For Joy Behar, Some Defamation is More Equal Than Others

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

Sandra Bernhard called Bristol Palin a “hooker” on the “Joy Behar Show” while the rest of her panel concurred by offering up more degrading remarks in support of Bernhard. Not surprising that Behar concurs with Bernhard, as she is fond of name-calling too. She has compared former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to Hitler.  She called Sharon Angle a “bitch” and said she was “going to Hell.”

Being a devout anti-Christian, it seems hypocritical that she believes in Hell at all.

If Behar doesn’t understand the facts or she can’t defend her point of view through rational thought she resorts to name-calling.  When Bill O’Reilly referred to the terrorist of 9/11 as “Muslim killers” she called it “hate speech” and stormed off stage with her pal Whoppi Goldberg in a fit of childish indignation. So it’s OK for her to lie and call people names but when O’Reilly states something that is a fact, it’s “hate speech.” Behar’s name-calling cannot be backed up by any logical facts, but the facts do prove that she is a left-wing wacko and those that sit in her audience and applaud her rabid discourse are no better. Yes I am name-calling here, but at least my name-calling is based on facts.

Sandra Bernhard and Behar, though not twins, are of course likeminded (like Bubba and Forrest): One of Bernhard’s “famous” quotes I found on the Internet iss: “The real terrorist threats are George W. Bush and his brown-shirted thugs.” Just like Behar, she compares Republicans to Hitler. She also referred to a Republican woman as a “thin-lipped bitch,” and to Sarah Palin’s Christianity as “new goyish crappy shiksa funky bullshit.” Not bad for a comedian ranked in the top 100, well somewhere in the top 90. Sean Penn’s Twisted Relationship With Hugo Chavez

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

Sean Penn, who has some kind of twisted relationship with Hugo Chavez, recently defended the Venezuelan president. In an article in the Guardian, Penn, “defended Hugo Chavez as a model democrat and said those who call him a dictator should be jailed.”

sean-penn-meets-with-hugo-chavez2

He directed his ire directly at journalists who accuse Chavez of being a socialist and a dictator.  He said:

“Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it. And this is mainstream media. There should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies.”

According to the Washington Post, the murder rate in Venezuela has quadrupled in the past 11 years under the leadership of Hugo Chavez. The article breaks it down to two murders every hour.

Perhaps Mr. Penn would like to educate himself on the recent findings of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.  This 319-page report was referenced in an editorial in the Washington Post dated March 1, 2010 titled, “Report details violence and lost freedoms in Venezuela.” (more…)

Sean Penn Is Not a Smart Man Or a Patriot

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

We have all heard of Sean Penn’s most recent outbreak of insanity when he suggested that the critics of his efforts in Haiti “die screaming of rectal cancer.”  Of course his whole life has been filled with controversy.  But when he opens his mouth some of the most nasty, ill informed, un-patriotic trash spews out.

Of President Bush on the Iraq war he stated: “I am more patriotic than this president, who I consider a traitor of human and American principles.”

team-america-sean-penn

The Cambridge dictionary online defines “patriotic” as “showing love for your country and being proud of it.”

I don’t believe patriotism equates to calling ones President “a traitor of human and American principles.”  It is not up to Sean Penn or any of his Hollywood friends like Susan Sarandon, Charlie Sheen, and Tim Robbins to decide our President is a traitor.  Our system of government has a method to identify traitorous Presidents.  Over the course of President Bush’s eight years in office he was never identified as a traitor.  So how much truth is in Penn’s allegations? Wars of Race, Wars of Terror, & the World According to Tom Hanks

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

UPDATE: I have corrected a misstatement of facts in this post. I wrote that the Japanese attacked us …”because they wanted to invade and eventually take over our country.”  This is in fact not true. Thank you to those who brought this to my attention. — Jack

“The World According to Tom” is an article that appears in the March 15 issue of “Time.”  It is all about Tom Hanks’ interest in American history.  It’s not a bad article until Mr. Hanks is quoted in the second to last paragraph.

Referring to World War II he stated:

“From the outset, we wanted to make people wonder how our troops can re-enter society in the first place. How could they just pick up their lives and get on with the rest of us? Back in World War II we viewed the Japanese as ‘yellow, slant-eyed dogs’ that believed in different gods.  They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to what’s going on today?”

For some background I served as a medic with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, 1967-68.  I retired from the Army as a Physician Assistant and my son currently serves in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division.  This does give me a bit more insight about our military and “how our troops can re-enter society”.

It is not so hard to re-enter society when society is on the side of a war.  We have all seen the clips of victory parades after WW II soldiers were welcomed home as heroes. Many soldiers returning from Vietnam were actually spit on and called baby killers. I am sure this had an effect on every soldier who ever served in that war.  I am sure that it contributed to the high rate of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that occurred in our Vietnam Veterans.  (more…)

Michael Jackson: Death By Dependence on Drugs and Sycophants?

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

Today the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office is likely to file criminal charges against Dr. Conrad Murray.  As of this writing specific charges have not been disclosed.  However it is speculated that he will be charged with involuntary manslaughter for administering a combination of drugs that led to Jackson’s death.

On January 8th a search warrant issued in Houston for the office and storage facilities of Dr. Conrad Murray helps to confirm that the Los Angeles coroner’s office believes Michael Jackson died from an overdose of propofol.

 neverland

Dr. Murray’s attorney, Ed Chernoff, is saying that his client didn’t do anything that would have killed Jackson.  Of course that is what attorneys get paid for, but in this case Mr. Chernoff is likely to be proved wrong.

Dr. Murray has admitted to administering propofol to Jackson over a six-week period to treat insomnia.  When that seemed to fail and Dr. Murray thought Jackson was becoming addicted he added other sedatives to the mix.  Propofol alone is enough to cause respiratory arrest and adding other sedatives to it only exacerbates its danger. A Veteran Speaks: ‘Avatar’ Demeans Our Military

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

Having served 23 years in the military and in Vietnam, and having a son who leaves for Afghanistan this month, I look at this film through the eyes of a patriot (one who loves and defends his country).

As opposed to those who don’t.

Certainly the special effects are spectacular. However, portraying our military as fanatical crazed killers who have joined a military mercenary force to destroy a civilization so that corporations can capitalize on some rare commodity prized by earthlings is disrespectful to our soldiers, especially in this time of war.

james-cameron

Showing the commander of the forces on his way to destroy a civilization while nonchalantly sipping a cup of coffee and indiscriminately attacking innocent men, women and children, is meant to demean our military.

Obviously this movie takes place in the distant future but the quotes (“pre-emptive war,” “shock and awe”) are meant to intentionally draw attention to our present war with terrorism, which is now mostly located in Afghanistan. Further proof is the fact that a Marine is the main character. (more…)
