On Race, ‘No He Can’t!’

Well, that was pathetic. And it wasn’t an accident. The fix was in from the beginning.
Last week’s lackluster “Beer Summit” featuring Sgt. James Crowley, professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., President Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. was orchestrated to end a national discussion on race, not begin one. That’s why there were no microphones, even though each participant showed himself to be perfectly qualified, astoundingly articulate and camera-ready for an illuminating and much-needed public debate.
The problem for the White House was the more the esteemed professor talked, the more trouble he created for his friend, the president. The clever photo-op sans audio was crafted to yank the director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research off the stage, lest anyone begin to question what is being taught at Harvard these days.
Conversely, the more Sgt. Crowley weighed in, and his brave black co-workers spoke out, the more obvious it became that a national discussion featuring this cast of characters may not end with the results the professor and the president wanted.
The status quo was at risk, and Mr. Obama used his extraordinary powers to protect it.
Any serious discussion would have put multiculturalism on trial, but the pretrial public hearings showed America opposes this false and corrosive idea, an opposition that our chattering classes can only understand as bigotry and prejudice. In the public eye, being a victim of past injustices does not win the right to propagate current and future ones, and that’s intolerable to those in charge of the race industry today, whose power relies on maintaining forever a latent rage that can be turned on and off at the will of the nation’s elites.
America is Tiger Woods country for a reason, and she elected Barack Obama to punctuate this new reality. The nation’s laws, education system and media attitudes now need to catch up, but such catching up is exactly what Mr. Obama doesn’t stand for.
My long-held fear is that Mr. Obama is hiding something about his education. During the endless 2008 campaign, Mr. Obama would not release his college grades. Given that President George W. Bush and Sens. Al Gore and John Kerry all had proved mediocre grades were no impediment to a presidential bid, Mr. Obama likely had other concerns.
While I have no desire to see Mr. Obama’s birth certificate, I do want to see his college transcripts. My suspicion, one could even call it a conspiracy theory, is that Mr. Obama committed himself to a radical curriculum, aligned himself with the far-left professoriate, and sought to keep this biographical information from his political enemies, especially then-rival Hillary Rodham Clinton, for fear that they would paint the former community organizer and follower of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright as something other than an advocate of racial reconciliation.

It's Sunday evening. I'm one of those Americans who went to church today, have guns in my house, am having barbecue for dinner, and love my wife (a German who knows all about Obama-care-type medicine in her old country). This isn't an open thread, but I wanted to just thank you, not only for that great article, but the great site.
Excellent article Mr. Breitbart. If only we truly could have that discussion without the talking heads predictably screaming racism at every turn.
Who do they think they are kidding anyway? The meeting was not broadcast for one reason and one reason alone – Gates would have made an a@@ out of himself and Obama would have had to either defend him, or alienate the far left by not defending him.
It's astounding that we can't see Obama's college records. I would bet it's for exactly the reasons stated in the article. He majored in being black. He was coddled, he was called a superstar, he was adored by the far left professors.
The only good thing about all of this is, don't you know MO is livid. This is just killing her that they have to be quiet.

It would be good to see an objective measure of a college education that would make possible a comparison of an elite university such as Harvard to more common universities such as Idaho University. Both Bush and Obama attended Harvard and neither men use the indefinite article 'an', and both men have shown themselves to be horribly ignorant of basic history. Harvard looks good on a resume if one wants to work at Goldman Sachs or its branch office, the White House, but if its graduates are barely versant in English and history how good can it be?
That's cool. I also went to church this morning, I have guns in my house, I went to a picnic and had BBQ, and I love my husband. I also talked to my mother-in-law about the horrors of Obamacare. (She said of the provisions for those aged above 65, "That's like Hitler!")

I'm on the vestry at my church. All vestry members are required to attend a "racial awareness" class at some point during their service. I have been refusing to go, explaining why I think it's bogus and saying things like ,"but we live in a post-racial era now." My new protest will be "I'll go when Professor Henry Gates and President Obama go."

As I’ve said before, the only thing about the ‘08 election that was cool is that a black man won, but why couldn’t it have been Thomas Sowell or Herman Cain, instead we get Barry the Boy Wonder. Barry had to make the Gates affair disappear quickly, the BS boomeranged and the Messiahs polls were tanking, and we can’t have that.

Well said, Mr. Breitbart. And though you want a real national discussion on race (like many of the great unwashed, myself included), it will NEVER happen. Why? Because America can't handle the truth.
Racial preferences that were supposed to be temporary must remain a permanent fixture. The Reverend Jesse Jackson, the Reverend Al Sharpton, and the Reverend Jeremiah Wright don't want debate. They want to sieze power by calling anyone that doesn't agree with them racist and bigot. They want a class of people that "can't compete" so they can retain their power over these victims.
Any American can step up with much perseverance and will power. It's never easy to break out of one's past and class to become successful. Some people have an inside line and seem to make it with ease. That should make the ones that struggle to reach their goal even more impassioned rather than victimized.
Jesse Jackson had one thing correct: When he preached "I am somebody," he was dead on the money. Now if the people to whom he was preaching would just believe him, persevere and go after their dreams like there was no tomorrow….

I don't think he's dumb, I just think he's low average intelligence with excellent political instincts and a cut throat attitude to playing dirty when his past is the issue. He has managed to hide everything except what he has chosen to tell us, and think about it, what other man has ever successfully done that? That alone is scarey,.
but because the left adores him, they continue the charade that any questions about his past are whacked out trooferism. I too think the BC is a non issue, but his school records? His writings while at Harvard?
I think that only when his pol numbers finally drop into the sewer with his incompetence that we'll see the mask slip and the real Obama will speak.
I suspect many of his supporters will be stunned by what he's hidden from them as well.

DontTreadOnMe, you wouldn't happen to be Episcopalian would you? Your "racial awareness" class sounds like classic Episcopal Church (TEC). I, too, am on the vestry for my church. We were Episcopalian. A little over a year ago, the majority of us (priest, deacons, entire choir & praise music team, i.e, the band, entire vestry, almost all of the staff and 500+ members) left TEC and became orthodox Anglican.

As a former senior English teacher, I know exactly why President Obama doesn't want his college applications made public. (I am not a "birther," although I would like for all people running for offices that require US citizenship to have to PROVE their citizenship when they file their papers to run–President Obama included. If you have to show a physician-signed birth certificate to go to school or to play Little League, you definitely should have to show it to run for the Presidency.) All senior English teachers KNOW that it is easier for a foreigner to be admitted to Tier I universities than it is for an American citizen. This was especially true when Obama was applying to colleges and elite universities wanted a diverse freshman class. Since Obama's high school grades did not warrant admission to Occidental, Harvard, or Columbia, Obama PROBABLY wrote on his application that he was Indonesian, which would give him an edge for admissions. He didn't know at the time that he would be running for the Presidency and that people would DESERVE to know about his background. So NOW–irrespective of his citizenship–it is the lie on his college applications that has to be concealed.
With the latest frank talk about race, I have hope. In some perverted spot of my mind, I thank God that Obama was elected. How else could we have this frank talk about race and racists? The old rigid definitions can never really be applied anymore.

I too would love to see the messiah's college transcripts. I tried to read MoBam's thesis but couldn't stomach getting through all of it. It was poorly written and in my humble opinion amounted to a racist rant daring not to be given due credit so she could blame it on race bias.
It appears that cracks are appearing in the messiah's veneer and the public is noticing. He is hiding a great deal more than his college grades – which undoubtedly show he miserably failed Economics 101. We have the ever-obedient press to blame for not getting to know the real messiah prior to the election.
Some day, maybe sooner than I think, the main stream media, the Democratic Party and the Obamas will be held responsible for what happens to this country in the next three years. The RINOs can also go along for the blame ride as well.
I doubt it would matter if his grades were lower than Bush's. The talking heads would just start talking about how Obama's got "street smarts" and "natural intelligence," etc., which Bush of course couldn't have had, he was too stupid for that. Not that those things aren't real or useful, but it just goes to show what lengths these people will go to to defend him.
If you blow up the .jpg of the birth certificate, the date in the bottom right hand corner says February 1964, instead of 1961, when Obama was born.
There are a ton of things to jump on Obama about in when it comes to domestic and foreign policy. The birth certificate posted today isn't one of them.
The college transcripts would be a more interesting read, and more likely to give Obama trouble with his public image if it does come out, since any political policy he backed would then be seen in light of what he studied and who he associated with at Columbia. (The birth certificate, in contrast would — if all the allegations turned out to be true — give us President Joe Biden. Or, if someone came up with a legal nullification of both the president and his running mate, President Nancy Pelosi. No thank you.)

Great article. I'm not worry about the birth certificate, since his mother was a US citizen. He could have held dual citizenships until his teens. His college transcripts, on the other hand, is the path to his mind.
Maybe so, but it clearly states it is a "COPY" of the orignal and that is the date the copy was made, not the date is was signed. Either way I have no interest in this unless it can be unequivocably proven he isn't a citizen. Then I will care.
I have it on good authority that some of the classes Obama took included: Advanced smoke blowing, Freshman Teleprompter, Over Spending 101, Arrogance and Smugness 201 and 202 and a graduate deception course. I have no doubt there were many more.

Dustrider, that's obviously the date of the certified copy. I'm not at all clear on what happened when Obama was three years old that caused someone to obtain a raised seal copy of his birth certificate and hide it away in case some day he became President of the United States, so I remain skeptical for that reason.
I've heard of that movement. My son's an ordained Baptist minister but he's a big fan of the Anglicans for what they're doing.

You're talking about the guy who claimed there was no difference between him and Bobby Rush (if you want a shudder, just look up the stats on that nimrod). He won his first state election by beating an avowed Communist in her stronghold (meaning he had to appeal to her folks….although he did the hard part by getting her disqualified through legal challenges).

The bottom line here for me is, the President of the United States is not above the law. If the law requires proof of U.S. birth then he should have to provide it. I don't really care whether or not there's a "real" Kenyan birth certificate floating around.

Except, I blame McCain for the loss. If you remember, he'd surged to dead even with Obama after the conventions and after having added Sarah Palin to the ticket, then decided he needed to fly in to D.C. to not merely vote in favor of the original spendulous bill, but to actively lobby for it. In the middle of a tight presidential race. Running as a conservative.

In the end, only 6 million votes separated the two, and how many times did you hear Conservative pundits and callers to radio shows attack McCain when he was the only possible option by then? I heard people gleefully say they'd stay home, or even vote for Obama to "save the Republican party." I heard "Conservative" talk show hosts say it would be good strategy to let Obama win, to ensure Republican victories in the future because of the catastrophe he'd bring on us. I heard blatant lies told about McCain by the people who are now decrying Obama the loudest. I don't like hearing people whine about Obama after they did everything possible to get him elected when it counted.
He might not have been the guy Conservatives wanted, but he'd look awfully good at the moment in comparison.
I thought there was something about his mother being too young at the time of his birth for citizenship to be automatically granted if he was born on foreign soil.

Well, he studied Constitutional Law and was even an instructor in it, his education was good enough to work as a community organizer. Offhand I have yet to read if he taught anything beyond an introductory class. Oh, and Constitutional Law is a good choice for those who do not want to get bogged down in the vast intricacies of "everyday" law. Sort of like going through medical school then becoming a psychologist, stick with the mushy stuff rather than clutter your mind with all those annoying "fact" things.

What do President Obama and President Clinton have in common? Both had unauthorised entry into their passport info in the state dept. President Clinton had his late 60 and yearly 70s info stolen out of his passport records during his campaign for President. President Obama had his passport info, along with Sen Clinton and Mccain stolen and found in the pocession of Lietenant Quarles Harris Jr. The only difference was that Harris was found dead two weeks later murdered by a gunshot to the head after he turned Gov witness. Don't beleive me, look it up. One year latter there still is no leads and a 25,000 award offered by the Metro police. Any journalist have the gonads to check this out? I doubt it. Part 1.

I respected and always will respect McCain for his military service and he endured more then most. I wasn't a big fan of his maverick status, which liberals gave him because he went against the GOP so often. Still and time has proven this even more correct, he still would have been a 1000 times better then Obama. I agree with you about all those outraged conservatives who said they had become so turned off by the GOP that couldn't support it anymore and let Obama win because we can undo any damage he does. I wonder how they feel about that now? Cutting off your nose to spite your face is never a good plan.

Ken – when you think about it, much of Obama's past history was sketchy at best prior to the election, but what little we did know "suggested" extreme left. People, myself included, tended to tire of Sean Hannity and the William Ayers thing, partly because Sean doesn't have "serious creds." The press showed little, if any, interest in digging up the past. That would be all well and good if it was applied equally to all candidates since the focus would be more on issues.
Obama's handlers were very adept at tacking towards the center during the campaign because he may not have won had voters bought the "hope" he would govern from the center. Much of academia and the media were willingly complicit in burying the past because it would have shown just how radical this guy really is. He has run, not walked, back to the left, and people do not like to be lied to. The fact that he is now considering middle class tax hikes may be his "read my lips" moment.
Old_Tom, We've found that we (orthodox Anglicans) have more in common theologically speaking with Baptists, Pentacostals and any other Bible-believing denomination than we do with TEC. We just look different on the surface due to those robes and our liturgical services.

The amusng thing is that if you research President Clinton's university days from Sen Fulbright to Oxford as a Rodes Scholar it sure appears that he was either a communist agent/pupet or possibly a CIA agent. His trip to Russia has to be one or the other and his antiwar work and assosiates. Need I tell you all about the alledged connections between President Bush I (ex-CIA director) and President Clinton, and supposed conections between President Bush II when he was Gov of Arkansas. Now to President Obama. His spring break in 1981 to Pakistan with two roommates is interesting. Most sources say American passport holders were not allowed to travel to Pakistan in 1981. With all the turmoil in Pakistan at that time, who would want to? Logic would dictate he went as a CIA agent or a Jihadist. I would think the CIA like perhaps President Clinton. Look, I'm not a big Obama fan and knew two years ago he'd do for the U.S. what David Dinkins did for New York City when the voters there elected him as the first African-American mayor and savior 20 years ago. But with this birth certificate, we're in Dan Rather-National Guard memo territory. Don't get suckered in, because unlike the Rather debacle, the big media folks will have no problem publicizing details about this forgery and attacking those who created it and who supported it.

my personal take is that as much as i'd like to see this get some real traction, i'm not holding my breath. you never know, maybe the messiah will do something to make his lap dogs turn on him (you know, something unforgivable, like sign a conservative piece of legislation) and the pack mentality will kick in.
Part of me says yes, let it die. And when the crowd over at breitbart.com tears into it, it can indeed seem silly.
But another part realizes the "birthers" are upholding a long-standing tradition of harping and haranguing, searching for truths that appear hidden, of which such searches do sometimes yield valuable fruit. There are things being hidden, people hide something for a reason, thus there is the appearance of vindication of the arguments for the search. Eh, they appear isolated enough they can be disowned as needed, as far as any distancing will go with the media, so ultimately they are harmless. And 1st Amendment, their own time and money, etc.
Besides, even though the odds are long, anything that will extract the leftist nuisance from the White House sooner than the next inauguration shall be welcomed. Any effort no matter how seemingly futile, short of assassination of course, that could possibly stop or at least limit the damage inflicted, should not be deterred for the sake of appearances, but rather greeted as an act of patriotism and a sign of love for our great nation.

But at his press conference, right after saying "not having been there and not seeing all the facts"–he should have said "I will not comment at this time."
