America’s Peter Pan of Pop
by Amy HolmesI remember reading years ago that Lisa Marie said that, in private, Michael Jackson spoke in a perfectly normal (well…) male voice. By the magic of Google, I found the piece and present it to you. Tina Brown, Washington Post, March 2005. Ms. Brown has a very sharp and unsparing take on America’s Peter Pan of Pop. And in the Rolling Stone interview to which Ms. Brown refers, Lisa Marie is even more devastating about the man behind the man-boy mask:
An interview with Jackson’s ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley by Chris Heath in Rolling Stone in April 2003 would support the “secretly sane” theory. “I was always saying [to Jackson] people wouldn’t think I was so crazy if they saw who the hell you really are,” Presley told Heath. “That you sit around, and you drink and you curse and you’re [expletive] funny and you have a bad mouth, and you don’t have that high voice all the time. I don’t know why you think that works for you, because it doesn’t anymore.”
Ms. Presley, to be sure, has a reason to portray Jackson as less bizarre than people assume. Marrying someone most people regard as an extraterrestrial freak didn’t do a whole lot for her image. (“Ok. Hello,” she expounds. “I was delusionary. I got some romantic idea in my head that I could save him and save the world.”) But it might add some genuine dramatic tension if Jackson turned out to be pop music’s version of Vincent “The Chin” Gigante, the Mafia boss who fooled the justice system for years by shuffling around the streets of Greenwich Village mumbling to himself in his bedroom slippers and bathrobe. If this were true, of course, it would also mean Jackson is just a plain old garden-variety ped, albeit one who instead of hanging around public playgrounds built his own at Neverland.
Amy Holmes, a frequent guest on CNN and HBO’s Real Time, was a speechwriter for former Majority Leader Bill Frist.

That's where my money's at.
Wow, Amy Holmes is hot….
Michael Jackson died? I hadn't heard. Does anyone on the news know?
Apparently, it's the only news item worthy to discuss.
never heard of him…..
So I'm discovering. Cap and trade — the pointless death of the American economy? Eh. A trillion dollars flushed on a useless health care "reform"? Eh. The end of secret ballots for union votes? Eh. North Korean nuking somebody? Eh.
But Michael Jackson dies? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was in that film. . . I think. You know the one. . . with that guy.
Yeah, I saw that one. Didn't care for it much.
Oh right he was the one with the shirt…..
What kind of bizarro world are we in when scientologist Lisa Marie Presley is the voice of reason?

Drink the Fool-Aid Carolyn. . . and you too can find out.
LOL!
No, that was the sequel.
Thank Goodness that JJ jr found the time to stop Congress' work and mention this garden variety ped. He must not have gotten the BHO campaign memo about variety in photo backgrounds, though.
I didn't drink it during the presidential campaign and I'm not going to start now.
why is it that none of you care about poor bubbles the monkey. you are all heartless
Can we all just stop with the philosophical caterwauling over this guy? For his family and friends, yes, it's very sad that he died. A real tragedy for them and them only, not for his legions of fans who never met the man. He was a singer, not God. Big difference.
no kidding. Definite top 10 material. And she is smart and articulate: great for conversatism.
I'm glad she's posting here.
Fine, we'll get you with an iPod. You can't stay awake forever Carolyn. . . you will belong. Hoooo hooo hah hah ha.
Okay, now you're starting to scare me. I've seen every version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
It musta been a Uwe Boll directed one then?
Well there were so many unanswered questions in the original….
Me too, but none of them beat the original. Unless you're talking about sheer terror, then the Obama-version wins hands down.
LOL! So true.
Doesn't Bubbles inherit Corey Feldman??
I shiver at the thought of any movie made by Uwe Boll
Don't worry, I'm sure the Queen has already re-gifted the iPod….
you are insensitive, and intollerant and probably don't even have a "Coexist" bumper sticker.
sheesh.
typical repuglickin, gun clinger, bible reader, anti-CNN, straight up racist…
I know i missed a few but it is just so silly.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh man, you aren't kidding. My husband had this on all last night– drove me nuts. I finally had to leave the room. How many times can you sit through people discussing the same information over and over?
That's true, Andrew. If only they left off the studio tacked on beginning and ending and left it with Kevin McCarthy screaming on the road, "You're next!"
If you believe the news people, we will sit through the same discussion until the next crisis come along. Creepy huh?
If Lisa wanted to convince tghe world thatg Jackson was "normal" – even in this world – she has a tough sell. He kinda lost me with the sleeping with boys part…
Hahaha!
LOL!
I hear Rahm Emanual is delivering that line in the current version.
I actually think that IBS is one of the best horror/scifi movies of the 1950s. It's amazing sophisticated compared to many of its competitors, and it was really well acted and shot. It's one of my favorites.
Is it okay if we mock him because I'm really having fun with that.

We are going to know every excruciating detail whether we want to or not…
In all of the wall to wall coverage, I haven't heard anyone say that Michael Jackson's "Peter Pan" image was a carefully constructed and meticulously maintained charade. He was a grown man, with a deep voice — not an man-child, or sprite, or forest elf. He deliberately projected a neutered, asexual image to obscure his true pedophiliac nature.
I thought most people died, sooner or later? Seems like MJ is just following rules.
Rahm Emanual. Now there's a scary figure.
The original Invasion of the Body Snatchers is wonderful. Don Siegel was such an underrated director. I do like the 1978 version, however. That ending is unforgettable.
It's amazing to me that this angle (that Jackson was only pretending to act child-like in public in order to facilitate his pedophilia) doesn't get more mention in the mainstream press. I dig Amy Holmes by the way– she's gorgeous with a quick wit on TV and a great smile. I completely agree with BuckwheatPicard– Top 10!
My degenerate friends have already provided me with the usual battery of tasteless jokes….
Not to mention we'll hear the opinions of a million "experts". . .
In fact, if anyone who works for the news is listening, I hereby make myself available as an expert. For a small fee, I guarantee that I will say something outrageous, but somewhat plausible.
Geez, Andrew, I guess you're serious about it if you have to say it three times.
Apparently, what you say is not common knowledge in certain circles. . . like newsrooms.
I wonder what kind of drugs Rahm's taking for his dance related injuries.
I have a good one involving Elton John and Jacko
If it's worth saying once, it's worth saying three times (and deleting twice).
Actually, I seem to be having problems posting during the past 20 minutes now.
Man, you must have really ticked off Napolitano.
Well SOMEONE has to get the ball rolling…..
You have no idea! I even complained about my taxes. Clearly, I am worse than Hitler.
that's called CNN
the book was so much better
but Elton John is already a tasteless joke
Vagisil….
But only cult figures and leftist political leaders get instant sainthood.
OMG!! ROFLMAO!! +100 for you!!
Another Carolyn: Me either. The plot was good, but the dialog was terrible. It was so bad, I don't even remember the credits. Wasn't it directed by Alan Smithee?
You mean the pop-up book?
"..whether Jackson will be remembered for the shame or for the art.."
To me at this moment, the shame is what defines Jackson in my mind. Hopefully, in a few years, his art will come out from under the horrifying things he did (and which mothers of his victims let him do) – and the art will finally shine brighter than the horror. But not at this moment. My overwhelming reaction to news of his death is a sigh of relief that at last the morbid shame that his life has descended to has finally come to an end.
Ah, Alan Smithee. What a body of work that man has.
I'm just waiting for the inevitable remake. Can't have too many of those.
Like a rotton Vadalia Onion, the layers of Michael Jackson's life are going to be peeled off in the next few months and we are going to find out just how freaky he really was.
That kiss did me in. I still taste bile when I think of it.
that's the one. it came with free lollypops.
You are sooo right! People forget that Elvis was the real King!
I couldn't help it, Gary was begging me to say it!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
If he needs demerol, I think I know a place in California where he can get some.
Those of us who practiced law occasionally in the Santa Barbara courts got a lot of juicy rumors during the pedophilia trial. Of course we couldn't verify most of them. But the backroom dealings had even hard-bitten attorneys wondering what was going on. And the Fruit of Islam contingent didn't help Jackson's case much either. Not to be ghoulish, but the law is that you can't defame a dead person, so I have a feeling a lot of information is going to be popping up that has been hidden under rocks for years. That's after the big, maudlin, national week of mourning following what promises to be one helluva funeral and/or memorial service.
I've had some posts automatically deleted–makes it hard to find a reason to comment. But I will persist. Napolitano cannot win!
I am just stunned at the amount of media coverage over Jackson's death…Look at the recent killing of William Long and Quinton Ezeagwula who was injured. How LITTLE news was over that and they where shot by a TERRORIST….. damn, media what is this country coming to
indeed, all of us on the dark side (the right) only get cookies. And never get any pie.
Indeed. I always thought Rahm looked like he was feeling less than fresh.
thank ya.. thank ya very much!
I really liked his version of Dune.
Agreed, she'll have to pry my keyboard from my cold dead hands. . . or cut off the power to my house. . . or terminate my internet connection.
Very cold. . . I approve.
Please, take a moment in remembrance for the true King Of Pop culture, celebrity extrordinair, promoter of children, friend to animals, philanthropist and all around wonderful entertainer who elevated his position into a new and exciting profession: Ed McMahon.
Who did you think I was talking about?
Strange, I often see Auntie serving pie around these parts. I'll betcha there is one in the oven now…
Oh the horror…I need a unicorn.
Although on the other hand, it might have been worse….you could've said Preparation H….
thanks for catching up
YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR!
Last night I watched most of his most famous videos, and came to this conclusion: Yes he was a great dancer. But he was limited, and had mastered a small number of signature moves that he did over and over. Coupled with a lot of correographed special effects, he was made to look like a better dancer than he really was. Jean Kelly and Fred Astaire were more complete dancers than he was.

People who do not understand why people are affected by Micheal Jackson perhaps do not have functioning ears , historical memory or sensitive souls. To compare him to other recently dead persons is to miss the point of this unique person.
Michael wasnot a pedo you idiots. If anyone does a LITTLE research you will see he was hiding a part of himself but it's like Lisa Marie said, he hid the one that was into women. Go back to 1993 and ask the question, why was MJ traveling around with the MOTHER of Jordy which is the REAL REASON Evan Chandler, who committed suicide recently, went after his EX WIFE when he saw MJ and June on tv at the World Music Awards in Monacco in May 1993. Evan Chandler then concocted that story when his son returned and he had a custoldy visit with him.
MJ has been in the busines since he was a child. The media is the one begins MJ's dancing ability after Thriller, which is phenomenal but doesn't include BEFORE.
See MJ as the tap dancer here. Remember this is not a trained dancer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPQXTihCZEA
People who limited MJ's dancing ability to AFTER THRILLER are missing out on some of his most exciting dance. Michael was versatile but how come the media never showed MJ TAP DANCING:

June chandler was a crafty mare. No wonder her and evan had been married she was hanging around MJ for herself. Read redemption by geraldine hughes and conspiracy by aphrodite jones. Tom mesereau wanted jordan on the stand in 2005 because he had witnesses to testify jordan had lied for his father go to mjeol 2 community to see the video.
