BHO: the novelty president
Zo hit on so many good points, it is hard to pick one. So, I'll just say, great video Zo, and looking forward to many more in 2010!
Good vid. As for the man on the street thing, one of the most revealing one was done by Howard Stern (strong language): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqAiarOhC2U
You might want to add a NSFW warning. But, that was classic.
If I could, I'd pay for the ticket to send that one girl to Japan. I think it would be an eye opening experience for her if she honestly thinks the Japanese aren't capitalists. I have a feeling that a little time as a salaryman would have her longing for the good old days of US capitalism.
Zo, once again a masterful vid! Let's all have a good year, uh and watch out for the flying shoe. Oh, and be sure to bring back Doughnut once in a while! God bless you Zo!
Where do you find these people? "The japanese way of family business"? WTF? Schools must be even worse than I thought.
She's under the impression Sony gives away their products for free and pays its employees with a handshake.
They aren't. They believe in THEIR RACE – something Whites are not allowed to do. Their government subsidized their businesses to dump their products in America destroying our native industries and we still haven't recovered. That is the thing the Econ 101-types who preach the RELIGION of Free Trade NEVER mention. All these other nations got rich by PROTECTING them while we allow ours to be destroyed.
The schools are definitely better in Japan. They didn't have to deal with desegregation which destroyed education in the US. We are a laughing stock because of it.
It's quite simple, liberals vote for what makes them feel good at that very moment.
"Oh, I can save the world with climate change reforms? Awesome!"
"Socialism gives everyone a piece of the wealth? Now why would those evil conservatives and capitalists not want that?"
"Yeah, I know economists say one thing, but Barack Obama and Bill Maher said otherwise — and they're Ivy League educated!"
It's maddening with ultra-liberals. They personify the now generation: do what makes me feel good now, do what will get me money now and screw the future. There are so many people like both those girls on my campus, who have no concept of reality.
"You don't see the irony in that?" BURN!!!!
Zo, as always: BRILLIANT!! Posting this to my Facebook. Just stellar, man.
Yeah Japan isn't capitalist at all. I live there, they have no money they don't own or run any sort of business, everything is rationed by the government evenly and they all live in public housing…
I think the real reason that girl is broke is because she is too stupid to figure out how to make money. Japan is the second largest economy in the world, what the hell was she thinking… Oh wait she wasn't. She says Capitalism is evil but says we need to have more small businesses? Isn't business even small and family owned part of the Capitalistic economic system? I guess UC Davis doesn't actually teach people anything or care since I can't believe someone that stupid could get into collage. That or she pulled that sweat shirt out of a dumpster.
Amen to that!!!
Oh shut up Fonz
That is just idiotic. Desegregation did not force students become uneducatated morons. Political correctness and certain liberal philosophies may have, but that is something different. If we couldn´t handle desegregation, it would be our failure as a nation.
No, you have it completely wrong again. The left told miracle stories about Japanese "industrial policy" (aka planning) at a time when japan was extremely successful (1970s/1980s) in order to get the same thing implemented here. The truth is that planning was alternately a myth or a flop.
Like every other country that got rich, and accounting for some cultural differences, Japan practised entrepreneurship and capitalism. That some large corporation received favors from the state doesn´t change that. (US industries got pampered, too, and failed anyway).
They didn´t "dump" anything. The failures of the US or British auto industries are legend. The German car industry is much better and politically connected you still see lots of Japanese cars, machines and appliances there. And you see Japanese and Korean cars in emerging countries where neither VW or GM ever bothered to do business.
Besides, the Japanese economy hasn´t done well recently. The dumb girl has never heard of the "lost decade". Thanks to current policies and anti-trade and anti-market morons, the US may yet have its own lost decade.
Love the street interviews. Liberals in their own words… don't confuse them with like, facts n' junk.
Another great video Zo! Looking forward to seeing all your new stuff in 2010!
Very True Yamamotosan. Japan is a prime example of the confusion free peoples have over capitalism [prosperity] and socialism [feel good economy killing]. The lesson of the lost decade hasn't really sunk in as a result. And they have the highest suicide rate in the world, next to China. We really need to give moral support to Japan, and buy Japanese products, if we wish them to restore themselves to an oasis of free market prosperity in the wasteland of widespread socialism in Asia. But, as it is now, it is falling prey to the same leftist, anti-American sentiment, racial guilt [ the past torture of the Chinese], and Green hysteria that has destroyed Europe and is currently undermining our own Liberty. Japan is even threatened with Islamization and Shariah just like Europe, as Islam is their second largest religious group. I truly feel that if Americans conquer creeping socialism, eco-hysteria, and radical Islam, Europe and Japan will regain the courage to fight back too, ne?
Augh! I couldn't listen to that girl in the hoodie talk about 'the Japanese way', etc, anymore! So ignorant! So oblivious! Capitalism is evil? Everything she has, every freedom she enjoys, everything, everything – she owes to capitalism!!! My God, the stupidity!!!! The blind hypocrisy is unbearable!!!
I love me some Zo!!!!!!
Zo is so awesome and on the money!
It takes courage to walk up Hollywood Blvd and ask real questions.
The schools are as good as the kids in them. When the kids are good, it's great. But in, say, the Buraku ghettos, it's hell on earth. Don't feed into stereotypes. And how are the Japanese supposed to desegregate when the population is 99% ethnically Japanese?
We are from Canada and Canada is a beautiful country and of course all my family and friends are there, but we love the US. We love the entrepreneur spirit, small business and lower taxes (so far) and health care. That girl needs to live in the countries for a while and pay the taxes (Canada – Ontario – 14% on everything) wait for months to see a doctor then she will be crawling back to the US.
Great video ZO – keep them coming.
Oh there are defiantly problems in Japan, there is too much protectionism, such as in the rice industry were it is at least twice as expensive as it should be because of protective tariffs on imports and the fact the local rice is more expensive to produce. The country also relied too heavily on construction as a way to lessen unemployment resulting in a lot of pointless construction at the taxpayers expense that really only lined the pockets of people that had friends in the Diet. The Book "Dogs And Demons" by Alex Kerr does a decent job of explaining how some of the problems started. It's got it's problems, such as the author apparently thinks Japan doesn't have enough left-wing student organizations on collage campuses (because that always helps) but it does shed enough light on some of the problems in Japan to help people figure the rest out
One of the problems is that when they finally tried to get rid of all the old shit heads from the LDP (who are "Conservative" in the European definition of the term and not the American one) they just got new shit heads (same old idiots only now they want to suck up to China more and leave North Korea alone). The average person goes to work runs a business and is all down with Capitalism (even if they don't realize it) the problem is that much like the West it has been infected by the Corporatist leanings of the politicians for years and most people don't give a crap about politics because they don't think they can change anything. The thing is that they do in a way have a political class and the normal person doesn't have much say and other than a few fringe political parties most politicians are mostly the same.
I love Japan but it does need to pull it's head out of it's ass and get a good Conservative/Libertarian party in there. We also need a Second Amendment here, all the Yakuza got guns and I get arrested if I have a pocket knife.
They had planning it was mostly construction, tariffs on imports and letting the large companies do whatever they wanted.
Yes. Which works for a while, but it is hardly the main reason Japan got rich. And I don´t think it helps a nation once it IS rich. I don´t like to see America de-industrialized either, but turning our backs on free trade will not do any good. Is there anybody who trusts Congress to "manage" trade?
Simply awesome
Funny, witty, alarming… great video. I particularly enjoyed the line about how kids in starving countries would probably 'love to eat the sesame seeds out of your doo doo!' Yeah, I'm infantile, but it was still funny.
That idiot girl who thinks she's broke because of capitalism… yikes, scary. That kind of awesome stupidity and ignorance is sadly not that hard to find anymore,.
I didn't say it helped that much I'm just saying that there wasn't as much planning as people try to claim.
