Question Democratic Authority? Not!
by Andrew BreitbartThis week’s Washington Times column:
On April 15, I joined hundreds of thousands of everyday Americans across the nation at the tax day “tea party” protests. I wasn’t told to go there by Fox News or by billionaires or millionaires. But what if I had?
The mainstream media and the Democratic Party – one and the same these days – spent much of the last week furiously attacking the grass-roots tea party protest movement as somehow illegitimate – or worse.
Days before the uniformly peaceful and patriotic gatherings took place, Homeland Security czar Janet Napolitano conveniently issued a bizarre report slandering military veterans and assorted right-leaning groups as racist, homegrown terrorism threats.
News anchors resorted to prime-time “tea-bagging” jokes in frequent attempts to mock the participants’ grievances. On Keith Olbermann’s hate crime of a show on MSNBC, Janeane Garofalo fused two memes to declare tens of thousands of Americans as “tea-bagging rednecks.”
Multimillionaire House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blamed the rich. “This initiative is funded by the high end – we call it AstroTurf, it’s not really a grass-roots movement. It’s AstroTurf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class.” (Some dare call Madame Pelosi’s AstroTurf accusations projection – just no one in the traditional media.)
CNN reporter Susan Roesgen viciously interrogated a middle-aged man for attending a Chicago tea party with his 2-year-old child.
Norm, who wouldn’t give his full name for fear of media reprisal, cited President Lincoln when asked by Ms. Roesgen to describe why he attended the event.
Ms. Roesgen then tried to rebut: “Norm … do you realize that you’re eligible for a $400 credit?” she asked. “Did you know that the state of Lincoln gets $50 billion out of the stimulus? That’s $50 billion for this state, sir.”
Where but from the Democrat Party or the Obama administration could those arguments have come from? This was not journalism, it was politicking and intimidation. CNN has yet to reprimand its journalist and has attempted to scrub the Internet of the now-infamous video.

Great article Andrew!
The MSM is showing their true colors once again, and I can't wait until the next round of Tea Parties happens!
They see a movement building and they are terrified of it!!
Palin 2012, baby! I like Bobby Jindal, but I don't want a pantywaist for Pres, and that's all I see when he speaks.
One of the main things the events of the past week, or at least the media coverage of them, has shown me is that the mainstream media isn't even pretending anymore. They may as well get some fancy seal to put alongside Ministry of Truth to use as their emblem on their mastheads, letterheads, sweatshirts and coffee mugs.
I think the main part of it is ideological in general, but another non-insignificant bit is they're trying to defend the administration since they were the largest contributing factor to getting Obama elected in the first place. These people pretty much "sold" Obama and if the administration looks bad, then they could look bad for their part in helping put him in office.

"I'm glad that the Democrat Media Complex took the tax day tea party protest personally. It should have. Its days are numbered."
As maddening as it was watching CNN Obama-apologist Susan Roesgen single-handedly finish off mainstream media credibility, there was something positive that came out of it. Namely, the thin-veil of "reporter" neutrality was finally removed for all to see. And, thanks to YouTube, it will be available from now until the end of time. The next time someone asks "what media bias?" all that will be required is a simple URL to Ms. Roesgen declaring that the Illinois Tea Party was not appropriate for family television.
Full disclosure: For about 10 years, I’ve been rated at 100% disabled from the VA, for the wounds I received during my participation in one of our counties wars, (and the fact that I survived), my tour of duty in Viet Nam. According to public records, my disability cost the tax payers about $2,700 a month for those payments. Thank you tax payers for letting me feed and house my family.
Even though I don’t “work” for a living, I’ll always work at keeping us free.
Not Over.
GREAT!! Keep up the Palin 2012 chants, Ivy. I would love to have her run again. Her participation will guarantee a second Obama term.
You don't get enough IMHO.
Oh ye of little faith. This time she won't be hamstrung by McCain's people. I can't wait!
CNN is in a death spiral. But rather than imitate a successful model, like FOX, they've all decided to be John Stewart.
Andrew, these tea parties are scaring the mad dogs liberals out there. The fact that the head yo yo of Home Security called all these middle age corpulent Americans, 'radical right wingers' is beyond laughable. These wild eyes radicals were just excessing their right to assemble peaceably. When conservatives assembly, we are polite, we clean up any litter, we don't burn small business nor do we loot, we already own our big screen TVs. We cheer the speakers on and when the event is over we all go as a group to have lunch or dinner and talk about just how wacky the leftist have become in this country. IF this behavior is radical, what is the next step, they going to call us 'domestic terrorist'? Our radicalism will come on election day when we all go in the ballot box and vote these lunatics out of office once and for all.
The order of the Day…. " when in doubt, vote them out!"
Exactly, when people who usually don't pay attention to politics except when an election is looming, and don't watch the news daily to see how it's presented tune in and go,"Woah, that is not right!" then there have to be alarm bells going off all over the mainstream media complexes. They're already seeing an expanding backlash every time they look at their ratings versus their more fair and balanced (pun intended) competition.
Amen, not even close.
Good to see you back, Jack.
I'm thinking of a sign for the next tea party in Phoenix:
NEWSFLASH:
DISSENT IS STILL PATRIOTIC,
YOU LEFTY HYPOCRITES —
NOW EVEN MORE SO
Great article Andrew.
What I couldn't figure out was who was the other guy who came up and started interrupting Norm?
Dad with his child in arm has crazy CNN attack dog unleashed on him and he gets hit broad side by an older gentleman that wants his attention as well. Norm gets huge protesting points for multi-tasking so well.
Norm single handedly just became the ultimate protester on perhaps his first time out. He's the guy who helped pull down and burn the curtain on media bias, while protesting for something else entirely.
My hats off to you Norm and thanks for showing all the children out there how responsible adults deal with venomous individuals.
I still can't think about Anderson Cooper – and now that hideous Garofalo woman – making teabagging jokes without just about laughing an entire Coca Cola through my nose. Cooper is CNN's Teabagger-in-Chief, and I'm sure Janeane is no amateur either. Leftards go further beyond parody and ridicule every day, and they do it all without any assistance from the right whatsoever. This tickles me.
As a wise man once said, Janeane Garofalo is as smart as she is hot…
I liked the columnist from BH who actually took Susan's time at an anti Bush rally – with a caricature of Bush in devil's horns and Hitler mustache – calling it a "likeness" – to the recent browbeating of Norm – couldn't be clearer or more blatant.
We've got a couple years and a mid-term election before we need to worry about the next presidential race. A lot can happen in that time. I wouldn't mind Gov. Palin running for President, but I'm wondering it wouldn't be better if she ran for Senate first. That would give her both Executive and Legislative experience to suppliment her real conservative credibility.
Gov. Jindal may seem like a pantywaist to you. I don't see it myself. I see the leader of the only growing state economy in the nation right now. He's obviouly doing something right. Both of them need lessons in public speaking. Keep an eye on both of them. Let's see what the playing field looks like in 2011.
We should all be relieved that CNN is resorting to commentary instead of reporting. They can't pretend to be objective or unbiased, and my liberal friends can longer dispute that the mainstream media is liberal– and neither can swing voters during the next election.
On the tea party coverage, Gutfeld said it best the other night on Red Eye. The media never scrutinized or questioned why bug-infested protesters filled the streets against the WTO, but when it's a conservative assembly, they convene to discredit it.
I say make this Roesgen the new CNN anchor, and give Garofolo the number 2 seat. In this 24×7 news cycle, a few weeks of that should give CNN just enough rope to hang itself.
Hi Jake, how about a sigh that says…. 'just you're average domestic terrorist peaceably assembling" or "I'm a 'radical right winger' just like Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Hamilton and Ronnie Reagan !
You have to make FUN of everything that comes out of the mouth of these leftist fascist, that is what they are. Remember that that these democratic extortionist are nothing more then barking dogs that don't bite. We must convince them that we Americans BITE! They believe they now have a free ticket to do just about anything they want. We are going to throw all these lousy 'HIRED HELP' out of a job.
WE THE PEOPLE are the owners of America. All this MONEY comes from us, the ACHIEVERS, the Obama extortion racket , extort our hard earn money on extortion day April 15 and they pocket the lion's share and give the crumbs to the moochers, the free loaders, the slackers who's only job is to vote these wannabe tyrants back into office. We need to show these bums WE pay the freight WE THE PEOPLE are the Bosses of all the Bosses… the Capo di tu ti capi Let vote them all out and start over and with new constitutionalist in congress we can repeal every bill any democrat every pass going back to 1880s and clean our government up, who by the way works for us!
Another great column by Andrew Breitbart! I have already forwarded it to friends and family. I just hope those millions of independent swing voters are watching this garbage and recognizing the hypocrisy of our media. I actually like Anderson Cooper normally, but what he did this week was absolutely unprofessional and horrible! Also, I agree with one smart guest (I cannot recall the name) on Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld last week who said that he really hopes Janeane Garolfalo turns out to be the traitor on 24!!! In fact, she (the actress and not the character) literally is the only thing wrong with a totally AWESOME 24 this season (in my humble opinion). Finally, I agree with some of the commentators here who say Governor Sarah Palin should run in 2012. At this point, I just really want her to get the Republican nomination so that we can spend an entire year pissing off and further eroding CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, New York Times, BBC, radical Islam (it would be SO COOL to have a conservative woman in the White House just to upset some of those nutjobs overseas who think women should be locked in a basement!).
The only problem I had with Norm was that his answer took to long to make his point. The length of his answer allowed the reporter to interupt him. I appreciate the fact we got the MSM to show its true face, but we need to keep our answers short and to the point. The media is confused because we talk about taxes when we are trying to communicate problems with spending. We have made the mental leap that if the government spends it needs to have money. And that it gets money through taxes. Most reporters are not so mentally agile. Short and to the point. Leave the speeches to President Teleprompter and his fellow politicians.
In case you missed the statement released by Jan Schakowsky, US Rep. from Illinois, here it is.
http://www.house.gov/apps//list/press/il09_schako...
This woman is completely unhinged (she was my representative) and is just another example of the psychotic people we have in Congress.
Oh, and her husband, a prominent political consultant, was accused of swindling nine financial institutions of at least $2.3 million while he ran a public interest group. He pleaded guilty to two felonies in 2006 and I believe was sentenced to 5 months in prison. I'm certain she never used the words "shameful" and "despicable" (like the Tea Parties) to describe her husband's actions. Just a "mistake" by a "good man."
Actually, I think the over-the-top hysterics by the left only hurt them. To their hard-core base, they're speaking to the choir. To the Independents, apoliticals, and casual observers, their hysteria is evident and only reflects poorly on them.
Every time Garofalo opens her mouth, it's great for the right.

I had to ask someone what Anderson Cooper meant by his lurid insult to all the patriotic participants in the TEA party rallies. I have since come up with a new term to describe these kind of reporters. It's not quite as vulgar as AC360s, but it can be used in a variety of ways. Use it as a noun when you call them 'douche-baggers.' When they try to foist of this kind of reporting on us as truth, we can use the verb 'douche-bagging,' Or, Susan had 'douche-bagged' this father with his child with her rant. We can also use it as an adjective, as in "I will never watch that douche-bag CNN again." This is a whole new use of an existing term. The language flows and lives!
So much of what is happening fits the definition of fascism, however can't call it fascism because that would be politically incorrect so I call it Statist tyranny instead.
I´m keeping an open mind. I like and admire Palin but we never had a chance to see how she would do with more campaign experience. I put executive experience far, far above legislative experience but I guess some time in the Senate couldn´t hurt her.
As for Jindal, I have heard interviews. The man is extremely smart and no pantywaist. He has amazing experience for his age. Good talker, too. Whether he can sell it remains to be seen. I think he is more conservative than Palin, who was distorted by the MSM into this radical, polarizing figure but her positions are actually quite mainstream (in a good way).
They are both very young and the GOP tends to nominate the next guy in line, so you can´t discount Romney. If he were president right now, it would do the country a lot of good. Wish I could say the same thing about McCain but I´m not no sure.
Funny, when you go to Schakowsky´s website and click on "About Jan" and then bio, photos or schedule, you get a "The requested page could not be found". She is not putting a lot of effort into her job, isn´t she? But I´m sure she´s qualified to run the economy … cough into the ground cough.
You know the tea parties must be working, because all of the morons on the left are tripping over themselves to insult the attendees.
As for the $400.00 rebate… I don't want your God-damned rebated. I want you to stop taxing me like a robber-baron who needs money to better arm his thugs.

Now that they're in power they aren't even trying to very hard to pretend anymore. I often wondered what 8 years of unmitigated, inhinged hatred would do to them, and now we know. It isn't very pretty. I thought maybe they'd tone it down some, but they still hate just as much as ever and their treatment of the TEA protesters (like myself) just goes to show that they're looking for new outlets.
"The only problem I had with Norm was that his answer took to long to make his point."
Agreed, but in Norm's defense I am sure he did not go out that day with a three-second sound bite ready in case the MSM singled him out for a hostile interview.
I consider CNN's attack on Norm a blessing, and therefore I am glad he didn't have a three- second quip ready. As others have noted, Roesgen in her response destroyed any remaining doubts about the pro-liberal bias in the MSM, and that is a good thing.
These people are the New Tories. They've simply taken the ancien-regime arguments for the Divine Right of Ring, secularized them, and morphed them into the (small-d) driving right of the Welfare State.
It's great the liberals are befuddled by the Tea Parties. They probably didn't expect such a turn out because they know the GOP is in a state of disrepair – or hopefully renewal pains – and thought there wouldn't be a high level of organization for the parties. Surprise!! The Dems are scared, and they should be. Look at the mess the current administration has put this country in, in just a short time.
Obama is, howver, schmoozing with the dictators and probably getting tips on how to squash the swell of uprising against him and his socialistic programs. We need to be more viligant than ever.
She has a certain appeal. But only of you like the dried-up aging rocker chick look.
I have been using the term "doucebaggery" for a while.
of course "Douche-canoe" works too
This Roesgen woman made a huge mistake. she let us look behind the curtain. He pointed out that the protest was anti-government and anti-CNN. Protesting taxes and spending is anti-CNN. How? Unless they are the official media wing of the Obamists.
It is no longer in question. CNN wants to be Obama's (all hail) Ministry of truth.
If the rest of us don't assimilate and becomg a part of their collective we will be run out (think Animal Farm)
You see just like MiniTrue, the Government Media Complex is producing progamming and magazines to keep us stupid. And stupid people are easy to control. Thinking things through requires effort. And effort is like work. And work sucks.
Beware the Borg!!
Let's see…first Breitbart wildly mischaracterizes the DHS report, then prattles that he's not pwned by Dick Armey, FOX, or Newt Gingrich. Keep telling yourself that.
And of course FOX News proved once and for all that it is neither fair nor balanced by sponsoring the FNC teabag parties(TM). But that's completely escaped all of you…or maybe you don't care as long as the bias is on your side…
Great article Andrew! The Tea Parties were amazing and truly a powerful voting block. In my mind we need to harness this energy into real action. Boycott advertisers on the MSM with a half million to a million signatures of productive, tax paying Americans saying no, to not only the press, but their sponsors, and their goods. Board rooms across America will start freaking out. If you want to get at grown ups pull the purse strings, effect the bottom line! This will usher the MSM out the door, and real changes in format.
A short list of companies on CNN: Cargill, GM, Shell, Exxon/Mobile, Tums, VW, Topsy Turvy, Vestas, Principle, Beneful. This is my wife’s approach to the problem of the MSM, never a good idea to piss the women off. The money dries up they go away!
For close to thirty years I have been acutely aware of media bias, and lately it has moved out of the closet. But now they have moved into open hostility and unabashed partisanship. It is ironic that they chose this cheap joke as a vehicle to express their contempt for people who believe taxes are too high and the government is spending too much.
Honestly I don't know how Anderson Cooper can show his face and I have lost what little respect for him I had. For a news anchor I can't see what purpose the "teabagging" joke serves, other than reveal AC as a puerile partisan .
Can a CNN anchor really be so indulgent as to harp on this fringe word/practice? What does it tell us about our culture when a historical reference is turned into a description of some obscure sex act that happens to share a few letters? "Tea Party" as in Boston Tea Party must be mutated to tea bags and then teabagging. Quite a leap. Then, anyone who gets the reference is in on the joke. Ha Ha! Do you know what teabagging is? Wasn't that funny? Clearly there is a subtext that, if you know what teabagging is, you will automatically have contempt for these mainstream type people, and CNN viewers are laughing at them because they would have no idea what "teabagging" is, so it is safe. Ha Ha! And they don't even know! So funny! And like a twelve year old, he wanted to make sure people understood that he knew the act he was referencing – wink, wink.
Ironically he interjected the joke while David Gergen was trying to make one of his oh-so-seriously nuanced points (which are usually pure BS) and David had to acknowledge Anderson's witty wordplay before completing his analysys.
The fact that this anchor didn't stop himself and think " Do I really want to make this reference to 700,000 people in their living rooms? Is the joke THAT good?"
This is another blow (no pun intended hee, hee) to CNN and the whole MSM. They will never live this down.
Any sane person can see the bias, period. If you are not able to see it, then you are ignorant or intellectually dishonest, please pick one (or both)
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. My uncle served in Viet Nam, and it took him 30 years to be able to speak of it. He is a free man now, no longer bound by the nightmares of coming back to an ungrateful country.
Since I am a taxpayer, how do I go about giving you a raise???
It's clear that the grassroots Tea Party movement completey petrifies the Left. Why else would they get so hysterical?
http://the100mostannoyingthings.blogspot.com/
I believe the distinction that should be made is that Americans- left, right and center attended Tea Parties on 15 April. Liberals and democrats in thrall to Big government engage in "Teabagging (Anderson Cooper- call your Office!).
I think an appropriate slogan would be "It's the Spending, Stupid!"
How is it that Garafalo can call hundreds of thousands of people racists on national TV and go completely unchallenged? Watch out, these people ARE exactly what they hate. Garafalo is projecting her own bigotry and anger onto others.
Dude, they pick who to interview anyway and they show whatever interview they think depicts or reinforces their existing narrative. The reporter-ette first found probably the only Obama/Hitler sign at the entire rally and interviewed that guy. So it doesn't matter. Besides the people who are left watching CNN are all drinking the kool ade anyway.
Well said, U2Dave! (Channeling "Cheers") NORM!!!!!!!!!
As of January 20th, 2009, dissent is no longer Patriotic. It is racist Republican HATE.
Taking a page from John Kerry–Big Sister now says that returning veterans aren't right wing extremists….just that they are too stupid to avoid being recruited by right wing extremists.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Sunday portrayed veterans as victims – not perpetrators – of right-wing extremism as she sought to combat the political controversy arising out of an April 14 Homeland Security memo warning that returning soldiers could be ripe for domestic terrorism participation.
“The report is not saying that veterans are extremists. Far from it,” Napolitano said on CNN’s State of the Union. “What it is saying is returning veterans are targets of right-wing extremist groups that are trying to recruit those to commit violent acts within the country. We want to do all we can to prevent that.”
exactly right- if the tea parties were as insignificant as they keep trying to insist, why are they insisting so loudly and so repeatedly?
Re: the $400 rebate, I agree- why does gov't see fit to take $2,000 of my money in order to deliver back $400?
Let's just cut the whole round trip my money takes, and I'll spend it all by myself.
Fixated on teabagging, huh Sally? Lets not talk about NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, George Soros, and on and on…, about the coronation of Barry, oh no. What’s in it for you? Why do you love your Barry, is he your blessed Messiah? When you’re teabagging do you include a Barry blow up doll? Do you have knee pads? What’s in it for you?
ah, sojourner half truth- nice work on the disjointed and moronic nonsense about Fox, the boneheaded defense of facism (so long as it's on your side, suppose it's all good, eh pinhead?), and the overall drooly nature of your spit flecked rant.
Run along now, troll.
Thanks for your service! Maybe we can get some of the scum kicked off the government teat and get you a raise.
When the left starts screaming racist, homophobe, etc. You know what you’re doing is effective. The Tea Party is in their pointy little heads, and it should be.
now, now, now, wouldn't YOU put down YOUR principles for $400? You wouldn't? You must be a conservative.
Andrew…Thank you so much for getting the name of our church CORRECT !!!!!
"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints"
There is no such entity as the "Mormon Church"….which the media continues to use.
Article was great as usual !!!!!!
I like how nancy pelosi, kennedy, reid et al try their best NOT to be lumped in with the "rich". As if THEY are one of the common people. What a joke they all are. The reason the MSM can't understand how something like the tea partys could be so well organized WITHOUT actually being LED by someone/something bigger then they is because the MSM has never tried it.
I agree with your defense. We're learning. Being honest about our mistakes helps this. We also learned a bit about what sort of stuff will attract a liberal reporter's attention. We can use this also. Plan, Protest, Assess, Repeat.
You are a hero. God bless you and your family.
Yep, that's why D.L. Hughley got cancelled.
Susan Roesgen comments to Norm (w/ his 2 year-old) were so ignorant. Norm was not there to try and get a piece of the stimulus pie. He was there to protest the existence of the pie to begin with! Liberals like Roesgen don't get that. As long as they are sticking it to the rich, and giving to the less rich, they think their cause is noble.
I love to point out that if their policies were applied worldwide, they would get hammered. Considering that the median wage earner in the U.S. is in the top 10% of the wealthiest people in the world. They don't like to be told that like fact.
I would have told Ms Roesgen: "Lady, I may be a whore, but unlike you I'm not a $400 a year whore!"
Brother, after 20 years I'm right there with you. After I leave this hospital, I will not see an increase when I take the rating. But like you, I'm thankful that the taxpayer allows me to care for myself through my pension. But it is rather amusing to me. I really don't want a raise. I really just want to be able to enjoy getting up and going to a job. Funny, huh? I would be honored to stand a barricade with you but what I desire is to work.
SUA SPONTE
It is considered a positive trait to dissent politically, but the Left hold Barry to a Higher Standard. As their Messiah, he is a religious figure and not to be questioned nor judged (nor lampooned, for that matter), and his followers quite literally lose their minds when they see any form of sacrilege aimed at Barry O and his Church of Big Government. I attended a great Tea Party in Atlanta, and I'm happy to do my part to annoy the Left.
Palin in 2012 INDEED! A citizen representing fellow citizens! Imagine that?
I accidentally caught Garofalo's harangue opposite KO the other day, and it shocked even me. And she is what many kids I know call "smart." This has gone way too far. We have hit a tipping point. It is really time to speak up. Thanks for this eloquent and powerful summation.
I LOVE Sarah Palin but IMO she wont work to run for president again. I wish Condoleeza Rice would run, imagine a woman who is Black running for president on the conservative side. What could ANYONE let alone the MSM say about THAT. She's a very intelligent, classy lady also and she doesn't get flustered very easy so I have no doubt that she could do the job.
Chris Matthews flat out said its the job of the mainstream media to "make the Obama Administration a success".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38KnzoBwZ78
I think that for many people to finally realize that we're going in the wrong direction, we have to actually reach the tipping point instead of just predict it. People don't have the foresight or the perspective to see the warning signs. For instance, when you tell them that it's dangerous to elect someone to President who lacks a resume' and befriends domestic terrorists, they think you're overreacting. It's only when that President starts trying to nationalize banks and form a civilian military corps that they start becoming sensitized.
I believe that I may reveal myself as an intolerable priss (maybe its a girl thing), but while I agree with the sentiment here, I am not ocmfortable using that word. Harpy (one of my favorites), Shrew (canabilistic rodent who eats her young), B_ _ ch.
700,000? I think you're giving Cooper too much credit.
If she was being interviewed by Bill Maher or John Stewart I could understand it, but for chrissake she was being interviewed by Tom Brokaw, and he just sat there nodding like an imbecile!
Edward R Morrow is spinning in his grave.
I would definitely vote for Condoleeza Rice! I think she'd be a BRILLIANT president. She has always struck me as a very classy, well-educated, and kind woman.
2012 is a LONG way off. If the MSM keep up their attacks on Ms. Palin, I think it will be their undoing.
That said, until we (the GOP) fix the primary system and close up the open primaries in states like New Hampshire, we're never going to get an honest to God conservative Republican candidate again.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3a/Ope...
Democrats have been monkeywrenching our primaries since the 80s.
I used to be with you. I realize the highroad is the better course. But it doesn't always work. Being polite never won a war.
On one level I agree with you, but I don't want to play that game myself "what can they say" or to show them up. It doesn't really work anyway. They are shameless and they just abandon whatever they said before , i.e. "dissent is patriotic" it is patently obvious what they are up to. As much as I like Condi she isn't a politician (partly why I like her) We don't need to go there, and we should not allow their bigotry to affect us.
we have been maintaining consitently that it isn't just the European socialist model we are following bu also the media treatment- in Europe, particularly the UK, the media caters to an ideological base. The slants and ginned up stories are everywhere, the facts distorted to either conform to, or better yet shape- an opinion.
This has been happening slowly in the US for years; the ascendancy of Fox News has exacerbated the situation for the MSM, ergo the 'Janeane Garofolization' of MSNBC….
Well those are definitely points to ponder BP..However I don't think the voters would really care all that much about those issues, not anymore anyway. Well except for the liberal base but the conservative movement would never get their vote anyway.
Sojourner hates FoOX because if there's one thing "liberals" (i.e., State-@#$%ers) can't stand, it's biased news reporting! (I don't know the emoticon for sarcasm but if you do, visualize one here.)
I hear what you're saying Franco but IMO Condi could do a much better job then the current pres in any case.
I wouldn't really want her to run in order to just "show them up" but whatever it takes.
So I guess it was their responibility to do the opposite with W, makes sense to me since that's what they did.
According to Axlerod, the tea parties are "unhealthy." I guess marches by the gay marriage advocates must be healthy, as he has not commented upon them.
I guess I am a bit confused as to the standard of protest in the USA according to the BO admin.
I forgot "stupid cow." I am not sure that just because the words are listed are more generous than she deserves, that that actually renders them polite. If she spoke to my husband like that, I might lose my temper and beat the snot out of her. Besides she is a harpy. She screeches and b_ _ ches like one.
Read that and that cueball carville said that the tea parties were HURTING the republican party. What a joke, he's one of those "strategists who believe that if you say something often enough then people will believe it.
And you obviously don't hate biased reporting if you support FOX. Or else you're intellectually dishonest.

Remember, Inane Garofalo is intelligent, while we're developmentally challenged for disagreeing with her.

The hypocrisy on view here is absolutely stunning — all the Lefty protests against Bush were presented as grass roots uprisings when, in fact, they were just the usual rent-a-mob paid for by billionaire George Soros and his Lefty buddies.
The tea parties were actual middle class, grassroots protests and they were presented as orchestrated by nefarious billionaires who none of the puppets in the media have named.
The one I attended had a cross section of Americans in representation: old, young, parents, grandparents, businessmen in ties, businesswomen in professional clothes, blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians — they had one thing in common: They pay the bills. Those receiving handouts whether they are Wall Street, Unions, Welfare recipients or the Auto Companies weren't there.
At ours, a young black Marine took to the podium and told the crowd he thought they might not know he was a White Supremist. That drew a huge laugh and applause from the crowd.
Look at it this way. What did the Bolsheviks do when threatened with counter-revolutionaries? All things are relative. Where the USSR sent in tanks, their American Counterparts send in Anderson Cooper and the rest of the Propaganda media. What they're doing is trying to silence dissent. If we allow them to do it, the tanks may be somewhere in our future. Before you say it can't happen, remember Waco. I'm betting Koresh and company didn't think it could happen either.
And while we're at it, for our black friends, be warned. After slavery and a hundred years of discrimination, you are about to be screwed again. Just when you're entering the middle and upper classes based on your education and merit, here comes Obama, Nazi Pelosi and Hairy Reid to tell you the country needs socialism! And before you sign on to their socialized medicine scheme, be aware the only way socialized medicine can work is to ration medical care. And guess who has a higher incidence of kidney disease, heart disease, Sickle cell anemia! That's right. African-Americans. It's time to wise up and stop shuffling along on the Liberal plantation. They've screwed you over enough.
Wow I hadn't seen that Mathews clip before, but it doesn't surprise me really.
I also liked how he said he doesn't "question motive" because that's not his job and you shouldn't do that, umm wasn't that what they were doing on a daily basis with Bush too? And he talks about rules for journalists with a straight face? Madness.
You're definitely on to something there. The BBC lately has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for a certain viewpoint, which is a shame because they used to be a highly regarded and respected outfit.
Open primaries definitely have to go. Letting the opposition help pick your candidate is a good way to wind up with a weak tea one. And to be magnanimous I'll even say that the same should apply to the Democratic primaries/caucuses too. Keep it simple, stay out of our business and we'll stay out of yours. That seems fair right?
I do the "NORM!!!" thing too every time they replay that clip on the air, glad I'm not the only one.
We have to break out of the next guy in line deal too though. There are a lot of really good conservatives out there that would make a good President, but if we keep relying on the whole punching the tickets and climbing the ladder thing, we're going to keep winding up with people who've had to make too many compromises along the way when their number comes up.
Uh, I read it. He did not mischaracterize it. Get back under your bridge.
More self-serving delusion, and one counter to your own interests. By pretending that the Tea Bagging protests indicate a populist fury soon to sweep the GOP back into power, you simply set yourself up for a longer stay in the political wilderness. This is just some manufactured political astro turf, signifying nothing, other than a tactical ploy by some old hands eager to get back into the game (Armey, Gingrich).
In other words, after suffering two significant electoral defeats in a row, getting even crazier, angrier, and more extreme is probably not a winning play for the movement. And whatever emotional satisfaction you derive from it is probably not worth the ultimate cost at the voting booth.
On the other hand, this serves the interests of my party well. So by all means, carry on.
the BBC has veered from liberal left to hard left just in the last few years; they caught a bad case of BDS in say, '04 or 05… but then the rest of the UK journalists piled on and they are now unrecognizable from one another. However, The Economist seems to be snapping out of it somewhat; soon they will find it is not in their best interest for the US to be Eurosocilaist in nature… without a militarily strong capitalist engine spreading it's protective cloak Europe will soon change- drastically- in ways they won't like…
CNN, MSNBC and NY Times are in a race to the bottom and should just join forces and call themselves the Ministry of Information.
I ran Heathcliff's post through Google's Liberal B.S.-to-English translator, and the translation was: "Just submit quietly, tax serfs! Your money belongs to us!" Interestingly, I've taken a random sample of "Liberal" (i.e., State-socialist) posts in the comments sections of various pro-freedom blogs, and run them through the GLBSTE, and they all come out the same. So here's a helpful hint, statists: save yourself the trouble of writing 200-500 word posts and instead simply cut and paste "Just submit quietly, tax serfs! Your money belongs to us!" into the comments box, and hit send. Don't thank me; I live to serve..
And Heathcliff, since you picked an English pseudonym (I'm assuming after the Bronte character and not the comic-strip cat), you may be something of an Anglophile. Since you're part of the New Tory coalition, wouldn't something like "Lord Percy State-fellator" be more to yor liking? Just a suggestion.
What's in it for me is a better America not controlled by the likes of you…
