Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

Like five people shouted out "A whole year?!?!"
I'm not a marketing guy so maybe I just don't get it, but what good does this do?
It wasn't even a trailer, just a promo.
I'm glad to know that it is comming. maybe that was the point.
I'm a little baffled.
Yayayay! I am also just glad to know it's coming out. I won't be frothing waiting for the release, so I don't mind a super-early tease.
Love. It. They re-introduced everyone (everytoy?) so well. This is going to run in front of the upcoming 3D double bill of Toy Story 1 & 2 this fall, so it makes sense. It's just so damn cute!!
r.i.p. Jim Varney/Slinky Dog *sniff*
They forgot "Bo Peep"
There are so many problems with this post, that it isn't even worth trying to fix it.
Clearly there is a disconnect between history and this person's fiction, but even a clear delineation won't lead to an admission of what has happened since the coronation of The One.
Wow, I would have thought that this teaser would have excited me, but nope: I feel nothing. Once too many times to the well for Pixar, perhaps? Now "9" on the other hand–that looks cool.
Lower your expectations way down for 9. Saw the test screening, it makes Igor look good.
BTW: "UP" Sucked…least entertaining, weak and incoherent plot, gravitates mostly towards adults, kids…bored out of their minds. Sorry Critics…."UP" Sucks!
Come on, don´t you know a brilliant parody when you see it? It´s obviously the same genius who writes http://iraqwarwrong.blogspot.com
GM failed because of Reagonomics? That´s funny, like saying Orson Welles caused World War 2.
Yeah, how dare an animated movie try to be about something instead of just entertaining kids… Seriously, you're the reason why they churn out Ice Age after Ice Age and Shrek after Shrek, Alexander.
Ouch, that's too bad. The original short was very atmospheric and dark. It also had no voice work–just sound effects. Were the voices part of the problem in the test screening you saw?
I love the first two films. Pretty sad that the best buddy pictures Hollywood can point at in the last decade are a couple of animated movies whose target market is children.
I'm amused by the teaser, but don't understand it either. Then again, I'm not a marketing guru. Maybe they put this out in order to create buzz & conversation just as we're doing.
Excuse me: Two of the best buddy pictures to come out in the last 15 years.
Not Really…see I think movies can be both entertaining and smart. Since I despise the films you mentioned as either just plain sophmoric and stupid…I.E Ice Age….or Liberal Politically Correct Post-Modernist Crap like Shrek…you are not pegging me right. Pixar makes outstanding smart films that are entertaining…from Wall E, to the Incredibles and everything else…even CARS was great. "UP" is just a mess, it does not even come close to the other efforts. Most of the kids in the movie theater were bored and the parents were wondering if they were suppose to ponder existential feelings on relationships and life…or laugh at the inane intelligent talking dog collars and their owners that made no sense in relationship to the story. Its just NOT great…its okay…but its not PIXAR worthy. The critics are way off on this one. It for the most part sucked…sorry it just did. Great Animation…bad story – strange plot- …just not good.
Fair enough. I guess everyone has a movie that simply doesn't work for them.
That said, it didn't suck, you simply just didn't like. There's a difference.
I'll excuse you again: Pixar's target market is not children. Never has been, never will be.
As I pointed out in the "Up" thread, brainless Saturday morning cartoons have conditioned people to think of animated movies as kidstuff. In the case of Pixar, that label is both unfortunate and entirely undeserved.
As for the concept of teaser trailers, I don't entirely understand the rationale either, but they're still fun to watch as long as one is aware it's only a teaser. When I saw Up on Friday, there was a teaser for Ice Age 3 that was a real hoot; had me laughing. If the precedent set by the first two Ice Age movies continues, the teaser will be more fun than the actual movie. Pixar reverses that formula: their teasers are lame, their movies are great.
Oh dang. I sold my Buzz Lightyear collector doll too early.
Hmmm. Everyone but me thinks Up is great. The critics have run out of superlatives. 90%+ on Rotten Tomatoes.
It's obvious. Everyone is wrong except me. Yep, that must be it.
Seriously, I think you must have some sort of preconceived notion that kept you from giving it a fair shake. Don't like grumpy old men? Don't like annoying fat kids? Terrorized by demonic balloons as a child? Whatever it is, you can just say this movie didn't do it for you, without saying it sucked. For me, Monsters is my least favorite Pixar flick, but I know people (and have read some critics) who think it's Pixar's best. They're entitled to their (stupid) opinion, and I'm not going to say Monsters sucked — just didn't float my boat. Same with Wall-E — not my favorite, but pretty good (first half was great), and I'm not going to question the sanity of those who opine differently.
If you have an ounce of humility in you, the fact that Up is nearly universally lauded should at least give you pause.
Life is like 'Toy Story': sometimes you get a Buzz – sometimes you get a Woody…
I just let my three year old son watch the teaser. He sat in my lap with his jaw hanging open, then screeched, "WOODY! BUZZ!"
The only thing that could excite him more would be a teaser from "Cars 2."
Aw, now, that's just mean!
He's still got a year to wait!
I myself have had enough of Toy Story. If any of the Pixar films deserves a sequel or for this matter, a trilogy, it should definitely be the Incredibles.
Yeah. That's what a "teaser" trailer is. It doesn't show much from the movie (if anything at all). It is strictly to get the date out there and get the ball rolling with some buzz. PIXAR follows the same plan every time. A specially made (ie NOT an actual scene from the movie) teaser about a year in advance. And you can't argue with their success.
Was that an innuendo
