Politicians Share Personality Traits With Who?
by Bosch FawstinFrom an LA Times story:
“…..Violent homicide aside, our elected officials often show many of the exact same character traits as criminal nut-jobs, who run from police but not for office.
Kouri [the man behind the study] notes that these criminals are psychologically capable of committing their dirty deeds free of any concern for social, moral or legal consequences and with absolutely no remorse.
“This allows them to do what they want, whenever they want,” he wrote. “Ironically, these same traits exist in men and women who are drawn to high-profile and powerful positions in society including political officeholders.”

Indeed, politicians can be some of the biggest sociopaths out there. case in point, among the many democrats that voted for cap and trade, there were 8 republicans that went for it too. The vote of these 8 RINOs, if they were true conservatives, would have been enough to defeat said bill with the 44 dems that voted against it. And here we see the REAL reason the democrats were able to seize control. The RINO's gave it to them.
I guess the only differences are the skeletons hanging in there closets???
I don't think this is going to come as a surprise to most people.
John Wayne Gacy was a die hard democrat…………..Even ran for political office in Chicago………….Just thought I'd toss that out there……………
Huh…. that makes perfect sense… :/
Whom.
Sorry. I can't help myself.
Love your art!
The quest for power is a sociopathic trait. See : http://tinyurl.com/cgbnrj
Which doesn't mean that you have to be a sociopath to want to be President., it's just that the culture has made the path to power so humiliating and painful that now mainly dysfunctional people will seek to attain it. Consider Sarah Palin. Would you go through what her and her family has gone through to be President?
Rand Simberg points out that Fred Thompson has shown a truly laid back approach to campaigning for President, as if he really doesn't care to go through the mill. Which in my book moves him into the "my favorite candidate" slot. A fairly normal, but talented individual who doesn't have a deep psychological need to control my life.
Charles Lucky Luciano the Ruthless NY Gangster was once asked, If He had the chance to do it all over again would He . He said NO I'd become a Politician… It's a License to Steal. That from a Thief and a Hitter who bought and sold more than his share of Politico's . I have more Respect for Luciano than most of the Fools in either Party today, at least Luciano was honest. He knew who and what He was. That's more than I can say for this present bunch of Clowns.
It certainly isn't about values and beliefs anymore is it?
The first reaction I had to this post was to remember Scott Peck's book, People of the Lie. Sociopaths and politicians seem to be adept liars. Here are a few thoughts from a book review that seem tie into the article:
If you have ever experienced or been frustrated by people who seem to have a hidden agenda then you will enjoy and benefit from this book. The author states (some are paraphrased) and explains the following:
1. The evil hide their motives with lies.
2. Evil people want to appear to be good.
3. When confronted by evil, the wisest and most secure adult will usually experience confusion.
4. Evil seeks to discourage others to think for themselves (fosters dependency).
5. To oppose evil we must have an ongoing dedication to reality at all cost.
become a Politician… It's a License to Steal.
And they prove it every day.
values? beliefs? what are they?
shocker
Something that completely escapes most politicians.
Amen. Need We Say More.
I've always been suspect of those who seek a high profile. Everybody has biases, so I guess that's mine.

One of those Republican's (and I use that loosely with Kirk) belongs to us in Illinois. For some reason Illinois politicians (R or D) can never do the right thing. He made his choice, so he's done here. He was talkng of running for BH0's vacant seat, but he just slit his own throat with this move.
I'd just like to know what "Favor" he got from the White House that was good enough to Sell Out Illinois!?!?
Do Politicians eat their young? I think so….
I heard somewhere that "All killers are sociopaths, but not all sociopaths are killers." Oh yeah, some sociopaths are politicians.
such words of truth indeed
Not surprised to hear that actually. I found the list of 8 over at the Conservatives 4 Palin site. I can't imagine what they were thinking. But I would estimate that you are correct; each must have been promised something very big for their vote.
Indeed, Luciano showed more patriotism in his little finger that most politicians out there.
"[T]he proper study of man is anything but man; and the most improper job of any man, even saints (who at any rate were at least unwilling to take it on), is bossing other men. Not one in a million is fit for it, and least of all those who seek the opportunity. And at least it is done only to a small group of men who know who their master is. The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop."
–J.R.R. Tolkien
Anybody else ever wonder if we would have better politicians if we simply drafted them from the citizens using a lottery?
"Number 987-65-4321, Lilian Jones, you are a US Representative for the next two years! Good Luck!"
http://www.mozzsticks.com much funnier…sorry
Interesting, but people hardly come here just for a quick laugh. Unless they are a troll. Then they end up giving us lots of quick laughs.
I always thought people became politicians because they were incapable of finding work anywhere else. Unfortunately, by the time Pres. Obama is through with his "hope and change" legislation, only the politicians will have jobs.
Bill Buckley once said he'd rather be governed by the first two hundred names in the Boston White Pages.
Yeah, as far as I am concerned, Kirk is done. Absolute betrayal to his constituency for a super cozy relationship with Capo Obama. Since I am So. Ill., I can't even e-mail the b*$tard. It won't do any good, but I am giving Turban-Durbin both barrels by mail, in preparation for the Senate vote. Illinois politics really $uck. The only reason I am still here is my military pay in non-taxable…..and I live in a paid-off home on a lake……and I spent too much time building those .50 cal positions, so that I could bring fire to all……whoop, never mind.
I remember……………….*groan*. I know the Coorections Officer that saw him on a daily basis at Menard.
Agreed absolutely. It's the reason I generally dislike all poiticians, regardless of party affiliation. I always feel weird after I talk to one. My parents deal with them all the time and I don't understand it. Then again, they don't fully understand me, either……:-)
big time plus one!
and the answer is:
The current Congress of the United States…………..
they gave it up…too many transfats.
I'm very sorry for your friend. That man truly was evil incarnate……….
Stay where your at! Southern Illinois is a great place. We'll get this dump of a state cleaned up yet………..besides I hear settin' up and knockin' down a 50's is a pain in the a**…….
You don't say? Just take a look at the William Jefferson's and Barney Franks of our glorious group of legislators and it's not too hard to believe this line of thinking. Hiding $90k in a freezer and actually standing before a set of microphones with a straight face and deny you know anything about it? Really? Barney Frank claiming ignorance about a former gay porn actor living in his house running a gay prostitution ring? Really? …….The list just keeps growing and growing……
The only practical solution to this is placing severe limitations on state power, such as the Federalism Amendment.
And a citizenry armed to the teeth.
We HAVE severe limits placed on the federal government in the Constitution. You can write any provision you want , but if your law schools are full of deconstructionists , if there is a compliant media, and if the people are ignorant, it will not stand. For the Left, the Constitution is something to evade or a text to mutilate for propaganda purposes, nothing more. They do not recognize any transcendent standard.
…which makes your comment about an armed citizenry spot on.
When Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he answered, "Because that's where the money is." Psychopaths find their way into politics, business, law, law enforcement, and other positions of leadership because that's where the power is, and you can also find articles out there about the psychopaths in business. What lets psychopaths get away with it is that people don't want to believe that another person could have no conscience and not feel guilty about doing bad things to others but that's exactly how psychopaths are. A good article explaining how a psychopath thinks here: http://www.hare.org/links/saturday.html
A mistake that conservatives make, in my opinion, is assuming that only state power needs to be limited. The unrestricted concentration of power is bad, regardless of whether it's concentrated in government, corporations, or wealthy individuals.
Does "armed to the teeth" mean armed up to the teeth or up to and including the teeth? If it's the latter, I'm thinking prosthetic fangs… anyone with me? ^,___,^
Intolerance! Preconceived notions! I like it.
ah. sounds like you're all set up and ready for the coming zombie apocalypse. My wife and I are still fortifying our position in the West Michigan woods.
grammer counts.
I prefer to look at it as a heightened sense of awareness.
indeed. kind of like Jury Duty..
Can I have Wolverine claws too?
Oh, hells yeah!
Grammar does count, as does spelling.
<– is a jerk. Again, sorry. I blame it all on the high school English teacher who made me read The Elements of Style. I have never been as happy as I was prior to reading it.
Fangs and Steel Claws. The dream team indeed!
Shnick!
Ah, but according to our leftist trolls,me caveman, me too stoopid to spelll good anyway. (and me hate Geico too).
So no need to be sorry. And yes, that book can take the rose coloring off one's glasses.
LOL Geico!
starting to get callouses from all the knuckle dragging.
