…and if only he hadn't offered a kind word regarding George W. Bush when he was overseas. If only…
Mickey was great in The Wrestler. But wrestling is southern, politically incorrect and redneck. Everything good liberals aren't.
Yeah, this one was this year's annual political statement by Hollywood. There's one every year… usually about homosexuality or abortions. It wouldn't be the Oscars without a Very Important Statement being rubbed in the face of the rest of America.
That's OK, Hollywood. That's why we don't even watch anymore.
…or mentally handicapped…
As I posted on another thread on BH, he should have said after the awards, "Damn! Wish I'da kissed Chavez's ass, too."
Rourke was toast when he refused to bash Bush. Adrian Brody has practically disappeared since he made a speech at Oscar saying the troops weren't maniacal killers. Hollywood punishes dissent by withholding.
I'm getting to be a Pitt-Jolie fan. Have stopped calling them Bradgelina. Seems to me they've gotten some class somewhere along the way. Brad didn't have a chance. Hollywood HATES great looking guys when it comes time for Oscar. Look who won. Sean Penn! Look who should have won. Mickey Rourk.
Don't know if there were any political speeches. As soon as the winner(s) were named, I either muted out the remote or flashed over to the Duke-Wake Forrest game. (Duke won).
Reason there weren't any political statements other than the Penn win was there was no reason. The hated Republicans are out of power, the Messiah is in, and as The One told the GOP elected reps. "I WON!" Yep, Hollywood won, and now, by the looks of the economy, most of the middle class is going to have to forgo movies
in favor of a loaf of bread and a quart of milk.
He wasn't?
AMEN!
That is definately why I refuse to watch award shows. Well with the exception for the ACM & CMA shows.
I don't know anyone who saw "Milk" or who intends to. Everyone I know saw "Wrestler." And I live in NYC, not the boondocks. What gives? I'm scratching my head.
