Filmmakers: Good News! GM is Bankrupt!
by Phelim McAleer & Ann McElhinney“The Age of Stupid” is a pretend documentary about a pretend problem, a pretend documentary because most of it is set in the future and has an actor (Pete Postlewaite) reading a script. The script is about how stupid we were not to have done something to stop climate change and how by 2050 Postlewaite’s character is the last remaining human on a devastated planet.
All very caring stuff – and we are introduced to Iraqi refugees, people from the Niger Delta and the Alps to witness the supposed climate problems they’re already facing. (Although in reality the problems in Iraq and Nigeria had nothing to do with climate and the character in the Alps seemed largely concerned about increasing traffic destroying his peace and quiet.)
But the characters were sympathetically drawn and one would believe the filmmakers genuinely cared about people and their lives. However, occasionally the mask slips. The filmmakers now send out regular emails about the film’s progress and any “climate news,” and the latest email shows just how much they care about ordinary people losing their jobs and probably their homes during one of the worst recessions in a hundred years.
Under a section entitled “Good News” the email chirpily informs us:
Good riddance to US car giant General Motors, who declared bankruptcy this week! Whilst this is sad news for the thousands of workers set to lose their jobs, it is very good news for the climate.
The Age of Stupid opens in the US in September – presumably not in Detroit or any other city depending on car manufacturing or indeed on any type of heavy industry.
Ann McElhinney & Phelim McAleer are the Producers and Directors of Not Evil Just Wrong – a documentary which reveals the true cost of Global Warming hysteria. Noteviljustwrong.com

The left must be torn between climate change and their love for unions. I guess as long as it's another union and not their union they'll be able to live with the trauma. At least privately anyway.
more leftwing nitwittery compliments the creative forces in Hollywood. The Slim One Michael Moore had a similar comment the other day, something about " a million daggers aimed at mother earth" or some other such nonsense… of course, as he is being limoed back and forth to high buck speaking engagements extolling poor people.
The best thing about all this is the sheer breathtaking hypocrisy on display here. Even non-ideological typed are starting to ask questions and raise doubts. There is still hope…
Yeah, now that GM is gone…or being sold off to European companies…no one will be producing cars any more. Yeah makes perfect sense libs.
The title of a movie about Global Warming is called "The Age Of Stupid"………..Hey if the shoe fits……..
And…..I'm willing to bet they didn't get the cameras, sound equipment, and that "oh so important catering" to the "set" in the back of a Prius!
Funny how that works isn't it?
I've heard rumors that they "Eat there own kind"………………..Probably just an urban myth?
Well they do have different bumper stickers after all.
The Left has a knack of caring about the human tragedies and mass deaths that could possibly occur in the distant future while completely ignoring those that are going on in the present.
This affords them the ability to feel that they really care about people without actually doing anything to help anyone. Speculative and vague threats allow for speculative and vague action while real problems require real solutions.
That may explain why Lefties are big on bumper stickers.
It's kinda like when a dog sniff's another dog's A**, it's how they identify each other! Only difference is that a dog's A** tends to be cleaner than most Liberals!
Just a thought…………
What I love is how lefties never think about the actual costs of their pet causes and the "solutions" the propose–and I'm not just talking 'bout money. Enviornmentalists killed millions by pressuring the UN to ban DDT, all in the name of a threat to birds that didn't really exist. Obama and his new CAFE standards will kill thousands more, because people will be driving lighter, more vulnerable cars–numbers that make casualties in the Iraq war pale by comparison. Measures to combat the global warming boogeyman will consign entire nations to poverty by strangling the means of economic expansion–namely, cheap energy and food production.
I can only hope that one day, when the world wakes up and sees this climate change fad for what it is, you won't be able to find a person willing to admit they ever believed in this junk. Ay caramba.
Couldn't agree with you more! The lighter and smaller cars are going to make the highways look like the aftermath of a flock of geese migrating through a windmill farm! (Ever seen that mess? Yuck!)
But hey Barry says that eventually we will all be driving "Matchbox's" so it will even out or some such Bulls**t!
Problem though, my big honkin' SUV is 14yrs old , I am keeping it and buying another new one, which I will probably keep the same amount of time. So for at least the next decade I will have the fun of picking Hybrids out of my grill!
Jobs are for the little people. The great movers and shakers know what's best for us, and clearly unemployment, underemployment and ruined families are a small price to pay for saving a polar bear. Once the middle class is entirely out of work, there will still be a few years left to drain the rich of their few remaining assets. And then, the world climate will be fixed perfectly, the air will be pure, and the population reduced by 40 or 50 percent. Finally, utopia! How could we have missed this perfect solution? By then, Al Gore can have an entire state all to himself.
"unemployment, underemployment and ruined families are a small price to pay for saving a polar bear."
And when no one can afford to put food on the table, that Polar Bear is dinner!
And I'm sure these people who are cheering at GM's demise (under Obama) are taking trains and hopefully horse and buggies to get around.
For some reason I'm not able to generate much enthusiam for Global Warming although I do enjoy work of Pete Postlewaite. The earth warms, the earth cools and only the folk with 5000 year lifespans should be concerned. Otherwise, lacking a few hundred years of hard data, it seems contrived for the benefit of the snake oil salesmen. GM failing is unfortunate especially for the workers who relied on that company to stay healthy. It was slowly bludgeoned to death. I hope someone is writing an objective account about the decades long downfall of GM at the hands of those mercenaries who destroyed the company as they pursued their own selfish goals. There's plenty of blame to go around in this quintessential US story of greed and competition.
Takes place in "2050?" Is there a line in the film about how all those refugees in the world were actually the result of North Korea and Iran setting off a nuclear holocaust because the worst, and last President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, was too weak and narcissistic to pay attention to that real and growing threat?
Pure liberal fantasy, at this pace there will be no 2050!
PS Did it ever occur to liberals that global warming may just be the result of the out of control breeding in third world countries? Too many people create too much “greenhouse gas” for poor mother earth to process!
True story:
Back during the 2004 Presidential election, my friend and I worked on a contract that resulted in several hundred manufacturing jobs being created in Florida. My friend's wife is a deranged liberal type who was upset about this because it increased the chances of Bush winning Florida. Her theory was that if the economy got worse, Kerry's chances to win were better.
It was pretty gross.
Excellent observations! I love the way you worded that- sums up the liberal fantasy world quite nicely.
Then I bet Auntie smells really bad! And he has a lot of bumperstickers.
Republicans do what they do for Love of Country……….
Democrats do what they do for Career Advancement……………….
NASA Study Acknowledges Solar Cycle, Not Man, Responsible for Past Warming

Whilst this is sad news for the thousands of workers set to lose their jobs, it is very good news for the climate.
Wow. I guess this is the liberal mindset in black & white.
((Faux sympathy)) So sorry about your job loss. So sorry you can't pay your mortgage or feed your family. But hey.. look at the bright side. No more nasty by-products coming out of your evil company. Yaaaaa!
Crap like this is why we're already heading for Obamageddon.
Maybe we should say good riddance to civilization. You're too stupid to survive.
Anyone who has close ties to a dyed-in-the-wool liberal undoubtedly has a similar tale of astonishment and woe.
It boggles the mind that even though some people can have such thoughts privately – wishing ill on others and the country to gain ground themselves – saying them aloud doesn't make them reconsider their words one little bit.
Rather, when a reasonable wake-up retort to their dementia is made, such as, 'do you hear what you're saying?', it's usually batted down with an even more inflexible mentality cementing the words in place.
At that point it becomes clear that a reasonable person is not standing in front of you and should be given wide berth. Unfortunately, with family or close ties, it ain't that easy.
Thank you for that Ally. I just posted the link on another blog where we have been battling a vicious and uncompromising Algore Troll (genus Falsificationous Maximus) for days on this issue. This should deliver quite a blow, perhaps even knocking him off the bridge.
I think that MIchael Moore did the same thing– People losing their jobs is nothing to celebrate.
This is sick. Truly sick. As I sit here with my windows open and no air conditioner on, one week into June in the middle of the country. Generally, but this time of year, I've had my house shuttered up and the air on for at least couple of weeks, if not longer, but this is the second year in a row where we've been able to hold out because the weather has been sub-90 degree for so long.
And yet, we have a liberal friend who continually scoffs at every anti-MMGW piece we link to. We finally shut him up by asking why he still lives in Florida if he really believes in Global Warming.
The left just won't let it go, and they seem incapable of linking the pain and suffering of lost jobs with their rabid support of climate change measures.
It's even stupider than that: His Smarminess cancelled a viable Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car Program that GM was to introduce to the average consumer fairly soon (Nissan, Toyota, and Honda have also been working diligently to perfect a fuel cell car.) . These cars run on WATER! The exhaust they emit is WATER VAPOR! The most greenest, most hunkydoriest, most coolest president EVAH cancelled a program that would virtually eliminate our need for fossil fuels. I guess he really doesn't give a ______ about global warming or the furry, fluffy, fuzzy, white polar bears that allegedly are at the brink of extinction. Instead, he and his merry band of malcontents are pushing ethanol blends (driving up the cost of food AND still dealing with fossil fuels and carbon emissions), hybrids (again with the fossil fuels and carbon emissions), AND electric cars (Fossil fuels involved as well–they need to be charged up somehow.) And OH YEAH: NASA now says it's sun cycles and not humans that are warming the earth. DUH! Anyone out there ever take a science class?
Info Please! When did you hear this? Where did you hear this?
I actually got to check out one of the test bed vehicles a few years ago (Not drive, just get up close and personnel) and it was brilliant.
I've already said this here, but I'll say it again. A week ago I was in north Wisconsin. The day I left Sunday May 31st it was 31 degrees with a wind chill of 26! At the end of May? What the hell?
Like you said "The left just won't let go"…….
The debate is over Global Warming "Does Not" Exist!
The nit-wit leftist and their religion, to an environmentalist it’s a kind of heaven or legacy without the hassle of God. These smug ba$tards think to themselves “we’re such good people, and sacrifices have to be made for Mother Earth, (aka. GM, Chrysler… ) the Earth will last forever and ever.” Fools! What goes around comes around.
No Goldentrout, facts are irrelevant to a crazed liberal.
As we all march in a parade of fools, take heart… this is unsustainable for any political party to be so cavalier about the collapse of a venerable American industry a icon of the USA, for the scheme that is Global Warming. This along with, Stimulus, Healthcare, Cap-n-(tax)trade, VAT, Sin taxes, are gonna come around and bite Barry in the a$$. His full assault on business is going to further destroy business expansion, and opportunity for employment, except government, it seems intentional? Hmmmmm…
I first heard you two on Dennis Miller's show, and I consider you the finest debunkers of the GW myths out there. Even if there is something to our climate undergoing a change, the people pushing the theory have an agenda that has nothing to do with the planet's conditions improving (or caring about the people any change effects). Please keep doing what you're doing….someone has to expose these frauds for who they really are.
(Banging head repeatedly on desk) -you're right; didn't faze him. I knew deep down that would happen, but did it anyway in some false hope for change (ar ar).
All was not lost, some of the others on the blog appreciated the link.
"Good riddance to US car giant General Motors, who declared bankruptcy this week! Whilst this is sad news for the thousands of workers set to lose their jobs, it is very good news for the climate. " Hmmm…guess you've never seen human beings dying due to climate exposure. Oh yeah, you don't really care about stuff like humans dying do you.
"unemployment, underemployment and ruined families are a small price to pay for saving a polar bear."
And when no one can afford to put food on the table, that Polar Bear is dinner!
And when the polar bear are gone, dinner is Al Gore!!
I'm thinking "The Age of Stupid" applies to anyone who would pay money for this sick twisted self aggrandizing fantasy.
Its nonsense like this that will cause the West to collapse to cultures that live in reality rather than a fantasyland.
People losing their jobs is nothing to celebrate.
In the mindset of the liberal greenies, it is something to celebrate.
As long as it's not a union job. Or a government job. Or a "green" job.
Or theirs.
I read a statistic online several days ago. Nearly half of all crashes are single vehicle, think it was 48%, vehicle versus light pole or rolling over down an embankment etc. Thus everyone driving econo-boxes will not "even out" those at all, simply make for more deaths.
I am keeping my Ford F150. I like staying alive.
Did you not get the memo? Nature is superior to us because Man is un-natural. It is acceptable for the polar bear to eat you but not the other way around.
Do not forget also that meat is an unneeded luxury. We shall be dining on boiled lawn clippings for our final meals before extinction, which after all is what we deserve. That is if we allow this madness to continue.
Not sure about the purity of the air since it seems we will be "fixing" global warming by employing "nuclear winter" after North Korea and Iran finally start launching, despite the strongly-worded UN notices. But at least the 40-50% reduction goal can be well achieved around that area, and we have oceans around us with plenty of storms to get some purification with particulate abatement before that air gets here. We can ship Al Gore over as a goodwill ambassador to assess what relief is needed, right before sealing the borders.
BTW Read your replies. I had a three day hiatus after an "opportunity for learning" with my hard drive, self-inflicted but very educational. Thank you for responding.
This is not surprising as the piece only covers part of the warming, as was noted in the comments.
I have seen other articles that do a better job. Something that seems hard for people to accept is the vast time scale for global changes. The planet is still adjusting to changes since the last major ice age.
Here is a way to handle those types. Point out how the UN IPCC report says that warming will continue for at least a millennia, even if we shut down all carbon-based power generation and industry right now. Note how by the current "climate change science" we have either gone past or will soon inescapably go past many noted "tipping points" such as the thawing of the permafrost and the lack of Arctic ice leading to dark seas soaking up solar energy.
Therefore "going green" right now will have no noticeable effect within our lifetimes other than waste incredible sums of money on technology that is not ready for cheap mass production and adoption. It is better to plan for the inevitable adapting to climate change, while allowing technology to go its own way which simple economic principles dictate will lead to less energy consumption. Relatively soon, virtually instantly in planetary terms, alternate energy solutions that are cheaper than traditional energy will emerge and be widely deployed, which we can afford to do since we kept money from being wasted on hasty buying earlier. In summary, the best you can do for the planet and mankind is to wait.
And as the saying goes, that will hold 'em 'til we get a rope.
Recycling their newspapers makes up for allowing all those deaths by not sending troops to Darfur. This will be confirmed by their pointing out how many more will die in Darfur due to climate change if they do not recycle their newspapers. This makes sense to them.
The case for "radical reductions in toxic carbon dioxide emissions" continues to grow.
If they truly think the Earth will last forever I'm afraid I have some bad news regarding the unshielded fusion reactor 8+ light-minutes away.
(…but IIRC, plate tectonics will stop long before that and kill the planet anyway. Oh well.)
and this guy gets paid for spewing this lunacy, and sadly he has an audience
I've heard rumors that Repukes can't grasp the English language. It's "their", not "there".
The tile itself is at least upfront: the leftist mind's smug conceit, the assumption that anyone who doesn't agree with its shibboleths is….stupid. We've seen it before, as with 'What's Wrong with Kansas,' but not very often is the Left so brazen about its inherent arrogance.
Of course, when it comes to the Church of AGW, instead of 'stupid' we heretics are sometimes 'criminal', as the ecofascists (starting with NASA'a Hansen) call for the prosecution and execution of us 'deniers.'
Truth power!
Very good points- thanks! None of us had approached the discussion from that angle. I'll try it on him.
Now to find a suitable rope…
Not in the best taste.
ALSO not all that different from the rapturous celebrations I see around here whenever a "liberal" film, studio or actor hits a bad patch, of course…
…but not in the best taste none the less.
I know what you mean. When I visit the Democrat Underground, I see they have a problem with kat instead of cat. But then again, Dumbocrats have a problem bathing and finding work too. So I guess you guys are saving water and gas!
Seven weeks of trolling over at the Breitbart news section with an average post length of about five words, presumably coming straight from Drudge Report, and the best you can manage is a schoolyard insult under the pretense of noticing a single misused word.
I am sorry sweetie but the adults are in this section. Perhaps you may display your wit over at Daily Kos.
Protected in his little home, vulgar sacks of excrement type those words about GM and those employees. Let that monster say it in front of them in a locked room.
How funny. You insult someone for "their" spelling and then go on to incorrectly capitalize a word not even in the dictionary. Elitism and hypocrisy in the same post. You are a perfect example of an Obama Democrat.
Not to mention that now China will be producing MORE cars to fill the gap…yes, China, that paragon of environmental sensitivity. Way to go, Libs!!!
Actually a solar flare could take us out at any minute. Although our biggest threat appears to be from the magnetic effect of a solar storm, killing the technology we find so vital. (Source, source, source, and source.) Since you are showing signs of scientific awareness by using Tag as an avatar you may already be aware of this.
"with an average post length of about five words"
Again with the Liberals and "ThEIrE" bumper stickers. Seems fitting since "The Messiah's" entire foreign and domestic policies can be fit on one……..
I'd rather be unable to grasp the english language, than be unable to grasp a job like yourself.
Take out the piercings, shave off the goatee, take a bath and then go get a job…..World of Warcraft will still be there when you get back.
Ah Bob having to make sure the masses don't get to uppity? Let me explain the difference of taking some pleasure at Hollywood bombing and GM. Hollywood makes a product that often despises the very consumers it wants to buy it. Unlike Hollywood, GM actually did factor in consumer demand. The very classic examples of Hollywood churning out it's streak of anti-war films that nobody wanted, politics trumped business. I know probably that doesn't gibe with with an elitist like you, after how dare they presume to think know what they want.
I heard this on Glenn Beck. He test drove one for GM for a length of time and loved it. It's GM's program that was cancelled. My dad went gah gah over this technology long before it came to mainstream attention. (We visited Toyota's Fuel cell testing facility in Davis, California years back. The cars and the technology are amazing! ) I grew up reading Popular Science and Popular Mechanics because of my dad so I've been following this technology for awhile. I was saving up for one–hopefully a domestic one. (Although, we own 3 Japanese vehicles: '91 nissan pickup, and 2- 2003 Civics.) Now I'll just have to save up some extra money so I can buy the fuel cell accord. To say that I'm furious over this decision is to put it mildly. They are as you say brilliant vehicles and to have them crushed by His Stupidness is almost a personal slug in the gut.
Thank you very much.
The truly sad part of this is that Honda,Toyota and BMW all are useing GM licensed technology. GM has been working with the technology since the Apollo missions. They went to great lengths to make this technology viable and affordable and the "Idiot Savant" in the White House goes and burns it down.
Another fun fact: In the mid 90's when GM had the EV1 (aka Impact) they asked the occupants of the White House (This would be Bubba and The Gorecal)to lend a hand to push the technology and offer tax credits and incentives for people to "Lease" these very expensive cars. The White House turned them down, and with lack luster response (due to the high cost) the car, GM killed it!
Way to save the planet Al…………………..
"Unlike Hollywood, GM actually did factor in consumer demand."
Yes, CLEARLY a bankrupt maker of cars operating in one of the most car-obsessed nations on the planet could not have been more dialed-in as to what their customers wanted to buy.
In reality, the two examples have no real moral difference… if you go in for that sort of thing. YOU'RE glad when a "liberal" film fails with no regard for all the tradespeople it also harms; these guys are glad to see a pollution-prone car company fail with no regard for the factory-level workers, and so on.
Yes they were more dialed in then Hollywood who be bankrupt if it wasn't for most studios now being owned by larger companies. Here's a little news for you when a film fails it doesn't harm the trades people who made it as they have already been paid and are on to the next film. As I've said to you before just because you so something is so doesn't make it that way (this seems to be what you base most of your arguements on). The bottom line which you didn't address is that unlike GM, Hollywood is a business that has become openly hostile to it's consumer base. Really why should you care about the trades people and factory workers? Aren't they the dumb people you despise because your much smarther then them?
Is this Kobayashi doing the bidding of Keyser Soze again?
Someone should do a "future documentary" by a starving worker-slave in a government-approved, enviro-friendly labor camp wondering why we all fell for Al Gore's Trojan Horse of Climate Change back in the early 21st century.
But he still won't have enough room to plunk his lard@ss down without crushing some living thing!
I know!! I was yelling at the TV over that one back then. Stupid sacks of….well you know. Wine. I need wine!!
Improve your vision naturally!…
Thanks. Left you a trackback to help your readers improve eye vision naturally….
