We are so far in debt to china that we wont ever see daylight again.
Keep them coming Zo!

We will climb out of this eventually, but I shudder at the price. My worst fear is that the price is American high tech. Even worse, high tech security. A nation with the population of China armed only with its bare fists is a formidable foe. Add all our military and computer technical knowledge, and we are on the edge of destruction. China currently is not a trading partner, it is an enemy that isn't ready to attack us yet. Are we going to end up giving them the proverbial rope to hang us with? I would like to think that as they get wealthier, their communist past will erode and they will become more desirous of a free society. But I'm not holding my breath.
There you go Zo with that logic thingy again. All the liberal dweebs, heads begin to throb. Give’em hell brother!
His point on drilling for oil has become a none issue. Gas prices fell and people forgot about it! We have elected "The Chosen One" and he is here to give us windmills and rainbows. Right!
News Flash: Since Barry got elected gas has gone up .75 cents a gallon in my area! Just filled up my truck at $2.58 a gallon! It is expected to go up a lot more! Great!
Barry's solution to gas prices going up. Drill for oil? Nope not even close! He gives us F****ing Windmills!! Sorry President Pee Wee my truck won't run on sunshine and puppy dog tails!
This country is going to hell in a handbasket and Barry's gonna carry the basket and pick daisies all the way there!
If you can't tell, this subject tick's me off a bit!
Zo, you are doing what the government won't: drillin'!
Chillin'
Awesome, Zo!! Continue to speak the truthsome, buddy!!
Skillin'.
Zo, I've been a fan for a while, but this may your best yet taking a scalpel to a specific topic. I'm gonna try the concept of "hey, why can't we drill for oil like your favorite dictators" on some of my liberal friends….
Zo’s honesty is what the world needs RIGHT now (stereotypical pun intended).
That's why I think that Sean Penn is separating from his wife again. He just realized that her name is Robin WRIGHT
Good one.
The last real technology blunder with China was when the Clinton Administration allowed Loral Space to sell the technology for guidance systems for their ICBM’s, we can’t have those missiles miss their mark. We are whistling by the graveyard in regards to China, and the pull back is going to be real tuff and dangerous if it can be done.
Ok, why is there no sound?
ok fixed now… ((blush))
A broken clock is right twice a day. Collectively we have no idea what the hell were doing. And one day there will be a margin call. Can we give China California? It'd be easier to sell 12 acres of pristine land 20 miles to the right of Naples. At least they could make belts from the alligators.
Oh, there have been lots more blunders, that's just the major one noted in the press. Every time a plant gets opened there, whatever "intellectual property" is involved goes elsewhere. Also, look around, just about anything that was "cutting edge" twenty years ago is now for sale to consumers. Who cares about Loral Space, when they can aim ICBM's with GPS. Chinese nationals go to our universities, learn just as our future scientists do. The hope is they'll take high-tech jobs in the US, research and engineering. And they do, at some point they may even apply for citizenship. And who checks what sort of info they send back home?
You're about 50 cents higher than in Central PA, I think the environ-mentals got you. It's the summer driving season, refineries are making "summer blends" per federal but mostly state regulations, sometimes local (think LA does that). Sounds like there's a shortage somewhere, could be a particular additive or just not enough finished gasoline for the need. That's often what drives up Kalifornia prices.
A clock that runs slow may never be right. The one we're stuck with keeps showing we're in the 1920-30's, 1960-70's, and often the 1990's. Maybe it's a mechanical problem, it seems incapable of recognizing times in the 2000's.
That would be a very good argument except for the fact that I am only 7 miles from one of the largest gasoline refineries in the midwest. I know all about designer gasolines. in the Chicagoland area we use no less than six different blends between Cook County (The county Chicago is in) and the collar counties.
The really sad thing about the designer summer blend fuels is that the fuel economy you get with them is reduced by at least 20%. Eco-nuts say these fuels are better for the enviroment, yet I personally use far more gasoline in the summer (due to the reduced economy) . So the benefits of the friendly fuels is negated by useing more. No?
I did an experiment recently. I filled my truck up at the local raceing fuel supplier. This is 100+ octane fuel with no additives at all. I turned back 24 mpg highway (long trip) in my 13 yr old SUV. Problem is this gas is about $6.00 a gallon.
Hope that wasn't leaded, I don't know what's available for off-road only. Octane isn't related to power (common misconception) but how well the fuel burns, less tweaking by the engine controls might account for some of the mileage increase. But unless it's manufacturer spec, anything past standard 87 ain't worth it.
It's not distance to the refinery, but distance to the fuel depot. I'm within 30 minutes of our local one, and apparently no matter the brand they all fill the tankers there. If they stuck yours a hundred miles away (zoning, perceived safety, location to customers etc) you're paying for about 200 miles of travel. And there's no guarantee that refinery makes your local gas, being so big it may make it for the larger market and they ship in the blends from smaller plants.
Your reduced gas mileage ain't an issue for the environ-mental-nuts, ideally they want you to use none, one way or another.
Speak Truth to Power!!
(Oh good, our side gets to use that line now. Equality time! Fair's fair!)
Someone needs to solve the case of the disappearing replies? I'll try it this way!
I tend to get a little ahead of myself on things (far to much coffee). I didn't explain myself very well. The refinery in question is actually a distribution point for our area so distance to point of sale doesn't answer it .
I agree, it doesn't matter if it is Mobil, Shell, or B.P. it is all the same except for different amounts of additives.
Octane in this case is an issue because the truck runs a 10.2 to one CR and has high cylinder pressures due to valvetrain modifications. But you are correct it should run on 87 octane and will, but the engine management will step in to reduce detonation and cylinder temps, thus reducing power. I am one of the many that are guilty of pushing the gas pedal harder when the vehicle doesn't do what I want. This is one reason for mpg reduction. (more)
Needed to split this.
But to clarify my point on the "unleaded" 100+ (actually 101.9) fuel. This fuel contains no methanol, ethanol, or any detergents. It is "Old School" gasoline. While it is overkill to a point the vehicle does make significantly more power which in turn makes me ease up on the vertical pedal! I think you'd agree driving style has a lot to do with mpg. (More)
But the quality of the fuel that we use across the country is horrible. due mostly to EPA rules. This is a fact that many import car makers know well and ,if you have access to the information, you will find TSB's (technical service bulletins) from Toyota, Honda, and BMW addressing poor mpg, and poor idle quality that they have determined to be caused by our low quality fuel.
But in the end you are exactly right. The enviro-weenies won't be happy untill we use no gasoline at all. In the mean time they will water it down so much we will use it to put out fires instead of water.
Give em hell Zo!!!
