I would have been about seven when this came out, and don't really remember seeing it. I guess the question is "who dubbed Brando's vocals?" Ah, those were the days (pre-Castro Cuba.)
I believe Brando did his own vocals. Yup.
…only to be topped by Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin doing their own singing in "Paint Your Wagon," which killed the movie musical for more than a generation…
Hello Big Hollywooders, how you' all doing? I'm navigating a European keyboard that has a whole host a stuff I don't recognize like à, ç,ò,§, and generally it's a chore fumbling about it, but I shall persevere. I've been in Italy for about a week and it's everything you see on film and T.V. and more. It's a strange feeling to walk where the ancient Romans walked and see the majesty of the temples and buildings and the overwhelming size and perfection of the Pantheon. Juxapose this with the modern reality of Rome and it makes for a bit more somber a picture. Try as I might I can't find any cricumstance that let's me be comfortable with the Al Gore / Hussein Obama vision for our country. Where, you ask do I get this rant from? I watched a young Mom strap a helmet on her daughter, about six or seven years old, put her own helmet one, then tear through Roman traffic with little Giovanna holding on for dear life. Ya, sounds fun, once. Maybe twice. Everyday America? Gas by the quart? Dinky little cars? Scooters every where? New York City can go there but not my Texas.
Oh, and "Guys and Dolls" is a great movie…it's makes me ever more appreciative of TMC. Oh ya, I ran down the Spanish Steps like Audrey Hepburn in "Roman Holiday"…in the film she caught what they call "Roman Fever" where you come here and never leave…other than the sense of "I don't care, I get paid anyway" attitude and the crazy scooter jockeys (men, women, hotties all walks of life) I can see how that can happen… I'll hit y'all back fro various other parts of Italy and other countries of Europe as this month and June move on…so long from Rome…has Auntie baked his pie yet?
Not my Texas either. "Come and take it!"
As neat as it must be to see all that history, I'm sure it does make you appreciate what we have (and seem to be in danger of losing. Be sure to try and get plenty of that good Tuscan wine while you are there.
It's sad watching a full grown man of plus six feet in height fold himself into a putt putt clown car and putter away shifting gears. I saw it happen and could see a kind of pained expression in his eyes. This was in a upscale neighborhood of Rome where condos are very expensive. You see nice cars, Jags and Porches and plenty of Benz's but most everyone is in a Smart car or tiny tiny Fiats. There are some slightly bigger Alfas and even a bunch of Ford Focuses. I've seen two pickups, both four door Japanese models…tens of thousands of cars, two trucks. Even the city work trucks a tiny, it's like Lillputian World…
Cuba should be a U.S. protectorate like Puerto Rico, not a Commie disaster and inspiration for other Sud Americano crazy men like Chavez. Walt Garrison used to say "just a pinch between your cheek and gums…" I say, "just a few .22 slugs behind Chavez's ear, now that would be real progress for "Red Venezuela"….
Speaking of Sinatra:

And it only gets worse:

I mean, it's difficult enough trying to find an actor who could believably bring Sinatra's presence to the screen, but when your top choices are Leo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp, there's a problem.
LOL!…Eastwood looked like rather be getting cattle prodded the entire number!
Yeah, but he more than made up for it with the immortal "Beers to You" duet with Ray Charles at the opening of "Any Which Way You Can."
I wish he'd go in front of the camera one more time to complete the "Clyde Trilogy." It could be tough, though. You could always get another orangutan, but Ruth Gordon is irreplaceable.
I will go to riding a horse to town before I buy one them scooters or sardine cans.
Stubby Kaye is THE MAN!.. Also a very young Jerry Orbach belting out Nathan Detroit in the barbershop.. and last but not least B.S. Pully being B.S. Pully. God I wish they were still around. Life would seem a little bit more normal.
Those two wouldn't make good dwarfs in my book.
OMG Clints vocals in that movie totally sucked! lol..I loved that movie though..I'll really be sad when Clint leaves this world.
Hell those two wouldn't make a good pimple on Franks butt. Couple of elitist snobs now that they have gotten rich off of us poor peons.
*sigh* I loved Roman Holiday, I put it on my Itouch to watch on the plane the last time I flew..
I like scooters myself, there are some decent size ones out there that really zip along. The only thing is I still wouldn't feel safe on them going up against semis and SUVs.
It looks like the UK's version of American Idol is not without its own homophobic judges. I expect such bigotry here in the states, but even thousands of miles across the pond, talent takes a back seat to hate. Argue with me if you must, but there's no disputing the fact that Susan Boyle lost because because Adam Lambert is gay.
Have you ever seen a, 6'2" 250 lbs guy riding one of those 49cc things and think, wth? That's me. The only thing worse than that, is if it's a pink one.
I saw a TV commercial yesterday for the the Honda Prius and they showed all these happy young people frolicking at the beach with coolers and surf boards, and I wondered just how the hell they got there.
DiCarprio was woefully miscast as Howard Hughes in The Aviator and now he might play Frank Sinatra? That makes no sense to me.
No pie… never pie. I'm begining to think Auntie is actually anti-pie.
Man, you are making me jealous with your travel report. Sounds like you're having a great time. Enjoy!
I second that. . . wholeheartedly. If Obama wants my car, he's going to have to come get it.
They should cast James Marsden as Sinatra.
Scorcese loves Leo.
am I the only non-Sinatra fan left ?
The first movie I remember seeing in the theater was Cahill US Marshall. Dad took me to a matinee during the summer after he graduated law school before he started work. Really liked the movie-going experience when I was 7, seeing the movie years later allowed me to appreciate John Wayne.
Ugh.
I'm telling you if he casts this guy as Sinatra, he'll kill the movie. Find a young unknown talent for the love of mike or pete or…
Ugh.
I still like Johnny Depp, even though he wasted his talent on the 2 pirates sequels. I can see him as the very young, smooth-cheeked Sinatra of the 40's who made bobby soxers swoon, but not Frank at the height of the Rat Pack. Anyone remember the Rat Pack mow HBO made some years back? Ray Liotta (Sinatra), Joe Montegna (Dean Martin), Don Cheadle (Sammy Davis Jr.)–no-one really resembled who they were supposed to be, but it was a lot of fun to watch.
Leo? Seriously?
Sign me out. Jimmy Arone has it right. Cast a talented unknown, lord knows there's more than a couple out there who could pull it off and get paid next to nothing.
We need a new crop of talent as it is. I can't think of a single young "star" that I give two sh!ts about.
Sheldon Leonard's greatest roie ever.
Anyone want to bet that Olbermann is going to blame O'Reilly, Rush and Hannity for the murder of Dr. Tiller?
Murder is murder. Never a good reason to kill someone.
The idiot who shot him has just made him a martyr for the cause.
And demonized those who fight with in the law.
Even though it appears no one watched the 'ice breaker' clip on YouTube, I shall answer the question anyway:
Yes, The Beastmaster rescues the smelly little ferret… The ferret then thanks him by biting him in the loincloth.
(Okay, I made the last part up…)
If you didn't just see it, watch the Churchill picutre on HBO — Out-f'ing-standing!
If I may add…that is one very cool lookin' one sheet for 'Guys And Dolls'
Samuel Goldwyn Presents America's Own Musical…
Love it!
I am in total agreement with Bennett Marco…'Into the Storm'…is a must see on HBO. A great story with amazing performances from top to bottom. Brendan Gleeson is nothing short of phenomenal in the role of Winston Churchill.
Hats off to director/Thaddeus O'Sullivan, writer/Hugh Whitemore, executive producers/Tony and Ridley Scott.
Exceptional film. I highly recommend it.
