As we come down to the wire on Pelosi’s government-run health care bill, look for the left to trot out every possible relic of more prosperous times in a desperate attempt to pass this thing (or at a minimum avoid reading it). Thus, it’s hardly a surprise Ex-President Josiah Bartlet, the greatest statesmen of our time, as well as Ex-First Lady Betty Rizzo decided to put their 100% approval ratings among likely voters who approve of Martin Sheen and Stockard Channing on the line to support the cause of rationed care. Bartlett, like so many other Democrat ex-politicians, can’t seem to take the hint that a graceful exit is far preferable to wearing out your welcome.
As is customary in these celeb health care PSAs, the fake ex-President and fake ex-First Lady don’t offer those of us with more modest incomes the reassurance that they will be accepting this “public insurance option” they so boldly tout over their cushy Screen Actors’ Guild (or comparably comprehensive) plans, rendering themselves, to quote on Holden Caulfield, “phonies.”
Consider this reason #2 trillion this bill needs to go down.

But this health care plan won't apply to them because they have the money for private care. They'd never endorse this plan if they actually had to open their wallets and pay for health care for folks in fly-over country.
But there would be delicious irony if this did get voted in and, in a few years when the parts dry up, Sheen and Channing suddenly had to deal with what they endorsed.

How about a compromise; since life without entertainment means death, how about Hollywood offering Free Nationalized Entertainment for everyone in the world.
This way private individuals can use their hard earned dollars purchasing their own private health insurance and picking their own health care of choice with all the money they used to purchase Hollywood entertainment.
I know Tom Hanks, Ron Howard, George Clooney, Martin Sheen, Stockard Channing, BaBra Sterisand, Michael Moore and all the other great celebrity humanitarians in Hollywood would love to give up their opulent lifestyles, their million $$$ contracts and leave their lovely mansions overlooking the ocean in order to help the poor receive Hollywood's life-extending entertainment.
Demand Free Nationalized Entertainment so real people can be free afford to purchase their own health care based upon their own personal wants, needs and desires.
Come on Hollywood be the humanitarians you pretend to be, give the poor all your money, your mansions and your limousines.

Written in the bill – IN THE BILL – is a provision which allows members of Congress to opt-out of the government program. As for you and me, we CAN'T opt-out. We HAVE TO buy a "qualified plan," or suffer fines, penalties, and jail! G'day, I am an Aussie, so I am only a spectator to this health care debate. I am not advocating our system, but it is the one I understand best. We have public and private health cover, police and justice system. This basically provides a standard for all, and those that want a higher standard pay for different coverage.
We get news from world wide sources. The BBC was saying that there is a wave of your elderly were moving to Mexico because they couldn't afford your private health care. That is money leaving your country.
If you can afford health cover now, then it will have to be cheaper when the public option comes in, because it is competition.
I understand that it will be higher taxes for you, and with your history of the cold war, that it is contrary to the patriotic ideology. But the price is less than your wars, and in the long run if you or a relative gets a spinal injury you will not go bankrupt.
I ask this question here on a republican hosted web site, not to troll, but because you should me a real answer from a republican view. I have looked the republican web sites, but they have only carried on about socialism.
If it is just because you are afraid of communism I can respect that. Your country was a target for many years and ours was less so. But I don't really think that is the case, is there some obvious flaw that we are not hearing about over here?

Good morning – at least here in Central WI to you. I hadn't read/heard that the elderly are leaving for Mexico to get health care here, but you would think that our unless MSM would take that bit of info and run with it as an example of "see….it's so awful here we're driving our elderly away"…and I find that hard to believe because the free and easy borders door is swings only one way…and it's to pen to the US and remain closed tight in to Mexico….but it is also interesting that the BBC piece says they're not flocking to Canada – which has a health care system probably much like yours in Australia. No, people in Canada wait in long, long lines unless they can afford to go to a private practice doctor OR come here to the US…..
Also, perhaps the plan that you describe in Australia with respect to taxes works better n a country with 21,000,000 or so people, but becomes unwieldy to administrate in a country of 305,000,000 or so people – the US population is 14 times greater than the population of Australia and with respect to taxes…..many of these 305 million fall under the line of having to pay a large tax burden, so the increase goes to those who make more…but many find ways to shelter that income and therefore pay less and really 50% or more of our income to pay for the government gets extreme….especially when we are forced to pay for programs that we don't agree with…al for the greater good.
And it is about socialism…at least it is for me….. I really don't want some government stooge to tell me what I can and can't eat…or how many times I can use the bathroom or what temperature my house should be set at in the winter – and I can tell you central WI winters are no picnics…..even with gloBULL warming. Provisions have been put into the legislation that forces people to choose an option and make it difficult for business to "compete" – especially if they are small businesses, so the government will run the entrpeneur away and take over everything and then exercise the option for total control….NO THANKS….I am responsible for myself and my family and I don't want the government running every aspect of my life.

People are not "flocking" to Mexico because of our health care "system," there are a few people (mostly people with money) who somehow thing that the pills in Mexico are better than the pills we have here in the U.S. 2. You actually believe something the BBC told you? You might actually get more truth from internet chat rooms. The BBC is famous for broadcasting unsubstantiated information. 3. I would love for anyone to tell me how our health care system is "broken." Did you know that if you don't have health insurance, you can still obtain medical care? Did you know that there are already programs to help people who cannot get health insurance? Yeah, I'm sure the BBC told you all about that.
Are there problems? Sure, but show me a system that is perfect and operational in the world today.

You are right, 4Liberty. Honest Americans want to IMPROVE our health care system for everyone. But Obamacare (in all its manipulative, Orwellian versions) has NOTHING to do with improving our health care system.
