I Pledge to Ridicule Celebrities Who Refuse to Recognize We Are At War With People Who Want to Kill Them, Too
by Andrew BreitbartMany of the celebrities that were central to demonizing and making life impossible for President Bush for eight loathsome years NOW want to help with the heavy lifting of bringing America back together under President Barack Obama.
Witness Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher’s cavalcade of shiny, happy situational patriots appearing in a derivative public servitude announcement: A “Presidential Pledge” to President Barack Obama.
Forgive and forget? Right.
President Bush was not holding back Moore from “free[ing] one million people from slavery in the next five years.” Nor was he holding back the Obama-biquitous Will.I.Am from “chang[ing] how [he] live[s].” Ditto: Aaron Ekhart (”To be a better person,”) Marisa Tomei (”To integrate into my heart what I already know in my head which is that we are all in this together,”) Kutcher (”To the abolition to 21st century slavery,”) Anthony Kiedis (”To be of service to Barack Obama,”) P. Diddy (” pledge to turn the lights off, cause I used to leave the lights on but we want to conserve energy so I’ma turn the lights off, you turn the lights off,) and all-in-unison (”Because together we can, together we are, and together we will be the change that we seek.”)
Missing are pledges not to kiss the ring of Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and other pledged enemies of America. Nor are there pledges not to make movies that glorify these tyrants. Nor are there pledges to take seriously that we are at war, will continue to be at war under President Obama and that our precious and under-appreciated military is fighting an avowed and evil enemy — so that, among other things, Hollywood can continue to make decadent crap that actually motivates our enemy to fight us harder!
Unfortunately, what happens in Hollywood does not stay in Hollywood.
For more mind-numbing background read Kutcher’s companion piece at the… you got it… the Huffington Post .
The conservatives, Republicans and sundry non-lefties I know in show business have had nothing to say but positive and helpful things about the coming Obama presidency.
“We wish him well.” “He is our president now and he needs our help.”
These are the types of things I keep hearing.
And this is exactly the right attitude and exactly the right message.
God bless, President Obama. Even though I didn’t vote for him, and disagree with much of his agenda, he has my best wishes and all of my best efforts.
But that doesn’t mean I will forgive and forget an era of narcissism, petty complaining and conspiracy theory peddling from the majority celebrity class that began well before Iraq. [See "Hollywood, Interrupted " -- my book co-written with Mark Ebner -- which was written before and during the build-up to the Iraq war and before the WMDs weren't found. The public behavior from Hollywood even then was almost uniformly deplorable.]
Conspiracy theories of America’s complicity in 9/11 dominated cocktail party discussions for eight tedious years. They couldn’t simply disagree with Bush. They had to ascribe evil to his motivations and make sure the whole world agreed on that flawed premise.
Yet, hating the president doesn’t mean one can’t still help out the country in a great time of need. But many went to foreign countries and demeaned it instead. Called those that disagreed with them rubes and hicks. The elitism of the celebrities against flyover country America could not have been more pronounced. They made a boat-load of movies that affirmed this narrow and patronizing world view.
And now they want us back.
We’re all Americans — NOW.
It’s a convenient lie the celebrity left peddles that they were with us during the initial Afghanistan phase of the war, and even after 9/11.
No syrupy revisionism will change this fact.
[As I was writing this piece, I received the following unsolicited email from a Big Hollywood reader: "Reminder to liberal celebrities: It's time to set your Fluctuating Patriotism Clock from "Hate America" to "Love America" on Jan. 20th. Remember, it's "Springsteen Ahead - Falwell Behind." Funny.]
Featured in Moore’s goofy, derivative and pretty-in-a-grotesque-way video is none other than Cameron Diaz who had this to say before the 2004 election:
We have a voice now, and we’re not using it, and women have so much to lose. I mean, we could lose the right to our bodies…if you think that rape should be legal , then don’t vote. But if you think that you have a right to your body, and you have a right to say what happens to you and fight off that danger of losing that, then you should vote…
Such mental insanity posing as erudition usually earns ostracism. But Diaz and her self-serious cohorts have no moral compass, no sense of proportion, no decency and, certainly, no shame.
This video illustrates that the current celebrity class are not citizens but serfs. They need a leader to put their minds in the right place to do the right thing. They are not heroic individualists seeking to extend America’s promise but conformists who chose to sit out and complain during the tough years in order to ensure their guy got in the next go-around.
The celebrity decadence during the “oppressive” Bush years was world class. The clubs raged. The boutique hotels rocked. The private jet industry at Van Nuys airport flourished. The party never stopped. And only a precious few (Thank you, dearly!!!) stepped up to support the American troops who have been valiantly fighting for Hollywood’s right to do lines off of each others’ buttocks at $10 million Hollywood Hills mansions.
They never spoke up against the movies that demonized our military.
They never made movies to counter the libel.
They took the easy route. And blamed Bush for everything.
Moore’s nauseating video — which, like Steven Soderbergh’s “Oceans” franchise, grants a pristine look into the modern celebrity’s sense of self-importance — is not a sign of desire to serve the country under Obama. Watch, by March this pledge like New Year’s resolutions will fall by the wayside. It is a sign that the Democrat is in the White House now. It is a sign that they get to sleep again in the Lincoln Bedroom.
Twenty years ago AIDS was the number one cause for the Hollywood left. Remember the trendy red ribbons at all the self-aggrandizing awards shows? Hollywood has moved on (dot org) to better blame-your-fellow-American causes. But President Bush didn’t. And aside from Bob Geldof and Bono , they ignore this president’s demonstrable goodness .
Amazing that Geldof and Bono could valiantly fight their battles and serve humanity without being paralyzed by the Leader of the Free World 2000-2008’s all-encompassing awfulness.
Remember this video: It is a instructive relic of the era of celebrity decadence and boutique anti-Republican activism under President Bush. It is a sickening display that they want fast and easy absolution for having comported themselves like ill-behaved children for eight difficult and war-torn years.
Good luck, President Obama. The rest of you can go to hell.

amen, brother.
That post was…..
A tour de force. Awesome. Right on.
It’s going on my Facebook page right this very second.
Big Hollywood: The best conservative website on the internet. Period.
[...] Update: “We’re all Americans — NOW.” [...]
AMEN!!! Thank you for putting voice to what I have felt for a very long time. I could not have said it better and I appreciate your clarity of thought. The way the left and the oxymoronic intellectual elite has bashed Pres. Bush is despicable and the lock step non-stop adulation of Obama by the media is disgusting. No way any other candidate gets a free pass on anything and everything the way he has.
Check out Celebutards by Andrea Peyser for more on the Hollywood left’s love affair with stupidity!
Celebrities heads are in the sand when it comes to terrorism. The only way they will ever change their mind is if the terrorists attacked the Kodak Theatre while the Oscars are being awarded. Then, and only then, will they ever think that terrorism is bad. Good luck keeping us safe, Mr. Obama.
Yeah…except neither Iraq nor its people were actively planning on killing Americans on our soil, we deliberately chose to invade their country.
As for me, I hope that the coming years introduce these narcissists to an eternal principal: you reap what you sow. They are asking us to not act like they have for the last eight years.
I like Obama. Dislike(ed) Bush. Love this commentary. I subscribe to the “keep it in the family” philosophy and believe it applies on a national level as well. Never talk negatively about your family to any outsiders and never when the outside could be listening. If one of us is in a fight we’re all in a fight. Who cares why your crazy brother started the fight and what the neighbors will think of you – he’s family and he comes first.
These hollywood a**holes are pathetic!!! What a nauseating video!!!
Titov, what are you doing here? Really, even Obama has said he would send in troops to rid a country of a murderous dictator. Go watch MSNBC to see what Michelle will be wearing tomorrrow.
THANK YOU! I watched this video earlier, and even though it was exactly what I expected, it still reduced me to sputtering status. The green crap!
“I pledge to stop using plastic bottles.”
“I’m gonna turn out my lights now!”
HOLY CRAP. Liberals are the most arrogant POS’s on the planet. I already do all of that, but you don’t hear me bragging about it! And I was a little sad that Aaron Eckhart was in it. I know he made that atrocity Towelhead, but still…And Dakota Fanning! WTF.
You’d think they would save everyone’s time and just shorten it to: I pledge to keep drinking Kool-Aid.
I am so sick of hearing about how AL-Queda is such a big threat to me and they want to kill me. What I am worried about are young black males who will shoot you in parking lots for the money in your pocket.
Nobody in north Texas has been killed by Al Queda in north Texas. Many have been killed by young black males lookin’ to get their murder on.
Let me know the number of Al Queda murders vs black murders in your city
That film is a great career litmus test. If you can watch it all the way through without getting physically ill, you have a promising future as a celebrity personal assistant. Or an entrail cleaner at a hog rendering plant.
[...] First there are the unsettling Obama/dictator posters. Then came the media slobbering love fest. And now we have a video of a bunch of celebrities literally making public pledges to be Barack Obama’s “servant”. [...]
Well, well…NOW they are Americans…this video is actually very funny. These self-important celebrities have exposed themselves to be bonafide IMBECILES! Such an immature display of faux patriotism. I don’t think collectively their IQ’s add up to 150! Thank GOD they can memorize other peoples scripts and speeches. They are pretty lame otherwise. Am I watching a “Sesame Street” Production, or what? I feel like I need to start sucking my thumb, again!
“I pledge, to not get more plastic surgery, and take that money and give it to a needy family WITHOUT a press conference about my good deeds. I pledge NOT to go to Spago for one month so I can give that money to my housekeepers and their family, to show REAL compassion.” For real. These people are true idiots.
So, Sheila, did your eyes glaze over and the drool start dripping from your mouth when Obama and others correctly pointed out that we abandoned our war efforts against the perpetrators of 9/11 in order to preemptively start a war with a country that hadn’t actually attacked us on 9/11?
I’m certainly not one of those 9/11 inside job nutters, or in the blood for oil crowd. HOWEVER, I think that one of the motivating factors behind our invasion of Iraq was the erroneous assumption on the part of the war planners that somehow the Iraqis wouldn’t fight back. The erroneous assumption that we would be greeted as liberators. We had no actual plan once we got to Bagdad. We utterly failed to protect ethnic minorities from religious reprisals. No one had work. No one had electricy. No one had water. Then we STUPIDLY started torturing their citizens in Abu Ghirab. Lo and behold, Al Queda fills the authority vacuum in the Sunni parts of the country, and Iran finally gains the power foothold in the country it had sought for many years.
So, seriously, what did we really get out of this adventure? IF Iraq’s government survives, what you’ll have is a Shia dominated pseudo-theocracy tacitly allied with Iran and a near permanent civil war between the warring groups (with a possible Turkish incursion against the Kurds thrown in). No way in hell will Iraq allow us to establish permanant military bases on their land as a means of a future US invasion of Iran.
Meanwhile, Bin Laden is living and in no danger of being caught. The Taliban have reseized over half of Afghanistan. Heckuva job, Bushie.
Unfortunately we have become so celebrity-obsessed as a culture that some folks look to these high school drop-outs to show them the way. I can’t wait to see what happens after the 4th straight month of “obama is our president, isn’t life WONDERFUL” media coverage, when the average Joe realizes it isn’t wonderful, it hasn’t gotten better at all.
Pity the poor folks who have to clean up Washington streets on Wednesday……
So, appealing to racial prejudice is an acceptable means of fighting a war?
Funny you should mention Chavez. I encourage people to read Mike Rivero’s blog (and listen to this show) “What Really Happened”
It is quite educational – you hear news and topics you never see on the mainstream media.
Anyway, regarding Chavez, there is a link at whatreallyhappened.com that would indicated Chavez has a pretty good reason to hate our government since they tried to overthrow him. How many of you knew about this?

“Venezuela coup linked to Bush team”
Your own government is no only the biggest threat to your liberty, but they have acted like loose cannons for decades around the world and have built up a lot of hate against Americans. Can’t say it isn’t justified. Look up “Operation Ajax” before you accept Iran hates us for no founded reason. Ask yourself why “these people” hate us. You really think they picked us out on the globe randomly and decided out of the blue to hate us????
Pledge to rein-in the rogue Federal governent. The liberty and country you save will be your own.
Beautifully written. The arrogance of these celebrities is appalling and sickening. I will not go pay money to watch these infantile condescending blockheads “act”.
If I may get philosophical for a moment … I agree with all Andrew’s sentiments above. But one thing so many people forget … especially the left … in America, no matter what we do not pledge to the President (or any human being for that matter). That is why we fought for independence. That is why dictatorships make us cringe (some of us at least). One of the defining characteristics of a dictatorship, aside from the systemic ones, is the fact that allegiance is sworn to the head of state rather than the letter of the law. This is the seed from which we sow the demise of liberty. Much as I loath comparisons of any politician to Hitler, and I am certainly not doing that, it is worth noting that the Nazis swore their oath to Hitler, not the Reich … etc. I would not swoon as such to even the most beloved politician in my mind’s eye. Our freedom depends on our keeping the president (whomever he may be) in his place, and never letting him forget what he is: Nothing greater than the servant of his people, and nothing grander than chief magistrate of the constitution.
Great article!
I’ll be bookmarking this website.
So we’ve gone from “Not My President” to “We’re All in This Together”; “risky tax cuts for the weathly” to handing them $700 Billion without strings; blaming everything on the President to believing the sun rises in His Eyes.
Excuse me if I can’t participate immediately, it’s probably the whiplash from the torque of so many morons deciding – suddenly, they were Americans all along.
I pledge to reduce the Federal Debt any way I can. How’s that?
Ah Celebrities-they are so beautiful and extremely stupid. Surrounded by YES people, they have no mind of their own and think the world evolves around them. Bunch of morons

[...] ANDREW BREITBART MAKES a pledge for the New Year. [...]
I think you’re missing the left’s point. It was not, “Hate America” for 8 years, and suddenly on January 20th, “Love America.” It is the heartfelt love of America that made the last 8 years of Bush’s betrayal of the American Ideal so hard to take.
Whether it’s foreign policy (remember when we used to defend countries abroad, instead of invading them?), or the economy (the financial meltdown kinda speaks for itself), privacy and civil rights, the environment, women’s rights, education — we are demonstrably worse off and farther from the spirit of 1776 than we were when Bush took office.
I had just about given up, myself. Maybe the Obama administration will prove itself corrupt and inefficient, like others of both Democratic and Republican stripe have in the past. But the beauty of change is that it gives us hope, hope that our beloved country can be the dream.
Obama and the Democrats now have their turn. And if a little Hollywood hoopla gets more citizen involvement, even for a while, I think that’s a good thing.
Thanks for someone calling the “limousine liberal” crowd out for what they are. Their hypocrisy and narcissism has stopped me from paying the $10 plus movie ticket prices and from watching most of the other garbage on TV that’s spewing out of Hollywood these days. If the “stars” are so guilt ridden about their undeserved riches, there are many charities that await their assistance instead of engaging in mindless & hateful protests.
Unlike, the Hollywood crowd and the liberal MSM, many of whom secretly hoped for failure of the surge in Iraq so to drive their final daggers in Bush’s heart, as a GOP’er, I wish the new administration no ill will. That would be just as unconscionable as hoping for another 9-11 in order to prove them wrong. We are Americans first, no matter our political party affiliations, and we are living in very dangerous times, period.
[...] I linked to this blog the other day so if you followed it, you’ve probably read this already. But if you haven’t, go ahead and read it now. A fine, lucid indictment of the wishy-washiness of Hollywood celebs. He’s got it exactly correct. For the past 8 years, nobody has stopped anybody from “serving their country.” In fact, many in Hollywood have been downright hateful in their criticism of the country. Remember Alec Baldwin’s promise to move out of the country when Bush was elected? A promise that sadly, wasn’t kept. But elect the lefty Democrat and all of a sudden, they’re “patriotic” again. I find it all really disgusting.Breitbart also makes the correct point that “Hollywood” flourished during the Bush years – it was good times all around (my note: until the Dems took over Congress and the economy went to crap). The best line of the op-ed comes from a reader that emailed him in the midst of his writing: “Reminder to liberal celebrities: It’s time to set your Fluctuating Patriotism Clock from “Hate America” to “Love America” on Jan. 20th.” Many of us don’t agree with Obama’s agenda nor voted for him, but I want him to succeed. I don’t want him to succeed in all he said he’d do, but I want him to be “successful” in discharging his duties of protecting our nation. Real Americans don’t base their love of country on who’s currently in power – they love their country irrespective – even when it’s not “their guy” in the White House. Those of us that didn’t vote for him are going to keep doing what we’ve always done – working to provide for ourselves and hopefully, keep the feds out of our hair. On the plus side of all of Hollywood’s idiotic, nonsensical, narcissistic, anti-American/pro-Obama blathering, I’ve managed to save a ton of entertainment dollars over the past year by not going to the movies to support them. It used to be that I would go to see a movie because of a particular actor. Now I avoid movies because of a particular actor. Permalink [...]

You can’t spell “conservative” without “CON”. Dopes.
I reaaly only need, or want, the one Pledge -
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty & justice for all.” The only video I need is Red Skelton’s commentary on this pledge. All else is revisionist pap that won’t stand the test of time.
I PLEDGE!
The question is always, “What do you want?” The answer is always, “Information . . .”
I pledge to preserve Freedom in the face of Servitude. In the immortal words of the late Prisoner Number 6: “I am not a number. I am a Free Man.”
And, of course, our resident lefties are reduced to nothing but slogans and articles from the oh-so-reliable Guardian.
Yawn.
As said above- I will treat Obama with all the respect afforded Bush over the last eight years.
I find this sentence most surprising:
“…Hollywood can continue to make decadent crap that actually motivates our enemy to fight us harder!”
If you are so incensed by actions that make your “enemy” fight you even harder, then why aren’t you incensed when the United States Air Force drops bombs on, say, a wedding party in Afghanistan killing scores of civilians. It would seem to me that actions like that would motivate people to fight even harder, more so than a movie.
Your anger is misplaced, and Hollywood liberals are an easy target.
I pledge to give Barack Hussein Obama and his supporters all the respect and dignity that was given to GW Bush. None. Nada. We pray for peace and we prepare for war. Something wickedth come our way.
I pledge to give Obama the same level of respect that the left gave Bush. Really, I guarantee it!
Right, Andrew. Blah blah blah…
For the first time in our history taxes were lowered during wartime. You don’t exactly hold the patriotic high ground. Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is?
Again, it is nothing but talk. But that is what conservatives do. And that is why conservative talk radio thrives.
Blah blah blah….
Ridicule is one of the chief weapons of…Ridicule and shameless lies are two weapons…Among the diverse weaponry bestowed by Lenin on the Modern Left are ridicule, shameless lies and exploitation of emotion. When the good guys realize that you cannot deal in good faith, that they must employ the tactics of those that want to drag them down, it will be a start.
But Demi Moore and Aston Kutcher are such easy targets. It’s not sporting. D’oh!
Andrew-you’re so right. I love the “To hell with the rest of them.” I don’t like Obama-but I love my country and hope he proves me wrong. I don’t wish his agenda for my country well, if his agenda remains what he’s already stated. The hypocrisy and utter stupidity of those people on the video would be laughable if not for the number of people that follow their lead.
You’re doing a great service for our country through this website. Keep it up and may God bless and keep you.
[...] Breitbart says it better (via Instapundit): “[T]hey want fast and easy absolution for having comported themselves like ill-behaved children for eight difficult and war-torn years.” [...]
I pledge not to act toward President Obama with the vicious hatred and name calling that these people did toward President Bush.
I pledge not to threaten to leave the country, or call Obama a Nazi or a moron or curse him.
I pledge to laugh at his folly and that of people like those in this video, to express my support to our military men and women and to make reasoned comments instead of caustic diatribes.
I pledge to take politics less seriously. It’s like teaching a pig to dance; it never produces good results and it annoys the pig.
Celebrities that are NOW ready to be proud of their country and support the president. They are the blame America first crowd and stomp on America’s flag types when Bush was here. They disgust me.
I pledge to ask my supermarket to double/triple bag my groceries, with good old PLASTIC bags. I pledge to run my dishwasher, washer, and dryer without anything in them. I pledge to take a drive for not reason whatsoever.
Pledge this.
i pledge not to stay silent and not back down when the liberal professors and whiners promote their bs and try to guilt and shame us into silence. conservatives aren’t going away, and the more they pull bs like this, the stronger and madder we get. REAGANISM!
I pledge to not make empty pledges or listen to people that do.
[...] by Lewis on 19 January 2009 Andrew Breitbart rightfully slams the Hollywood gliteratti for their eight-year case of Bush Derangement Syndrome…and then [...]
Bob Watkins,
“And if a little Hollywood hoopla gets more citizen involvement, even for a while, I think that’s a good thing.”
This sentiment is a bit shallow, considering there was NOTHING stopping these celebrities from pledging to help their country or urge “citizen involvement” with their communities in the last eight years. It’s not like George Bush made it illegal for Puff Diddle to turn the friggin’ lights out in his mansion when he walked out the front door.
And if you think pledging allegiance to a MAN (and the wider world!) instead of the country and the Constitution is in keeping with the “Spirit of 1776″, then you are clearly the victim of the kind of education Obama wants to foist on the rest of us.
Bush proved himself a terrible leader. His policies failed.
NOW, i don’t know what will happen under the Obama administration, but nobody really does.
Bush started with a stolen election and then acted as if he had a mandate from a neo conservative majority.
Obama has started with preparedness and unity.
Mock celebrities all you want, but recognize the difference between Bush and Obama!
(I guess I am apologizing for my distaste for our former government, but I feel justified, and confident that if Obama is half as bad I will also speak out against it.)
I wish some of those guys would pledge to get a shave.
i didn’t watch the vomit-fest of talentless singers performing for Obama at that concert but I did hear Tiger Woods didn’t want to touch politics and did a shout out to the military and thanked them. It’s nice to hear a few people in d.c. in the obamathon aren’t pledging their undying love to him.
Did anyone see or hear his part? It’s great he showed his patriotism and appreciation to the ones that fight for us and to his country unlike the celebutards in this video.
Well, the only “luck” I wish Brakabama, is that he doesn’t get his head blown off JFK style. Other than that, piss on him and every other Marxist ideologue.
Thank you Mr. Andrew Breitbart for saying what needed to be said concerning the disgusting behavior of the Hollywood elitists.
This ‘cultishness’ is dangerous for our republic, and for our freedom and liberty.
Ashton “Super Genius” Kutcher could have saved himself a lot of brain-strain if he’d just borrowed one of these pledges and tweaked a few words:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichswehreid
I promise not to blindly follow this new president, but to question him and hold his feet to the fire. This is the way to preserve our freedom.
God, It’s good to know I’m not the only one in the vast wasteland of the obamanation… I wish him well, but the fruitcakes are going to be intolerable for the next four years. It helps to know, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Great article.. thank you.
I also find it amusing that Bush’s house is all “greened” out and put the money in to make it energy efficient and Al gore posh mansion uses more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year.

Right on Andrew!
As an aside, liberals love to make movies where the brave and out-gunned underdogs take on the evil Nazi’s. Why? Because it’s “safe.” Hitler has been dead for almost 64 years so it’s unlikely he’s going to encourage a “cell” to form up and even the score. Liberals can “pretend” they’re tough and willing to confront evil since they know there will be no payback. (See: Gay opponents of Prop 8. Confront the Mormons, since it’s pretty certain they’re non-violent, but stay far away from all the Muslims and the black churches who voted YES – they might punch us in the nose or something).
Islamic terrorists on the other hand, are out there – RIGHT NOW! They’re quite capable of ordering a “hit” on anyone in Hollywood who might dare to be critical of their twisted and sick view of how the world should be (See: Dutch Filmmaker, Theo van Gogh).
Just watch, if we survive the current state of the world (thanks to conservatives and their willingness to acknowledge and confront this evil), in 50 years Hollywood will be telling (false) stories how it was the brave Democrats and liberals who saved the planet from this current fundamentalist menace.
It’s simply the nature of liberals to be cowardly and dishonest!

He’s just a pot smoker. Weve seen the pictures. Demi, guess what? you’re old
I pledge to Obama bash just like you did to Bush. He’s a poser. A pot smoker actually. Weve seen the pictures. He looks like pimp daddy in his hat. He’ ll fail. Watch and see. Now put down the Koolaid pitcher.
I pledge to teach these BDS suffering moonbats the true meaning of the old adage “paybacks are a bitch”.
This is what they truly fear. They can dish it out but can’t take it.
So, the Left has spent the last 7 years howling about impending totalitarianism, slandering conservatives as fascists-in-waiting and vowing to hinder their country at every turn. Questioning everything, no matter how sane or reasonable, was the in thing.
And now they pledge to “serve” the new president. Doing what you’re told is now the in thing. Don’t question authority.
Judas Priest!
“If these maniacs had their way, would not folks like Demi Moore, Roseanne, Rosie, and Oprah be fitted for a burkha?”
If there is ONE woman in the whole world that would look better in a burkha it’s Rosie O’Dumbell
I am a first time reader, but not a last time. Your post says everything I would. Bravo. I plan to join you in the mocking.
Wasn’t Bush’s approval rating like 95% just after 9/11? I’ll bet Demi Moore said something nice then, too.
I am still laughing. What a bunch of self absorbed simpletons. The rest of America, and George Bush, has been doing for years what they now “pledge” to do. While the rest of America has been doing this, the rest of America has had to listen to them complain, whine, snivel, and moan about how bad the “felt” for America. Guess what folks. Nothing has changed except an extremely unprepared and inexperienced President will be sworn in tomorrow. World events make it possible for Obama to be a great President. I hope he is. But it doesn’t look good. Leadership requires more than the ability to speak platitudes. Leadership requires the ability to act; on principle and with an understanding of, geez I hate to say it, American exceptionalism. Obama is in danger of being paralyzed from acting by political correctness. I hope he quickly becomes the bold man he’ll need be. I’m not holding my breath though.

Bush stewardship has failed America by every yard stick we own. He has not ensured the domestic well being, failed to protect the national wealth, he has not increased American influence and prestige overseas, and has had a contentious relationship with the law and the authority vested in the executive.
And you people are pissed off what a bunch of Hollywood tools are saying?
What about the GOP’s failure, no, abandonment of Reagan and Goldwater? Why are you not outraged by the huge government largess shown to failed businessmen both on wall street and in Detroit? Where is the upset over for lives and health of our fighters who are doing a hard job that gets harder when there is no clear mission and certainly shoddy justification for engagment.
Why? Because conservative America has run out of ideas. The only issues are the superficial; what drooling slobs spout off about curries much more interest than the sober business of governance.
Who is the rising star of the right? Sarah Palin will be with us for a long time not because of her aptitude or gravitas. But for just the opposite: she embodies the shallow shrill harping that is so seductive to those who want to be “right” more than they want to be accurate.
Look above at the responses to this tittering myspace blog of an article. The responses, like the essay itself, are all about hurt feeling and twits who are looking to litigate the Bush legacy through snottiness to the new administration.
Can anyone really be this fired up about what a skeeze who is most famous for pretending to be a stripper, an adolescent prankster, and a black man who has only profited from the misery of the poor black experience, have to say?
Yes—you can. If you miss the bigger picture and several of you are.
The irony of this entire “infomercial” is that it is elevating things people should already be doing to the level of something that is extraordinary. Those of us with strong principles, religious or otherwise, have been doing these things without the benefit of some phony recognition. We never needed a call to action from a president or some Hollywood celebrity. We did these things because we wanted to serve a cause because we were passionate about it. The hidden message in this entire presentation is that Americans as a nation DO NOT give of their time or money which is patently false. If you look at the time and money that Americans as private citizens donate on a yearly basis far exceeds any other nation in the world. The Hollywood premise that we are a stingy nation of selfish individuals is something that most people in the “backwater states” in the central US have rejected in both word and deed. It should come as no surprise that the Hollywood left has all of a sudden changed their tune. They as a group have been populated with pseudo-intellectual misguided hypocrites for years and to have a complete change of opinion in much the same way a windsock changes direction is not surprising. Only in Hollywood would a truly ordinary thing be elevated to the level of something that in their minds deserves sainthood.
I liked this when it was originally called the “Points of Light Foundation” by President George H.W. Bush.
“We have within our reach the promise of renewed America. We can find meaning and reward by serving some purpose higher than ourselves — a shining purpose, the illumination of a thousand points of light. It is expressed by all who know the irresistible force of a child’s hand, of a friend who stands by you and stays there — a volunteer’s generous gesture, an idea that is simply right.”
Does that video actually surprise anyone? These are the same morons that got on television following the 9/11 Tragedy and begged middle America for dollars while barely giving a dime themselves.
Well, I tell you what I pledge…”I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.”
I also pledge to continue NOT giving a single penny of my hard earned money to any of those idiots that appeared in the video (as well as Penn, Sarandon, etc.)
It was disheartening to hear Hanks utter his insanity, as I have always liked him and much of his work — “Saving Private Ryan”, “Band of Brothers” and most recently, “John Adams”. I wonder what Tom “Change” Hanks and Ron “Hopey” Howard will have to bitch about now that the “evil” Bush is out of office. Oh, I forgot, there’s always Sarah Palin to kick around.
I’ll say the same thing to these celebutards that I said to those folks pushing the “We Promise” hokum about reaching out to those who didn’t vote for Obama and working together – I’ll put every bit of effort into following your shining example that you put in over the last 8 years. Zer0 gets nothing but ridicule from me, and you hypocrites get my contempt.
Wasn’t it required by Hitler that in order to be a Nazi, one had to pledge their loyalty to HIM and not the state?
So these are voluntary Nazis?
Epic. Absolutely scathing, and these Hollywood freaks deserve nothing less.
The writing was high minded, which means those in the video (and their sycophantic gossip-mongering worshippers) will not fully understand this essay. Written by an adult, for adults.
Made my day! Keep it up, Andrew.

Well done Breitbart, what you wrote is why this is such a great country. Even though I dislike Obama as a politician and did not vote for him, tommorrow he will be my president. When he does something right we should give him the credit and when wrong hold him accountable.
As far as these morons that just realized they are proud to be Americans, they can “Pound Sand.” Hopefully, this site has a long life and you keep everything archived. Someday, this war will be seen in a different light as Vietnam was and these people need to be remembered for their stupidity. As a veteran, I will never forgive or forget those that have made this fight harder due to their hatred and lies.
btw the left hated palin bc she was what she appeared to be. she didn’t flip-flop every five minutes to appease the media, the left, or the right. she stood for morals and family and was a mother and served her state and God and had a beautiful family. For some reason the left is scared and demonizes someone who believes in God and speaks their minds. She stood for conservatism and what Reagan embodied. she made her views and stance clear and stood by them, unlike mccain and obama who said what the person they were talking to wanted to hear. obama never had a clear stance and he ran on a symbol of hope and change and he sold it. palin never apologized for what she believed in. She’s smart and was a great speaker and communicator. Nobody knew her yet she drew the largest crowds and they believed in what she said, and she fired up conservatives. feminists hated her because she was a true feminist, one that stood for and proved what a woman could do. Have a beautiful family and have a great and successful career. Feminism you see on the left in such people as rosie o’donnell has evolved into some man hating, abortion loving, sex pushing, promiscuous justifying culture. Listen to what Tammy Bruce, an ex-liberal, true feminist talks about, she describes what the feminists of the left embody. And Palin proves women can have everything they want without having to hate men and sleep with anyone and abort left and right. And they hate that, and their mission is to destroy her because she is what she sells. A great person. And they have Hillary and Pelosi. What winners.
so no matter how much you bitch and try to push conservatives down, they won’t stay down. and the left hates that.
Thomas Paine had a term – “sunshine patriot.” These people are something much worse.
Andrew summed up the last eight years well. This post and the media travesty of the last election are reminders enough. Obama gets no benefit of the doubt, neither does his treacherous party. I wish the best for my country, and specially those who serve over seas. But I wish him and his ilk no success. They showed their character when it mattered most.
…i pledge to boycott any movie, tv show, or dog fight any of you ever act in again…i pledge to give barry obama the same respect you and your ilk gave to bush for the last eight years…i pledge to teach my daughter how to spot a liberal, and then, how to run…i pledge to continue to fight you in the voting booth every single chance i get…i pledge to continue to watch you, watch everything you do and every move you make, because sincerely, you scare the hell out of me…finally, i pledge allegiance to the flag and to my country, which means, of course, i will have absolutely no allegiance to you ever…ever…ever…
MarkJ:
I checked out that website. Eery. Reminded me of the little kids in the video that was circulating during the campaign. The one that was juxtaposed next to the Hitler youth drumming their allegiance. It simply amazes me that intellegent people (not talking about the idiots) don’t see the correlation. God help us.

I didn’t realize anyone cared what celebrities thought to begin with. It was Bush’s complete disregard for the Constitution that spurned my distaste for him. Perhaps Brietbart’s time could be better spent trying to somehow defend Bush’s actual record rather than attacking a bunch of mindless celebrities. The former might actually require some thought though.

This just galls me. To think these people couldn’t get behind our president, our country, for the past eight years, but now they can flip the switch, and they can now be pro-president and pro-America – oh, and you better be, also. Dingbat says “I pledge to free a million slaves in the next four years…” What does she think Bush did? He freed people. Millions. But she and her cohorts couldn’t get behind that. But now she wants to free people. WTF??!!!??
We will not know for a few years if President Bush was the idiot portrayed in the press. Thankfully we already know that celebrities are idiots.
Right on! (My fist is raised in a Sixties’ militant salute). I agree with every word of the post. If all of this sychophantic adoration persists for the next four years, I may be longing for the days of Bush-bashing.
Conservatives/Republicans never bashed Clinton (most of the time, we only had to point out facts) nor were we ever mindless, Kool-Ade drinking followers of Bush.Even Pres.Bush’s strongest supporters were still skeptical, and critical, when needed.
For slandering our President and our military and their mission for the last eight years (and having the unmitigated gall to call it patriotic)and now (shamelessly)doing a 180 now that their guy has won, these people deserve to be mocked and reviled.
Unlike them, I wish MY new President well, but pray that my fears about him are unfounded.
After watching…well, skimming…through that video I was trying to think of the right words for my reaction. And then I remembered what my dentist told me when he stuck that thing in my mouth. He said to watch out for my gag reflex. That’s it…gag reflex. Nice post, Andrew. Love the site.

How about not making movies that encourage our kids to smoke dope, use foul language, or get pregnant before they’re married? How about pledging to make movies encouraging kids to respect their parents, get a good eduction, do their homework, and not buy into cults of personalities be they of actors, music stars or politicians?
How about it Hollywood? How about taking some responsibility for your professional work as well?

“The essence of all jokes, of all comedy, seems to be an honest or well intended halfness; a non performance of that which is pretended to be performed, at the same time that one is giving loud pledges of performance. The balking of the intellect, is comedy and it announces itself in the pleasant spasms we call laughter.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
The sad thing about this video is, it’s not intended to be comedy, yet seems to rest nicely under the umbrella of Emerson’s definition. In any case, it certainly announces itself in this instance, in “unpleasant” spasms of laughter. This video left idiot well in the rear view mirror.
Andrew, great piece. I’m sorry you had to write it.
I call these “servants”, fair-weather patriots. This adulation is troubling on so many levels. I’m extremely anxious to see what shakes out in the next six months. I wonder what the level of praise and servitude will have become.
How miffed are the celebrities going to be when they see the Iranians burning The One in effigy like they were doing last week?
I was watching the TV show when Cameron Diaz said that bit about rape becoming legal if Bush was elected. The jaw of her co-star in a Charlie’s Angels movie, Drew Barrymore, dropped like a stoned Phoenix when she heard those words.
So did the jaw of the host of the show, who did a double take.
Oprah Winfrey.
Neither woman said a damned thing as Diaz spewed her lunacy.
And who was it that Oprah came out, endorsing?
Funny how these celebrities missed one of the most important stories ever, The Emperor’s New Clothes.
Let ‘em find out the hard way – I’m certainly going to enjoy the train wreck.
I think artists and their support of political leaders kind of peaked with Wagner and Hitler. But since they are so “evolved” or at least that’s what Mary Hart tells us, I guess we should put away the books and listen to what Jessica Alba, great artist that she is, thinks of Bill O’Reilly, for God’s sake. I did watch the We Are One thing tonight and was somewhat nauseated. I wish the new President well because this is our country and he is now my President. But watching these bozos (where’ve they all been for the last 8 years??) extolling us all to “come together” did turn my stomach thanks to a hypocrisy overload. Still, it’ll be interesting to listen to what they have to say now they don’t have Bush/Cheney to carp about. And why Caroline Kennedy (I forgot to vote for several years) is so qualified after having to listen to them villify Sarah Palin. On the plus side, many may have had money with Madoff, so it could all be a pot luck dinner.
Note to ‘the entertainment industry’:
Consider if you will, your loathing for President Bush, the Republican party, Flyover Country, conservatives in general, and Christian conservatives in particular.

I pledge to stay hunkered in my cabin in the woods until the hoopla winds down a bit. I pledge to continue trying to get Ron Paul elected president. I pledge to continue to inform my neighbors of my committment to the Constitution. I pledge to never forget my fellow veterans, and I pledge to end MY days as a Citizen – not a servant! Oh, yes, I pledge to stay with “Big Hollywood.”
great article, and sadly spot-on
To doggril: The point is this – many of us don’t wish success to Obama, as we believe that his policies are bad for America. So in the end, we aren’t hoping for the country to fail, as you suggest, just Obama’s attempt to change it for the worse. And I’m guessing that you felt the same way about Bush, and you probably weren’t very shy about that either!
I pledge not to act like the Democrats, but rather to give Obama a chance to be a good president.
Democrats weren’t willing to give Bush a chance. He was demonized even before he took office. They whined because Al Gore didn’t win. Bush allowed the results to be recounted several times. He did NOT steal the election. The Supreme Court declared him the winner. So, Dems never let it go. For eight years, they’ve had sour grapes.
Now, let’s not make the same mistake. Let’s teach Democrats how to unite behind a president even when you don’t agree with him. I will disagree loudly when I disagree, but I did that with Bush. His stupid immigration idea was unacceptable, and I said so. I will give Obama the same treatment. I’ll probably disagree more, but I’ll at least give him credit when he does something good. Everyone seems to have forgotten how bad Saddam Hussein really was. If Bush lied to get rid of him, I’m glad he did. However, they HAVE found the makings of WMDs in Iraq. Of course, it will never be reported by the MSM. And I still believe there are WMDs over there.
I just wish Democrats would back Republican presidents and Republicans would back Democrat presidents. Like him or hate him, he is our president and DESERVES respect. Republicans, let’s show Obama the respect Bush never got from the Dems.
lol, how can anyone take that assclown ashton kutcher seriously?
AMEN! Great article. I live for the day when those self serving, lotus eating, navel gazing, delusional fools in Hollywood wake up to themselves. I’m going to disagree with you a bit here. We should not just issue blanket well-wishes to Obama. We should stand ready to oppose every attempt that he puts forth that will increase the power of the state at the expense of our liberty. This is not the time to be accomodating to someone who is going to further reduce our liberty.
Seditious Media-be it news or entertainment, has a lot of blood and misery on it’s hands. Even when we were at or near full employment, the media relentlessly talked down the economy. I have never commented on an artical on the interent before, but hey this is one artical worth respoding to. The fact that these traiters to their country, demectratic party and some republicans suddly find their country is suddenly worth serving because a Communist or aka Democrate is in power. Discusts me period even tho I thought Ex Pres Clinton was a worthless President I never wished him dead I never opposed the troops when he sent them into nations with no chance in hell, to stand and fight against the United States armed forces. As was stated by many who posted you swear allegiance to God And Country. Not One Man!!! during times of war or tough times you stand by and support your presedant whether you voted for him or not. When it is an illigle act being done or commited you fight with every ounce of your strength that God gives you to stop him that is your patriotic duty, whether you support him or not a crime is a crime no matter what party tag is next to their name . I am and will always be a supporter of President Bush. I disagree with the Patriat act, I disagree with him on Immigration. I venomitly dissagree’ed with the bail out package. I do not blame him for a hurricane hitting a city below sea lvl. the local population, city and state officials have none to blame but them selves for that mess. But despite what I think about Iraq ( I do think we should have went into Iraq But would rather have seen us take out Iran first ) I will always support the armed forces of the United States no matter who is president whether they be Repulican or Communist… oops sorry always get communist and Democrate parties confused, agendas so alike you know. But that is were the Hypocrisy of the great lie known as the left, liberal communist, democrate are. A war is ok in democrate circles as long as one of their own is sitting in the white house. If President Bush had been a Democrate the Democratic left would have stood by him. The Democratic party and media would not have attacked him the way that they did. But hey I am just rambling looking forward to coming back here and if anyone of the Communists… Ooops did it again sorry I ment Democrate slip of the tounge you can call it, think I am wrong then by all meens call me out and PROOVE ME WRONG

I’m with you JACK. I don’t agree with Obama’s agenda. If he is truly going to create the America of our founding fathers, then he’d have to be a bit more specific. Just which founding fathers is he referring to? It certainly cannot be Jefferson with that entitlement agenda and increased government control he’s planning. However, I respected President Bush as our President and I will do the same with Obama. I hate all this fake idiot celebrity baloney anyway – they’re nothing but a bunch of hypocrites, and dumb hypocrites. Their stage is not a political podium. But since most have no clue on what real entertainment looks like and most have very little talent…well, you get the point.
ROBERTNV – you are funny! But it’s so true!
Well said, Andrew. I can’t even stomach watching these videos, the fawning press coverage, or anything having to do with Obama at the moment. I’m still reeling from the realization that a guy who said, “This is the moment that the seas stopped rising and the earth started to heal itself,” is now our President (and not a laughingstock). I don’t care that I disagree with him about policies (I disagreed with Bush during much of his administration), I care that the media and public let him get away with such narcissism. I don’t think it’s healthy for this country, and I don’t think it bodes well for the near future.
On the bright side, perhaps some bright and promising director will take actor’s comments during the last 8 years (including these videos) and create a nifty documentary that will remind people of what’s going on. It’d be a movie worth seeing.

NO, I won’t even see Wolverine. I won’t buy any music by a big pop act, let’s face it, they’re terrible too. I have my favorites, but they’re not what you call pop.

These celebrities make me sick. The fact that they’re smiling and giggling makes me want to puke at them, by talking to us like we’re 5 years old.
They WANT ME to HELP OBAMA? After what he called me? They have the Audacity to ask me to PLEDGE TO OBAMA? After Obama himself called me, “Selfish, Bitter American”?
Barack Obama called me a “Bitter American that clings to God, Guns, and religion” first of all I haven’t been to church in years but I do own a gun. And it is my RIGHT TO! (For the time being)
Obama wants to SILENCE MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH with the “Fairness Doctrine” and tell me what not to listen to on the radio? And his HollyWEIRD people have the GALL to ask me to pledge and salute him?
Obama says that I’m “SELFISH” for wanting to keep my own damn hard earned money? That how dare I look out for myself but I have to look out for the whole community? I’ve got enough on my plate as it is.
By the way I qualify for Obama’s wealth redistribution program. I’m working 3 jobs. AND I DON’T WANT HIS HELP! I’M NOT RICH YET. I DON’T HATE THE RICH BECAUSE I WANT AND WILL GET RICH ON MY OWN! I also qualify for his socialist health care. TOO BAD I REFUSE TO CONVERT I’LL CONTINUE TO PAY MY OWN DAMN DOCTOR!
Obama wants to “PUNISH MY SUCCESS” for working hard? And he and his celebrity friends have the AUDACITY to “ASK ME FOR MY HELP?”
I AM NOT GOING TO HELP OBAMA! HE’S ON HIS OWN! ONLY WE THE PRIVATE SECTOR CAN SAVE THIS ECONOMY. NOT HIM! I HAVE NOBODY IN WASHINGTON REPRESENTING ME, CONGRESS, PRESIDENTS, BUERACRATS…THEY CAN ALL GO TO HELL! THEY ALL HATE ME AND WORK AGAINST ME. THE FACT THAT I’M PAYING CONGRESSES SALERY WITH MY TAX DOLLARS INFURATES ME!
P.S. Don’t give me this bullcrap that I’m saying this because he’s black. The very first election I ever voted in 10 years ago, I voted for an African American girl for class President, and another African American for city council. It is Obama’s radical ideals, that he has no faith in the private sector that I’ve got a problem with. I AM THE PRIVATE SECTOR. Therefore OBAMA HATES ME because I don’t have my hand out asking for the governments help.
I used to think I was a moderate, but these past 2 years have pushed me over the edge as a conservative. Republicans and conservatives should take this as a motto for the next 4 years, “I AM JOE THE PLUMBER!”
P.P.S. REPUBLICANS…GROW A PAIR OF GOLF BALLS AND OPPOSE OBAMA’S SOCIALIST PLANS OR JUST GET OUT!!!
Hey Breit, speaking of Hugo Chavez, can you please expose Danny Glover’s ties to Hugo Chavez. I searched for Glover on your site and no results. Thanks!
I pledge not to go to any more movies. I pledge to make my own movies. I pledge to make movies that don’t worship a man. I pledge to make sure that these people don’t have any more of YOUR money. Hollywood, for the most part, is what it is…an illusion. And most celebrities get so wrapped up in it that they have no substance. They suffer from the delusion that they are important and what they have to say matters. It is refreshing to see there are people in Tinsel Town that have a brain and use it. Great website!

I have been looking at this and think that there is some convergence with the cross ownership of media companies. They push the sell through and probably make sure that their celebs understand that they will toe the line as it emerges with the talking points, which are being generated by a wide array of sources from moveon.org to dnc to whatever soros says. Is there a conspiracy ? Only to sell soap ! The whole industry has become a cross-sell oppo. The biz has become a self-reflective icon: endless award shows, People like magazines, cable content, and it is all there to sell soap. The politicization happens in the salons of NY and is dictated downwards to the talent. These people, in all their vacuous airs, still understand that the job must be kept. Maybe sexual harassment laws have turned the casting couch into a podium.
Brilliant piece Mr Breitbart!
Not only do the leftists in Hollywood forget their past 8 years worth of baseless insinuations about President George W Bush, but they also forget about their willful denigration of our Armed Forces.
Plenty of people have friends and family members who (thankfully) still believe this country and its citizens are worth fighting for. And every time an out-of-touch Hollywood big mouth let slip an unkind word about the strength or worthiness of our troops, they automatically demean them and their efforts, by default. That doesn’t sit well with those who sacrifice time with their loved one, so that this nation may be free and secure.
These politically inspid Hollywood-types have no right to expect that those of us whom they tossed aside so willingly for another 15 minutes of fame and notoriety, will sudden have a “come to barack” moment, and drink the kool-aid.
No…they made their own beds.
They’ve no right to bitch about the sheets.
Waldo, the problem with equating the Iraq War with Lincoln’s Constitutional missteps is that at no time did Iraq represent an existential threat to the United States. I’m sorry, but the evidence just wasn’t there, and certainly nothing at all justified the couple trillion dollar war we CHOSE to start there instead of bringing the 9/11 planners to justice.
Maybe the better analogy is Bush and FDR, in as much that both men skillfully used racially based propoganda as a means of gaining support for their war efforts.

I voted for Bush and thought he was/is a very decent / honest person. I did not agree with everything he did (and turns out neither did he). The only thing I disagree with in this whole article is that although I do not wish the MAN any harm, I do not buy into wishing his presidency well. This comes across to me as trying to be PC. I do NOT wish his (in my single opinion) Socialist agenda well at all, and I hope that I am wrong.

When even neutral subjects such as history were being politicized on the Discovery Channel I knew that it was time to turn off the tube and stop seeing movies. I made that decision several years ago. I was visiting a friend at Easter last year and she had on Discovery and honest to goodness the show was literally a documentary explaining how Jesus was a myth or some such drivel. They run this kind of thing at Christmas too. This crazy liberal anti Christian mindset is so persuasive in the entertainment industry that I swear it will be commercials next and Sesame Street. To me this is not only disgusting but frightening. It’s like these people are “Stepford Celebrities” No one in the US entertainment industry seems capable of rational thought or even being able to look at the other side for comparison. Guess what Hollywood and New York when Al Quaeda comes to call it will be one or the other of these two cities that they will most likely hit. Maybe they’ll get it then, you know being literally knocked over the head? Until then nothing will change and we can only hope to survive the next four years (hopefully not 8). 2012, 2012, 2012!

where were these idiots’ pledges during the last 8 years?
i pledge…to point and laugh at all these self-righteous hollywood tools.
To “Shawn E” and all others who believe conservatives shouldn’t comment using hyperbole against the left and what they did to President George W Bush and our Armed Forces for the past 8 years….
This is called “Quid Pro Quo”.
For the last 8 years, the left has done nothing but make baseless and deliberately false accusations and insinuations about George W Bush and our military. GWB did his level best (much to the shagrin of many in the conservative base) to “reach across” and get along with the left, not only on the Hill, but in other ways as well.
And unless you weren’t paying attention, they were quite clear in their disgust for him, for those who voted for him, and for those in our military in whom he had great faith.
The left is controlled by the extreme wing of their party now. In case anyone missed it, extreme left is socialism and communism. Extremes on both sides, to be sure, are not good. However, it doesn’t take a major research project to reveal what was said and done for the past 8 years, by those on the left. WE remember, and pledge to never forget, their behavior.
A taste of their own “medicine” is in order.
They’ve gotten by for 8 years, with no one using THEIR tactics and THEIR logic against them. That ends today. Period.
It’s important to remember that those of us who will be engaging in this “resistance” for at least the next 4 years, don’t want things to be this way. We don’t have this deep hatred festering in the pit of our stomach for years on end, much like the left does. No, we understand that BOTH sides need to work together, or nothing of substance gets done. BOTH sides need to think of the country, its security, and its citizenry first, before anything else.
Yeah, I know, that doesn’t happen too often. But, we know it CAN, and by and large, it’s always republicans and conservatives who do the most “reaching” to the other side, in spite of being called “hate mongers” throughout history.
As of today, it’s time the left starts reaching.
The right will be busy, getting back to core political principals (which, if I had my way, would be 100% political federalism). More people identify themselves as “conservative”, yet we now have a socialist in the White House. Why? Because those who voted for him are not convinced that conservatism will work for them. The right needs to get busy producing historical data for those folks, and outline for them why political conservatism will always be better than giving up a part of their lives to government, by way of accepting welfare, health care, and other entitlements, as well as always looking to government to be their “savior”.
Remember, the minute a person accepts government “help” is the minute they hand over that little piece of their life to government control, whether they comprehend it or not. Government then becomes “care-taker”. In essence: Modern-day “slavery” to one degree or another.
Yes…the left can do the reaching….And while they do it, they can enjoy being pelted with the same BS they’ve dropped for the past 8 years.
BRILLIANT!!!
I’ll enjoy reading this again and again! I love it! Very well said!
Andrew, you are the best!
Mr. B,
Very well put. Might it be possible that the more conservative side of entertainment begins its upward surge towards providing solutions and assistance in this new Administration, as opposed to the more liberal side with their childish swipes, profanity, and vitriol displayed over the last eight years?

What you and idiots like you don’t seem to understand is that it wasn’t so much that Obammy won as McCain lost. Conservatives by the droves stayed home because they couldn’t stomach the idea of a McCain presidency. He was rightly perceived by us as “Democrat Light”. Obammy will fall by his own ineptitude the same as Carter did so I’m not that worried about 2012. If the Republicans are smart then they will put a rock solid conservative in office such as Jindal. Andrew, I don’t wish President Obama well. I wish him a short, unfruitful political career, and a long, pleasant lifetime. Almost every position he takes on policy is WRONG. I claim the liberal mantra that to be Anti-Obama is patriotic.

Wow. This is a group of ignorant, mean, sad people if ever there was one. You can have Jon Voigt, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Silver, Jon Ratzenberger, Robert Davi and Bruce Willis and I’ll keep all the attractive people with real careers. Sounds fair to me. Losers.
Also, class act on wishing ill for Obama. My side was willing to support Bush until Iraq and torture (witness 90% approval after 9-11), but you won’t even give Obama half a day.
That’s not patriotic at all.
Andrew speaks many truths about how the left supports the Afghanistan war but not the Iraq War (like they really have the troops’ victory in mind). In detail, they lie when they say they support the troops in Iraq because they don’t. The troops are winning the mission in Iraq and have kicked and smashed Al Queda there. Where is their thank you? The left never cheered for the troops to fight on! Let us all see if these anti-war teens will cheer on 20k troops that are headed to Afghanistan to kill the Taliban. Let’s see if they will keep their word or if they will cry that we should be law enforcers. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR PANSY PANTS, ” WHEN WE WERE IN IRAQ in 2003 AND Afghanistan the majority of the troops re-enlisted! And this year as well!” THIS IS PROOF THAT OUR COWBOYS IN THE MILITARY SEE THE NEED TO FIGHT! Something the college elites will never understand because they are neutered.
I agree! Lets fight blind hatred with more blind hatred!
Or for the majority of republicans here: We had to put up with it for 8 years while it hurt our country, so now it’s our turn to hurt the country for as long as this administration is in office!

You are an absolute moron, you conservative freaks had the last eight years and ran this country straight into the ground. George Bush was my president, even with the stolen election, until he wiped his ass with the U.S. consitution, tortured and kidnapped American citizens, and invaded a soveirign country with no ties to Al Queada or 9/11 that happened to be the best bulwark against Iran in the Middle East. Wow,he fought AIDS, like anyone is opposed to fighting AIDS, real courageous. The fact is George Bush and his goons not only did all that but demonized anyone who dared to oppose them as a soft on terror, osama bin laden sympathizing pussies. It’s going to take a long time to get over what conservatives have done to this country. Why wouldn’t people be excited over Obama and want to help out? What’s wrong with that? geez this stupid psa get’s me going.
I pledge to file for divorce from the GOP unless and until they finally learn that the Democrats are NOT their “friends” or colleagues, but are rather their avowed enemies. It seems that Democrats KNOW this and Republicans never seem to learn it…no matter HOW many times Republicans hold out their hands in cooperation or comity, they wind up drawing back a bloody stump. To ANY Democrat, the term “bi-partisanship” means, “Do it OUR way, or take a hike!” That was the attitude they displayed even when they were in the minority in Congress and Republicans never seemed to “get it.”
“Pathetic Losers” – What an apt name you’ve chosen for yourself. I might tend to partically agree with your idiotic screed above IF we’d even HAD a conservative President or Congress in the last 8 years…we haven’t. We’ve had posiers, of course…those who SAID they were conservatives and campaigned as such, but we’ve not had either a President or a Congress who GOVERNED as conservatives–not for one second, except on the issue of killing those who are hell-bent on killing US. As someone who studied the Middle East for 47 straight weeks, 8 hours a day, 5 1/2 days per week, I can assure you that the FIRST people jailed, stoned or even beheaded should Sharia law be instituted here, would be the same, bug-witted fools who live and breathe Hollyweird. The viciously hypocritical, morally-degenerate idiots who populate the political left here.
You’d think they’d be opposed to Islamic fundamentalists with all their fiber, but they’re too stupid to understand the consequences of their tacit support of these fanatics. But then, liberals aren’t known for their perspecacity or ability to think logically.
Some of you need to rewatch Obama’s speech from this morning…
“The time has come,” he said pointedly, “to set aside childish things.”
I went through 8 years of a lack of leadership, appointees to positions that were unqualified, an administration of secrecy, and unfettered corruption, and you are trying to tell me that the ridicule this President received was not justified??? Wow! Even some dyed-in-the-wool Republicans are happy this administration is leaving for Texas and Wyoming.
These aren’t childish things, these are things that have adversely affected our country. I am not a “Hollywood Liberal,” and most of my liberal friends think I am too Republican in some of my beliefs, but to not see these last 8-years for what they really were is putting your head in the sand.
To look at the other-side meaning Republicans or Democrats as their “sworn enemies” is as childish as taking your ball and going home. Both sides need to put aside this petty squabbling based on party stances, and more about how to make something work for both sides. The founding fathers built this country on compromise, and we need to go back to these ideals.
Everyone repeat after me…

How about “… with Privilege and Power for them”. Come on everyone, it’s a group project.
Hey, Andy, can you let those on the other side know when George W. Bush will stop being America? I understand you don’t like people trying to better themselves based on inspiration from politicians, but you lose me when you equate hating Bush and hating America. I thought Bush was terrible for America, so I loathed him. But, I never loathed the country, in fact I hated him for the damage he did to the country. When are you guys gonna officially declare he’s not America any more and, as a follow-up, will that be when Sarah Palin announces her candidacy? Will she then become America. You 22%er’s can keep us updated, okay, ’cause we’re gonna be slightly busy cleaning up your mess.
[...] the other hand, Andrew Breitbart has a piece on the most recent nauseating bit of self aggrandizement yet from the Hollywood Elites. These people, these self righteous turds who tore down our president [...]
Why not a pledge to not attend carbon emitting Hollywood parties and movie premieres? Why not a pledge to live in a smaller more energy efficient home rather than a large mansion? Why not a pledge to stop buying high fashion clothes that produce more waste in their manufacture and transport than the average clothing at a Walmart? Why not pledge to attend USO events during the height of the Iraq War when brave American soldiers were losing their lives on a daily basis? Why not pledge your time and money to the families of those brave soldiers who lost their lives while protecting your ability to live a superficial life devoid of meaning? Why not pledge your time and money to help those soldiers who have returned with injuries, both physical and mental? Are they not worthy of your time and money? You can make money off of movies that portray their bravery and sacrifice, but you cannot pledge yourself to them? You make movies that undermine their spirits and question their mission, but you cannot pledge to support their sacrifice and bravery?
Flowery little statements that match the depth found in a typical music video is all celebrities like those are good for these days. They are shadows of great men like Bob Hope.
The reality is that there are bad people in this world and we should be pledging ourselves to those that protect us from them. But, that would require a recognition of what the world is really like. It’s no wonder that so many in Hollywood are uncomfortable with reality, because in its light it becomes clear just how meaningless and pathetic their words are when contrasted to the actions of brave soldiers. I’ll choose to pledge my support for those who wear bronze stars on their chests rather than those who long to have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
I really enjoyed Ashton stating that when he considered joining the military it was just “drop and give me 20″. Its quite clear Kutcher didn’t really consider joining as any veteran will tell you it has never, ever, ever been about that. That was an insult to all who have served this great nation in uniform.
Mr. Breitbart,
Let me get this straight…several prominent celebrities who, whether you admit it or not, have great influence on people in this country, especially America’s youth, have pledged to do what they can to help our country recover, complete with a website (that has millions of hits already) that offers links to various charities and community organizations, attempting to push people to volunteer/donate money…
…and you’re RIDICULING this?
How about make up for the time you wasted writing this blog entry and volunteer some time or money to a charity of your choosing? Like them or not, they are trying to bring GOOD to this country…you are simply bashing these celebrities for having an opinion and taking a stand on something they believe in.
For that, I ridicule YOU, for bashing those trying to bring positive attention to these charities in need…and I ask you this…
What are YOU doing for your country?
(Note: Writing sarcastic, arrogant blogs does not count)
Where has Andrew Breitbart been? Why is it only recently I have heard of this guy? This blog article is beyond awesome – “It’s time to set your Fluctuating Patriotism Clock from “Hate America” to “Love America” on Jan. 20th” – perfectly crystalizes the hollywood crowd
These people are truly self righteous hypocrites, are they are despicable
Waaaa, waaaa, waaaaaa.
Just shut your pieholes already, wingnuts. You have been consigned to the dustbins of history, where you rightfully belong. But please, dont stop whining and bitching on account of me.
Ashton: You are a dork. Drop and give me ‘5′… If you can.
These people don’t seem to understand that they are a commodity – like a can of beans. We can buy their brand or somebody else’s – or just swear off beans and eliminate that pasky gas issue.
I pledge to treat Obama and the Democrats the same way they treated Bush the last 8 years.
I pledge to hold them to every lie, to demand their impeachment for every mistake, and to expose their lies to everyone in the media.
I pledge to be the same person the liberals were to Conservatives: accusative, arrogant, and obnoxious, to slander every action, to misrepresent every word, and to discourage everyone from ever listening to liberals ever again.
I pledge…
I find it interesting that nowhere in this opinion do you mention how Republicans questioned the Democrats’ patriotism when we disagreed with Bush. The bitter partisanship that occurred during the Bush years lay squarely at the feet of Bush and Cheney, and by extension, Republicans, who decided to rule rather than govern. It is Republicans who turn dirty when someone disagrees with them. It is Republicans who are the hypocrites.
This is so sad. It’s such a shame that you’ve lost your grasp of reality. But keep spreading the anger and the hate, its working for you. Really it is, ask Sarah and John
[...] Andrew Breitbart explains that cult video better than I could, and knows the mentalities of those petty creeps better [...]
All these celebrities who masturbate to Obama’s every word just give me more reason to sit home and watch whatever is on basic cable. I did not agree with everything President Bush did and said, but he was our president and acted as best he could to do right by our country. Moreover, he especially understood that Al Queda doesn’t give a rat’s ass WHO is president – George W. Bush, Barack Hussein Obama or Bruce Springsteen – Al Queda and the ilk want to kill all of us. ALL OF US! So, let Messiah/President Obama go around trying to get everyone to sing “Kumbaya” … those of us with conservative values will be ready with the “I told you so” response. (By the way, should we ask our Democrat friends for their bumper sticker ‘he’s not president?’)

“I regret that I have but one pledge to give to my country. And I already pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.” But I am still going to fulfill those other pledges.
Can somebody please keep track of how many trees Eva Longoria plants this year?
Even if these libtards thought Bush was Lt. Cdr. Queeg, they should have taken to heart Lt. Barney Greenwald’s admonition to the Caine’s junior officers after he got them acquitted of mutiny:
Greenwald: Tell me, Steve, after the Yellowstain business, Queeg came to you guys for help and you turned him down, didn’t you?
Maryk: Yes, we did.
Greenwald: You didn’t approve of his conduct as an officer. He wasn’t worthy of your loyalty. So you turned on him. You ragged him. You made up songs about him. If you’d given Queeg the loyalty he needed, do you suppose the whole issue would have come up in the typhoon?
Pierce Randall “Conservatism screwed up the country, and Obama gave the refutation forever appended to Reagan’s “Government is the problem” nonsense.”
Two unprovable assertions. #1, conservatism is what made this country great, it’s anti-conservatism that wrought our latest problems, ie. CRIA. #2, Obama has refuted nothing other than a whole bunch of people admire and will vote for a pretty face and sooothing words. He has yet to do anything. And we won’t learn the effects for years.

Frankly, I liked the video a lot.
But I understand if you Bush lovers don’t. I recommend that you guys all do what Bush recommended a few years ago: GO SHOPPING!
Do you really believe all this bleating nonsense?
*Celebrities* made Bush’s life intolerable? I think Alec Baldwin and Barbara Streisand’s impact on the world of politics is pretty well nil. Do you have any idea that no…one…listens…to…celebrities, except maybe tween girls, and they can’t vote anyway. Talk about your straw man argument.
And are you still going on about Michael Moore? Even most liberals can’t stand him. I would pity you, except that you’re probably making money off this site, so maybe the joke’s on the readers.
Is Hollywood really your target now? People who make frivolous entertainment for popular consumption? Dear god, your “movement” is in serious trouble.
Grow up and join the world of adults. Conservatives have become such frightened little children. The rest of us are trying to decide whether to ignore you or try to talk some sense into you.
Great job, Andrew: Godspeed! The video should be subtitled either “Nuremberg-Hollywood Rally”, or “How to be an Useful Idiot”
Doesn’t anyone stop to think that most celebrities have pitifully little actual education? Why in the world would I spend a minute listening to the typical Hollywood type – a large number of whom are high-school dropouts? I really don’t understand the whole celebrity-fascination-thing overall.
And by the way, weren’t they all living abroad anyway? I seem to remember a bunch of them pledging to leave the country if Bush was elected the first time. Do yourself a favor. Skip TV and Movies. Read a book.
I’m a republican on economic issues but lean to the left on social issues, and I voted for Obama. No one, however, would call me a “liberal.” I saw Kutcher’s article and it nearly made me throw up. At first, I doubted he wrote it. I mean, come on, this moron meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel? Really, why? Did he want an autograph for his 15 y/o daughter?
And I agree with a large portion of the premise of this article. He’s right, where were these do-gooders during the Bush administration? However, I’d posit the following as an answer to this question. They were, as he said, doing lines off their friends buttocks, but isn’t that what the “people in charge” were doing on Wall Street for the past 8 years, with the administration’s tacit approval?
In short we look to our president for our example, and when the president is telling you it’s o.k. to be greedy, shallow and selfish, who would be inspired to do anything for our next door neighbor?
The problem with this video and with Kutcher’s argument is that these over-paid morons come off as sanctimonious. Bono can legitimately call me out on not performing public service. Cameron Diaz can’t, because she doesn’t do it herself.
Now, if the celebs had acknowledged their previous lack of piety, i.e., we know we’ve acted like selfish douchebags for the last 8 years, and now Obama has inspired us to acknowledge that self-reflection and inspired me to change, and then followed up with examples of how they’ve changed, I would have kept my lunch down. It’s much like Paris Hilton telling Larry King how prison made her realize the priorities in her life. Sorry Paris, but I haven’t seen you at the soup kitchen lately.
So I agree, sanctimonious piety is disgusting and should be called out whenever it’s discovered, so well done Mr. Brietbart. But a new president inspiring an apathetic generation to perform public service is not a bad thing, and the two should not be confused.
Excellent, excellent essay on pop culture today.
It has always made me wonder these past 8 years ~ has Hollywood become so insular that they think they are are invincible ~ that the guns and missiles and atomic weaponry are not pointed at them? That their water supply is so filtered, and their air supply so purified as to nullify any biological warfare? I live 30 minutes from Hollywood ~ the air is no different here in the flat lands of the San Fernando Valley, and our water supply comes from the same source.
I am really well aware of the fact that there are some mean, nasty and scary folks out there that just hate us and want to see us, along with Israel, obliterated. I understood that fact long before 9/11. I learned it from traveling oversees! And these Hollywood types just don’t get it ~ which is surprising ~ they travel, too, after all.
So perhaps it is because they have the money ~ earned in a free market enterprise system, BTW ~ amassed personal fortunes from making movies that denigrate either the American soldier or just plain America or both ~ that affords them the luxury of a safe-room in their mansions.
Hollywood: Elitism at its finest ~ “well, they may hate America, but they don’t hate me” ~ or, arrogance at its worst ~ “well, too bad, so sad ~ they may shoot, but they won’t hurt me.” You take your pick.
Just not worth the cost of a ticket, a bag of popcorn and a soda, is it.
How dare Hollywood get inspired by a Democratic president and vow to lead more generous lives! You know who made life unbearable for
President Bush? President Bush. See, the hate will get you nowhere. Hating people for being partisan is ridiculous when you yourself are heavily partisan. How can you bash Hollywood for its moral irregularity and nontraditional values and hold it up against a high ground example of bipartisanship neutrality at the same time? Liberals are elated because their guy won. Conservatives seem mellowed out and aloof because they’re weary from the beating Bush has taken the past three or four years and they can’t bring themselves to hate the charismatic Obama. Don’t focus that unused hatred on Obama supporters. Let it go. It feels good I promise.
Well said Andrew. You are my hero.
Of course what you described here is more than just these Hollywood lunatics. The sad thing is that the majority of our media class from paper to screen are just as disgusting. I certainly will not forget that Haedball guy’s tingling feeling up his thigh when Obama speaks.
[...] Andrew Breitbart, the founder of the incredibly successful new blog Big Hollywood offers his two cents: [...]
First, let me say that I love this site! There are so many conservatives in Hollywood – many fearful for their jobs. See, Democrats yell “McCarthyism” only when it erodes on their views. Thank you for this great web site!!!
Second, most Americans see these overpaid celebrities as beautiful/handsome but uneducated. With the exception of a the top tier, most of the so-called celebrities are overpaid nobodies who need descriptions after their name so we know who they are.
For example, “Today Mary Smith, the actress who was featured in the film-to-DVD ‘Gone With The Rejects’ where she played the role of a middle-aged woman addicted to Tums,” announced that she will be supporting the new president by planting trees in the front yard of her rental apartment. Smith went on to say that she has absolutely no idea where Barack Obama stands on ANY issues facing America but he’s black (well, uh really half-black) and that’s all she needs to know.
Come on folks – many in America are laughing when celebrities like Ashton Kutcher do these ridiculous things. Of course, we don’t have too much time for laughter as we go about our boring lives trying to earn a living and make enough money to pay our bills without being foreclosed.
While on the subject of Barack Hussein Obama, would someone PLEASE post one accomplishment this man has beyond being half black? ANYTHING!!! I will support our president because that’s what Americans should do but I think he has absolutely NO idea what we are up against with terrorism. It is my fear that there will be another 9/11-like attack to wake up the Obama Kool-Aid Drinking Americans who voted to make history with a half-black president.
With that logic, what will we do in 2012, go with a woman simply because she is female? Then a Mormom? Followed by a Jew? Followed by someoned disabled? Just to make history …
They have nicely packaged DNA but most Hollywood types appear to be shallow. They use “Method Acting” as a substitute for real life expierences. “I am not a American but I played one on TV”. Jimmy Stewart must be rolling over in his grave.
[...] by Andrew Breitbart Many of the celebrities that were central to demonizing and making life impossible for President Bush for eight loathsome years NOW want to help with the heavy lifting of bringing America back together under President Barack Obama. Click to continue [...]
George Bush was hated by the left in a way that his father, Gerald Ford and even Ronald Reagan was not hated by the left because George Bush (and Dick Cheney, Karl Rove) wanted to be hated by the left. One can hardly expect a generous response to that kind of moral certainty which excludes 50.1% of the country who didn’t vote for your side (the first time). I can think of any number of conceivable reasons why Bush acted this way, and I have no idea which combination of them it might be, but George Bush wanted to be able to stand against Hollywood and use them as straw men. No surprise that a president who asks for inclusiveness and collective American effort (America is greater than the sum of its individual ambitions, said the president) gets famous people to sign on to that effort and one who says that if you disagree with him you are, in effect, a traitor, is shunned by the same group. What most of the posters are saying here is, “We are right and you are wrong. Case closed.” No chance for including the rest of us in “your America”. If this way of viewing our country continues, the majority of your fellow citizens who disagree will grow and grow. Yes, the terrorist attack was awful, BUT we bounced back from that as though it was a single bb gun attack. What selfishness has done to this country is going to take much, much longer for us to recover from. What Osama couldn’t do to us we have done to ourselves because we are so afraid of him and his fanatics. Sad, isn’t it?
How can you trust that these people will do what they pledge? Didn’t some of them pledge/vow to love/honor/cherish their partner at one time? At least some of those who “pledged” to move out of USA during Bush’s tenure (and didn’t do as they said) did not appear in this video. What a bunch of losers!
I pledge allegiance to the United States of America, the nation that I chose to be a citizen of when I was naturalized.
Full foreclosure: I voted for Obama, I still think that was the correct decision.
However, a lot of the Obamamania sweeping around is truly terrifying to me. I didn’t like Bush and was very vocal but I intend to hold Obama to the same standard, he has to earn my trust in his leadership and he hasn’t done anything yet. I can’t give him a pass, he’s a politician. The end of this video was horrifying; chanting all together to be a servant of the president? That’s just creepy and messed up. Please don’t assume everyone who voted for him is like this, we’re not.
Bush took hard decisions that he knew he’d be slammed over. He sucked it up and did it anyway. He didn’t ask for 9-11 to land on his watch, but it did and he kept another one from occurring. The Obamabots…well, they want to bring the corrupt stench of Chicago politics to the entire nation. They will, too, for at least a while. When their racist, criminal, empty suit shows his incompetence and venality for the fiftieth or hundredth time, some of them will begin to get a clue about what a stupid choice they made. Some of them, the smarter of the group, will have an epiphany about their cluelessness and will regret voting for Bama the rest of their lives. The young ones will have an excuse. For the older ones…well, they’ll just have to face the fact they got suckered big time by a two-bit charlatan.
Enjoy today, leftie suckers. It’s been all downhill for your boy since the election and the descent just got a lot steeper since he can’t vote “Present” anymore. I’m going to sit back overseas, keeping my money safely away from Obama’s greedy paws, and watch you folks try to explain the unexplainable and defend the indefensible. I’m going to have a good time watch you squirm for the next four years.
I love love LOVE how this article is following immediately after Kutcher’s Huffington Post article on realclearpolitics.
‘I Pledge to Serve President Obama – Ashton Kutcher, Huffington Post’
‘I Pledge to Ridicule Celebrities – Andrew Breitbart, Big Hollywood’
NOW ‘they’ want to be part of ‘us’? NOW they remember what country they live in? I wonder what percentage of people in ‘fly-over country’ know or care who these clowns are. I’m guessing the percentage is low enough to make an agent reach for his Zanax. After eight years of looking down their noses at people like me, telling us at every opportunity how stupid we were for supporting the President, now they want to go all BFF on us? F that.
We’ll see how long all this new ‘unity’ lasts when the illiterati, who can pay Obama’s confiscatory taxes out of petty cash, have to face what his policies will do to the rest of us (how can you make a living in the ‘entertainment’ industry when your audience can’t afford tickets?). But I guess we’ve ‘all’ got to sacrifice. Brush up on your Orwell, folks. The politician’s definition of words like ‘all’ and ‘equal’ is spelled out in ‘Animal Farm’, while the consequences of blind trust are spelled out in ‘1984′.
Remember all the gilded jacktards who were going to go to Canada four and eight years ago? Gee, I wonder why that didn’t happen. Maybe because they didn’t want to wait six months to see a doctor. Or it is too cold up there. (Yes, Algore, cold.) Or perhaps there aren’t enough mindless drones who care what these parasites do — that’s probably reason number one.
Now they want to shill for the fedgovs. Right. They are fair-weather ‘friends’ of the most odious sort, and their ‘loyalty’ is worth zero. If their new hero has any smarts at all, he will recognize that and tell his ’servants’ to go peddle their papers. Not that I expect that to happen…
If Barry can get us through the next four years without another attack on the Homeland, I’ll pledge to say something nice about him (though the genuine appreciation properly belongs to those doing the actual work). Until then, nothing doing. He’s the new kid in town, and he’s got some mighty big shoes to fill. His cheering section should go find real jobs — if there are any to be had by the time the Socialists get through with us.
President Bush did things that he knew to be both necessary and unpopular. Moreover, he resisted the urge to tell what he knew at every turn, even though that might have mitigated some of the criticism, because he knew that so doing would give valuable intel to the enemy. Whereas, among the many things Bush’s predecessor was unable to resist was the opportunity to make himself look good by ‘explaining’ (read, ‘telegraphing’) every move. Bin Laden got a free intelligence briefing every time Clinton opened his face in the presence of microphones. President Bush kept secrets that helped the country at cost to himself — that is character. As I said, the kid has some mighty big shoes to fill.
I promise to give away (for free) all my rainbow brite unicorns to those less

I have realized that past few days how much anger I have built up over the past 8 years over the lies and distortions of Bush beyond normal discussions of his policies, that were absorbed and repeated by the left’s media as fact.
I have posted many similar sentiments at HuffPost, to remind the readers there of what was done to Bush and what the consequences will be for Obama. My comment “I will support Obama in the same way the left supported Bush” seemed to strike a chord with them. The real funny thing about Moore “free[ing] one million people from slavery in the next five years…” is how in a rational manner does she propose this is done.
We just spent billions of dollars and over 4000 American lives freeing people from a cruel dictator. As I recall Moore was not on board with this monumental effort.
Where in the world is she going to find the one million slaves to set free. How will she go about removing the slaveholders – will this be done by force? Or will she personally purchase all the slaves and them set them free. If she purchases them and then sets them free will she guarantee that their new found freedom doesn’t lead them into a worse freedom filled with intense poverty. Will she personally finance an economic recovery in the country where the slaves live? Does she recommend nation building???
Like any platitude stated by the left, her absurd statement falls on its face when a rational inquiry is made to examine it in terms of policy decisions.
Excellent, but one correction. You mention that no WMD’s were found in IRAQ. Well to a degree that is technically true, but was NOT the exact or specific reason the US ventured into IRAQ. The MATERIALS necessary to make WMD’s were there and remained there for many years. Only last Summer the US finished packaging up and safely shipped out of IRAQ the last of 550 metric tons of “uranium-yellowcake” which is the processed material required to refine into fissionable uranium and other fissionable materials. Bush and EVERY RANKING DEMOCRAT including both Clintons KNEW that material was there before the war began, where it was located and the importance of getting control of it even at the cost of a war. Why. Well unfortunately, all those rocket scientists (I joke) in Hollywierd are frankly too ignorant, too stupid, too uninformed to realize that one man’s unrefined yellow-cake is a terrorists dirty bomb and with 550 metric tons of the stuff….Saddam or his terrorist allies (Al Queida included) could have made a lot of large American cities very dirty and unlivable very quickly…and then what would Bush’s critics have said?
Clearly the objective of the Bush Administration was to get those materials out of IRAQ’s hands and to keep those materials from getting into the hands of Hammas, Hezbollah, Iran, any wack-job that is so incredibly committed to his ensane cause, he is willing to kill. Now how difficult is it for all those Hollywood liberals to understand that? The war was never about the likelyhood of IRAQ producing a fissionable nuclear bomb…but about getting deadly raw materials out of their hands so that they couldn’t kill 50,000 Isreali citizens (and probably as many Palestinians and Arabs collaterally) using a relatively simple “dirty bomb” technology.
Does anyone doubt we wouldn’t have seen one or more of such devises set off here as well? Consider 550 metric tons of the stuff can be used to make a lot of dirty bombs. BUSH SAT QUIETLY on that internally well known fact for 5 years. Lead DEMOCRATS new it. Clintons knew it. Yet the news media continued to pillory him and Hollywood continued to scathe him. At ANY moment he could have released the sure knowledge that we and the British had regarding that material stored 12 miles south of Baghdad and barely 60 miles from IRAN. He also knew that keeping quiet meant our best hope for packaging safely and removing the yellow-cake from IRAQ back to North marica. It took about 5 years to do that safely. The material was shipped to a uranium fuel processing plant in Canada. It will power homes and factories and not be used to dirty-up dozens of European, Asian and American cities THANKS to BUSH.
I want to know how many of the nHOLLYWOOD folks that appear in this video will be sending George Bush a thank-you gram for putting OUR NATION and the FREE WORLS above his own political ass. BUSH took the bullet for the nation in that regards and protected the heinys of the thousands of American and foreign troopsd . Idiots like most of PMSNBC owe BUSH a huge apology. Historians will hopefully take serious note of the fact that BUSH kept mum on all this while falling to an all-time low in public opinion polls. In a way, he did what most grat commanders do…sacrifice themselves for the preservation of their command. BUSH is a hero in this regard…not a goat!
Andy you rock. My 4 year old screamed last night she hated Obama. My wife pressed why. My daughter responded because we didn’t vote for him. Our guy didn’t win. We told her that he is our President and we will support him. We don’t act that way just because our guy lost. We are grown ups. We are Republicans. She has an excuse. She is 4.

oh and another thing…
to the “ToSheila” imbecile:
-first, read about Silvio Berlusconi;
-next, ask why he uses the term “imbecile”; and
-then ask why we should care about Bin Laden, when the Bush Admin and other US organizations (NSA, CIA, NAVY SEALS) have decimated Al Queso’s org chart over the past 8 years.
Sure much work to do. But we’ve decimated the Org chart. And prevented known attacks.
I pledge to vote Republican again. I pledge to stop wasteful spending on useless Hollywood produced movies and songs. I pledge not listen to hypocrates who now “pledge” to be such “great” patriots…where the living hell were they for the last 8 years?
Holy crap! That was the most NAZI thing ever….
Hmmm. Let’s see, Demi didn’t even get thru high school. Neither did Nicole & Joel…nor Ashlee Simpson. Eva Longoria’s college degree’s in Phy. Ed. (but that little Jamie Pressly got herself emancipated at 15 and split early for college). A couple of other notable high school drop-outs who stir-it-up: Angelina Jolie & Tom Cruise…
Idea: do you suppose the REAL mojo happening here is that these high profile peeps are actually horribly under-educated and they’re secretly freaked-out by that? Scarier still: they stumbled across the fact that dumbed-down Americans actually ALLOW them to have this attention and be of influence?
PS: Sorry, Mr. Arquette, don’t want your pee in the bowl when I come in after you to plunk my ignorant Grad-School-Degreed Ass down on the toilet seat.

——————–
Jim hit the nail on the head. Why is it celebs are now calling for us to act in these pledges of servanthood. Why weren’t they already doing this for the last 8 years under Bush, how about the 8 years of Slick Willie’s reign? Many of us regular Americans (those living in states between the Coasts) have been silently doing our part for most of our lives, knowing that this is what a citizen does. What do they want now? A cookie? We do acts of service to help our country, not to be a servant to a dictator/president. I do my part as a citizen, not a servant, no matter who is in the presidency. That is what a true American does.
From now on, I pledge with every fiber of my being to destroy the liberal left and mainstream media. I will do my part to change the culture of our country by not supporting the hypocritical hollywood elite and the industry that breeds them. No more movies, cd’s, books, etc. from people I deem culpable in the hi-jacking of our American Culture. I will do all that I can too change the welfare mentality of liberals in this country as well as raise a voice of opposition to the new administrations “socialist agenda”. Lastly, I will extend to President Obama and his zombie hoard the same “graciousness” they showed to President Bush. Payback is a *itch.
Keep the change, 2012 is just 4 years away.

Clearly, Demi and crew, do not understand how American government works. *WE* are not servants to the President or anyone else in political office. *THEY* are servants to us. (This would be the reason they are called public servants)
It is up to our elected officials to govern and put into place laws that reflect what *we the people* want.

I pledge…to kick the next liberal spouting garbage like this directly in the nuts.
What the hell…I love this “we’re all in this together” crap like we’re no longer allowed to dissent in America. Especially when that message is conveyed to me by a group of self-righteous people who spent the past 8 years trashing our previous president here and abroad.
I think the biggest challenge for those of us who are conservatives is to try and understand the liberal mindset. Why is that such a challenge? Because as conservatives we’ve all moved on from high school, they haven’t.
Think about who these people are, and the effect that has had on their attitude toward life. When your talking actors and actresses, for the most part these are the “beautiful people”, the ones who have always had the good looks, that little extra bit of charm, that “it” factor, whatever it might be that gets them noticed.
They were the “in-crowd” in high school, adoring the adulation of their peers not so much for any sort of accomplishment, but rather just by the sake of their very existance. And if there is one thing you do not do as part of the “in-crowd” it’s to take any sort of unpopular stand or voice any sort of opposition to the group-think of the crowd. That sort of thing gets you ostracized real quick, and believe me that is something most in-crowders simply cannot survive.
So it’s small wonder when they do get to Hollywood and finally get “noticed” by the “right people” that they go with what they are most familiar with. You see, liberalism, despite the fact that it is utterly devoid of ideas, sounds good.
It sounds so “compassionate” to “care” about the underdog, the downtrodden, the folks that supposedly have no voice or no say or no options. The problem is that liberal ideas don’t really help these people, if anything they just make things worse for them, but liberals are the folks who have never understood that sometimes the best way to help people is to get them to help themsleves.
So when these folks get to Hollywood and they get into that society where image is everything and substance is nothing, it’s small wonder that they do what they’ve always done and simply go along with the rest of the group.
Eventually that liberalism becomes ingrained, and once that happens you can throw reason, common sense, logic and facts right out the window. It becomes a knee-jerk, reactionary, “If you don’t think like I do your evil” type of philosphy. So much of their own self worth is tied up into their politics that they have to constantly attack and denigrate the non-believer. Any voice of dissent they hear is to their mind saying, “You are not a good person.”
It’s a lot easier to be a liberal than it is a conservative, and a lot less time consuming. To be a liberal, you show up, get the pamplhet, mouth the right sentiments and your done. You don’t have to know what your talking about, have checked your facts, or do any leg work yourself. If you praise/defend the people on the “good” list regardless of their actions and denigrate the people on the “bad” list, again regardless of their actions, shebang, your a liberal. You can be considered a “great” liberal simply by espousing the right nonsense and “showing up.” No actual accomplishment required.
To be a conservative though, takes a lot of work. You have to actually research things, think about not just how stuff sounds but how it actually works in practical application. You have to be able to listen to logical arguments and logical objections and if someone can prove that you are wrong on a certain point, you have to acknowledge that and adjust your thinking accordingly. To a conservative it’s all about how things work, it’s a philosphy that requires constant effort, constant re-examination, and a constant search for a better way to achieve your desired goal.
Not the sort of mindset you tend to find in most of the folks that flock to Hollywood. Again, there are some fantastic exceptions to this, as noted by the very existence of this website, but that is perhaps why they are the exception in Hollywood, as opposed to the rule.
Keep up the great work guys, love the site

Spot on as usual Mr. Breitbart. Now, for all of you posting and reading the TRUTH on this site: Make Hollywood PAY!!!!!!!!! Stop going to the movies these celebutards (thank you to the person who coined that earlier) make! Barbara Streisand, Oprah, the dumb 3 of 4 on the view (Mrs Hasselback is awesome!). WE, the majority, must make this happen. Hit their wallets, that is all they really care about while they sit in their carbon-unfriendly mansions, yachts, or Italian vacation villas. We can make them pay! Please join me in saving the greatest country on earth…because it won’t be so great if the enemies have their way (yes, enemies to the culture that made this country the BEST over the last 200+ years). Ashton Kutcher’s asinine pledge to serve George Soros’ Puppet Obomination is beyond laughable.
I’ve had a gut full of these sieve headed celebrities ramming their far left crap down our throats. The majority of them are self absorbed, drugged up, losers with dull normal intelligence, who are incapable of sustaining a permanent relationship. They can’t get real jobs, so they play at life.
I pledge to take every opportunity to run down their smoke and mirrors messiah, just as they did George Bush. I also pledge never to give another America hating celebrity a dime of my hard earned money.
Really, guys? Do any of you realize that we didn’t have to go to war and that this republican regime that has broken and demolished our rights as American citizens, changed the Constitution for the most advantageous gains for the executive branch since Andrew Jackson, cheated the public out of the truth–lied to cover their tracks, and than in the end secretively passed a bill to retroactively pardon themselves from war crimes (Did anyone remember the Geneva Convention? Anyone?) Afghanistan, yes. Why haven’t we heard of anything from Afghanistan in six years? Ok, so the media is corrupt. But that’s a legitimate war. Oh wait! We gave them weapons and resolve twenty years ago! Now they’re against us! Now the Bush family repeats history in Iraq, just because of daddy Bush’s personal vandetta. Why will this war be killing our children for another fifty years? Why can the government defy any rights of privacy we ever had? Patriot Act?

I just would like to say that George Busch had a fair chance at change and chose to continue with his war path and demanding victory! Victory is by not having our country re-invaded by terrorists, by continuing to up our national security risk level and check and arrest those who don’t comply and wish to pretend they don’t understand. Victory is freedom of speech, freedom to vote and freedom to express our opinions! None of the banks or car industries should be bailed out from the government, they should have to problem solve and immediately. Their overzealous pay and gratuities got them in this jam, they should have to bail themselves out. The Credit card companies along with the banks and credit unions have caused the major foreclosures to the naive Americans who laid trust in their interest rate loans, without knowing they needed a magnifying glass to read the deceit which diminished so many American’s credit and dreams. If the banks and credit loan officers would get on board with the economy and lower their bank notes by refinancing at a respectable rate and only loan to those credit worthy according to the people’s worth and not their assets, I believe they could’ve come through for all of America without this disastrous recession/on the brink of depression for all. Now, they want to only provide credit to those with outstanding credibility. (A little late, I would say.) The accountants, brokers, government, assessors, and economists all new this was coming. They chose to not spread the truth, for fear of a panic stricken America, whom might decide to close their retirement accounts, cash their stock market funds and live in a real world vs. what message they continued to give the public. (Lies-False hope/half-truths/lies by omission!) So, we all are paying now and will for years to come. I believe it’s not too late to take drastic measures of change and hold the main players accountable without costing all of Americans to pay for generations to come. Change, yes we need, but as I said before, change has been needed for years. We didn’t go broke overnight. The scandals that have erupted in the past few years has contributed to this harsh blow to our economy and those are the one’s who should pay and pay deeply, for their lies, violations of trust, lies of morals and values and judgment to all. So many of these large companies took advantage of the meek to earn their dollar for the minutes and days that they could, knowing in their minds so many people’s pocket books would be drained, their self worth humiliated, their enriched lives turned to bleakness and powerless. One change that needs attention to is the American dream of self worth in one’s job. That if you are a good and dedicated employee you will have your job for life, not stripped away from under you because someone younger, better-looking and has more education than the skilled worker who has given their life to live to retire in a realistic and a true retirement wage that they can live on. Our fathers’ and so on down have paid in to the government to protect us and what did the government do with that income? Borrow, borrow and borrowed until they can’t pay out for us who have paid in our entire lives. The government pays the American Indians to this day for taking their land away. How long should this go on? The government pays taxes, food stamps, health insurance and an income for immigrants. What about ceasing those funds, to give back to the working class families who have paid in to the government their entire lives? What about how we have to wait longer to retire, just because we are living longer. Doesn’t this have to do with living healthier life styles? Why should healthy Americans be punished instead of being able to retire and enjoy some final healthy years? These are just a few of my opinions. I would be glad to hear any and all responses for and against what I have stated.
Sincerely,
Proud to be an American and Proud of all of our Military!

If this wasn't so scary it would be considered comedy at it's height. Go hang out with the ex-Mr. Ronstadt in sunny California and squirt water on each other so you don't spark up and start another fire. Oh, by the way, kiss my ass.
A stellar collection of useful idiots for the dear leader. No, that's a bit mild… useful mega-imbeciles ? Well we all get the idea. This is so absurd, mindless, steeped in hypocrisy it could be just a laughable parody. Except, um, the misguided dopes really mean it. It is my contention that the Hollywood ignorati adopt the label of liberalism because they think it gives them instant intellectual credentials. They feel superior to the gum-chewing public that they are supposed to entertain but insist on preaching their politics to. It is somewhat gratifying to watch this empty drivel and laugh at their profound stupidity. So let's all just have a good laugh.
