The military has read anyone taken into custody (yes, even people you hate) their rights long before "Miranda." It is something called "warning rights" practice under Article 31, UCMJ. It is so people do not self incriminate themselves and is basically what Miranda rights are based on. The reason Obama had to tell the CIA to start Mirandizing is because Bush's BS "enemy combatant" loosely translated to anyone we are at war with, the standard warning rights became unnecessary to sick and twisted minds. The Miranda rights they are being read are no different than the decades old warning rights. But, in a world where if you believe it it magically becomes true, why bother with pesty things like research?

On the topic … I guess this administration wasn't paying attention to the Clinton approach to terrorism.

So, our soldiers and Marines' jobs aren't hard enough — now they have to collect shell casings and fingerprints on the battlefield? What a joke.

I love the smell of poetic justice in the morning. It smells like victory! But wouldn't the lawyers all sue us when they discovered that they would actually be used as human shields in front of military and other strategic targets instead of the schools that they thought they would be protecting?

Think of planeloads of ACLU attorneys winging their way into Waziristan to be on hand for the criminal prosecutions. Just send them on in ahead of the offensive so that they have time for a nice talk with their future clients before the troops round them up.

The Taliban rapes and kills at random women and girls, beheads opponents, kills captured Americans and is quite clear that they mean to destroy everything we value. They are not uniformed troops, are neither signatories nor covered by the Geneva Convention and are opposed to all developments in civilization following the 7th century AD. And Obama wants to give them full civil rights, be a sweetheart to them and release them in to the US. Not certain if he is completely naive, foolish or just plain in sympathy with them. What is clear is that someone focused on protecting America, Americans and liberty would not be extending Miranda rights to these rapid killers.

I'm convinced the gubment has't figured out what these people are or the lefties are trying to jerk defeat from the jaws of victory. If the US had an intelligent, intuitively obvious legal category for these people this issue wouldn't exist. This should be a no brainer, not a political hot potato.
