This completely sucked me in. Every turn had me gasping with astonishment! Honestly, it wasn't until your "personal reveal" that I really let myself believe this didn't happen. Now I KNOW I need to get my hands on some of your written work.
A creepifyin' Christmas. What a concept!
O.k., a night lite night tonight.
Moral of the story?

But of course, with his voice and stage presense, Mr. Klaven could read the phone book and hook me in.
I'm a fan of the old Mercury Theater radio programs. This story would have fit right in with the best of them.

For the first part I actually believed the story was real. This was truly morbid and scary. If you sell the movie rights don't let the guy who made Hostel direct it. I think he;d eF'it up.
I'm with you. I saw the words "Christmas" & "Advent" and thought it was going to be an uplifting story.
I sat listening to this story and simply marveling at the wordsmithing. Klaven is indeed a master of the craft.
Off-topic, this website may be under malware attack. Few hours ago, I checked this site via my sister-in-law's Macbook, using Safari. The web-browser prompted me to a malware warning page, warning me that Big Hollywood is filled with malware and trojan horses, infecting other sites via links.
Have anybody beside me experienced this? Is the webmaster of Big Hollywood aware of this?

What a nice little stocking stuffer – scared the wits out of me…I'm lying here with the flu – and I extend my gratitude for this VERY entertaining bit of story telling. Excellent!

I caught the whole series on PJTV earlier today. Andrew Klavan is a great talent. I don't write reviews but if you have not read his books you are missing out on some fantastic writing. I enjoyed every one of them–especially "the agency" series. His writing style is so real–from human failing to human triumph, we see ourselves. You will laugh, blush, and grow as you see parts of yourself in his stories. It doesn't get any better than Klavan–period.
I remember listening to this over at Dirty Harry's last year. Excellent. The telling seems slightly different. The script appears to be the same, but I think Klavan's delivery is different. I won't say in what way so that I won't spoil the ending, and the change is subtle if I remember correctly. Anyway, I loved it just as much. Thanks, Andrew! Now I'm totally creeped out.
I have until this loved everything Klavan has done. It was a very well written and told story no doubt about it superbly done and even the background sounds were excellent. Having said that I was … well disappointed Christmas is supposed to be happy and care free (reality not withstanding heh) I would have enjoyed this … at say Halloween but it just seemed out of place in a wondrous time like Christmas. Still love you other stuff Klavan!
I have had similar experiences but I think that someone is trying to infect the site. I am not Network or Internet savy enough to confirm, just a suspicion.
You writers sure have a different kind of mind. That put me in a unique kind of christmas spirit. Time to log off now and put my mind back where it belongs, back in the spirit of what this season is really about, family, friends, and most of all the birth of The One who gave so much for those that will listen.

Fits right in with the fine old British tradition of telling scary stories on Christmas Eve (a pastime I always felt Americans should have adopted). Charles Dickens and M.R. James would have been proud.

Christmas is a time of great joy, and this story is scarey, but when we think of facing our past again, it gives me more reason to celebrate Christmas and the hope it brought.
