I Despair
by Ari DavidAmerica has had both good and bad presidents. We have survived and prospered under both types because we are a blessed land of freedom and plenty. The election of Barack Obama is not something I wished to see happen but it is reality and all I can do is go on with my life and hope that the ideas I profess in opposition to his will resonate with others. I can only hope that those who believe in my ideas take action when Obama’s term is up and make wiser choices of leadership for America at that time. Until then, Obama is my president and I have respect for him and wish him the best.
I was not surprised or depressed to see the people that supported Obama celebrating in Chicago on election night. Their party was out of power for eight long years and they deserve to celebrate their return to political relevance. I was not unhappy at all to see black people in America celebrate Obama’s electoral accomplishment. I have believed for many years now that Dr. King’s dream of overcoming was a reality for all people in this country but if it took a man of color to ascend to our nation’s highest office to prove it to black people, I celebrate their happiness. If Obama’s election means an end to racial strife and an end to people longing for equality in our country, then I celebrate that too.
But I do despair.
I despair the reality that Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright have celebrated Obama’s victory. I despair that the foolish ideas of 1960’s radical agitating hippies were not vanquished twenty years ago. I despair that the foolish ideas these people espouse have infiltrated our educational system at all levels and our popular culture in a way that seems like these ideas will be with us in perpetuity.
I despair that Americans, concerned with the economy above all issues, chose socialist solutions to address their fiscal concerns.
I despair that a man who does not understand that a confrontational stance must be taken on foreign policy issues to show our enemies how strong we are will lead the free world during this time of war.
I despair because we have a wonderful life in America and if God forbid a nuclear device were to detonate in one of our cities, the human suffering would be immeasurable. I do not trust that a President Obama would confront an enemy that either threatens us with or undertakes such an act with appropriate military reprisal. Would such an enemy be dealt with as swiftly and as brutally as they would need to be? Major acts of terrorism are military attacks not law enforcement issues, and our retribution for such attacks must be merciless against those who perpetrate them. I worry that Mr. Obama has too much mercy for our enemies.
My deepest despair though, is not for us. We have lived lives savoring the sweet fruit of freedom. My deepest despair is for those peoples who have lived and continue to live under brutal oppression in horrible places in the world without hope for change.
I despair seeing Hugo Chavez celebrating Obama’s victory and believe that his socialist revolution is growing. I despair for all who are forced to live in abject poverty because of Chavez’s foolish ideas of wealth redistribution that now dominate Venezuela by his decree.
I despair for the people of Cuba who are still longing for economic and social freedom to end decades of starvation and oppression. Due to Obama’s victory, they will see the Castro brothers gloating over what they probably perceive as an American ratification of Cuba’s backward Marxist philosophies.
I despair for the people living in the Stalinist prison camp that is North Korea who can look forward to more misery, cold, hunger, torture and darkness because Obama may be willing to ‘sit down and talk’ to their ‘Dear Leader’ face to face.
I despair for the young people in Iran, longing for liberalization through government overthrow, who are going to see Ahmadinajad further legitimized by the West and will see the Islamic regime further tighten its vise-like grip on their country.
I despair for Israelis who are now going to be living in the shadow of a potentially nuclear armed Iran.
I despair for all the Iraqi’s, after having the courage to participate in fledgling democracy, being slaughtered by a new tyranny that may fill the vacuum left by a potentially precipitous American withdrawal.
But I despair most for Kenya, the land of Barack Obama’s father. Until recently Kenya has been one of the safest and most prosperous African nations. I despair for the worsening religious and tribal strife there. I shed tears thinking about the coming Islamic law that Barack Obama has not only failed to speak against in Kenya while visiting as a senator, but through his support for his tribal relative, the tyrannical prime minister Raila Odinga, is actually encouraging.
I despair for the women of Kenya who will soon learn the smothering discomfort and humiliation of the Burkha in the heat of the sub-Saharan African sun.
I despair for the young girls of Kenya who will be learning the painful agony and terror of being forcibly raped by the adult husbands they meet after family arranged marriages.
I despair for all the female human beings of Kenya who will suffer the tearing pain of genital mutilation, the asphyxiation of being buried alive and the searing agony of being burned alive all in the name of Islamic honor.
I despair for all of the men and women of Kenya who will feel the impact of being stoned to death or feel the cutting and hacking of having limbs amputated as punishment for petty crimes like theft and blasphemy. These are the punishments for such crimes in Islamic countries.
I despair for the tribal discord that the non-Islamic people of Kenya will suffer having to make the choice to die, convert to Islam or live in virtual slavery as second class citizens in their native land and pay the tax of Dhimmitude. I despair for the peaceful and loving Christians of Kenya seeing their churches razed and having to practice their devotion to their savior Christ in secret.
I celebrate the black people in America who are today filled with jubilation at the prospect of their bright future but for the future of the many black people of Kenya who are going to be suffering horribly soon, I despair.
I despair because of President Barack Obama’s potential future inaction to help the people of Kenya overcome the horrible oppression of Islamic law. The fact that Kenya is the land of Obama’s paternal ancestors is a tragic irony.
Barack Obama spoke in his Chicago victory speech of America as the beacon for all people of the world and that this beacon still shines brightly. Mr. President-elect Obama, if these tyrants that rule these lands are celebrating your victory because they feel safe with you in office, the beacon of hope that America is known for will not shine at all.
Mr. Obama, until you prove that you have the courage to stand up to evil by using American military might unilaterally with moral righteousness and moral indignation motivating your actions, I will despair.
Mr. Obama, I beg you to please prove the despair I feel unfounded by being a strong, responsible, just and reliable leader of the United States of America. The greatest nation the world will ever know because of our ability to confront tyranny, liberate the suffering people of the world and provide a safe haven for the downtrodden to live in freedom and pursue happiness, the rarest of worldly luxuries.

Alex, you should be happy to know then that we will no longer be a mouthpiece for Israel under the Obama administration. But what you are also getting with the new administration is no control over Istrael's military responses. It is to Israel's great credit that they have tempered their responses because of US-Israeli relations up until now. Now, they will be free to take unilateral, full force responses to Hamas, Hezebollah and Iran. They are condemned by the world just because they have the temerity to exist! They can and will take care of the Islamic terrorist problem because the rest of the world is too queazy and cowardly to now take it on. God bless Israel and it's right to exist!
Do not despair Ari, the anointed One will take
care of
every thing,
and every
one.
.. in time.
Mr. David, you have just articulated in an eloquent manner my feelings on the ascension of Barack Obama to the Presidency and more. I sincerely hope his time in office won’t last longer than four years. Thanks for writing the article.
Mr. David, I despaired 6 months because I knew the Election was over with the choice of McCain. You win some-you lose some.
I am a child raised in the hippie generation–even though my parents were about as far from “far-out” as is idealistically possible.
I watched t.v. news casts in horror during the civil rights struggle. I remember forced integration and busing and real Church bombings. I argued with racist friends over the merits of equality. I wasn’t on the front lines, but I was on the “right side.”
I remember reading in the “letters to the editor” of SEVENTEEN magazine angry young women readers, upset that a Negro was featured on the cover and I was thrilled that I was so “color blind” that I hadn’t even noticed.
So, somehow, when I see a person of color as president, my initial reaction is, “wow, cool.” (Sorry. That is my initial reaction.) Then when a split second later I realize and remember that it is Obama I am looking at, I get depressed.
I wish the first elected person of color was someone I could be proud of, or at least feel like I was happy for.
You should also be despairing about the stealth jihad taking place in the United States.
There are a lot of things I dislike about President Obama (especially his shady past here, which gives me pause as to his honesty and sincerity), but I think this column is over-reaching. I doubt his Presidency is going to be an utter disaster. I’m actually more worried about Pelosi & Reid (two of the weakest leaders the Democrats have ever given us) having more influence than they should. With a Republican Congress, I think Obama would be fine as a President. He’s just a little too comfortable voting “present” for my comfort level.
The arrogance of Barrack Obama is already evident in his his attitude and statements since taking the oath of office. Watching him sign his first executive orders while pontificating to the fawning press and the Democratic “leadership” was almost surreal. Nightline called it a “teaching moment”. Teaching moment? Is he Socrates? Jesus Christ? He is a Chicago politician, born and bred. I know, I have lived in Chicago all of my adult life. What he knows — is politics! And dirty politics at that. Most Chicago pols know what they are, but I have a growing suspicion that he really does think that he is the Messiah of our age. God help us!
So from Lola, we get this:
I despair that this guy apparently doesn’t understand that in a Representative Republic such as ours where the first and most prime right is free speech cannot deal with a radio talk show host. I despair people in the opposition party cannot understand that we do not need to respect a man who tells our political leadership they need to do certain things if they want to get along. I despair that we have a bully running the country.
Just for the record, the above paragraph is exactly what bitter Lefties were saying after G.W. Bush was re-elected in 2004. Funny, that. Turns out some emotional states are universal.
Oh. And for those educating children at home, we live in a Constitutional Republic.
If the Republicans hadn’t allowed their party to become a mouthpiece for Israel and Zionists and kept up a war for Israel that serves no American interest in Iraq, they would not have lost. Ron Paul was the best candidate by far. Droves of YOUNG people rallied for him. Traditional Democrats liked him. Republicans would love a former Reaganite.
But the Zionist kooks (with names like Perl, Wolfowitz, Fleisher, Feith, etc…) couldn’t allow an end to the gravy train for Israel.
Oh, dear Lola. I point out the obvious — your complaint is identical to Michael Moore’s, among others, back in 2004 — and the best you can do is some second-rate Coulterian insult?
:We’ve just seen that you don’t even know what kind of republic you live in. Why should we take anything you say seriously?
Arrogance and ignorance paired. What a spectacle.
Samuel
Since we're recommending books, who don't you read 'The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.
You “despair?”
Give me a break.
What are you, 11?
“Despair” was Bush/Cheney. We finally have someone in the White House with the intellect and vision needed to re-engage U.S. citizens in their country as well as restore U.S. respect and relevance internationally.
Don’t “despair,” grasshopper; get up out of the fetal position, shut off talk radio, grow up and forget about Ayers and Wright (they have no seat at the table), and quit whining.
Kevlaur,
May I add to your points…
Saddam was shooting at American military aircraft weekly; had started two wars causing over a million dead; violated 17 UN resolutions over 12 years; had stockpiles of chemical weapons (and we still don’t know what happened to them); was committing genocide inside Iraq; and was supporting terrorists outside of Iraq. Among other things.
It was long past time to clean up Iraq and convert it into a base for dealing with other regional problems – as has now been done — by George Bush acting virtually alone among world leaders and against most allegedly “progressive” “thinkers” (sneer quotes deliberate).
The lefty focus on Al-Qaeda is a shallow distraction for (and from) very limited intellects.
Despair this: When they close Gitmo, they will send the inmates back to their countries. The countries will try and convict them, then send them to jail. Months or years later, the inmates will escape from their country’s jails and go back to commiting terrorism. Or the countries won’t even bother with the trials and let the inmates walk away.
These guys weren’t no Sunday School Teachers. They were bad people.
Then, again, it’s the same thing that happened after the Nuremberg trials so really history’s just repeating itself.
Maybe Obama can get the inmates to promise that they’ll try to refrain from killing anyone on their way home….

‘Article”, you moron.
I despair for all those who voted for him JUST because they thought he was black. I despair we have a president who won based on affirmative action and not the best candidate for the job. I despair for the unborn child. I despair for the increased blood on the land brought by this president. I despair for the rights of gun owners and Christians, free speech and for the inevitable application of socialism yet to come. I despair, I despair.
I despair for all those who had the wool pulled over their eyes and were caught up in the frenzy, voting blindly.
Mr. Obama, Abe Lincoln fought for the lives of those he did not know, you take the lives of those you’ll never meet. Mr. Obama, you are NOT President Lincoln.
Lola, “PMSNBC?” Do you need to mimic Rash Limbo, or can you come up with your own material?
Most Excellent and on target!
I spoke with a gentleman close to my age this morning about the sad lack of knowledge that prevades the American people. The overwhelming majority of people no longer read…they listen to or watch news being fed to them the way PRAVDA and SOVIETFOTO did for 80 years. They have no idea about the world. Few know the difference between cities and states, between nations and continents (Australia is the only continental nation).
At least this young writer understands. Yes! There are great things to celebrate in some respects. The color barrier is gone. Of course, it would have been if Colin Powell or Condie Rice had run as well. But it does mean that the notion that white and black are not equal has been laid to rest. Maybe the rise of Obama will spark critical thought about the TRUE legacy of slavery in America.
The fact is, America is where the experiment was AGAIN tried and FIRST failed. AMERICANS ultimately rejected slavery and way before most other nations. AMERICA is the land where nearly 600,000 mostly WHITE men and women fought to end it.
I wonder how often the NAACP reminds it’s people that the REPUBLICAN PARTY was founded on the platform of abolition and freedom. The fact is, the first 100 years after the civil war, DEMOCRATS weere the most likely sponsors of the KLAN, the segregation of peoples, the economic slavery that persisted after the Emancipation Proclamation was given. How many young Americans got THAT history lesson in High School? Probably not many!
I wonder how many young black Americans know that Dr. KING was himself a conservative and not a liberal, far more closely aligned with the Republican Party than Democrats? King was definately NOT connected to Afro-centrist liberation theology vocalized by bigoted racists like Jeramiah Wright?
Yet at this moment in time, Robert Reich is ready to throw anyone not of color under the bus. Nope, not even allowed to ride it. Who made him GOD? Oh wait! It was the people that voted for hope and change.
Now I wonder how all those COAL, STEEL and AUTO WORKERS in MICHIGAN, OHIO, WEST VIRGINIA and PENNSYLVANIA are going to feel when unemplyment hits 33% in their states as a result of KYOTO and the Obamafication of the economy (socialism is an out-word)?
I wonder just how does the new President of the World, the new Messiah, the man who offerd hope and change ensure that his message is not simply the echo of all those leaders who espoused EXACTLY the same words to their people with disasterous results? Please young people, you did at least learn about leaders named Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Castro, Po Pot, Amin and other arrogant sycophants that destroyed HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of LIVES in the 20th century. Why yes! The “HOPE AND CHANGE” phrase MADE SO POPULAR BY PRESIDENT OBAMA was pretty warn out by those guys that guided the world through the last century.
Frankly, if we GET the kind of government we are promised, there will be a LOT of HOPE and some pretty dramatic change as in all the afore mentioned cases. People will be hoping that their lives will be changed by someone else. People will be WAITING for someone ELESE to do something for them. Enough with the GERBER DIET FOLKS. YOU need to grow up, be responsible and get over the silly notion that EVERYONE ELSE owes you something. You get air and laws that hopefully protect you from random violence, but otherwise, you are on your own as adults. START living that way.
The real Messiah promised one thing in the last days, that evil would be called good and good would be called evil. That at least we know is true. Oh how I wish we had found a capable leader of any color, any race who understood that pithy platitudes and cleaver slogans do not a leader make. I fear as the writer above does that America’s people have been sold a mess of pottage. Our youth are too poorly educated and ignorant to know what they have brought about, much like the masses of young communists did in 1918 Russia. Are we also in for 80 years of darkness? Sadly, I fear as much as well.
Lola, honey, there is nothing less attractive than an angry, mean-spirited, right-wing woman. Think Coulter, Malkin, Ingraham: not enough insight or originality between them to figure out a new schtick. And you are right there with ‘em….
Keep your radio, on, sweetie: you don’t wanna miss a talking point!
It still amazes me that the left will not let their hatred of Bush die. I’m so glad that he gets to go home and live a somewhat normal life now with this wonderful family and enjoy the fresh breezes in Texas. I’ve never seen such hatred towards one man in my lifetime. I think it all stemmed and was fueled by the election loss in 2000. They never ever got over the feeling they had that evening and the months that followed. I believe that they should have “Bush Derangement Syndome” therapy if this doesn’t end with their guys win.
pete sez:
“Interesting. 9/11 was committed by Saudi nationals encamped in Afghanistan. So, ultimately, do you think it was a wise move by Herr Bush to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11?”
Interesting, pete. Do you believe that hussein lived up to his terms of surrender with the United Nations? That is, that he fully and completely accounted for or destroyed all weapons of mass destruction in expeditious fashion?
If such is the case, why did the clinton administration make “regime change” in Iraq official US Public policy in 1998, based on the premise that Hussein had not done accounted for or destroyed his WMDs?
Hussein’s failure to live up to the terms of the agreement with the UN was a resumption of hostilities. He did not live up to the agreement. Hostilities were resumed.
pete further states:
“Germany had FORMALLY declared war on us, Iraq had done no actual thing.”
Firing at and/or targeting planes on a daily basis constitutes same. Attempting to assassinate a former US president constitutes same.
lou says:
“You “despair?”
Give me a break.
What are you, 11?
“Despair” was Bush/Cheney.”
Uh, lou- what are you, 12?
“Appreciate The Intelligence”: surely you aren’t referencing Bush’s “intelligence”, either personal or his ignoring of the PDB prior to 9/11?
We, too, are glad that war criminal is back in Texas–he did enough damage with his incompetence and ignorance for the last 8 years.
Samuel,
Your opinion really only matters to the others to whom you beholden. Have a nice life!!
SAMUAL…one of the problems you will have in making any criticism of someone like ANN COULTER stick with educated people is the fact that almost every line in an ANN COULTER book is WELL DOCUMENTED. Of course yo probably went to schools where 2=3 because its a close estimate, where it’s more important to know how to put on a condem and where a history lesson is knowing the names of Michael Jacksons brothers. The realisty is, you have not likely ever READ any of COULTER’s works. I on the other hand have read Trotsky, Lenin, Marx. I know darn good and well what I am going to get with the likes of Jeramiah Write and Barak Obama.
But since you are an obvious genius, perhaps you could explain to us this odd paradox:
For half a century, HOLLYWOOD leftists have complianed, written about, recorded, filmed and made known every conceivable story of hardship suffered at the direct hand of the evil Joe McCarthy? Now here is the little problem with that, with all the memois, with the biographies and autobiographies, all the interviews etc….
SENATOR Joeseph McCarthy was NEVER involved with the HOUSE (OF REPRESENTATIVE for those of you under age 40) UN-AMERICAN ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE that conducted all those hearings a little more than half a century ago. How do you explain the dozens of history books, etc that all remind the next generation of how evil McCarthy (and Republicans) were when in fact, McCarthy, a Senator chaired the SENATE’s NATIONAL SECURITY COMMITTEE. They never investigated a single private citizen. McCARTHY only investigated government officials, about 130 in all. Interestingly enough, of the 130, the archivists of the former Soviet Union and KGB confirmed in 1995 that 129 were indeed SOVIET SPIES. They could neither confirm or deny the last one on the basis of stored Soviet papers, but I think the point is pretty clear. McCARTHY was right all along.
Oh and who was it that DID actually grill and persecute the black-listed 300? Why his name was John Stephans Wood, THE DEMOCRAT who did chair the HUAAC from 1947 through 1953. It’s odd the way history has covered up the villin and created one out of a true hero. So shocking is the TRUTH, so disturbing to HOLLYWOOD that all their recollections are lies easily verified by papers, journals, minutes of meetings and events held in the Library of Congress that George Clooney set about to produce, direct and act in the motion picture “Good Night and Good Luck” in order to educate the NEXT generation about history the way it has to be rather than the way it really was (much like Oliver Stone’s fanciful rewrites of History in Kennedy).
Hollywood is powerful. Media is powerful. Free Speech is powerful. Unfortunately with the great blessing of free speech comes PRAVDA (TRUTH) which was not much more than 80 years of lies in order to make sure the masses believed what the KREMLIN wanted them to believe. Young people, the left will always call honest people names, shout them down in the square or discount them like SAMUAL does with Ann Coulter. But his digs do not an honest evaluation make. SHE at least footnotes her facts. Footnoting facts is something the left never attempts.
Led, take a breath.
Obama’s been in office three days; give the man a chance. This is just a little too much intellectual hand-wringing, even for me. Bear in mind that Barack has the right to take snaps at Rush, too, which I find sort of refreshing…as long as he respects Limbaugh’s rights to free speech as well.
LOLA…SAMUAL TOLD ME TO TAKE A BREATH. AM I ALLOWED TO? After all, I will exhale CO2, which although it enures completely to the benefit of the botanical world that self regulates it’s atmospheric content is somehow now going to be master-manipulated by man.
Anyway LOLA, I loved yor crack-down on SAMUAL’s studliness. Personally, I think it is the result of a horrible childhood incident when the sensitive SAMUAL was never able to get the PBJ in pre-school. Some bigger bully kid always took his PBJ and made him eat the Hamwich instead.
That is why HIS OBAMA is the new GOD. President BHO (which can alsy be changed around to HBO) will ensure through HOPE and CHANGE PBJ’s for everyone, every table, two PBJ’s on every plate. Since SAMUAL was a child…wait 30 years later he’s still a child…no matter, he grew up with history by Olver Stone, morality taught by Sharon Stone and a culture dominated by the Rolling Stones and that is precisely why he HAS NO STONES.
BTW, Led, it was the right’s hero—Ronal Reagan–who secretly ratted out Hollywood people he suspected were “unAmerican.”
So, your boy was a cowardly snitch.
Wood, BTW, was a Southern redneck and a Democrat. The Democratic party of 1947 was hardly the Democratic party of 2009.
But, hey: nice try.
Bruce says:
“to flush that freedom down a dictatorial sewer.”
I chose Bruce’s words because his was the most illustrative of leftist insane rantings.
Though Samuel collectively calling anyone who doesn’t think exactly like him “the rest of the brain dead” and then points to an opinion piece as some sort of empirical truth that he is a thoughtful intelligent being are big red flags to anyone and they should know to stay away from directly engaging these people.
The Bruce’s and Samuel’s of the world are basically viruses and boils on civil discourse. So far the Democrats haven’t found a cure for these diseases that has so infected their political brethren but I’m pretty sure that trying to engage them in conversation only makes the germs spread, so it’s probably best to ignore them.
Many in the MSM commented how peaceful and respectful Obama’s inauguration ceremony was among the masses. Perhaps they were hoping that Barack’s presidency was ushering in a new civility.
Actually the real calculus that made the day a joyful celebration of America’s great democracy was that conservatives are now in the opposition, hence the lack of acrimony, protests and crybabying on the mall.
Sheryl, the “calculus” on the Mall was that those 1 or 2 million were relieved that Bush/Cheney were finally slinking out of Dodge.
“Conservatives” were rejected on Election Day. Obama won. Deal with it.
Ari,
Looks like a lively discussion due to your article this morning. I very much appreciate you taking the time to articulate some similar feelings I am having, as well.
For the millions of Americans, who did not support President Obama on November 4, remember, we are now ‘the loyal opposition’ and it is my sincere hope, that we will find a way to conduct ourselves with integrity
while keeping our passions in check, with those who we may disagree with.
This is a great opportunity we have to lead by example in the face of our most recent defeat.
Your article is a step in the right direction.
Classy.
Keep your head up, my friend, do not despair.
LIES, LIES AND MORE IGNORANCE.
1) Was IRAQ allied with Al Queda?
NOT Directly because Saddam was as much hated by Islamic Fundamentalists as the Saudi Princes to the south. Tha Taliban was Al Quieda’s protector. But Al Queda was clearly financed with western oil money via the Saudis and other ME governments. To think that in a part of the world where the enemy of my enemy is my brother did not apply to IRAQ is crazy. If that were so, why did Saddam’s OWN government target and destry it’s main archive, operation, central bank and records buildings? Better than 90% of what IRAQ was involved in went up in flames before one Tom Cruise missile was launched.
2) Was IRAQ a producer of WMD’s?
Yes! Please refer to the numerous volumes on the subject and sanitized down to a relatively short but highly respected article in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE (nOV 2002).
3) Were WMD’s the reason we invaded IRAQ?
I seem to remember a variety of reasons including Regime Change proposed and sponsored FIRST by the affible womanizer President Clinton in 1998. But I digress…. The fact is, we AMERICANS and the BRITISH intelligence KNEW for certain about the 550 MT of processed Uranium (not enriched) Yellow-cake held in a facility 12 miles south of Baghdad. THAT was sole reason enough to go into IRAQ but explaining why may require you to connect more than 3 synapse together….nevertheless, here goes.
4) WAS THE YELLOW CAKE DANGEROUS?
Not if Betty-Croker was the maker. Otherwise that would be a great big YES! What part of “highly radioactive material” do all the metrosexuals not understand? A few train-cars of the stuff (550 Metric Tons) would make one heck of a lot of suitcase sized dirty bombs. Now lest yo think those are just sacks carted around by Charls Schultz’ loveavle cartoon child Pigpen, the reality is anly a few hundred pounds of the stuff could kill or injure 1000 x the number of Allied and American Lives expended in getting to it in IRAQ over the last five years. So explain to me SAMUAL and others like you….what would you have said about the BUSH adminsitration if a few of THOSE had made their way into PARIS, FRANKFORT, LONDON, MADRID, TEL AVIV, NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES, CHICAGO, TORANTO and that was just presupposing that Saddam was going to share only small amounts?
CONCLUSION?
BUSH managed to SIT QUETLY along with TONY BLAIR and the CANADIAN PM’s Jean Cretian, Paul Martine and Stephen Harper who ALL kept their mouths shut for five years. Those men should be thanked. They put their political reputations and egos aside while the left harped repeatedly about NO-WMD’s…which while technically correct was clearly a distortion of the real threat all along. BUSH has been villified when in fact, he bit the political bullett, protected the allied troops while they quietly packaged it up and carefully shipped every last pound of it (1,210,000 lbs for those of you who get your news from PMSNBC) out of IRAQ, disguised as oil cargo… TO CANADA where it is all being refined into nuclear fuel pellets for energy reactors in North America.
In case you’re wondering, SADAM did have the machinary (large centrifuges) necessary to at least refine the materials further to make them even more deadly.
Now SAMUAL, here is my question for you.
ARE YOU HONEST ENOUGH TO ADMIT THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW THIS ABOUT YOR PRESIDENT AND THE IRAQ WAR?
Didn’t think so, but the removal is now well documented although some idiots are claiming post revelation that we had no reason to go into IRAQ after it since CLINTON and OTHERS knew this material was there all along! That’s the most LAME explaination from the LEFT for villifying a policy that very likely saved hundreds of thousands and possibly even millions of lives throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Sheryl says:
“The Bruce’s and Samuel’s of the world are basically viruses and boils on civil discourse. So far the Democrats haven’t found a cure for these diseases.”
And why would they even try, this is part of their base.
Sheryl,
Excellent comments!!! Bruce and Samuel sure got their clocks cleaned. Ouch!
Where do you get your “facts,” Led, WorldNetDaily?
Iraq was never a threat to the United States. Ever.
It’s almost 6 years later and we’re still in Iraq. Why?
Oh, never mind, Led. In your cubicle there are no such thing as “facts.”

On that I totally concur! His article was classy, articulate and 100% right on target!
I find it interesting that the OBAMAFIED respondents have said not word ONE about the realities of Avi’s comments on KENYA and other enslaved peoples. It would do us all well to remember a few poignient axioms of truth relating to the great and true civil rights m,ovement in America that began with men like Payne, Adams, Jefferson and came to a head in Dr. Martain Luther King:
King asked for some very DIFFERENT things than todays marxist dominated left. KING wanted:
1) The right to sit on the bus, any bus, in any place. King did NOT lobby and die for free bus tickets.
2) The right to sit at the lunch counter, any lunch counter, to order from any menu in any restaurant. He never asked for a free lunch or food stamps.
3) The right to education, access to any institution of higher learning, any seat in any char on the same basis for which all other students competed. At no time did Dr. King ask for minority scholarships or affirmative action entry. He viewed such programs as pandering and belittling of all people.
4) The right to drink water from any fountain, to walk on any sidewalk and to compete in business on the basis of delivery, not on the basis of skin color. He never asked for “set asides and preferences.”
5) King desired for all people to have equal and fair access to jobs and apprenticeships, not make work and hand-outs.
6) King wanted his children to be able to sit in the halls of government and to represent the people, not a specific color of people.
7) King wanted and fought for fair housing, equal opportunity employment and access to the same health care as all other people. He didn’t ask for it to be free or granted with special priveleges so long as the husband was driven from the home and child left fatherless.
9) King looked with hope to a time when a Black man, Asian Man, White man of Jewish or Hispanic descent, i.e. any man OR WOMAN, could rise to the highst stations and office in the land. He didn’t expect great men like Clarence Thomas to be villified for thinking so much like him.
10) King above all else reminds the best in us to judge all men (and women) by the CONTENT of their characters and not the color of their skin. One of my favorite movies is Deep Impact wherein Morgan Freeman gives and exceptionally moving performance as the president of the United States in disasterous times. Mr. OBAMA is NO MORGAN FREEMAN and that saddens me. Conversely, I know little of Mr. Freeman’s politics but note with joy the types of spiritual or deep thinking characters he has played throughout his life. I would have voted for him in a heartbeat over Hopy McChange or John McCain because, I think Morgan Freeman portrays those whom he most likely emulates in his private life. Sometimes what you see really IS what you get.
Samuel, it isn’t about hating the left or anything like that. It is understanding the true worth of country, of freedom and the price of it. Your emporer has taken office without new clothes. Sadly, those of us on the right have seen his kind and heard his platitudes far too many times in other nations before. WE GET IT. AYN RAND understood it. George ORWELL predicted it. You don’t and most likely never will!
Ari, thanks for your honesty.
I hope everyone signs the petition to support Dutch politician Geert Wilders, now being persecuted basically for thought crimes – go to http://www.petitiononline.com/wilders/petition.html
Also, anyone who has not signed up for action alerts at http://actforamerica.org should do so immediately.
Thanks again.
It’s almost 6 years later and we’re still in Iraq. Why?
So that we can keeping laughing at idiot-bumpkins who would be historians making mind-numbingly dumb statements about geo-politics.
Listen, Samuel, you need to read a book. Please. Read something worthwhile. At least once a decade. You know, a book with references and quotations and analysis, not ‘Curious George Believes Everything He Sees on TV (Especially If It Involves Big Explosions and Stuff).
How’d your little prediction that the war was hopelessly lost in 2006 work out? Not well? If you got even that wrong, it abrogates everything else you have to say. You screwed up royally on a very important, central issue in which you’ve undoubtedly claimed to have insight. Never again should people like be given the slightest consideration in matters of geo-politics. You were given a test and you got an “F” on it.
Frankly, you stink at analysis. Stick to chanting slogans and leave matters of war and peace to adults with an IQ over 100, or a general knack for having a clue. You’ve got neither.
Ari, I too despair for the billions who may have believed the United States might help liberate them from tyranny. Now, with this president and his party, who look inward only to bolster their own power–power that will not be used to help liberate anyone but enslave everyone to an almighty government, I despair for Americans.
Madelyn, the Dems have always agreed that U.S. intelligence left a lot to be desired. But your staggering ignorance fails to get to the bottom line: Albright was Clinton’s secretary of state, but you didn’t see that administration cook the intelligence to start a needless war against a “potential” threat rather than a “real” one.
Grow up, honey. Your side lost because they were incompetent.
Deal with it.

Sorry Samuel, President Bush, and the congress, and the senate, including Ms. Hillary Rodham Clinton had the same intelligence reports about Iraq that Bill Clinton had.
And the Clinton administration did nothing about the previous attacks made on our country except toss a few missiles to cover his backside after the Monica affair became known.
BTW – we lost because Democrats lied and distorted the truth and the Republican party sat there and did nothing and said nothing after President Bush refused to stand up to the lies and distortions.
But then again, if you would go back in history beyond the Bush administration you would know that!
“BTW, Led, it was the right’s hero—Ronal Reagan–who secretly ratted out Hollywood people he suspected were “unAmerican.””
BTW, Samuel, Ronald Reagan DID NOT secretly rat out Hollywood people he suspected were un-American. If nobody has asked you to get your facts straight yet, I’ll say it now, get your facts straight.
Sorry, Morgan. It’s a matter of public record. Take your head out of, um, wherever it is and look it up.
SAMUEL…WHAT WORLD ARE YOU LIVING IN? Your language of pithy slogans and sound bites is annoying enough without yor pretending it’s intellectual discourse. “Cooked Intelligence?”
What part of 550 Metric Tons of URANIUM YELLOW-CAKE were yo NOT understanding. While CLINTON didn’t send troops into IRAQ, he did lob more than 100 cruise missiles into IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN, but then you were probably busy listening to your favorite Hip-Hop crap to notice. Last time I checked, salvoing even ONE MISSILE into a foreign country is an act of war.
I am assuming like most of the nearly brain dead left, a “potential” threat isn’t a real threat until they’ve actually killed at least one New Yorker or more than a few hundred thousand of their OWN people. Dude, you are NOT going to win an intellectual battle with informed rational people that do more than scope the yellow pages for weed suppliers. You have yet to offer any cogent argument or basic fact that is actually supportable. Those of us debating you on the other hand have given you AMPLE information to perhaps rethink your anemic position. We get that you love OBAMA. We get that you desire HOPE and CHANGE. But dude, get off the pot and start realizing that in BARAK’s world where MUSLIM FUNDAMENTALISTS are yor friend, your new friend might just want to follow through on his desire to do away with you, and me and anyone else that doesn’t accept the silly premise that, oh I don’t know, that….
IF GOD IS ALL POWERFUL ENOUGH to create the heavens and the earth, the oceans and plains, all life, all humans, all the beauty here and in the universe’ HOW THEN can this GOD be so incredibly feeble as to need women and children dressed in C4 robes to win his battles in crowded market places. I see GOD’s hand in the wonders in the stars, the universe, the simple yet enormously complex cell under a microscope and the multi-colored canyons of the southwest. I don’t need children to blow themselves up to believe. For some reason, they do! That just doesn’t sound like an very almighty God to me. It sounds like horibly misguided bunch of very stupid and ignorent men fighting on behalf of God’s Adversary.
You might want to think about that.
Sorry, Led. I live in the reality-based world, not the fantasy world of “gods.”
Reread your history, Einstein. Your “facts” are wrong, and that IS my “cogent argument.”
And I haven’t seen the comments of the “informed rational people” on this site, that’s for damn sure.
What’s the matter, DI Butler? Don’t like dissenting voices on “your” site?
Tough. Deal with it.
Samuel, I have looked it up, and I repeat, Reagan DID NOT rat out any Hollywood people he suspected were un-American. Check it out for yourself.

Morgan, it wasn’t ON THE RECORD. He did it covertly, and he did it repeatedly.

Morgan:
Start here, also read the book “Hollywood Radical”, or read the documents available under the Freedom of Information Act…
http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/81186
MORGAN is correct. There is one important detail in all this. RONALD REAGAN was one of the very first screen actors and Hollywood icons to be interviewed over these issues. Then Chairman, J. Parnell Thomas, soon resigned from his position as Chairman of the committee and was replaced by John Stephens Wood (DEM-Georgia) from 1947-1953. The committee had a long standing history of looking into domestic espianage and subversive activities. Hollywood’s leftest elite began surfacing in strength in the mid 30’s, were pretty much forgotten during the pro-Stalin 40’s and so the real ugliness began when WOOD took over. All those Hollywood stars and starletts that remember being persecuted by SENATOR JOE McCARTHY never hacuallty happened. The Senate never conducted those types of hearings or investigations of private citizens. McCARTHY was as mentioned befor, vigilent and relentless in digging out communist agents working for the KGB and it’s surrogates. Again as I previously mentioned, he was right in 129 of 130 investigations. The left owning however virtually owned the media and with the assistance of liars like Edward R. Murrow, transformed WOOD into a non-person and McCARTHY into Satan himself over the decade that followed 1953.
Geez SAMUEL…let it rest. You are more consumed with hatred for REAGAN than with the actual FACTS that are documented and well known. Answe me this, is McCARTHY a hero or a goat now that you KNOW the facts? Was WOOD the real goat and if so, I wonder what the HOLLYWOOD LEFT TODAY would think if they realized that the HUUAC persecutions came primarily under the DEMOCRATIC party, along with the KKK, the most vigorous opposition to the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT and the VOTING RIGHTS ACT enacted in the early 60’s. Al Gores father visciously opposed them along with more than half the Democratic Party. Wow, aren’t HARD SOLID FACTS fun SAMUEL? Your party is the party of:
DIVISION
RACIAL PROFILING
RACE BATING
RACIAL PREFERENCES
That seems a LONG way from the words, “…content of character rather than color of skin!”
I loved Dr. King. I loved Lincoln. I think they would be deeply ashamed of how their truly great legacy was hyjacked by cleaver politicians, pimps, shysters and frontmen. Todays civil right leaders play a game of three-card-montie that beholden minorities can never win. Leaders like Jessie Jackson and Louis Farakkan are the new task masters because they say you are dependent upon them for everything. They disgust me.
Never forget these words by Doug Stewert:
Freedom has a price.
Always it is high.
Sometimes a man must give all he can.
Sometimes a man must die,
and give away all his tomorrows,
for those of a future day
Who’ll never understand the sorrows,
or the price that someone had to pay.
King, Lincoln, and others died for their cause of freedom. Why do you want to go back to slavery. Economic slavery is the same thing. It’s just that a medium of exchange (cash taken as onerous taxation) has replaced direct demand labor. Remember SAMUEL, the founding fathers of this nation FOUGHT the shakles of their OWN slavery, devoting their lives, their fiortunes and their sacred honor to the pledge – all over a 3% sales tax on Tea and Tobbacco. I think somewhere along the line, their vision of a free and independent state has been sadly changed.
May I offer up another view. For the US Soldier, I despair when I think that he will be sent to Kenya or similar country to “right a wrong” or other such drivel. US Soldiers should risk their life to defend the US, and no other country. If this author wants to go to Kenya and risk his life, he is free to do so. Leave my son and his son alone, to live their lives without your moral cause interrupting.
For the US taxpayer, I despair that no “good cause” anywhere in the world seems worth passing on, especially if you are a govt official with an open checkbook. We have TONS of US citizens in need right here who go to bed hungry and poor. Lets take care of them shall we?
Isolation? Try it, you might like it.
HOLY COW SAMUEL, you are quoting from an easily discredited author who is one of the chief perpetrators of the McCARTYISM lies of the 50’s. The reviewer carefully footnoted this about the book you source for your comments on Reagan:
“Notes:
1. Arthur Miller´s finest play was the “Crucible,” which debuted in 1953. It was about the Salem witch trials, but it also served as an attack on the evils of McCarthyism, then rampant in the U.S.”
Now as I had previously indicated that truly scholarly work searching the real archives of the Federal Government, congressional records and the Library of Congress show quite clearly that NOBODY in HOLLYWOOD was EVER investigated by SENATOR Joseph McCarthy. Therefore Miller is plainly lying about McCARTHY and so why not also lie about a popular president that had numerous friends and also numerous enemies in and around Hollywood. Since MILLER is completely uncredible on McCarthy, his herculean effort to slander Reagan is pretty pathetic.
Now the fact is, Reagan may very well have “ratted” out comunests but if he did, only the LEFT would deem that a terrible thing…the snitch.
Well thankfully some snitch ratted out Ethal and Julius ROSENBERG to the inquireing Joeseph McCarthy. But they were scientists and working in a top secret government program, not some preppy popular screen team from the corner of Wilshire and Sunset. They WERE investigated by McCarthy, found guilty of treason and later put to death for trading nuclear secrets to Stalinist Russia. For all the tens of thousands of apologist papers written about this purported miscarriage of justice, the Russians revealed in 1995 that in fact they were on the KGB payroll and had passed secrets regarding the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. Sort of makes all that garbage written to exonerate them look pretty STUPID now doesn’t it.
But since McCarthy had nothing to do with HOLLYWIERD, it’s fairly clear that MILLER is a lier with an agenda and therefore anything he has printed about Reagan can’t be particulary scholarly or reliable.
As I said, ARMEDDAD: ALSO check all the documents available under the Freedom of Information Act.
And, really now: you don’t think one of your right-wing writers would ever expose your Messiah Ronnie RayGun, do you?
Led: Hey dumba$$: McCarthy was conducting a witch-hunt on people INSIDE the government; Hollywood wasn’t his chief concern.
You read too much Stan Coulter.
McCarty was a drunken pig.
BELLOFF – I almost completely concur with your wisdom in light of the words of our founding fathers, but the fact is, we live in a much different word. Even then isolationish was inadequate as practiced by Jefferson and eventually America was dragged into the European Conflict we now call the War of 1812.
Isolationism was used to thwart JAPAN and it only made them respond with aggression. We tried to remain isolated when Hitler was busy making HOPE and CHANGE promises to Lord Chamberlain. We know how well that worked out too.
While I am wholly sympathetic to your comments, having a son of military age as well as a grandsone that will reach that age in a very dangerous world, the fact remains that we are a nation that can in no simple way be isolationist. To do so, we might find some temporary peace and respite or security here, much like the TURKEY does as he prances about the coop uncaring just before the forth Thursday in November. But that Thursday always comes for fatted birds and to think we can simply remain home and remain free, truly free is a pipe dream.
Madelyn: Clinton isn’t Bush, who we were talking about, and Sudan isn’t Iraq.
Are in a 6-year quagmire in Sudan?
Move along, honey: your fiction doesn’t hold water.
Reagan was a snitch during his Hollywood years. As Anthony Summers makes clear in his book Official and Confidential: The Secret Life of J. Edgar Hoover, the “Gipper” had his own code name – “T-10” – and regularly provided the FBI with information on Communists, real, imagined and manufactured. Victor Navasky’s Naming Names documents as well how Reagan, then the head of the Screen Actors Guild, kept the FBI well informed about “disloyal” actors. During Reagan’s Moscow Summit, the President met with Russian students to discuss communism and capitalism. In a speech too simple to be included in Communism for Idiots, the President dusted off his old theoretical writings from Reader’s Digest and Boy’s Life and told the students why Marx was evil and unbridled capitalism good.
Uh SAMUEL. I think I am the one that is educating YOU on who Joe McCARTHY was and now that you AGREE WITH ME, he wasn’t investigating HOLLYWOOD, but rather spies in the US Government, I need you to explain yor PIG comment. You see, your “witch-hunt” comment would be wonderful and full of sense if AFTER the wall fall, we hadn’t found out the reality….that all but one of the 130 people McCarthy investigated were innocent. The problem with your ridiculous “witch-hunt” comment (and everyone with a modicum of intelligence here will agree with me as we laugh at you) is that McCarthy was write in 129/130 cases for sure, verified by former soviet archivists for the KGB. See if the people McCarthy was “hunting” had not walked like a duck, talked like a duck and then been autopsied 50 years later and found to actually be genetic ducks, then I could agree with you. But since McCarthy was RIGHT, then I find it hard to categorize his methodic devotion to the protection of his nation, something many of us might today categorize as a patriotic act, something of a “witch-hunt.”
Oh and by the way, I believed like you that he was a very bad man…until I did my own research and my opinion was changed by relatively simple and obvious facts.
Anyway, kudos for at least in your last initial comment, you are accepting that he WAS NOT responsible for the Hollywood persecutions. Of course you then pollute your cogent thought with the factual statement that he looked for spies in the government and that somehow that did make him a pig, a drunken one at that.
To be frank, I think that his alcoholism was the main cause of his being drunken, especially after he left congress and was ruined and shunned. Think about it, a man who was vindicated nearly 50 years after his body of work, sadly died pennyless and anhebriated because the nation he loved, virtually hated him through the words of Eward R. Murrow.
McCarthy was a tragic figure in the end and yes, clearly drunk. None of that changes the fact that he was also RIGHT, something the left always has difficulty dealing with (hard facts). I don’t know that we’ll ever be able to prove that he had any genetic ties with pigs.
No amount of right-wing revisionist history can exonerate Joe McCarthy–a drunken, poisonous pig of a man.
SAMUEL said….
“Led: Hey dumba$$: McCarthy was conducting a witch-hunt on people INSIDE the government; Hollywood wasn’t his chief concern.
You read too much Stan Coulter.
McCarty was a drunken pig.”
1) Let’s see, I was the one that pointed out that McCARTHY was searching for communist agents emplyed by the US Government. Now SAMUEL agrees and for that I am a dumb—-. That’s just so logical.
2) I am not sure who Stan Coulter is, but again, when one is incapable of an intelligent discourse filled with easily verifiable facts, it’s easy to stoop to slanders and liables, JUST like ANN Coulter writes about in one of her many wonderful books. By the way, you clearly do not read ANY of her words.
3) That McCarthy ended his life in a most anhebriated stooper is terribly sad. Here was this giant figure of a man, personally vilified by the beloved Edward R. Murrow and a passionate press more concerned with perceptions than truth. But then that should not be news. I do know two things SAMUEL: (a) McCarthy was an alcoholic. However unlike alcoholics on the left who are always shown inordinant amounts of compassion and care and concern, McCarthy was unpopular so kicking him and his condition seemed so very continental of you, and (b) I am fairly certain that were his flesh examined today, one could be fairly certain that his DNA would reveal little in common with any member of the swine family, beyond much more than being a mammel. I was shocked to learn that you were unaware of this when you made your pithy comment about him being a drunken pig. I assume then that you feel only loveable leftist lushes like CASTRO are deemed worthy of your compassion.
SAMUEL – RIGHT WING REVISIONIST HISTORY?
LOL
Um, what part of well documented by the RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT, former SOVIET UNION and official archivists of the KGB do you now understand? Dude, you are afraid of the truth for some reason? WHY?
Um, what part of the congressional record do you think lies. I’m confused. First you attack McCarthy. Then you vindicate his work was against spied in the American Government and then slam his now well vindicated work as a witch-hunt.
Um, then you say I suppose if I understand you correctly, that revelations from there (Russia) and our own congressional records are somehow revisionist history as if it’s a bad thing. The last time I checked, Copernicus, Kepler and Gallaleo were ALL ABOUT REVISIONIST HISTORY at the time they said the earth was NOT the center of the universe. They were ALSO proven right! Revisionism really began when Hollywood and the Murrow inspired media labled that period of American History the McCARTHY ERA. Where was WOOD’s with the HUAAC and HOLLYWOOD at the time, certainly NOT trying to correct the record.
Fortunately meticulous records are kept in congress. Fortunately we do have records of facts that are easily found. YOU wish to believe in myths and fair tails because being the silly victim is so much better than being the master of yourself and your destiny. McCarthy wasn’t perfect and no man is. But he was right which you now call a witch hunt. Well the witches HE huted DID turn out to be Soviet Agents in the end now didn’t they?
Am I the only one that gets this. Please someone else tell SAMUEL that he’s so far out in left field absent any real scholarly work or research on the subject of that era. Sorry Hollywood, your big bad meanie was Dem Rep John Stephans Woods (1947-1953) and not SENATOR Joe McCarthy who by all historically archived accounts established by the Library of Congress, the Congressional Record and eye witnesses, never set one foot inside a HUAAC meeting or committee room. Did he likely meet with WOOD? Certainly, like any other Committee Chair. But he was not the one investigating Hollywood.
I despair because all of the credit, honor, glory and thanks for this seminal event are going to Obama instead of to the country that elected him.
On the day that Obama took office I heard Dianne Feinstein tell me that America “still has a long way to go,” I heard a preacher pray that white people would start “doing right” and a rapper singing about the lies that white people tell.
Obama is being treated like he came to power like Castro or Napoleon, but he didn’t. “Backward,” “bigoted,” “lying” White Americans elected him.
America is the greatest country in the history of the Earth, and we just proved it again. Maybe in another forty years or so liberals and the media will notice.
#1, Armed_Dad, I’m glad I’m not your neighbor–we don’t like people who puff out their chests and use “armed” as their handle.
#2: You didactic explanation to Sunny was a bit much, don’t ya think?
#3: As I’ve repeated here several times, the link I sent was just a start; request the documents from the Freedom of Information Act yourself. Reagan was known as T-10, a verified FBI informant.
Them’s the facts. Look ‘em up. The FOIA is the key to the docs.
So Reagan was tied to the FBI? BAD?
Obama is tied to Bill Ayres! GOOD?
See I am still having difficulty processing how this makes Reagan BAD?
Samuel, You are just making this stuff up as you go along…you have no idea what you are saying.
Samuel – January 24th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Sorry, Morgan. It’s a matter of public record. Take your head out of, um, wherever it is and look it up.

Morgan, it wasn’t ON THE RECORD. He did it covertly, and he did it repeatedly.
Again, look it up. Research it.
Babe, which is it, because it cannot be both. Please if you want to participate, at least make sense.
Lola: “paid by post?”
My god, you are a dolt.
Is that all you got left, Samuel, name calling? As for your responses to my comment, I give you a reference featuring an exchange in testimony between Reagan and HUAC in 1947, and you respond with a reference biased toward the left. If that’s what you’re offering as concrete evidence of Reagan’s alleged ratting, I can’t wait to see your “evidence” for Israel being responsible for 9/11.
Morgan, which part of Freedom of Information Act didn’t you understand?
Unfortunately, Morg, those docs aren’t available on the Internet; I know you righties like righy blogs and Wikipedia for your info, but you’ll have to either buy the plethora of books on the subject, or use the FOIA to get the docs.
Just ask for “FBI informant T-10.” That’ll be Ronnie RayGun (spy ring not included.)
Samuel, if the writers of these books you mention are as reliable as Anthony Summers, can you explain to me why I should bother reading these books, as they are far from accurate? As for “FBI informant T-10″, just because you think Reagan’s cooperation with the FBI means a confirmation of ratting, doesn’t mean that was the case; using the FOIA won’t prove your claims.
And you must really be far to the left if you think Wikipedia is a tool of righties like me. I find that funny.
Morgan, I don’t do other people’s homework. Research it yourself. This isn’t a UFO sighting; it’s verified–check it out yourself.
For those of you who refuse to believe it, I guess your recent claims of Obama “hero worship”, The One”, “messiah”, etc., goes both ways, huh?
Samuel, checking it out for myself isn’t going to change anything, for I suspect it will boil down to a matter of interpretative differences; something I pointed out in my last comment if I’m not mistaken.
Refusing to believe Reagan was a rat by any definition doesn’t constitute hero worship, but the way the media and some people have been lauding praises on Barack Obama sounds more like hero worship to me. But hey, it boils down to a matter of interpretative differences, wouldn’t you say?
Samuel calls “right-wing” women “unattractive.” What a laugh compared to the sows on the (REAL man)-hating Left. One day, Sam, one of those women will use the laws lop-sided in her favor to ruin your female-centric life AND make you pay for it every step of the way. You think feminists RESPECT your voluntary castration? You believe any one of them would choose YOU over any one of their sistah’s or their causes? How does it feel knowing that she can have you fired from your job, take your home and children away from you, incarcerate you at any time for any reason, no evidence or due process required? Save your lame retort about misogyny or my own personal problems, because they don’t exist.
Your eye-opening wake up call is coming and I hope it leaves you bleeding out your naive liberal ass.
Lola – You’ve contributed nothing but screeching ad hominem attacks. If this were a real-life debate I would put a sock in your mouth and tape it shut.
Please….just Shut up. You are the part of the Right that gives the rest of the right a bad name.
Yeah I’m in the despair category as well, though more and more it’s spurring me to do something about it. Maybe I’ll volunteer for the RNC (nah, they don’t do jack anyway).
I despair we have a socialist baby killer as our president. I despair people forgot to look at the content of the character and voted on a mans skin color.
I agree wholeheartedly with this article. I learned some things I didn’t know before (I don’t often think to read the newspaper) and had some suspicions validated. I’m willing to give Mr. Obama a chance (I’m part of the Electorate after all), but based on his stances and track record I don’t really trust what he’s going to do with it. And how well do we really know him? With his short political career, he might just as well be as much a Dark Horse as was James K. Polk (1845-1849).
As for the long string of comments, I think it’s a mark of Truth when people voluntarily give facts and sources. Sources say, “Hey, you don’t have to take MY word for it. I’ll even show you where I found it.” Conversely, when someone gets up in arms because they don’t have facts to back them up and end up resorting to dithering and mudslinging , that tells me what they are saying is most likely false to begin with. “I may have found it in such and such a place, but you can’t get to it without inordinate inconvenience.” And nothing says Falsehood as strongly as not being able to keep facts straight. (I learned that from “The Berenstain Bears and the Truth”, when a large bird of indeterminate coloring and motivation flies in the living room window and knocks over Mama’s favorite lamp, while Brother and Sister just happen to be innocently playing soccer in the house.)
I was laughing as I read this exchange. As a mostly-disinterested party, I can tell a lot about it just by gauging the people involved. Large chunks of this debate felt very similar to the scene from the movie “HOOK”, just before the huge food fight, when Robin Williams and Rufio get into an insult war. “If I’m a maggot-burger, why don’t you just EAT ME!!!” They summarily start throwing pudding.
And please don’t flame me for using grade-school level sources. I’m not developmentally or intellectually challenged. I’m just a college-age young adult who still believes that yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus.
I despair that a crowd of infants took it upon themselves to BOO President Bush at the Obama inauguration, and worse, to BOO Mrs. Bush – a woman who has been nothing but pure class for 8 years. America deserves better than vomitous louts like these hecklers. I don’t care if they have the right to do this – every other decent, thoughtful American out there also has the right to put them right in their place. Hopefully the only thing those losers will be shouting in 10 years is, “Do you want fries with that?”
Thanks, Charles, for posting the link regarding Geert Wilders. I signed the petition on Friday. Everybody, please sign. The Left was completely silent regarding the murder of Theo Van Gogh (a fellow lefty BTW) who made a movie exposing the horrible treatment of women in Muslim countries. Let’s prove ourselves better than them and support Geert Wilders:

It’s too bad you didn’t despair over the last 8 years and do something to try to avert the condition that America is in today. The arrogance and greed of the right should be held accountable. The republicans had the trust of the country and abused it. NO wonder the faith was lost."
Note to Jmv..Dems were in control of the House and Senate for the last 2 years of the Bush administration. Talk about arrogance and greed? Hmm, let's start with Fannie and Freddie, tie them to Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (#1 recipient of campaign finance money from Fannie and Freddie…#2 would be Obama), both who helped to block ANY Republican try of getting through legislation to rein in the debacle that is the ROOT to what has happened to our financial market. It is your dear ridiculous vacant Dems who did nothing, yet everything to help destroy our financial system. Their misguided social agenda, starting with Jimmy Carter's "Community Reinvestment Act", is what started this abject failure in socialist causes. Socialism is the cause of destruction you see around you. Not capitalism. The Trojan horse that Nancy Pelosi on the news last night quoted as "We wrote the bill, We won the election", is a monstrosity of pork and barely anything of actual immediate economy stimulus. The tax cuts are miniscule. And what about the tax cuts provided to those Americans who don't pay taxes…you know, WELFARE. So "get on the deck and do what's best for America?"..please, only if that means getting on the deck and throwing off left-wing socialists who are too ignorant to realize the destruction they have wrecked on our country.
Reasonsjester,
You very thoughtfully and articulately expressed my sentiments exactly.
Thank you!! Peace in the storm to you and yours!!

Lefties, hide the children! Lola is right again! Ooopsie-daisey!
It’s too bad you didn’t despair over the last 8 years and do something to try to avert the condition that America is in today. The arrogance and greed of the right should be held accountable. The republicans had the trust of the country and abused it. NO wonder the faith was lost.
Although I don’t blame Bush for the economic conddition of the country, I do feel that he was oblivious to the country in his distraction with Iraq. The “good” ole boys got a way with fiscal treason while the “leader” wasn’t looking. Now you think that your group is right and the people who elected Obama were wrong??? Is that not arrogrance? To feel that you and your ilk know what is best for the masses? The people have voted and their will prevailed.
Get on deck and try to do what is best for America instead of dispairing and wishing for the president to fail. These ideas will keep us divided.
Oh yes, and don’t even pretend to speak for black people here or abroad.
Once again it is arrogance to say that your perception is the way it should be.
I despair that the newly elected president’s first week in office was spent paying back Soros and his Far Left Lunatic followers for buying him the election. How else do you explain closing Gitmo without a plan on where to house the most dangerous criminals in the world? How else do you explain wanting to give terrorists who would kill any westerner as soon as look at them; rights to a trial under American jurisprudence? How else do you explain Obama basically telling a republican senator in so many words; shut up, I won, I’m President when he objected to the 2nd bailout plan as being too cost prohibitive for future generations? Wow, what maturity, Mr. President. Just about as mature as those on this site blogging that “their man won, deal with it”.
While I, too did not revel in the outcome of the election, I do not believe Dr. King’s dream was realized. In fact the exact opposite occurred. We were told that we would be considered racists if we dared vote against “The One”. Black Americans celebrated a 1/2 black man being elected president after being told they would sell-outs if they voted against him.. Isn’t he also 1/2 WHITE? I, personally, STILL long for the day a man (or woman) is judged by the content of his (her) character and NOT by the color of his (her) skin.
THE TENTH COMMANDMENT!
See that’s what’s been missing from the debate and in a way, Avi gets close to it. The reality is, the 10th commandment might very well have been the most important and therefore, the last. Quick, raise your hands if you know it?
Hmmm, nobody on the left. You, LOLA, do you know. Thought so!
It’s THOU SHALT NOT COVET!
Covet? What’s that?
Well it means, to WANT SOMETHING that belongs to someone else.
See if your neighbor has a nice snow blower and you just go over and take it from him, that’s an example of coveting that leads to steeling.
Suppose you and all your neighboring businesses are doing fine and then some bent nose guy with a gun comes into all yor businesses and says, show me the money and he takes the MAFIA’s cut. Again, that’s coveting that leads to coersion and grand theft.
Now suppose that a bunch of whiny do-nothing lazy-a$$ brats piss and moan to the bigest bully of all, the government and it comes in and does what Lucabrazzi did to the shopkeepers. Well that’s called taxation and fairness and ….. Get the point.
WHAT PARTY makes a platform and general policy of COVETING THE NEIGHBOR’S THINGS?
They don’t represent themselves by donkey’s for no reason at all folks. They are a party of coveteousness led by coveteous leaders. They call bullying and steeling from producers to give to parasites “fair and just” and what’s worse, they tell you it’s compassion. I must have missed THAT lesson in the New Testiment. The RIGHT was never about quashing alms for the truly poor. It just never saw reason to extract from neighbors their wealth and redistribute it to people who had made a conscious choice to _off in school, sit on their a$$ playing video games or listen to boom boxes while industrias people worked. My message to democrats is simple, LIFE THE 10th COMMANDMENT. But then if you did that, you wouldn’t:
9) You wouldn’t lie or cheat or bear false witness against the industrious people who PAY taxes so that you can covet them.
7) You wouldn’t commit adultery and I might add, the commandment was NOT just about marriage fidelity. Cheating your business partners, your college exams or your neighbors is as much a form of adultery as cheating on your wife. Cheating of all types is a form of coveteousness because you want the end result without the hard work and industry required to obtain it faithfully from the one’s with whom you have mad a pact, a covenent, a contract.
6) You would not kill, or more correctly translated, murder. Some people rightly or wrongly have concluded that life begins at conception and so abortion might just be murder, whereas defending the nation against those who would murder yo is not. The bible makes that pretty clear. But wether you believe abortion is murder or not, in the absons of proof either way, maybe its better to err on the side of life and let the chips fall on that side of the ledger. Otherwise, you are just a lazy whiner that wants to avoid personal responsibility and covets the freedom to AVOID it.
5)When you do not care for the aged, infirmed and elderly, (father and mother) you disgrace them. Not everyone had great parents, I get that, but when you covet adulthood without concern for the previous generation, you are coveteousness. Unfortunately, in this AGE, the reverse is ALSO true. When the AGED COVET their childrens incomes through increases in Social Security and Medicare, it is also equally disturbing and wrong headed. Honoring thy CHILDREN is equally important and when we don’t we covet ourselves and pleasures over them.
4) When we covet other people’s time on their sabbath (be it Saturday or Sunday) we dishonor, them and the peace that comes from rest one day a week. We should not covet our own comfort and convenience over others, especially on a given day of rest.
3, 2, 1) God made us in His image (MALE & FEMALE), askes us to give him creidt when we look about us, see the marvelous works of His hands and offers us hope for life beyond this one. Yea it sounds a bit hokey and where is She in all the he…but set that aside for a moment and just consider that whatever your feelings are about a Supreme being, he askes that we respect his creation. When we extract the minerals from the earth, he put them there for us, but askes that we not covet the profit therefrom. Industrious people work, explore, mine or drill and discover these things believed to improve our lives but at what cost. And do we ask the government to COVET on our behalf even more. God expects us to respect Him and the Creation. When we desire of the things he has made more than our need, we covet.
COVETING is the easy ill, the greese between the bearings of ugliness. COVETING led President Clinton to Cheat on Hillary. It led Hillary to cheat the FDIC and partners (who went to jail) over Whitewater. It leads people into doing ALL OTHER bad things and committing all types of vices.
WILEYGRL3 things REPUBLICANS are greedy, when in fact, it is HER PARTY that is the party of coveteousness and makes it a regular part of its platform. coveteousness LEADS TO GREED, AND GREED LEADS TO ACTION. When a PARTY uses its power to extract from successful neighbors their hard earned money in order to give it to people who underachieve, it’s coveteousness.
My children did NOT get straight A’s so that they could have their grades reduced to “C’s” in order for the “F” students to be given passing repoort cards. COVETING the “A” should never be confused with actually EARNING it!
My own despair is tempered, even a little, by reading this article.
Great article -
“Madelyn, the Dems have always agreed that U.S. intelligence left a lot to be desired.”
When? When they formed the Church Commission to essentially neuter our intelligence capabilities? Or when they spent the entire decade of the 90’s warning about the unambiguous danger that Saddam Hussein posed to our national security interests because of his mad pursuit of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons?
“But your staggering ignorance fails to get to the bottom line: Albright was Clinton’s secretary of state, but you didn’t see that administration cook the intelligence to start a needless war against a “potential” threat rather than a “real” one.”
No, they preferred to ignore the “real” war which was being waged against us because President Hillbilly didn’t want to risk a temporary dip in the polls. Al Qaeda was more insistent than a five year-old with a full diaper in trying to get our attention — the WTC ‘93 attack, USS Cole, Khobar Towers, US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, the foiled-by-complete-luck LAX bombing plot — but at least we didn’t start a “needless” war. After all, we had Sudanese aspirin factories to bomb, dogs to wag to distract from grand jury testimony, Blackhawk crews to condemn to death in Dog the Bounty Hunter hijinx in Africa, and still-ongoing Balkan quagmires to commit to.
Who let this monkey out of his cage? It is to laugh.
It’s still too early to assume what Barack Obama’s presidency will be like. Sure, he does have liberal stances on sensitive areas.
An important case would be the fact that he is willing to negotiate with any leader. For some people, that may be a sign of weakness. However, Obama did mention that if people bombed the place where he was raising his children, he would confront those people in force.
I think that Obama is still capable of going to war if necessary.
