Craig T. Nelson, thank you so much for your eloquent comments on today's Glenn Beck Program. You summarized the problem — a runaway federal government stealing our money (which is what taxation without representation is) — and the only possible solution: Don't pay them.

Income tax revenue for April 2008 is down 34% from April 2007. Maybe it's already started. If I could figure out a way for my employer to not automatically pay my taxes I would go on a tax strike.

Did you just make up your little screen name a few minutes ago specifically to post this nonsensical diatribe?

California has been run by Democrats for Decades. They have had some ineffectual Republican governors who were mostly RINOS. But then, you're just trolling so we know that you know this.

Democrats don't care about taxes, so many don't even pay their own taxes. Their constituents either don't pay taxes or are too rich to be affected by high taxes. So high taxes and big spending governments only hurts honest hard-working people who try to make a better life for themselves.

We finished McCain, Spector touted turncoat for no political payoff in Judicial Committee, (Thanks, Dems!), Snowe and Collins are smelling the blood in the water, (their own irrelevancy), and the other RINO's know the fates that lie in wait for them. Hopey spent all the money and didn't fix a thing, the unions will flourish while their members wait in lines and on phones for government doles and no hope for ANY job, much less that cushy auto plant work. The Dems will finish CA, NY, OR, MD and other states, trying to soak rich people that moved away and took the largess with them, but promise the moon and stars for everyone willing to spend 25 hrs. a day filling out the endless forms, waiting in the endless lines, talking to the endless bureaucrats who have the jobs that the unemployed paid for with their own future opportunities.

"Hey! How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out for you?" will replace "Brother, can you spare a dime?" as the mantra of this generation. YOU and YOUR PARTY own this. Bush is not working anymore as a scapegoat, and everyone without a teleprompter knows it. We ought to put the chains on the feds by refusing to directly pay them taxes. The states should open escrow accounts and we put the money there. We with hold until the feds toe the line again. This is the only leverage we have – we must get our states involved – I bet Texas would!

I have read that the biggest fear the IRS has is the tax paying class reaching critical mass and deciding "the hell with it". I guess you could call that a John Galt moment.

I have read that in LA County – the county's "GNP" – 40% of it is under the radar – illegals and a cash economy.

Then you have something like the top 2% of income earners paying 50% of the income tax burden. And still they want more. And spend even more.

I have often had this discussion with a friend – a "what if" scenario – "What if" this country were essentially the same as it was at the founding? And the way it was intended to be? Most people wouldn't recognize it.

We would have a very minimalist Federal Govt – Strong state governments – and people a lot better off economically because virtually all that they made they could keep.

But when you have politicians vying to buy votes with your money…I have been meaning to reread the Federalist Papers again to see how the Founding Fathers debated this issue – I am sure that it came up.

And Craig Nelson is da man – I have liked him since Call To Glory – and he likes racing cars, too…

As to his central premises that (a) the politicians aren't accountable, (b) they are spending money on stuff that most people don't want while ignoring that which should be funded I say "hear, hear".

Obamo sadi yesterday this may be our last chance for Universal health care, and I was so looking forward to paying trillions of more tax dollars for the care of freeloaders, welfare recipients, and the black masses who elected him.

Bush had one stupid spending program after another forced on him by Democrats and their media allies.
When Bush was against the Medicade Prescription Drug program he was protrayd as a heartless man who did not care about the elderly so hundreds of billions were wasted on that.
Then came Hurrican Katrina and Democrats calling Bush a racist who didnt care about the Black people there so we had to waste hundreds of billions more on the rat hole of New Orleans.
Once Dem's got hold of congress the blackmailed Bush by filling every war spending bill with 100's of billions more in Pork he had to pass in order not to lose Iraq which the Dem's would have just loved.
Could Bush have been more forcefull in resisting all this, yes of course I wont deny that.
But don't dare put Bush in the same boat as these Liberal maniacs who have wasted so much of this nations wealth fighting poverty and achieved nothing but more poverty.

I sympathize with Mr. Nelson and enjoyed watching the clip. What about those of us with children who can't afford to go to jail and leave our kids at the mercy of the state? We're not going to let the state educate them from cradle to cap & gown, and we'd like to be around to give them a solid foundation for becoming the people God wants them to be. As it stands, we don't have the option of not paying taxes on my husband's income. I'm still looking for work and try to pull in what I can from home in one way or another, though it's not exactly a steady trickle.
The day may come, though, when a significant percentage of U.S. citizens decide they've had enough of the government's mismanagement of our hard-earned money and withhold their money–or even go so far as to renounce the federal government and work towards replacing it with a financially responsible one that really represents its citizens' interests. I'm not sure how that would come about, though–short of an all-out, armed revolution. I honestly think Obama sees our soldiers in the military as "throw away people"–much like the unborn. He'll use them, but he won't honor them or do anything to further their interests.

Remember Geithner, Sebelius, Daschle., Kelleher, Solis, and Kirk. The Obama team didn't just suggest we stop paying taxes, as Craig Nelson did, they stopped paying taxes. I believe they were telling us something. Let's follow their lead.

Grab a W4 and read it carefully. It gives you that option. You can always redo a W4 and it goes into effect immediately. I always put down Married with 10 dependents, then pay taxes at the end of the year. You can hold on to your money for as long as you can and make it work for you. Or you can go Single with 0 dependents and let the Feds take take 30%, mismanage it all year long then give back what's left at the end of the year…with no interest, of course.

As far as the Social Security withholdings go, we're screwed. They're going to skim that off the top no matter what we do.

We have to be self-interested, Sarah, much as that sounds like a bad thing.
We have to make our decisions based on a fiscal conservatism. As much as I like the ideas of on site solar power generation, hydrogen fuels, and LED lighting, is this something the government should be paying for? The same government that threw TARP, Porkulus, Bloated Earmarks: The Budget, and Cars: The Bailout?

Its high time the Federal Government went on a severe, even emaciating diet, and let the states have a crack at paying for what they need. And its up to us to find and support those fiscal conservative candidates, no matter the party. And if they don't do fiscal conservative every term, we toss them aside next election, no matter how much money they brought home for their state, or how good they are at finding Auntie Fascists' (inside joke there) lost Social Security check.

That's because when some leftist hollywierd bunko jumps on spouting their illogical crud, people's noses wrinkle from the stench.

Everyone, in their right mind, responds favorably to commonsense, which is what Nelson was speaking.

Spitz, there's a difference between people (even celebrities) making statements based on what they research/understand about the federal govt, and what people say along the lines of trying to force changing govt away from what is defined in the US Constitution.

Mr. Nelson stated, in his own unique way, he's being taxed without proper representation,. which is a complete 180 from what the constitution requires.

The suffering thing is that Gov. Arnold was on the Leno show (last night i think?) stating that he was going to have to make some drastic cuts… and then then next thing I heard on the news was that he's asking for federal funds instead?

Glen went live online after that show. He said Craig wasn't even on to discuss this topic. He started it, and Glen just went with it. I thought that was a very interesting tidbit. And, I immediately told the producer to contact Big Hollywood. Glad I did. Keep it up, Craig.

then work the hell out of your expense writeoffs

I will add that it is much easier if you have a business to writeoff of furniture, electronics and other living expenses as business deductions

your car expense will pay your car – ramp it up – make the irs catch it

I have done this for over 25 years, been audited once and paid them $1,500 for disallowed entertainment expense

dont pay taxes above and beyond what you consider reasonable

5-10% total – that is my tax burden and I make over 200,000

I may lower my taxes this year to offset my loss in freedoms from obozo
