Michael Moore: Mainstream Media Boosts Dishonesty
by Billy HallowellSomewhat fresh off the trail from despicable attempts to distort the events and facts surrounding Columbine, 9/11 and the American health care system, filmmaker Michael Moore is back to perpetuate new mis-truths and to face off with a new “villain” – capitalism. In case of shear irony, in his new film entitled, “Capitalism: A Love Story,” Moore sets out to unravel the very system that gives him notoriety, fame and, no doubt, opulence.
Fortunately for Moore, we live in a free society. Despite the fact that his films are comprised of antics and obnoxious absurdities that only small-minded Americans would believe in their totality, he has every right to continue his idiocy. It is the coverage of Moore and his half-witted films that cause one to question the media’s promotional motives.
Mainstream outlets can’t seem to get enough of Moore, as they offer him positive coverage galore and provide him with valuable air time to push his insidious projects. Meanwhile, conservative film projects receive little to no praise – or even attention, for that matter.
A few weeks back, LA Times blogger Patrick Goldstein wrote a snarky post about conservative reaction to Moore’s film. Aside from dismissive commentary about why conservatives are overreacting, Goldstein offered up what he saw as proof that not all media outlets give Moore a free pass. He wrote,
…Variety has the first authoritative review up of Moore’s film — and it hardly reads like a liberal valentine, with just as many caveats as kudos. It calls “Capitalism” one of Moore’s best films but goes on to say: “There’s still plenty here to annoy right-wingers, as well as those who, however much they agree with Moore’s politics, just can’t stomach his oversimplification, on-the-nose sentimentality and goofball japery.”
If calling the film one of Moore’s best ever qualifies as “authoritative,” I suppose journalists asking then-candidate Barack Obama how his parents would feel about his accomplishments if they were still alive qualifies as “hard-hitting investigative journalism.” And don’t even get me started on the semantic inequality present in the penning of “right-wingers” versus “those who…agree with Moore’s politics.”
How about a fact check, Goldstein? Even one? You can’t tell me there isn’t someone refuting at least one of the “facts” present in Moore’s film. It’s not just “oversimplification” that liberals and conservatives, alike, should be concerned about. Moore manipulates events and happenings and creates an aura of understanding that has the foundational value of quicksand. And that brings me to a Reuters piece (carried by none other than The New York Times) entitled, “Michael Moore’s “Capitalism” Economical With Facts.” According to the article,
…the film launches a call for socialism via a popular uprising against the evils of capitalism and free enterprise. Although it’s less focused than “Sicko” or “Fahrenheit 9/11,” this competition entry is a typical Moore oeuvre: funny, often over the top and of dubious documentation, but with strongly made points that leave viewers much to ponder and debate after they walk out of the theater.
In what other venue would a documentary, book or professional record earn the distinction of being of “dubious documentation,” while making strong points that will inspire debate and dialogue? Usually, if the basis is not founded on fact, the argument can – or should, rather – go no further.
The piece goes on to admit that Moore is not known for objectivity or “impeccable” research, and that he favors Obama as a symbol of hope in the film. Now, for the article’s a-bomb. According to Reuters,
Moore has assembled a collection of nearly unbelievable horror stories to illustrate why capitalism and democracy do not go hand in hand, like a privately owned juvenile correctional facility, which paid the local judge to jail teens for misdemeanors.
Wow.
And then there’s the Washington Post piece entitled, “For ‘Capitalism,’ Moore Sells Short Politicians of all Denominations.” The lead says it all: “Just when it looked as if conservatives might be cornering the market on angry populism, along comes Michael Moore.”
I suppose those liberals who threw bleach on delegates at the Republican National Convention were lovable Furby-like creatures – not angry populists. After all, the Republicans have apparently already dominated that market.
I could go on and on. While most American outlets covered the film’s synopsis, scope, theme, etc., many in the mainstream media failed to point out Moore’s glaring hypocrisy. How can a man who has makes millions off of his anti-American rhetoric have the audacity to make a film about the evils of capitalism? It took the gusto of a British journalist to really delve into the insanity. The Telegraph’s Will Heaven wrote the following:
Don’t be fooled by the scruffy cap and trampish demeanour. Moore is as well-to-do as the “stupid white men” which he has made millions of dollars from criticising…
Sadly for Michael Moore, many of the people that should be watching his films don’t get the joke either. He is supposed to be the champion of the oppressed, who spends his career holding the rich and famous to account. Now he’s one of them, and lapping up the lifestyle like a banker in boom time, it makes no sense.
Kudos to Heaven and The Telegraph for writing the most honest piece I’ve seen on Michael Moore’s deafening hypocrisy. While American media outlets seem encapsulated in wonder by Moore’s outlandish work, it seems the Europeans – who are typically quite receptive of his films – are onto his antics. Now, if we could only get the rest of America and the media on board the “reality express,” we’d be golden.

It's a good bet Moore owes his girth to capitalism too.
Why is it that the first thing I think about when I hear Michael Moore's name is pork rinds?
I have a nitpicky correction for you. I think you meant "sheer," not "shear" in your first paragraph.
Well what do you expect from a college drop out…
The new one hasn't gotten uniformly glowing reviews. It's a very weak film. A scattershot compedium of "things I don't like" that's suppsoedly an attack on capitalism itself but is far from it.
Of course you people need a Boogeyman, so go ahead with your pretense that Morre is more important and powerful than he actually is.

Michael Moore is so fat, after sex he smokes a ham…..
I take the meaning of "you people" to be racist! Moore is a hypocrite and a hack who loves shoving cameras into people's faces, but will run (if that's what you call an enormously fat man with a hotdog in each hand) behind human shields or a door to avoid it himself. This guy is a millionaire, benefiting from that nasty system he's trying to knock down here. When will HE give up HIS millions in protest of this unfair system? I'd bet to say never. I'll bet he'll not sell his Manhattan apartment (probably worth millions) or take his kids out of private school. He's a bogeyman not because we need to burn someone in effigy, but because HE is a hypocrite. How much of the earnings of his capitalistic movie he's giving back to the community? I'd bet none.
What do you mean "you people"??? (insert Robert Downey JR impression here)
Anyhoo, it's fun to beat up on that complete liar and it's even more fun watching liberals slobber all over themselves in their lame attempts to make him important.
You know what's important? SPELLING……
The first image makes me not want to eat the second…Thanks!
I expect that a lot of college drop outs do so because they want to actually earn money and college does get tedious after a while. Don't put down all college drop outs because of the guy that blew up Team America's hideout.
I call it the fat lying bastard diet…..
Here’s the entire Milton Friedman “Free to Choose” video series:

Save one episode, but I’m sure it’s on the net somewhere.
On a related topic, are you a real political activist?
Conservative? Want to help change things? Then get involved in the Republican Party and become a precinct committeeman! Blogging all day doesn't change much. Being able to vote for the Party leadership does. Or providing endorsements to candidates does. I was called by John McCain's campaign last night and asked to endorse him in the primary. Why? Because I'm a precinct committeeman in AZ. (Of course, I told him "No!" with lots of good reasons.)
The GOP is there for the taking by conservatives because, nationwide, half of the PC slots are vacant. It's not hard to become a PC and it takes about an hour a month of effort. The Party is split 50-50 between moderates and conservatives and at half-strength. If the vacant slots were filled overnight by conservatives, the Party would be a conservative powerhouse, with a 75 per cent majority of conservatives over moderates. Want a more conservative Republican Party? THEN JOIN IT.

Thank you.

American first, conservative second, Republican Party precinct committeeman by necessity.
Are you "full retard" or just Forrest Gump retarded?
Just curious.
I don't care about the hypocrisy angle of him getting rich via capitalism, it is annoying, but so-what really. All kinds of people I don't like get rich. It is the lie he is promoting that the little people are somehow more empowered by destroying capitalism. Capitalism is free individuals conducting voluntary transactions for goods and services as they see fit. Think about the alternative to that.
No, because it's stoooopid. It's probably some liberal's lame attempt (what other kind is there?) to race bait.
I wonder if that person paid to see the movie about Bush getting assassinated…..
So the end of the first paragraph should read:
"Moore sets out to unravel the very system that gives him notoriety, fame and, no doubt, corpulence."
Exactly……
It’s 57th state mentality, just point and laugh.
Sadly there are a lot of people with degrees who buy into this obvious BS. Too many have never read anything about our history, our founding principles and free market capitalism that was not written from or filtered through a neo-marxist, post-colonialist, post-modern viewpoint. Anti-rationality reigns supreme in academia and very few students emerge capable of properly linking reason with experience and thus very few are able to analyze any form of argument without recourse to what their feelings tell them.
The same way you libs need Rush Limbaugh as your Boogeyman?
His own editor at the crap mag "Mother Jones" in firing him called intellectually lazy and pretty much of a dumb ass. That type of college drop out deserves to be slammed. He did find a way to turn being a stupid fatt-ass into a well paying job. Gates, Dell and others were to busy being smart to finish college and I applaude them.
What gets lost in all the whining about some perceived threat to Obama is that liberals were openly advocating violence toward Bush. You had Bill "I'm a complete tool" Maher wishing death on the vice president, movies being made about GWB's assassination. I mean c'mon!!
It's just so laughable to see people like this David person go on and on about how horrible it is to wish harm on our president……
Ya, to parrot Hank-S., you people…"you people "? What kind of bigoted racist hater are you? The liberal excuse maker type?
"Morre" is fatassed hypocrite, liar that OWNED HALLIBURTON STOCK until he was EXPOSED!
Moore is SO FAT his shadow weighs 121 LBS!
Have you been contacted by the Secret service yet? Moron.
I agree somewhat tongue in cheek ToddM. K8bluejay you are throwing Moore in to a list of drop outs that begins with Bill Gates and includes many successful folks that have created jobs and goods for a large number of people. Since that list includes me tho just a tad less successful than Mr. Gates I object to the inclusion of Mr. Moore. Should you throw it out for vote please count my vote as negative. But I understand your point.
Moore calls it a "sweet irony". He's petulant pig…
Moore is so fat that one time he broke his leg and gravy poured out….
Not trying to… Though it does appear that way… I actually put in the line and later deleted "apparently not everyone can be Bill Gates"
I have some liberal friends that know Moore is a total liar, what's taking the MSM so long to figure it out??
One of the most famous dropouts of all on the right , Rush Limbaugh.
College is like everything else in this world, its only as good as you care to make it.
A resume enhancer without a doubt.
That actually happened at my University…. let's just say that a Freshmen learned really quick that Freedom of Speech is not absolute…. especially when it comes to talking about a sitting President…

That's an insult to swine everywhere….
Scientists have found military designed nano thermite in every dust sample taken from the debris of the 9/11 attacks. It proves building demolition. Thank goodness for cowards like the author of this article that he can be a liar and make a living.
agreed!
He didn't qualify that MM had sex with anyone else…
Billy,
Just to be clear, you're a coward; and everyone in your life regardless of how vocal they are about it, knows it. You are a disgrace.
Any of you people who can identify even a small portion of your belief system with a single word are totally moronic. I.E., left/right, liberal/conservative, black/white, cop/criminal. You should be embarrassed by the depth of your stupidity, and the fact that you are not embarrassed makes you a dangerous yet easily defeated enemy.
Because the mainstream media has gone full retard. It's the Simple Jack media!
http://www.debunking911.com/thermite.htm
I'm embarrassed by the depth of your stupidity… Does that count?
Do you have any evidence of said cowardice or do you just like to call people names? What is more cowardice? Writing an article and posting it on a site for all to read and critique or posting comments under a pseudonym?
They muh-muh-muh-make me saaaaaad…..
If he knocked democrats, would he even sell at all? Good thing those rich Democrats can afford his crap.
I know this has nothing to do with Capitalism but,,,,,,,,,, Now that we know, dinosaurs became feathered birds…..THEY FOUND THE MISSING LINK,……..You need to get right on that Michael. Good grief. Do these people ever listen to themselves?
. I was created by intelligent design myself, but for those who descended from apes….behold,,,Michael Moore could be your missing link…
It isn't a real thread unless we get some truther nonsense!!
The tin foil hat brigade must be sleeping in today….
I love that movie and never get tired of watching it. Probably the only good one Jack Black made. Other than the one where Bruce Willis blew him in half.
Do they really ever get up before noon anyway?
I wonder if he gets half off his next tin foil hat purchase by posting this crapola??
You really are a meany and need to find your lithium.
They do seem to become partisan hacks, don't they. See Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity. Not a single college course passed among the whole bunch.
(Of course Bill Gates dropped out of college too, but at least there is common agreement that he could have easily completed his Harvard degree if he wasn't so focused on his passion for computer software).
There you go posting evidence and everything…..I think this particular dolt just posts a bunch of idiocy and then leaves. Much like a monkey flinging his poop, but less impressive….
Michael Moore has a passing and tenuous relationship with the truth and the facts in all of his films. Sins of ommision are a form of lying.
Nut job! PLS define nano thermite is it a thing or something you read in a comic book? Did Mikey Moore tell you about it, or was it Van Jones?
I have said that exact thing about Jack Black. He's to be taken in very small doses. That being said everything was hilarious in Tropic Thunder including Tom Cruise.
Well, they do make my eyes rain.
That's a good point.
Also another one with the "you people"!! This is massive racism!!!
Only if an ape mated with a hippo at some point.
The most disturbint thing about this article and especially the comments is that I cought myself agreeing with the Huffington post! What's up with that? It's almost as bad as catching myself agreeing with old Momar from Lybia "That the UN should be moved out of the United States" Good ridance!
Ed – I think fat Mike is kind of like a poor man's Ralph Nader. Maybe the first time around, people actually believed him, but by now, he is the obnoxious loser who cries "wold."
Ed – I think fat Mike is kind of like a poor man's Ralph Nader. Maybe the first time around, people actually believed him, but by now, he is the obnoxious loser who cries "wolf."
I called this Seagull posting. Swoop in, make a bunch of noise while crapping all over eveything and everyone and then flying off.
That was the Jackal. An awesome movie.
That was the Jackal. An awesome movie. I also liked him in Kung-fu Panda because you dont have to look at him.
Now, did he have sex with the ham first? I can't imagine him doing the deed with a willing woman.
Now I'm going to have to skip Monday Night Football and watch Simple Jack.
He's a megalomaniac. Roger & Me was a decent flick. I'd watch it again, but it never seems to be in the rotation on cable TV. Moore was smart enough to ket the story do the talking, and his presence feels minimal.
But for some reason he seems to believe the reason Roger & Me wasn't a bigger success was because there wasn't enough of him in it. Now his films remind me more of my daughter when she was 3. "Look at me Daddy, look at me! Look Daddy, look at me!"
Remember, it was David Ehrenstein that wrote the "Barack the Magic Negro" article a while back. He's very multi-cultural. Right David?
I think that was "The Jackal" Not a top ten film, but it had it's high points.
I was thinking the same thing….
How about a system that also cares for the sick, the elderly, the dying, the disabled?
Our "free market economy" has always provided the wealthy industrialists with bailouts and government handouts to protect their interests in the face of "bad market conditions". There once was a time when taxpayer dollars were used to send federal troops to force people to work instead of allowing them to use the free market to negotiate their own wages and living conditions. And even now, when bankers purchased credit default swaps on mortgage securities (a form of insurance), and then discovered that the people they purchased the insurance from couldn't pay (namely AIG), they all clamored to be literally given money from the federal treasury to compensate them for their bad bets in the free market.
Somalia seems to have a good working free market economy, where anyone with a little motivation and a machine gun, can make a good living.
Perhaps we should contact the ACLU and go after this racist pig.
I don't have time to educate fools. Ever heard of the internet? When you want to provide a link disproving the FACT that scientists throughout the world have found military nano thermite in every dust sample collected, feel free to provide it. Or better yet, keep on being a coward, I am betting that is what you have planned. Your ignorance of the facts does not change reality, it only proves your ignorance and cowardice.
a good blueprint for proper political activism…
We recommend the same policy for Democrats. The party wasn't always communist loons. Take them back as well. But remember, at the top both parties are corrupt and want basically the same thing- absolute power and indentured servitude. Just a matter of whether you want the quick noose (Democrats) or slow suffocation
(Repubs).
Pick your poison. But by ALL means let them know you, ahem, disapprove…
Love that picture of the rusty bridge with the sign. The exact reason why the Detroit area is a slum is because of people, who think just like Michael "Fatty Foods" Moore. They've destroyed the area. It's not been capitalism, but socialism that's killed what would otherwise be a very nice area of the country.
Your real name isn't Mork, is it? I, myself have planned the complete takeover of the entire world!!!! You caught me, and us in our secret internet lair!
You didn't mention the flouride in the water.
Yes, in Moore's world, that's called recycling….
I think this person, as well as the other one posting above are just cutting and pasting from a liberal talking points website. No need to contact theACLU, we'll just get their parents to block the website…..
Wow. Getting inbred white losers with 2" fully erect, to bite on breitbart comments requires very little bait. I underestimated how idiotic you people really are. I proceeded to identify the definition of moronic and the essence of stupidity and you whackos attacked the bait hungrily and instinctively like the blue gills you are. Of course your comments lacked substance of any kind, and contained only the acceptance of your identified stupidity. Bravo! I'll be sending you all your moron buttons immediately, you should have them in a week or so. Your sisters are all waiting in the tool shed boys. Get that 2 inches ready!!!
Truther nonsense. Whoa, that is one hell of an argument. Coward. And by the way, I'm white moron, what race am I being racist towards exactly. Sister=tool shed.
Actually, dumb-dumb, someone posted a link above disproving your tinfoil hat theory.
Why don't you post a link that PROVES anything you've said? Or are you that far gone from the neck up? Or are you just here because you think you're rattling someone's cage? Either way, you're monkeynut crazy….good luck with the lithium……
what, the Hell does that mean?
"the FACT that scientists throughout the world have found military nano thermite in every dust sample "
I'm a vet, follow defense issues regularly, and have never heard of anything even remotely as gonzo huh, as this.
Parody I'm missing? or is this just web based make stuff up and scream fact while accusing everybody of being in on the cover up day?
LMAO
Ok for the cowards that cannot type the words nano thermite into a search engine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_tf25lx_3o
And by the way, the clap trap above proves nothing. The people who painted the World Trade Center did not use highly incendiary paint as primer on all the steel that went into building the towers. You're not a scientist you're simply a fool.
I'm going with option B….
Moore is a genius at one thing, making self righteous inbreds believe they're "special" over mere humans for believing his horsesh*t. They breathlessly go back to see his films a dozen times, doffing the tinfoil chapeau with the extra special anti-rethuglican mind reading beanie propeller on top.
To say you find Moore a serious thinker and critic of American culture, is to say,.
You really are a dolt, and you need help to keep you from eating your school paste, as it's so creamy and yummy looking.
I think we all agree Moore is looney fringe with virtually no following. The part worthy of note, is the main liberal media culture refuses to criticise him to any real degree. They'll bash Palin, go nuts about Beck, hang themselves over O'Reilly,.. and they're mainstream,. right to libertarian, but mainstream..
but leftwing?.. you can shoot JFK in America,. defect to the USSR, and still the idiot left media either leaves that part out, or falsely claims he was rightwing.
it's not Moore,
it's the leftwing media that enables him, that is the danger.
You're a white moron? THAT I believe.
You keep using the word coward. I do not think it means what you think it means….(Insert Inigo Montoya impression here)
PLEASE! This is the same media that has Ann Coulter on a lot! Moore and Coulter are agents provocateurs. They stimulate both extremely positive and negative reactions, which equals RATINGS. Kwitcherbitchen, as Ann Landers would say.
See, I would've gone with off-white moron, maybe taupe or eggshell moron….
What does this have to do with Michael Moore?
I figured it out!!! He's a white moron truther, it HAS to be Charlie Sheen….
Try typing Niels Harrit in Google and see how many links come up explaining that he's a nitwit. Even truthers are pissed at him derailing the "truth movement" with his nonsense….From a truther website:
http://willyloman.wordpress.com/2009/08/02/niels-...
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that your gene pool is pretty shallow….
Yeah and there are a lot of white card-carrying conservative Republicans who are out of work in MICH. Way to broad-brush a group of people! Hey, if you want to forego the votes of Northeastern blue collar whites, along with Latinos and blacks, be my guest. I'll say one thing about "W", he wasn't a racist. In 2000 and 2004, a lot of blacks and Latinos actually voted GOP.
9/11 truthers appear like ants at both liberal and conservative picnics (websites). Time to get out the RAID!
Moore actually trashed a few Democrats in his film, like Chris Dodd. This ought to be useful in any efforts to unseat Dodd.
Not true. Free market economics is now the prominent theory represented by professors and course work in US economics and finance departments.
AGREED. Whatever you think of their respective politics, both Limbaugh and Moore are extremely bright. Glenn Beck, however, could not have finished college even if he had all of our guns pointed at his head.
Who let this insane person out? At least have him on a leash.
Nothing he just felt like hijacking a thread. He's not very bright, and comes off like a small dull child. If this is what passes for liberal intelligence then boy are they in trouble….
One thing you never hear about democrats -philanthropy. If he felt so guilty about the "system" he should donate all the PROFITS to charity.
That may be true in economics related departments but in the Humanities and other similar fields, the vast majority of professors embody the viewpoints that I described earlier. Political science, international studies, philosophy, history, you name it, and they all generally eschew any form of true logic in favor of pseudo-philosophies that allow any type of subjective viewpoint. Thus the lessons we learn from history and experience have no validity in the modern era because those events and the knowledge of their times are seen merely as constructs of certain cultures and not applicable to other cultures and modernity. Theory, untested by historical experience, is seen as an acceptable way to determine policy.
Liberals don't throw bleach at Republican delegates, nihilists do. At the time of the Democratic Convention in 1968, these distinctions were still observed. As Michael Moore insightfully remarked in an interview several years ago, "I hate liberals." I haven't seen "Capitalism," but I hope Moore is getting back to the style that made him famous, displayed in "Roger and Me" and "Pets or Meat," the kind of movie that inspired real people living in real hard times to thank him for "telling our story." I was bored by Bowling for Columbine and never saw Fahrenheit 911 — although I was looking forward to the Bollywood musical version advertised in The Onion. I didn't find "Sicko" very appealing either. If a movie is going to comment incisively on what's wrong with our health care system, let's have a good Second Amendment movie, like that one where Denzel Washington held the entire hospital hostage to get his son an operation. Moore couldn't have made that movie, not after pussy footing around with "Columbine."
I fart in your general direction. You father smelled of eldeberries and your mother was hamster!
How the hell did someone sneak 10 tons of anything up nearly 100 stories? Cuckoo!
By the time one gets to their freshman year in high school, if they haven't learned all that they need for a well rounded liberal education, (in this world with the internet, television, radio, music and much more travel then was ever dreamed of when a liberal arts degree was considered necessary for a 'well rounded person), then you probably shouldn't be in a liberal arts program but a technical program. Most college drop outs are far more intellectually honest then their peers who remained in school and jumped through what ever hoops their professors demanded, to get their degrees. These people who wouldn't swallow the Kool-Aid to get their degrees continue reading and researching for the whole lives. They have no laurels on which to rest. They tend to be excellent American citizens, able to fulfill all the requirements asked by our constitutional government. Independent financially and emotionally.
Of course there are always the people, like Michael Moore who are neither intellectually honest, nor, at least, 'educated'. Moore's type also had a name in the days when going to College for a Liberal Arts Degree was the open door to high society and excellent business opportunities; and that was 'snake oil salesman'.
As an aside I would also add that so many people now hold degrees that the exceptionalism for what it once stood, is no longer. It's just another institution that has become completly spoiled by government meddling. Harvard it self, has become and institution for higher tax free, but not influence free, gifts. Rather than any intellectual honesty, it is so encumbered it's vast financial influences, that entire programs like the medical school are compromised by the amount of influence the pharmaceutical companies have bought.
Why do endowed universities get tax breaks that other corporations don’t get in the first place?
If you think of Harvard as a corporation, it had an income statement in FY 2007 with about $2.2 billion of revenues (tuition, sponsored research contracts, and so on) and about $3.2 billion of expenses, and therefore had to move about $1 billion from the endowment to make up the difference in order to run at basically break-even. In other words, it’s a big institution, but hey, it doesn’t make any money and has to survive on the kindness of donors, even if these donations are channeled through an endowment.
But this isn’t quite the whole picture. The overall Harvard corporation gets to make money through investment returns on its endowment (or, more precisely, the General Investment Account, which currently includes about $6 billion of investable assets in operational accounts in addition to the $34 billion endowment) that doesn’t get reported as revenue. Last year, Harvard made more than $7 billion of tax-free investment income.
I am sure that the Michael Moore crowd can agree that our education system from pre-school all the way up to doctorates is not a capitalistic system. It is what you get when people like Moore get into political influence and want to 'fix' capitalism. Believing that they are better able to choose what should be 'helped' along better than the market. This same lack of structural understanding is why they really have no idea how the environment truly works. If they did they would never have associated with 'cap and tax'.
Definitely sounds like projection. He must be typing while looking at his reflection. The details give it away.
Since BH has become part of my daily routine and I want it to continue I will not say anything negative about Mr.Beck, in fact, I applaud his efforts in the Van Jones, Acorn and NEA exposure. I will say a lot of Harvard MBAs are now unemployed X CEOs of defunct or severely
altered businesses. So whether or not you finish or even go to college is in some cases
can be a coin flip. If your smart enough to figure that out successfully you were probably smart enough to graduate college anyway.
oh, you're one of..
those..
Good Lord, I can't stand truthers,. only met one in the real world, and after planting him in front of the PC, and making him read the many many many thousands of experts who say the truthers are making things up with the added bonus of lying about who supports them…
he came away rattled that he'd never thought anyone would be lying bout this…
YA THINK!.
I retrieved one from yer ranks, and I'll find more, he was a kid, only 18, what's your excuse?

Go slip on a razor blade. You offer nothing of substance in your post, because you're nothing but a coward.

Refute that, douche bag.
YA THINK! I think everyone in your life knows you are a cowardly little prick, yeah, I do.
The main steam media is too busy pumping up Obama for their big bail out, then to worry about those old 4th estate responsibilities. They are already in Obam's pocket, ready at a moments notice to be his tool. As Andrew Breitbart declared “The era of big media is over. You’re the media now. The American people are the 4th estate!” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drzDlkDa2Bo
the biggest problem with Moore's message is- Moore himself…
Even the liberal left is somewhat ashamed (as much as is possible for the shameless) of Moore and his demagoguery. His posturing and propagandizing, and refusal to allow any counterpoint actually hurts his cause.
He really only appeals to the most devout of Kool-Aid afficianados.
He rails against capitalism but is personally ALL about the money, which he craves. Personally socialism doesn't appeal to HIM. Ergo his fans, who envison themselves as the elites.
Not 'useless eaters' as the ignoble Henry Kissinger says. No, socialism and rationed health care is good for all-
EXCEPT them…
"You People"? I think you, David, are guilty of profiling and projecting. We have all the Boogeymen needed…"you people" on the left aren't much good at anything else…certainly not actually governing or producing anything of value.
Michael Moore is a hypocrite, that is the point of this…it's not a review of his 'film'.
Just which variety of this experimental metastable intermolecular composite were used on 9/11? Aluminium-molybdenum oxide? Aluminium-copper oxide? Perhaps you really meant Thermobaric explosives were used? Or pehaps you're an asshat that doesn't know $h!t about anything?
Thermobaric technology and most nano thermite MIC orndance must be detonated ABOVE the target…they also produce a mushroom cloud very high above the destruction.
Go take your meds and don't mess with those smarter than you…which includes my teapot.
He went full retard! Never go full retard!
Yet another dip$hit who attended the Rosie O'Donnell School of Science and Logic.
rightisdead, you're wasting your already-scarce mental resources. You know, if you idiots were right about 9/11 "truth," as you call it, the government would've come after you big time before now. In fact, if they want to come after you right now, they have my permission, and that's really saying something, considering i'm a civil libertarian from hell (not to mention a right-wing extremist, I've recently learned).
It's the merger of Capitalism (Corporations) and Government this is at the heart of the problem, some people (Benito Mussolini) have called it Corporatism, others call it Fascism. Whatever name you call it, we have it (corporate campaign contributions anyone?), and it's a big problem. I think Moore touches on some of the issues, but does not get right to the core of where the really big problems are.
Moore is so fat if you streched out his intestines they would reach out for 47 miles.
Michael Moore is a what I call just educated enough to pose a danger to society by reason he has enough cash to spread his ill thought out ideas. Millions of well meaning people can be influenced by the dope he spreads.
This is dangerous at a time capitalism is under assault as it goes through one of its adjustments to excess. It is doubly so when the Fringe Media does nothing to report about Moore's outlandish stretching of facts, or as is the case in this movie, fraud. In the early 1930's dangerous ambitious men were able to point at America's depression as a failure of capitalism, and gather just enough support to establish radical dictatorships in Italy, Germany, and elsewhere. Today its Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and several others, aided and abetted by this fat self centered promoter of marxism. He ignores nearly a billion people who have died at socialism's hands by force, or its deadly economic effects that continue in Africa to this day.
Combine Moorism with Obama's muddling foreign policy, dithering on Afghanistan, while flying off to advocate for Chicago to get the games. A clear and present danger, while we are in the fight for our lives against forces that could destroy western civilization in reasonably short order. In 1933 Hitler had to develop enough force to threaten the world. At first NAZI planners did not want to start a war until 1945 when they amassed enough build up to defeat the United States. Today Ahmadinejad once he gets his hand on a fission based nuke, can deploy a high yield fusion assist warhead either by missile, or Hamas, to any point on the globe inside of a year.
A moral argument could be made to arrest Moore and try him for crimes against humanity…
Moore doesn't get fat on capitalism. He owes some degree of success on the very corporatism that he attacks.
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/john-carney-goldma…” target=”_blank”>http://www.businessinsider.com/john-carney-goldma…
Even Arianna Huffington acknowledges that, although she praises the film.
"In capitalism as envisioned by its leading lights, including Adam Smith and Alfred Marshall, you need a moral foundation in order for free markets to work. And when a company fails, it fails. It doesn't get bailed out using trillions of dollars of taxpayer money. What we have right now is Corporatism. It's welfare for the rich. It's the government picking winners and losers. It's Wall Street having their taxpayer-funded cake and eating it too. It's socialized losses and privatized gains."
<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/…” target=”_blank”>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/…
I know I keep repeating myself, but definitions matter and by vilifying "capitalism", but describing corporatism, he deflects the issue. He wishes to promote the socialism/corporatism that he knows too well how to game for his personal benefit, by vilifying it and calling it "capitalism" all at the same time. After all, if we reject capitalism, anarchy, and complete Marxism (no government, shared wealth, etc), which are what Moore's intentions are, what remains is the socialism he attacks on the one hand and calls capitalism, and on the other hand is what benefits him.
Good thing you went into journalism and not comedy writing, Ehrenstein.
You could speak at the WH Correspondents Dinner with jokes like those, though!
Another thing, if you get your talking points from Facebook polls, you're a moron of the highest order.
Yeah…David, did you take the kill Bush poll? Just curious. Were you concerned with the books and movies, daily barage of degrading or anti-Bush rhetoric coming from the enlightened class (liberals)?
Have you been contacted by the Secret Service yet? Moron. One click and you get "visited". Remember that.
I know Bill Gates was a college drop out… But there are college drop outs that do so because they aren't getting anything from college because either they are not interested or they are learned what they wanted and decided to go their own paths… however, then there are some that are like Michael Moore that are just complete and utter morons and probably just droped out because they didn't get it… :/
BTW: My dad was also a college drop out, but he did so because he learned all he wanted (as far as college courses is concerned) and then went on with his life…
Ok let me get this straight. Once again America is suppose to take the advice of a guy who dropped out of college after a year. And now the idiot wants to decry the evils of Capitalism to other idiots by making a movie and selling tickets to go see it for over 10 bucks each.
Am I the only one that see's the irony of this? "Let me tell you how evil Capitalism is, it will only cost you ten bucks to find out."
Shouldn't we all demand to see the movie for free? Not like I want to hear what this douche bag thinks but the principle should be to not charge for this information.
Cuckoo! Does anyone hear the clock going off? Out "truther" loon of the day!
You really got us genius. We know when we've been outthunked!
Step away from the ledge…Or maybe not. Someone got up on the wrong side of the padded cell today.
What are you talking about? There's a difference between voters and politicians. The one's who've killed the economy in the Detroit area have been the Democrats. Including the economically challenged governor. Look at the cities/areas with the most economic problems – they're blue. So you tell me why broad-brushing people who keep voting in the very people who are destroying their communities, over and over is a bad thing? I would hope they would wake up and see that they are in a sinking ship and the captains have been Democrats. So should the GOP buy votes like Democrats who promise more government handouts or give those blue-collar, blacks and latinos opportunities? Do you realize that latinos and blacks are conservative for the most part, which makes me scratch when they continually vote Democrat.
9/11 truther-guy and Rosie O'Donnell share similar scientific training and ideological bents. What's the one significant difference between 9/11 truther-guy and Rosie O'Donnell?
Rosie O'Donnell has actually kissed a girl.
Today I stopped a professor (and lawyer) in mid-rant about Bush "lying" about WMD's. I just so happened to have some research about who said what when about Iraq and WMD's. I raised my hand and asked to read a quote. He said, "fine", so I read a quote that was all hawky about getting Saddam and curtailing his weapons programs, then I asked the class who spoke the statement I read. Most said Bush, the rest didn't know. It was Bill Clinton in 1998. I sat down, case closed, professor quiet.
…says the anonymous troll.
I find it annoying that TNT has chosen to spotlight this new Moore film. There I am, enjoying a show, when, wham! A TNT sponsored special moment type ad rolls across the screen. Filled with made-up, mindless junk. Couldn't they push another one of their shows in that time instead of this malarkey?
It is just a movie, folks. All you have to do is, ya know, NOT GO TO THE MOVIE.
If you have not seen the movie, your comments are just meaningless pap.
Here's the thing, though – Michael Moore makes money when people buy tickets to see his movies.
He does not throw other people out of jobs to do that.
And he is not selling shoddy merchandise under false pretenses, because anyone who goes to a Michael Moore movie not knowing what to expect is an idiot and deserves to lose their $5-$10.
He is not selling tickets and then not showing the movie because the audience has attended some other movie (shout-out to insurance basterds).
Y'all are not the thought police, it is just a movie; what the heck are you so worked up about?
Make your own movie about the glories of outsourcing jobs and paying CEOs millions of dollars even when they run a company into the ground, throwing people out of work!
I am always amazed when republicans get all pissy about liberals making money, though.
Your strongest arguement is a weak ad hominem attack.
Here is an excerpt from the Wolf Blitzer interview of Michael Moore on CNN:
http://rawstory.com/2009/09/michael-moore-wolf-bl...
“Let’s talk about…most people who are going to see this movie who don’t like you are going to say, ‘you know what, Michael Moore has done pretty well in this free-market, capitalist system—you’ve become a fairly rich guy yourself.’ ” states Blitzer.
After Moore asks for the names of people who don’t like them, so he can ‘invite them to dinner,’ he continues with “Why am I against capitalism if I’ve done so well? Shouldn’t the question be better put—I’m not trying to do your job for you—but wouldn’t the question better be, ‘gee Mike, you’ve done so well, why don’t you just kick back at the lake and enjoy your life. Why do you care about people losing their healthcare and their jobs and all that…you’re not losing yours…I wonder if there was a Wolf Blitzer 200 years ago who asked Thomas Jefferson or John Adams or George Washington, ‘hey, you know, you guys are wealthy land owners…’”
"… horror stories to illustrate why capitalism and democracy do not go hand in hand, like a privately owned juvenile correctional facility, which paid the local judge to jail teens for misdemeanors."
Because we all know corruption can never, ever happen between government bureaucrats, or the heads of state owned factories, or any other arm of the government, ever. No sir.
Stupid, provincial liberal rubes have no idea how the underground economy in socialism works.
I knew a guy who studied in Bucharest, Romania, when it was still communist. Because of relatives in the free world, he had access to Western-brand cigarettes, which he used to bribe the professors. Moral? Beware of dentists with a degree from Romania.
All you need to know is that the modern liberal, as opposed to the old-style liberals which are now almost extinct, hates society. Their advocacy and their actions only make sense if you remember that they hate society. They hate every tradition, every value, every group of people that anchors society and impedes progress. They hate the middle class because it upholds "the system". They hate the little guy unless he provides fodder for propaganda.
Most of all they hate people who come up with incremental solutions that might improve the current system instead of destroying it. They do not want to debate the merits of HSAs with George W. Bush. For them, there is no downside to bankrupting the system. The point is not whether Sicko was "appealing" or not. The point is that people like Moore want to replace a flawed but working system with an inhuman system. And yes, I have been to Cuba and anyone who praises their health care isn´t worth a damn.
So, of course Moore hates liberals. So did Lenin.
We will find some thermites in your brain, that´s for sure. I know because I read it on the internet.
that because philanthropic enterprises are capitalistic in nature…
Virtually all liberals are statists. It's the government- not their- responsibility to deal with the less fortunate. Thus you have the dichotomy between people of faith who give what they can, and people of no faith who feel no such obligation. Sad but true…
No one dares argue with the intellectual purity of YouTube!

Hallowell….you are a journalist in about the same sense that a tape worm is a proctologist….replete with your effete, erudite sounding and trendy little yuppie cliches….they don't impress anyone and you didn't raise one solitary valid point against Michael Moore……whom, by the way, I flatly and wholesomely distrust, but not because of any of the petulent flatus issuing from main sewer stream maggots like you. Anyone who has been around the block on foot knows damned full well that the easiest way to monger a bald faced LIE is to coat it with the truth or with half-truths…..and no one is more profitably aware of this than the mattoidal and sociopathic oligarchs who run your precious Glittering Ghetto of Hollywood.
Any nation that has submerged so low in the raw sewage of its own corruption that those who seek the truth in SPITE of either you OR Michael Moore are libeled and slandered and derogated publicly with such names as "truthers" is a nation that should go straight to Hell in a pan of its own grease…..I demand the honest truth about 9/11 among many other coups against the American people by fedgov…..does that make me a "bad American"???…tell you what…anyone on this thread who wants to accuse me to my face of being "disloyal" for seeking the truth about 9/11 to a CommonLaw jury in federal court, step right up….I am ready to walk out the door and meet you there NOW. ….when they pass a "law" that prohibits us from being "politically incorrect", then I will consider it the single highest honor of my life to go down on record and in history of being PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE. That good enough for you, Mr. Tripe-Monger Tinsel Town trash columnist?…or is that CALUMnist?
Moore should do a film on Media Malpractice in the US. It's a very jiucy peach with lots of villains and connect-the-dots issues for him to wiork with.
Unfortunately he works for them.
Disloyal? Nahhhhh.
Insane? Just about for sure.
Ah, so you and Lenin have something in common too. At least that means Moore is something other than a liberal. Gladstone would have recognized Ronald Reagan as a fellow liberal. What you are describing, once again, are nihilists. I for one have had three years on an employer-funded medical plan which has so many tangled pathways to what is or isn't covered, and which I'm sure the insurance company is making out like bandits on, not to mention their impudent chicanery on whether a deductible has been met or not, that I am definitely in favor of a wholesale overhaul. No government bureaucracy could treat me any worse, although on a single-payer plan, it might be little better. I would like to see EVERY proposal piled into one omnibus bill, then each of us can CHOOSE whichever option we want. I would actually choose a high-deductible plan with an HSA. I am no fan of GWB, but it would work for me, and keep premiums down. Most years, I could roll over most of the money, unspent. But it may not be everyone's choice, or even good for everyone. I can't agree with you on "the middle class." A majority of "the middle class" has decided the last several elections, including Clinton and Obama as well as GWB.
Michael Moore? Did he make Miami Vice? or was he the Lone Ranger?
I don´t hate liberals; I hate modern liberals or "progressives". Not my fault that they´re called that. And that´s what Moore is.
Yes, the ownership society is the way to go.
