Rachel Schmeidler is a Los Angeles-based multi-media artist that turns mug shots of public figures into artwork. Rachel also works extensively with 3D technology for which she custom engineered several digital 3D still cameras for her artwork.
Upon moving to Los Angeles after art school, Rachel worked for an artist’s collective where she was exposed to projects by artists Banksy and Sheppard Fairy. Shortly after, Rachel worked on three Presidential Campaigns as a technology consultant for a non-partisan technology firm. Embedded with the traveling press corp, she traveled extensively throughout the United States, thus influencing her outlook on how media sets the agenda for what citizens see and hear.
Rachel is a graduate of Andy Warhol’s Alma Mater, Carnegie Mellon University where she avidly studied art, pop culture, government, and technology. In her recent mugshot series, she has worked diligently to converge these themes.
