Big Hollywood Crew Joins Tea Party Protest
by Andrew BreitbartI’ve just come back from the Orange County Tea Party where Big Hollywood contributors Gary Graham, Orson Bean and I addressed the crowd. It was a breathtaking experience with upwards of 2,000 people in attendance who were, much to the media’s disappointment, civil and and well behaved. This was the ultimate middle-class-Costco-shopper protest…not the work of wealthy millionaires like scaredy-cat Nancy Pelosi would like you to think. There were no scary skeleton costumes, no Subcomandante Marcos banana-republic-revolutionary vibe, just a diverse crowd of everyday Americans, Democrats and Republicans, gathered to push back an arrogant and increasingly oppressive government.
Yet CNN Correspondent Susan Roesgen (a reporter, not a commentator), came into the Chicago rally with a clear agenda to use code words to harass and harangue peaceful protestors:
What a pathetic display. Susan Roesgen is the devil and if she’s not fired for her mean-spirited display, CNN deserves to fall deeper than 4th place in the cable news rating.
The subtext of my speech–which we intend to post here once we have the video–was that the media is the problem because they ignore and marginalize these tea parties and those Americans who have made them such a success, and I can offer no better evidence than that video of Susan Roesgen, which I saw afterward.
Three short months ago “dissent is patriotic” was the rallying cry of the media and the left. Now they’re the enforcers of government mandated conformity. Pathetic.

Why is that vile little troll like woman from CNN calling a tax protest "anti government"?
If it were possible for CNN to fall into 20th place, that's too high for them. MSNBC should be down there with them. They are an embarrassment to hacks and frauds everywhere.
Because she's from CNN. The thing speaks for itself.
Yeah, if Fox is right wing then CNN is clearly the state TV news apparatus, how sad. If you work for CNN realize you are not a journalist. BTW – I went to a tea party and heard nothing from Fox before I went and the tea party I went to had nothing to do with Fox. She's clearly jealous over their better ratings.
Gee a discussion of Abraham Lincoln wanting Americans to have freedom is no longer fit for "Family TV" but Tea Bagging is… Hmmmm…. is the Manson family their target audience.
Next thing they'll tell us the emancipation proclomation was a mistake. From now on at protests whenever anyone from CNN interviews us we just recite the Emancipation PRoclamation to the reporter. Don;t say Hi, don;t give them any other sound byte. Just recite Linclon's Speeches to them. I guess it does not matter which one but the Emancipation Proclamation is a good one.
And they wonder why nobody watches their pathetic little networks any more – they insult and demean half the country, then they should expect to be turned off in droves.
This is what you get when the media goes full retard. Who needs them?
All three of my kids have gone to the Tea Parties in their areas. And my oldest daughter is a Democrat. Their spouses went as well, and my daughter in law is also a Democrat, and she's the angriest anti-taxer of the bunch. I guess protest is genetic and they got it from me. Even though I have yet to make it to one of the rallies, my kids have, and without any prompting from me. To hell with CNN.
I saw the video clip on The O'Reilly Factor. I was outraged! I could hardly believe what I saw… then I remembered CNN… Of course! It was an epiphany. "Let's try to up our ratings by acting like Bill Maher or Jon Stewart." Yeah, Americans are smarter than that. I wonder why Fox News ratings are up… They aren't willing to play off a peaceful protest as "Right-Wing Conspiracy" and "a threat for Right-Wing instigated terror." This is why newspapers, like the New York Times, are failing: they aren't willing to report the actual news. Plus they make the honest citizens reading them feel like they are nuts who are instigating riots. Who wants to read that rubbish? I say this: No taxation without PROPER representation! HEY NEWSWEEK, PUT THAT ON YOUR COVER!
I am boiling mad after watching that video. That woman is NOT a journalist, NOT a reporter, but someone who clearly had her own agenda and wanted to force it on others instead of REPORTING the news. Disgusting.
Family viewing thru the labored teabag innuendo , nudge nudge wink wink .
Thanks alot CNN for clearly marking the limits of what really is family viewing and you ain't it !!
Wow. What a reporter. Can't you just feel the neutrality vibe? Thanks, Breitbart. I love the Big Hollywood blog.
the US media is corporatized…..especially the turkey neck creeps on FAUX News masquerading as "cultural warriors"…turkey-necked Billdo Lielly paid MILLIONS IN A SEXUAL HARASSMENT SUIT to silence his victim (the transcript of his call is SO DISTURBING, describes his perverted thoughts and actions)…Dickie Morris is a bloated PERV who was fired by the Clintons after he was busted hiring hookers to SUCK ON THEIR TOES! Newtster whores around on all his wives while they are hospitalized and pays no childsupport…..the 4th estate in the US is dead and I'm stuck with Thomas Jefferson's maxim: "I would rather live in a country without government than a country without newapapers." Remember the deficits ballooned $2TRILLION under Ronnie Raygun, $1 Trillion under Bush I, $500 billion under Clinton (BUT HE GOT A BLOWJOB!, and $5.5 Trillion under dick cheney's administration…you sheeple are laughable ignoramuses.
"Amerikkans" made your bed, so sleep in it….BOW DOWN to your corporate warlords and the military-industrial complex, you sold your souls for tax cuts for the rich…you all whored your vote out to the corporate warmaking machine….fools
If had been there and saw that two bit hack from CNN carrying on like that I would have pelted her with soggy teabags live on air until she went away.
What the hell was that?!! Journalism? Not.
Nice little jokey back and forth about "teabagging" between David "I'm a goggle eyed melon head" Gergen and Anderson "No stranger to teabagging, I'm sure" Cooper. For God's sakes. Do they actually have to have meetings at CNN where they discuss where their ratings have gone? I mean really. TEABAGGING????? Oh, tee hee, tee hee hee. Real mature CNN. Why don't you try acting like a real network for a change? As for that bubble skull, Susan Roesgan, "Hey you dumb broad, you're late for your appointment to get Liberal Media Elitist tattooed on your forehead."
Funny how it was cool at CNN to be "anti-government" last year, but this year it's an inconceivable sin.
Our trolls need them.
You're kidding, right? Your post is surely a parody, right? Or are you really the guy with the grim reaper costume and the skull mask that I see at every commie protest where a Starbucks gets burned down.
I don't know how the libs even know what "teabagging" is. None of the leftist males I know have a set.
It's truly mind boggling. First we have Anderson Cooper and his family-friendly usage of "teabagging" and then a "reporter" declaring that an anti-tax demonstration is not suitable for family viewing. These people are vile. That's the only word to describe them. The only thing that keeps me from losing it is seeing the panic in their eyes as they try to diminish these protests as they're occurring less than 3 months into Obama's presidency.
I am so sick of this.
Why does the media never ask whether or not the idiots who protest the G20 or who try to shout down conservative speakers are angry leftists? Why don't they worry about potential violence in left wing protests? Why are groups like violent animal-rights idiots or environmental groups like ELF never labelled as "left wing terrorists."
WOW you are an idiot….don't hurt yourself patting yourself on the back…I don't take joy at profitting from death and destruction "Funeral Guy"…you republipunks got us in this mess…where was your voice of "dissent" during the 8 years of rampant deficiti spending, waging of an illegal war of aggression, and the raping of the US COnstitution (1400 signing statements by chimpie and dickie saying they did not have to obey laws passed by Congress compared to the 700 signed by ALL previous administrations)..your ignorant ilk disgust and repulse me you bootlicking brown shirt LOSER
What a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance. I suppose those little love fests of the anti war movement turning cars over and breaking store windows isn't anti government. For a net work representative to call out the competitor is so juvenile and amateurish is to be laughable. Whatever happened to asking a question and getting an answer? I thought that's what 'journalists' did. It used to be called freedom of the press. Today it's the 'state press' and there's nothing free about it. We are in truly perilous times. I fear for my children and my grandson.
True. Fox News was nowhere to be found at the Piscataway, NJ Tea Party. In fact, the only media there was a local radio station (not talk radio). It certainly wasn't a bunch of rich people in Mercedes' and Bentleys showing up; very regular people. I don't know where the meme that this is "astroturf" funded by rich people came from, except that it must be projection from the left (their protests are largely funded by the unions and well-funded left-wing groups).
Because they have the media on their side. We've hit the point where the hippies of the 60's have become the establishment and they pretty much control the education system and the media. I think rational-minded people brushed them off as kooks and underestimated the influence the would have on the next generation. We can't make that mistake anymore.
are you referring to fox or cnn? your argument easily goes both ways.
She''s lecturing him on the fact that IL is getting $50 billion in "stimulus". Does she think this money is just gonna fall from the sky??? I'm sure she thinks he's sooo ungrateful.
"Gee a discussion of Abraham Lincoln wanting Americans to have freedom is no longer fit for "Family TV" but Tea Bagging is… "
Exactly what I thought.
You have seen nothing yet. If you CNN think the words of Lincoln are not appropriate for family TV wait until we pull out a copy of the Constitution.
CNN of course. Fox doesn't insult their audience, any portion of it.
The last thing these media types want is middle America speaking up for itself.
agreed – i watched that segment and felt what i believe was my absolute limit with the MSM. i was completely disgusted. if she had shown that kind of blatant contempt for the unwashed, professional grievance mongers out and about during the war protests, she wouldn't have made it back to the newsvan before she was fired.
Very correct, and they immune from reality, from facts, and from logic, and they do not tolerate even a hint of honest discussion. Moreover, they are ignorant, they are shameless, they are arrogant, and they are hypocrits of the highest order. And that's about the nicest I can be about these idiots.
typical…can't win with logic or stick to the topic at hand, so you just start calling people names. stay classy, ltrain!
That is a great point. The right isn't known for protesting anything … it's just not part of its handbook. Yet in three month's time they've re-written the handbook and started showing up en masse across the country.
I'm so frustrated right now. Is she for real? The guy was providing a well-informed answer in a civil manner, and that's not "family TV"? But Anderson Cooper's "teabagging" comment is? What the hell?!

Irony, waffling and hypocrisy are taught as part of the curriculum at CNN school.
I'm honestly stunned with a lot of what I hear coming out of the mouths of these democratic idiots that appear on television these days. Their understanding of economics is so incredibly wrong that it's breathtaking in its shear stupidity. They might as well assert that elves put money into our pockets at night while we sleep. At least that could make sense.
Yet, no matter how stupid these Obamatrons are, the reporters interviewing them always seem to one-up them when it comes to ignorance. Truly stunning.
But apparently not journalism. I would fire this women before she returned to the office. Not even for political reasons, just because she clearly has no idea how to do her job.
See, the only reason you would say that is because you're an idiot. You might want to have someone look into that. There is a cure.
Speaking of full retard.
Careful now you all…if you express your First Amendment right to far to the right you are being HATEFUL !!!
The caption about the reporter being "Harassed is too funny……
As a tax payer I am feeling that I am being harassed every time I open my paycheck………….
Taxation without representation started a war once….“Taxation with representation ain't so hot either.”
Ever heard of nuticals? They sell them for dogs and leftists.
You hit the nail on the head. Our whole culture as it is is actually the failure of the 1960's draft dodging laws that allowed people to avoid service by staying in school. Now these draft dodgers are running the entire show. Do you understand what a college professor really is? (S)he's a kindergartner who never left school. Think about it. Went to school at 5 years old and never left. They have absolutely no idea of the real world. None. Just there 5 year old minds imagination of what it should be.
I live in California so I'm well acquainted with the idiots you speak of. To be honest, I'm just tired. I'm tired of seeing this crap in my face under the guise of "journalism." When did yellow journalism make a comeback? And when did the masses decided to legitimize it? I've never been an activist type, but this kind of stuff is just the motivator to make me get really loud and angry.
Beautiful apps for the iPhone (and it's free!!): Constitution, Declaration of Independence and – this is the best – USA Manual. it has the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, Federalist Papers, List of Presidents, List of States (for presidents who forget), Supreme Court Justices, Supreme Court Cases, U.S. Flag and numerous documents from the Articles of Confederation to the Patriot Act.
If you have an iPhone and want to be informed, I advise checking out these applications.
I'm thinking someone went off his meds ….
You might want to investigate the this new fangled spellchecker thing they've come out with … handy.
That woman should be fired.
Completely UNPROFESSIONAL!
I'm sick of it too. But I'm even more frustrated that Republicans just accept this as the normal state of affairs. They don't even seem to understand that they should be fighting this, much less who they should be fighting or how to fight them. If they can't do this, then they need to step aside and let someone who will fight back take over.
Very reasoned reply, LTrain. I don't mind you calling me names, but I wish you would show a little more respect to former President Bush. I believe the correct term in the lefty style book is to use his full name of Chimpie McHitler (Please capitalize in future.)
A friend of mine pointed out that the MSM created Obama and has a financial interest in the continued adulation to sell their papers and get viewers. I don't disagree but think it is greater than that. They are personally vested. Their egos are on the line and they cannot fathom why the mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging rubes aren't falling into line and accepting the proclamations of the Fourth Estate as gospel. You can practically see the spittle flying out of Susie-Q's gaping maw. Even setting aside that journalists should keep their basis out of sight, this level of invective isn't about ideological differences. She's irrelevant, she knows it and cannot tolerate it.
Absolutely correct. What do you think the chances of that happening are?
Wow! Her comments almost make her seem as if she's working for the government… or this administration. Coming after someone who protests a trillion dollars of taxes being levied upon him without his consent. In what bizarro world have we been transported to?
I am very angry myself. That was horrilbe reporting, and was completely biased! >:(
Um…..Ltrain? just how many comprise an "ilk"? Just askin'
Hi, Andrew..it's "Z"! The People's Republic of Santa Monica gathering was fairly well attended for The People's Republic, but we had to get there late, it was just breaking up and we only drove by and honked, I hate to admit. My favorite part of the CNN video is her saying "But, you get FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!" I guess the moral of that story is "Who needs CHARACTER and PRINCIPLES when you're going to be given FOUR HUNDRED BUCKS, huh?" geeeeZ

Ah … but the leftist females do (e.g. Margaret Cho, Janeane Garafalo, Sandra Bernhard)

I don't recall ever seeing any "reporter" engage in a "debate" while reporting. I'm sure it's happened but I just can't think of an incident. Truly an amazing piece of "journalism." So glad to see such objective reporting. Since I seldom watch CNN thanks Andrew for linking this.
You missed one of the k's in Amerikkka. Please write your love letters more carefully.
Donna, the left calls 'em "strap-ons". They're available in the Earl Grey, Pekoe, and Oooooooh-long models. Most of the lefty-castrati don't leave home without 'em.
Those who can, do.
Those who can't, teach.
Those who can't teach, run for Congress.
oppressive government? give me a break. Hysterical nonsense every bit as idiotic as the Bush-is-a-Nazi crowd. Enforcers of government mandated conformity? How so? Give me some examples of how the big bad Stalinist Obama regime is forcing you to conform. For 8 years you guys were all about expanding executive powers but now it is the dawning of a totalitarian America. You brought this on yourselves. Careful what you wish for.
My sister was a petulant, clique chasing little cheerleader. I'm used to the catty, sneery attitude of the subpar attempting to stand out.
Liberals are always trying to relive their glory days in High School. It suits their emotional development.
That high?
Seriously, this woman could not be more moronic. CNN has reached it's nadir and not a minute too soon.
I'm an optimist.
I'm waiting to see how they're going to work Ben-Wa balls into the intellectual discussions at CNN. And no, that isn't a Chinese STD.
For serious! Where the h*ll was the objectivity on that one! She asked the guy a question, and when he had a point to make, she cut him off and told him he was wrong! That wasn't journalism, that was a rare insight into the hatcheting process they normally call "editing". Someone please kick this lady in the groin.
We (conservatives) can no longer be surprised, shocked, or otherwise amazed at how "journalism" no longer holds to the well known practices and standards of years gone by. The large majority of the MSM is now a fully functioning arm of the extremist liberal wing of the Democratic Party. They are bought and paid for, but not with money, with the hopes of Pulitzers, and party invitations to the soirees in the salons of DC, NYC, SF, etc.
We AmeriCONS, to coin a phrase, need to jump down the throats of our RINO representatives first and foremost, from local town council right up to US Representative and Senator, and straighten their sorry asses out. Second navigate to HuffPo, Daily Kos, MoveOn, etc. sign up and firmly, with reason and erudition make our voices heard. Third, not everyone gets to be a Nielsen family, so call, e-mail or otherwise contact your local cable company and tell them to remove CNN, MSNBC et.al. from their service. They're not going to do that of course, but if enough voices rise in complaint against these networks, the cable companies will use such information about dissatisfied customers against these networks and these networks won't be able to charge as much for their broadcast rights. Hit 'em in their folking pocketbooks.
I love BH, I really do. But AmeriCONS can, should and will do a whole lot more with our keyboards, beyond these hallowed pixels. And we also need to come up with another historical precedent (for naming purposes) for more protests on July 4, 2009. Same idea as the Tea Party but taken from another event in US history. Let's put our heads together.
$5.5 trillion under Bush. Uh-huh. Where do you get your facts, the Daily Worker? But of course: "BOW DOWN to your corporate warlords and the military-industrial complex, you sold your souls for tax cuts for the rich…you all whored your vote out to the corporate warmaking machine" Wonder where that sort of deranged, spittle-flecked rhetoric comes from?
Hippie douche.
She'll probably get the next Cronkite Award.
She asks "Why are you here today sir?"
The guy starts his answer referencing Lincoln.
She cuts him off and asks "what's that got to do with taxes?" Fair question.
But then won't let the guy answer and begins to lecture him with with "Did you know…"
In that second she's crossed the line from reporter to commentator and is trying to commandeer the interview.
Look out Katie, Suzy wants your trophy.
The Homeland Security department is tracking all of our irate "chatter" right now. But it's okay, tapping and spying on domestic citizens was only something Bush did, but now that Obama's doing it, it's okay.

That is why I am now saying "No taxation without PROPER representation!" Now what is proper? That is the question, but maybe term limits is a start.
I'm disgusted by the comments, but not surprised. I strongly suspect those in the media do not view it as hypocrisy to castigate right-wingers but not left-wingers, because to their way of thinking, liberals can do no wrong, or even if they do, their hearts are in the right place. Therefore, they deserve to hold power, and hold a great deal of it, but if that power falls into the hands of conservatives, then it is repressive and tyrannical because they do not have America's best interests at heart. This would explain why the media does not at all see a double standard in excusing extremism on one side but not the other, or painting one side as extremist but not the other.
why is it every troll insists on CAPITALIZING EVERY FALSE ACCUSATION? My guess is a short attention span. The funniest part of this post is the constant harping on "perversion", and then deriding people for disliking the fact that Clinton was fond of blow-jobs from his office staffers. But they just never get it wasn't the sex, it was the lie under oath.
So, as for the rest of this anarchist twaddle, let's flag it under comedy and move on.
To quote the late Jack Buck, "I don't believe what I just saw." If there is a positive side to this, it's that at least the jig of "journalisitic objectivity" is finally up. True, it only existed in the minds of self-righteous, self-deluded media types to begin with, but here it is, raw and exposed in all itsmanipulative ugliness for all to see. A network "reporter" harassing and haranguing a private citizen. Frightening and depressing. Thank God for Fox News.
I've seen less hostility in a combat zone. "What does Lincoln have to do with taxation?" Duh! This twinkie tried to make that guy look moronic, then her other brilliant comment " but, we're getting 50 billion here in Illionois from the stimulus." To cut to the chase, how can we start to return to sanity, when were faced with the core problem – money and greed. As long as they're getting theres', screw the taxpayer.
But when John Q Public started making sense, she ran the other way, back to the other guttersnipe in the studio. Yeah, it looks like Ted Turner still has his insane influence on the hiring process. Journalism is dead.
I hope all of this wakes people up to what is really going on. So many people don't even watch the news anymore. All they care about is their own little world. They only care about watching American Idol and CSI. When you try to tell them what is going on they don't want to hear it. I just hope they all don't wake up when it is too late, when the damage to the USA is done and can never be fixed!
It makes you wonder if these people, especially the news division managers, ever actually look at what they do on camera. When they do, it's probably for nothing more than a hair/make up critique.
Didn't you know? WHEN SOMETHING IS IN CAPITALS IT IS AUTOMATICALLY TRUE! IT'S MAGIC!!!
I would have said "Grand Inquisitor" instead of commentator. So of course the man couldn't respond, since nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition (Sorry, Monty P.).
I'm skeptical about how much good the Tea Parties can do. I just watched Newt Gingrich on FOX totally drop the ball when Sean Hannity asked him the leading question, "Is this a battle between Capitalism and Socialism?" Instead Newt said it was a battle between families and power-grabbing politicians. And he's not talking about making major cuts in government spending and taxes; he's talking about rolling back tax increases. The alternative we were then offered on FOX is the so-called "Fair Tax," which they described as paying 23% of all retail spending. 23%!!! That's fair?! Hannity also made sure to point out that the protesters were not doing this for themselves, but they were doing it for their children and grandchildren. Ridiculous.
What can we do to make sure that the result of all this work is not more "business as usual"? Not more "socialism lite," Republican style? People need to wake up and realize that this is a battle between capitalism and socialism and, more fundamentally, a battle between selfishness (rational self-interest) and altruism. If people don't attack big government in a principled, fundamental way, I fear we will fail.
Sorry for my rant, but I am fed up, and I am afraid all this work will be for naught.
I guess we could also see how far you guys can get into Too Much Information territory without triggering the filters.
Fetch… "the comfy chair"!
I note with sardonic interest that CNN's site doesn't have a contact link to its ombudsmn, so that there's nowhere to complain about this "reporter's" abominable breach of journalistic ethics.
She should never work in news again. Maybe she can get work as Cooper's teabagging partner.
Could we have a little boycott here? Why is that so hard? And don't get all poncy and prickly about how unfair it all is. Make a list of CNN's and MSNBC's sponsors and let them know you ain't buyin'. With the economy the way it is, they may think twice about an ad buy with companies who's anchors are ball-polishing Democrat dicklickers.
So change blogs. If we repulse you, why do you come here? You aren't going to change our minds with your mindless, illogical, nonsensicle rants and pernicious name calling. So go away. But in the process of leaving, be blessed, be well, seek wisdom, seek Jesus. Hell is someplace you don't want to spend for an eternity. Nothing but love for you.
Is that how it works? Coooool.
"Maybe she can get work as Cooper's teabagging partner. "
Or as an Obama teleprompter programmer. Not a lot of difference.
"Maybe she can get work as Cooper's teabagging partner. "
Or as an Obama teleprompter programmer. Not a lot of difference.
We've been fighting the filter for so long over things that should never have been filtered in the first place that we can't help ourselves. We're like little kids saying "poo poo" in front of mom and dad to see if they'll tell us to stop.
Let's face it: we're dealing with children here. Whiney, spoiled, whimpy little children who are so used to having things handed to them like the car keys, or their Air Jordans, or their pink colored Razors that the thought of someone actually desiring to think, work, and save for themselves is totally alien to them. And I guess in there little bitty gimme gimme minds, the thought of self-determination could be construed as Anti-American. Children!
I think we tried that last night. But now that you mention it. What does it mean to [CENSORED BY HOMELAND SECURITY].
I'm too tired too respond in my usual calm and kool manner. (After standing for 4 hours today at the Sacratomato Tea Party.)
But, I have to ask…Che…baby…is that you?
Not Over.
Must be pretty lonely in your mom's basement. Maybe you should ask her to run out and get some more foil to wrap around your head. And I love the phrase "war of aggression". As opposed to wars of passivity? Wars of cooperation? You do realize you are a prime example of the archetypal loser in this country? A failure who has no talent and blames the "man", the "system", "corporate masters", "military-industrial complex" for his own inadequacies. A pathetic little non-entity who channels his impotent rage via leftist politics. Well, if it makes you feel better that is something I guess. The same way a screaming monkey who flings his excrement must feel a sense of purpose as well.
