorite Scorcese film and another great script by Richard Price
(these two also teamed well on The Color of Money, 1986).

One of Armand Assante's most rewarding films is the very obscure Belizaire the Cajun (1985).

I can't think of an Assante film that I haven't enjoyed actually… even the "cable regular" Citizen Verdict with Jerry Springer…

All I can think of is his not acknowledging Elia Kazan when he got his special Oscar. Yeah, communist GOOD. Anti-communist BAAAAAAAD.
