‘Climategate’: Good News World! A Crisis of Faith is Ended
by Adam Baldwin“[Marxist theories provide] a set of slogans that were supposed to justify and glorify communism and the slavery that inevitably goes with it… [although] the ideological fantasies of this movement … were no more than a nonsensical expression of the whims of spoilt middle-class children… the movement did without doubt express a profound crisis of faith.”– Leszek Kolakowski

We live in interesting times, as goes the ancient Chinese curse, wherein vainglorious environmentalist addicts to “the self-deification of mankind” are now desperately clinging to Nietzsche’s “God is dead” raft because humans are, according to their pseudo-science, “killing the planet.”
Yet, as the self-serving rats abandon the sinking ship of fools, the band of “Green Freak” true believers plays on…
For example, an actor cum environmental activist intolerantly agitates the slogans “Read peer-reviewed studies!”, “You should have an energy audit in your home!” & “You can’t destroy the commons!” on Fox News.
As if using incandescent light bulbs could destroy the commons.
In response to the good news that anthropogenic ‘global climate change’ has now, at long last, been irrefutably exposed by the infamous CRU emails as a gigantic hoax and fraud — shouldn’t Green Freaks be happy, or at least somewhat relieved for earth’s sake?
Apparently, not… Which would indicate the whole charade was never an ethical scientific endeavor at all, but an ideological-financial-political bamboozle.
Replete with its very own crypto-religious dogma, and indulgence purchases:
–
It’s no secret that many of the ideological refugees from the Soviet socialist collapse retrenched within the environmental movement. This was an easy and obvious choice for them to make, in that one of the main currents of the socialist vanguard, historically, had been the divide-and-conquer exploitation of under-class groups as their surrogate agents for their (hopelessly unsustainable) utopian revolution.
However, during WWI the working class thankfully abandoned the revolution in favor of capitalism’s Liberty, thus debunking Marxist theory and forcing its totalitarian vanguard to scrounge around for other groups to exploit. This is reflected in what we witness as race/gender/sexual-preference groups being agitated to heighten tensions and divisions in what would otherwise be a generally peaceful, coexisting majority in America and elsewhere.
“Never let a crisis you’ve created go to waste… or allow a surrogate mascot to escape its dependency on the statist savior…” or something.
Within the irrational cult of indiscriminate environmentalism, statists found perfect surrogate-mascots for their failed revolution: animals, plants, rocks, water, even the very air we all breathe. Of course, these un-sentient mascots have no voice, and therefore no choice as to who should speak on their behalf according to their needs.
So, the “Save the Planet!” statists expediently leapt at the chance to again (once and for all) subvert capitalism and individual Liberty by brandishing these creatures and inanimate objects as their moral-do-gooder swords and shields. Epic fail!
One can perhaps muster some sympathy for ignorant useful idiot global warm-mongers that were simply acting with misguided ‘good-intentions’ and are now suffering the anguish of losing their religion.
But, derision and criminal charges are certainly due the unscrupulous racketeers that intentionally cooked the data, or selfishly looked the other way as a means to amassing personal profits in the fraudulent Green racket. Algore, Carol Browner, call your office.
As America and the world rejoices in the Good News of Climategate’s revelations, does President Obama really want to seem like such an obvious tool of the climate-change hoax crowd by letting his ideology override his fading political instincts?

Yes "Goblow Warming" is definitely a political movement to make the wealthy educated hardworking folks feel guilty unless they voted democratic so they could save the world. What a bunch of hooey.
“We desperately need a nonpartisan, blinded funding mechanism to conduct research to determine appropriate policy. Scientists are only too aware whom they are working for. Those who fund research — whether a drug company, a government agency, or an environmental organization — always have a particular outcome in mind. Research funding is almost never open-ended or open-minded. Scientists know that continued funding depends on delivering the results the funders desire. As a result, environmental organization ‘studies’ are every bit as biased and suspect as industry ‘studies.’ Government ‘studies’ are similarly biased according to who is running the department or administration at the time. No faction should be given a free pass.” (Michael Crichton, State of Fear, 2004)
SO, the word is finally out…statists LIED about "Global Warming"…

Oh God… I miss Crichton.
Just watch that video and see how calmly and easily and clearly he explains away the environmentalists…
As for the rest of the article: I think it's a great idea that from now on we just always speak and write in a way that clearly expresses that AGW has finally died. The libs and greens have always spoken like it was a foregone conclusion that they were right, now its our turn.
Another great article Adam! You must be real popular on the left coast. I look for some real hysterics out of the global warming cultist, as climategate builds steam…great fun!
That opening quote is genius.
Excellent, excellent points. It was only a matter of time before the left found an ideology to attach themselves to that would give them the opportunity to claim the moral high ground. Whenever you try to argue against global warming, they gasp Heathens! Don't you care about the planet!? Never mind the junk science. Their intentions are *pure* so it must be okay. (And I mean pure with total sarcasm)

Crank up the smokestacks and amp up the beef sales. A new Ice Age is upon us!!
Oh nohz!!
I agree with Mr Crichton except the statement religion can not do the jobs that need done to preserve our environment. We are commanded to be good stewerts of our earth and I would argue just as our great nation has progressed to its current place founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, the task of preserving our environment may well depend on returning to those principles. Through faith, translated to actions and human behavior, the Lord of the universe can change people and our world. Without faith, we are left to consequences of our own misguided choices.
People wake up. The global warming conspiracy that is being perpetrated upon the dullards of the world will continue on even with copius amounts of PROOF that it is all a scam. The dullards (i.e. liberals) want to believe in something so they have chosen global warming to believe in. As long as these monkeys don't try to take my money I could care less what they think.
I think you're generally right about the envy of American prosperity. But it's a love/hate kind of thing. When I was in Japan during college, my friends and I were treated as almost quasi-celebrities because we were so exotic to them. I kid you not, we had people ask to take their pictures with us. Anything that was considered "Western" was hugely en vogue and mutilated English slogans were all over Japanese merchandise. At the same time though, we were sometimes the objects of suspicion and racism because we were different. When it comes to the environmental agenda it's really important to realize that the motives of other nations in regulating the U.S. has a lot to do with envy and very little to do with the environment.
It's nice to read someone finally exposing environmentalism as a type religion and not just a poltical view point. Guess we could probably say, "Global Warming is dead." (Although I have this feeling people aren't going to let go of it so easily.)
I care about the planet. The solution is not carbon credits and "green" lifestyles. As long as the human population continues growing, our environment problems (AGW or otherwise) will continue to get worse. Although I don't advocate state-enforced family size limits or abortion, I do believe that a concerted effort to reduce the number of human beings competing for limited resources is the way to go. We can do it voluntarily through education and cultural change. (That's why we have brains – so we can do stuff like that.) Or we can wait for Mother Nature to take care of the problem with plague, famine, or unforseeable genetic diseases. The fact is, the planet doesn't need saving from humanity. The planet will destroy us long before we destroy it.
does President Obama really want to seem like such an obvious tool of the climate-change hoax crowd by letting his ideology override his fading political instincts?
Yes.
This isn't over by any means. In my opinion it hasn't even started to end. The MSM, the democrats, modern liberals, academia, and the left in general have far too much time, money, effort and credibility invested in this massive hoax to let go of it.
Do not underestimate the extent they will go to keep this moving. I'm still arguing with my sister who tells me Gorbachev won the Cold War by essentially reaching out and grabbing the bumbling Reagan's hand and pulling him into the future.
This is not Yorktown, this is Lexington & Concord.
Here's a few quotes from people at the vanguard of the environmentalist movement.
“We need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.” – Stephen Schneider, Stanford Professor of Climatology, lead author of many IPCC reports
“We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.” – Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation
“No matter if the science of global warming is all phony, climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.” – Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Environment
What more needs to be said?
That is exactly what they've been getting around for all these years.
As a believer of the scientific method, I've been completely outraged at what has been allowed to pass. I didn't study my ass off with all those physics, calculus, engineering and lab classes to allow these ass hats to make my degrees meaningless.
Second hand smoke.
Socialism/Communism/Liberalism/Modern-Liberalism/Progressives operate on one single, over riding ideal, divide and conquer.
Find a group of people, divide them into factions, determine which faction is most likely to vote for them, then convince them they are victims, and justice lies in using government to crush the other faction. As a nice side note, modern liberals get power.
What bigger victim group than the entire world?
Clap, clap, clap!
Exactly, class warfare. One of the easiest ways for fomenting dissent and strife.
And in the chaos of strife, there is opportunity.
Modern liberals may seem like they are insane, but at the upper echelons, they know exactly what they are doing.
Organic foods.
I like the way they're backpeddling now. Do we even know if these "scientists" are really who they SAY they are. I mean once a liar always a liar in my book.
This well-written article underscores why appeasement fails. If US citizens were to give liberals everything they want, would liberals even exist anymore? No, they must always push for the next level of extremity, or resolve to fix the next "crisis", and, by definition, must seek to mainstream the absolute fringes (you see it already: NAMBLA, vegetation "rights", zoophilia, whatever).
Liberals cannot stand the status quo, no matter how good/right/fair/ethical/proven it is, even if it is one they have created.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, man made global warming is a money making scam and I wish I would have gotten in on it at the start!
I assume that you've let God know that He really screwed up this whole human experience thing? You'd think that, as God, He would have been able to see the effects over time of the mortal experience on the planet that He created. Really, what was He thinking? It's so difficult to get good celestial project management nowadays.
So your "brainy" solution: no enforcement by the state, but "voluntary" educational and cultural change. I've just found my definition of "dichotomy".
I think the point is that they are trying to take your money.
The rate of increase of the human population is already declining.
Estimates are now that worldwide human population will top out at 14-billion, then slowly decline.
There is enough room for all of us, unless we do something stupid like cripple the world's economy.
When economic conditions improve, people have fewer children.
Jonathan Swift said this better hundreds of years ago.
But reality has nothing to do with belief, William James(the father of american pragmatism) broken down simply means, if idiots think it's real it is to them, so if you get enough morons to agree it is reality, so care more.
AWG is the fastest growing religion on the planet, facts or lack thereof to the contrary. It is espoused mainly by people who deny GOD but still need something to cling to to give meaning to their lives, therefore they will fight to the bitter end to defend their delusions regardless of the damage that is done to economies societies and inthe end their own reputations.
News we'd all like to see: "While planning his funeral, Al Gore encounters his greatest burning issue to date: The carbon footprint of his cremation!"
(running and ducking)
Ad hominem arguments prove nothing. Has anyone here actually seen the facts? Or just someone else's interpretation of them?
You are absolutly correct sir! When I read the following:
<h2>In response to the good news that anthropogenic ‘global climate change’ has now, at long last, been irrefutably exposed by the infamous CRU emails as a gigantic hoax and fraud — shouldn’t Green Freaks be happy, or at least somewhat relieved for earth’s sake?
Apparently, not… Which would indicate the whole charade was never an ethical scientific endeavor at all, but an ideological-financial-political bamboozle.</h2>
… I said the same thing as you.
There is just way too much at stake for these people to roll up the carpet and pack it in. Between the acts of rewriting history as it's happening and ignoring any mention of the matters at hand, there are people who think that this will just blow over. And if enough people will just think the same way, everything will be ok.
Too bad for them. Now, let's make them stand accountable for the falsities they've brought upon our society. We certainly are living in interesting times.
You state "But… criminal charges are certainly due the unscrupulous racketeers" as if that's even REMOTELY going to happen. The putrid stench passed off as "Law Enforcement" will bow and scrape before their Masters and then do whatever they're told. Just like the fine California "Law Enforcement" is currently doing for Moonbat on ACORN. Investigate ACORN? No way in hell! Go after those two brave journalists who exposed the sewage? You betcha! And then they wonder why they're called pigs.

What facts have YOU seen, JFC?
The ones that, as it turns out, aren't facts?
Ad hominem . Funny, did you learn that @ Troll Academy?

This is why I've heard someone in the know say, "the old guard has to die before the real truths can be revealed," and he was referring to scientists.
"All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." (Arthur Schopenhauer )
Hey, you're stating all the good ones!

Simulacra and Simulations
"The simulacrum is never that which conceals the truth–it is the truth which conceals that there is none.
The simulacrum is true."

… and so does go away this United Nation, Global Heating science – ooops, sorry, new religion…
… and since (fortunately) attitudes a’changin’ in a helthier direction, soon, and in the same manner will go away the “scientific” truth that has established that homosexuality is a “normal facet of the human sexuality”, fraudulent tenet so dear to liberals.
Since we are talking about “Mike’s NATURE trick” – pray, can anyone explain where is the science that allowed the removal of homosexuality in 1973 from the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association list of mental afflictions?
Doctor Hooker’s study (a piece of Michurin/ Lisenko science in itself) was the convincing science piece that was embraced by that collection of “scientists” and since 1973, the issue has became taboo, and has developed in an ample and completely fraudulent doctrine nicely rounding the warming fraud –
Sooner or later we’ll hear about this…
Yes, there's a lot of envy, but my observation is that it's not the African worker-bees or the Asian middle managers who are angry about it – they're all applying for visas to come here. It's the non-productive multicultural "intellectuals" from around the world, including here, who profess to be angry on their behalf and want to invoke massive change on us without having to suffer the consequences of that change.
>>vainglorious environmentalist addicts to “the self-deification of mankind” are now desperately clinging to Nietzsche’s “God is dead” <<
Sorry, but reading this Breitbart Hollywood is very good at convincing me that "God is dead".
People who are in touch with the Creator of the 'verse should reflect the supposed goodness of the Creator. At least Christianity claims that. Where's goodness in unneccessarily slandering people?
I like Capitalism. It's the better system that should win. Yet, it's not a system that's a sustainable one.
"The Earth got used up". That's all.
Oh, also DDT, since we're mainly talking about environmental stuff here. I learned that from Crichton's "State of Fear," incidentally.
"Although I don't advocate state-enforced family size limits or abortion, I do believe that a concerted effort to reduce the number of human beings competing for limited resources is the way to go."
That's a great idea! And I think the enviro-moonbats of the left should set an example for the rest of us and stop breeding.
The population crisis which we face today is that too many developing nations have upside down family trees–4 grandparents; 2 parents; one child. All of the western european nations except Ireland have a birth ratio of about 1.5 children per woman of child-bearing age, or .6 children BELOW ZPG.
With workers retiring early and living longer, european nations will face an exodus of young workers as the tax burden of providing benefits for a larger number of retirees. Hopefully, we'll be the beneficiaries if Obama leaves office 1/20/2013.
In poor countries, many children mean greater security in societies with no safety net. "Education and cultural change" really means paying Third World corruptocrats to force these changes on their subject populations. Opening family planning clinics in Darfur makes about as much sense as opening weight loss centers during a famine.
It's damn cold here!
The AGW true believers have yet begun to fight. The coming months, when more information will undoubtedly be revealed, will be interesting. These AGWers are not going to go down silently.
Population explosion, Forest and tree extinction!!
Health care reform = Health care insurance destruction.
It's still global…I mean climate change, so says the owlgore!
It's darn warm here in Finland! No snow, no under zero temperatures. It's supposed to be winter! ?

Well said. The founders of this country were inspired to write the documents that has served this country well. Remind your Reps, if something has to go, it will be them, if they don't respect them.
24"Therefore (V)everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25"And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26"Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27"The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell–and great was its fall."
28(W)When Jesus had finished these words, (X)the crowds were amazed at His teaching;
29for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
Watching to see what is done and by whom in investigating and bringing to justice the perps in this Emperor Has No Clothes "staged" play. Doubt that the perps are aware that there will be a big "backfire" that will warm their britches rather than the planet. There will be no sliding out of this. It has caused us all stress and money and extra unnecessary work and planning, and hid the truth from us. They have no right to play with OUR LIVES AND OUR FUTURES AND OUR WORLD like they have done, and get away with it. Citizens have legal rights to protection from these people. Move over MADOFF, company's coming and you can spend time comparing "schemes."

Enjoy it while you have it. 1,000 years ago, what we call Greenland actually was green.
By 2050, every single European country is projected to have a Muslim majority, and there's no way to reverse that now. It is going to happen. North America still has time to turn the tide, but that's if they start working on it right now. If not for our Latino population, the overall population of this continent would be in a rapid decline, and it's been estimated that by the beginning of 2100, the United States will also have a Muslim majority. The average family in Europe has 1.5 children. The average Muslim family in Europe has 8 children. World Muslim political leaders have been caught on film saying that they don't need terrorists and suicide bombers to change the world, they just need patience, because their children will do the work for them. In about 50 years, the world is going to be a very different place. What types of attitudes and politics do you think are going to be in play when the majority of every single democratic nation in the world is Muslim?
Adam Great post.
I think one of the reasons that these nonsense tactics works is the failure to teach science in the class room the way they were doing even 30 years ago. These people telling us to "read peer reviewed" studies are the same people whose last science class was in eighth grade because the high schools treated "science" as an elective who clepped "Algebra" in hig school so they would not have to take a math class in college. If they had taken any science classes they would explain how the science worked. When the IPCC had the Cambridge press send a 198 page document explaining all the "horrors" that would befall us due to Global Warming it would devout more than a quarter of one page to a graph to explain the meaning of the ANtartic Ice Core samples to evidence that CO2 levels are rising. It might even speculate things like what is the optimum level of CO2 in our atmosphere for our species. You'd think with an 800 billion Cap and Trade Tax they might want to answer that question. It is scary that the average american high school student in 1950 learned more science in school that in 2010. And they dare to call themselves Progressives…….
If you truly believe this, then I assume you're putting yourself at the head of the line, right?
I don't disagree with any of this. I would just challenge you to go one step more and read up on Social Darwinism, Monism and the Eugenics movement of the late 19th and early 20th century. You will find that the Climate-Change crowd marches nicely to the beat of that drum. We are already learning that members of the current administration believe that life does not begin until a child is about three years old. They emphasize the doom of the world through over population and when you start taxing a person for breathing (ie carbon footprint, carbon off-sets) it can only get worse from there.
"I care about the planet…As long as the human population continues growing, our environment problems (AGW or otherwise) will continue to get worse."
America's air and water are cleaner now than 1970, after 40 years of population growth.
"…I don't advocate state-enforced family size limits or abortion, [A] concerted effort to reduce the number of human beings…is the way to go. We can do it voluntarily through education and cultural change."
The biggest single cause of reduced birth rates is prosperity, with no concerted effort whatever.
"Or…Mother Nature [will] take care of the problem with plague, famine, or…genetic diseases."
Good Job! It would be wonderfully helpful if someone could setup a website with those quotes and all quotes from people in any official capacity, who have pushed Global Warming claiming truth about it wasn't important, but that the crisis it creates is useful (hummm sounds like something a Rahm E would say huh?)… anyway, a gathered Quote list would gather sources to be brought before HEARINGS to publicly explain their intentions and their knowledge that Global Warming needed "help" to survive.
The list would help those working for justice to know who the perps are so they can be investigated. We don't want to miss anyone who pushed this. If our "justice" pursues Nazi war SUSPECTS we can gather and try these criminals.
Every European country except for Muslim Albania is reproducing at less than replacement birthrate. Greece,Italy and Spain are at about half. The US is either right at or just below replacement. The countries with the highest birthrates? Niger has a birthrate of over 50 per 1000 persons(the US is 13.8 per 1000). Most of the other countries at the top of the list are alot like Niger. Why are you preaching to us?
There is no Mother Nature. We live on a rock with an atmosphere. True, the planet is an ecosystem composed smaller ecosystems. But plagues, famines and genetic diseases don't arise from overcrowding and they're not caused by the planet. (Some non-genetic diseases are related to overcrowding, but our technologies pretty much have that situation in hand. Witness Singapore.)
"[T]the planet doesn't need saving from humanity. The planet will destroy us long before we destroy it."
True. The poorer we are, the more likely we are to succumb to starvation or exposure. Obama's misguided policies are practically guaranteed to cause a lot more of both.
BTW, cant remember where I saw this but I recently read that by 2020 or 2025 half of the Russian Army will be Muslim. Pretty sure it was in Mark Steyn's "America Alone".
No, it didn't. It's not even half used up. That's claptrap.

Excerpt from Chapter 12 of Anthem: Ayn Rand novel
I look upon the history of men…and I wonder. It was a long story, and the spirit which moved it was the spirit of man's freedom. But what is freedom? Freedom from what? There is nothing to take a man's freedom away from him, save other men. To be free, a man must be free of his brothers. That is freedom. That and nothing else.
At first, man was enslaved by the gods. But he broke their chains. Then he was enslaved by the kings. But he broke their chains. He was enslaved by his birth, by his kin, by his race. But he broke their chains. He declared to all his brothers that a man has rights which neither god nor king nor other men can take away from him, no matter what their number, for his is the right of man, and there is no right on earth above this right. And he stood on the threshold of the freedom for which the blood of the centuries behind him had been spilled.
But then he gave up all he had won, and fell lower than his savage beginning.
What brought it to pass? What disaster took their reason away from men? What whip lashed them to their knees in shame and submission? The worship of the word "We."
When men accepted that worship, the structure of centuries collapsed about them, the structure whose every beam had come from the thought of some one man, each in his day down the ages, from the depth of some one spirit, such spirit as existed but for its own sake. Those men who survived — those eager to obey, eager to live for one another, since they had nothing else to vindicate them — those men could neither carry on, nor preserve what they had received. Thus did all thought, all science, all wisdom perish on earth…
But I still wonder how it was possible, in those graceless years of transition, long ago, that men did not see whither they were going, and went on, in blindness and cowardice, to their fate. I wonder, for it is hard for me to conceive how men who knew the word "I," could give it up and not know what they lost…

The facts are: we don't know what the effect of increased CO2 levels are doing.
The global warming hysteria is being propagated by opportunists who can't even handle freshman physics let alone claim to understand a shred of climatology.
I came across a good one today. Liberals are like watermelons. Green on the outside and Red on the inside.
Liberals are like watermelons. GREEN on the outside and RED on the inside.
Hard to believe that the main stream media is totally ignoring the Global Warming Hoax. Now we have the top scientists in the world who believe in Global Warming covering up the fact that the earth is actually cooling. I don't get it. Democrats seem to line up at the though for another feeding of lies from Al Gore and the rest of the fools that believe this Global Warming nonsense. Wake up America if Global Warming was fact why would the scientists try to cover up the fact that the earth has been in a cooling cycle. Their goal is to tax us to death with this Cap and Tax scheme the Democrats have come up with. The goal of the USA should be to become energy
independent without taxing Americans.
I think you missed Mr. Chrichton's point about why religion will not work to save the environment. we are not as smart as we think and we don't have the answers. The national parks have been hurt by us trying to help. Flexibility is needed. We need to walk away and try something different if what we're doing isn't working. And the one thing you don't find in fundamentalist religions is flexibility.
All you're doing here is replacing one pseudo man-made disaster for another. The overpopulation crisis was predicted years ago … and it didn't pan out. Read the Population Bomb by some idiot who is now working with Al Gore.
Families and cultures are defined by whether they consider their people to be a treasure or a liability. The very people that you consider a burden on "mother earth" are the same people who brought us the technology to grow more crops on less land, etc etc. As PJ O'Rourke says: Population control means way too much of you, just the right amount of me. The earth is not overpopulated and is in no danger of becoming so. Bangladesh has the same population density as Fillmore, CA. Every person in the world can currently fit in the state of Texas.
Go forth and populate. People are our greatest treasure. And while you're not breeding, read All The Trouble in the World by PJ. You'll sleep better.
Thank you! Keep hammering it home. The breath-taking nasty of it was to lay down and construct the phony foundation on which massive wealth taking could be justified.
SInce it's all about wealth-taking, it'll keep moving onwards – zombie-like – fake climate models or no fake climate models. No complacency – people are STILL parroting, "peer-reviewed," "scientists have no reason to lie" and "well, of course everyone KNOWs we're warming."
Total la-la land. This is going to take a while.
I got them with two sources for verification from Alan Korwin. He's an attorney here in Phoenix who publishes the books about state gun laws. I have more of them including the links where they come from on my blog, http://survivingscrounge.com . I'm certain that there is more evidence out there of the collusion among the people pushing this fraud. The UN is still planning on pushing through their global warming plans and Obama's socialist climate czar has said that they have not intention of changing their position on it. Heavy forbid facts stand in the way of their agenda to impoverish the people of the industrialized world.

Why denigrate someone who believes the factual evidence by calling them a denier? The Duke University Tree Ring study studied tree rings for the last 1000+ years, not the 100+ that Mann used to create his now disproven hockey stick graph. The global warming alarmists have been claiming a .8 degree Celsius increase over the last 150 years. Of course, the fact that prior to that time the planet had been in a 300+ year long mini ice age isn't explained to people. To claim that the earth is warming is like saying that your freezer is going into a warming phase when it auto defrosts, or a frozen lake is warming when it thaws in the spring. Temperatures during the medieval warming period ,that the AGW alarmists excluded from their data set, were much higher than they are now. Someone once said that facts are stubborn things. The facts are that the planet isn't so much warming as it is thawing. There is plenty of evidence that the glaciers weren't always there, so their melting is not that big of a deal. If the glaciers had been there forever, they wouldn't be finding wooly mammoths or Bronze age men frozen in them or plant life under them.
Well, they can fight all they want, but when the people of the US discover that they have been thrust into abject poverty over a fraudulent scientific theory, the resulting explosion will end the entire thing. The taxation and regulations that the AGW alarmists are proposing will send the standard of living in this country down the tubes. Many can see this and are preparing for it. Since the people in DC are ignoring the anti tax demonstrations, they may get a really rude awakening when during a subsequent one the people are armed and angry. Seeing as I doubt they are going to give up their power peaceably following an election (honestly I think they'll be running even more fraud schemes than last time in 2010) a revolt is imminent if they continue as they are. Of course Thomas Jefferson did say over 200 years ago that "the tree of liberty must from time to time be fed with the blood of patriots and tyrants for that is its natural manure." But then again according the Obama, a lot of us are just bitter clingers.
Actually Capitalism is the ONLY sustainable system. Without capitalism, there would be no money to develop alternative energy sources, develop new insulations, or "green" building materials. Why do I say that? Because capitalism is the only system wherein when supply exceeds demand, prices rise to keep them in balance and budding capitalists develop new technologies to meet the unfulfilled demand. Look at oil shale for example. If oil stays below the cost of producing oil from shale, shale doesn't make any sense to develop as there will be no market for it. If the demand for oil outstrips demand sufficiently as to drive prices up, oil shale becomes profitable and is then developed. When oil shale production hits a certain percentage of oil on the market, the overall cost of oil will drop. Basically capitalism is a self leveling system and promotes entrepreneurism. No other system does. Likewise it also promotes efficiency and economy, by rewarding those who are more efficient or economical with greater profits.
Climate change (formerly global warming); it's like the game where you have a mallet and you try to keep up with the next pop-up.
Climate change belief given same legal status as religion
Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth sequel stresses spiritual argument on climate
As SQT pointed out – it's definitely a love/hate thing – they want it, but can't get it (for whatever reason) so they deride it. Sour grapes at its finest. And it is fed by Statists – socialists, fascists, communists, whatever you want to call them. They feed the "beast" that is envy (one of the 7 deadly sins, no?). As a group, Statists are like the minions of Satan (and I'm not even religious BTW, but the analogy seems to fit) – they are like the Father of Lies – spreading dissent, despair, etc., all to get what they want – power. People who live under such regimes often find themselves doing things they never thought they would ever do, all out of desperation, a lack of hope, a giving in to the more baser instincts.
CONT'D
It is probably the primary reason why our Founding Fathers believed that Judeo-Christian values were necessary for a free country to survive – because even if you are not traditionally religious, those teachings are important nonetheless, because they teach you to distrust statism because of how it feeds on sinful feelings like envy, because of how it feeds despair, how it divides and how in its godlessness it allows millions of people to be killed without batting an eye.
Years ago, I came up with the term "The Church of the Holy Smoke" to explain "environmentalism. (Blatant self promotion – you can Google the original – it's about six down on the page, and published by Rite-On) .
The article originally came about five or six years ago after I'd attended Easter services at my church. In the social hour, I encountered a fervent believer in Environmentalism, i.e. "The Church of the Holy Smoke". I tried to discuss rationally the possibility that the science had not been adequately investigated, but like any true believer, she wasn't having it. I gave up when I realized I'd have as much chance convincing her the at least question her beliefs as I'd have had convincing the priest in his robes to question (on Easter Sunday yet) the ascension of Christ. (I've since learned that Mars was heating up, too, thought t be secondary to increased solar activity.) Now Climategate is in the news — at least the news not controlled by propaganda media.
Climate Change (nee Global Warming) is not about weather or temperatures but rather an attack on the prosperity of the American middle class which is a poke in the eye to the rest of the world. Africans who don't have running water are naturally angry at Americans with three cars in the garage, one of them an SUV. Europeans hoofing it to work in the rain or waiting on the corner for a bus or trolley are incensed at the sight of eight across freeways of bumper to bumper cars. Why the hell can't Americans take mass transit like the rest of the world? Asian middle managers who rise an hour early to catch a crammed high speed train into the city are irked at the idea of factory workers owning a car. And we won't even discuss the Islamic Middle East who are struggling to keep their women in check only to see Madonna French kissing Brittany Spears. So it isn't about the climate or the planet, it's about us.
"The biggest single cause of reduced birth rates is prosperity, with no concerted effort whatever. "
Excellent point. Hasn't this been proven over and over again. Although I have no idea how to get those 3rd World countries to be prosperous. They seem to be self-destructive. And I don't think democracy and capitalism can be imposed from the outside. It has to come from within, which basically means waiting until some of the rest of the world wakes up and figures it out for themselves.
But it's a very good point you make and one that the Left will continue to ignore.
Apparently, abortions are easier.
The need for the stimulus package. The need for big business bailouts. That obama is smart. That michelle is a woman.
I still favour investing in renewable energy [oil isn't an infinite resource], plus we're somewhat ethically compromised by having to go cap in hand – as it were – to repressive regimes like Saudi Arabia. Increasing nuclear has the problem of more toxic waste [would you or I live next to a storage or recycling facility?]. I understand we've got potential in wind, solar and wave technology if we're careful.
Again, which scientists do we listen to? They've written themselves out of a job with climate-gate!
P.S. – I wouldn't start dancing on the grave of Global Warming just yet. Climategate might make some people take a second look at the data, but it won't shatter their emotional clinging to the Cause. It's part of their self-image: smart, well-informed, progressive people believe in AGW. And it fits in with their basic worldview: everything is wrong and we've got to make it right. I don't believe your average True Believer has informed himself about AGW any better than your average Denier. But he believes he has, and that's what's important to his ego. He won't let go of his Truth so easily.
In spite of what Nobel Peace Prize fraud, Al Gore, states, anyone who does not have direct knowledge and evidence of Global Warming, should now realize there has been a rush-to-judgment!
ANY POLITICIAN WHO CONTINUES TO PUSH THE GLOBAL WARMING AGENDA IS ABSOLUTELY CORRUPT and is most likely in the pocket of those who have financial interests. In short, FOLLOW THE MONEY!
Now that some of the data has clearly been altered to promote a scam, ANY SCIENTIST (OR SO-CALLED SCIENTIST) WHO CONTINUES TO INSIST THE DEBATE IS OVER IS ALSO CORRUPT and is in the pocket of corrupt politicians, those who have financial interests or is looking to belly up to the trough of taxpayer funding. Again, FOLLOW THE MONEY!
As for the rest of radical loons who continue to bray "Global Warming" to the world and shout insults at anyone who does not instantly adopt their lunacy, they are simply showing their ignorance and shame at having been so easily duped.

Sean: since you like that Kolakowski quote, you might enjoy reading some of the essays in his "Modernity on Endless Trial" – especially "The Revenge of the Sacred in Secular Culture" and "The Illusion of Demythologization." Kolakowski also wrote *THE* intellectual take-down, demolishing, ass-whooping of Marxism in "Main Currents of Marxism" (a mere 1200 pages).
The "Illusion" essay I mentioned above has this gem:
"After centuries of the growth of the Enlightenment, we suddenly woke up in a mental and cultural disarray; we are more and more frightened in the face of a world that is losing its religious legacy, and our fear is well justified. The lost myths seem to be replaced less by enlightened rationality and more by terrifying secular caricatures or substitutes . . . Intellectuals are helpless . . . And the attempt to endear oneself to the rationalist ideology by “demythologizing” Christianity is the least reliable prescription."

I didn't know Adam was such a good writer! Don't really care too much about the article itself but it was written well. Kudos…
I spent Thanksgiving with liberals. There was no mention of climategate. It wasn't even on their radar. Neither was Acorn, for that matter.
Liberals live in their own little world. I don't think they'll ever give up their belief in global warming.
I have to figure that when people like Jeanie Garafalo ( might be spelled wrong) , and Rosanne Barr open their toxic mouths, suddenly my ears turn to stone! Why on earth would anyone actually listen to Al Gore, or any of the idiots that are streaming out of Hollywood trying to jump on the 'global warming ' train??? They're elitist attitude of 'do as I say not as I do' is enough to make anyone gag!! Please Adam, can you come up with a list of anyone in Hollywood that actually loves their country???
They probably didn't want you to prove them wrong at the dinner table! LOL!!!
Has a Republican (Conservative ) ever won the Nobel Peach Prize???
The facts are locked away.
Why are they locked away? More'n likely, it's because they're inconvenient as hell.
BTW, cant remember where I saw this but I recently read that by 2020 or 2025 half of the Russian Army will be Muslim. Pretty sure it was in Mark Steyn's "America Alone".
I wouldn't be at all surprised by that news. While I have nothing against the Muslim population at large, it's the Islamofacists that worry me. I really do wonder what the world is going to be like when this becomes reality. Politics and worldwide attitudes and beliefs are going to be very, very different than they are today, that's a given. I don't know how it'll all play out. I'm pretty sure decreasing our population even further isn't the answer, though.
I miss Michael.
I think 'our' best strategy is to laugh uproariously at the "Deniers of the Hoax". Ridicule them for being so gullible and never pass up a chance to comment on the nice weather.
Where would anyone go for 'facts' that can't be had? What IS the temperature of Earth? That has not yet been defined, much less measured.
I just scrolled up and read all the comments relating to Bugs' original remarks.
Just reading them made me so proud. The visitors to this site (and to BigGovernment) are way ahead of the average, proving that Conservatives have the brainpower to do anything we want.
Your insightful comment is no exception. As for why 3rd world countries seem to be self-destructive: Some observers think the leaders and/or political systems are responsible.
You wrote, "Apparently, abortions are easier." You hit that nail right on the head. The Left is in love with the abortion option, as if no other option would ever suffice.
Thank you for replying.
This is what bothers me the most about Climategate… the chilling NON-relief that some are showing. If you told me my house was on fire, and I later found out you were mistaken, trust me, I would be extremely relieved.
But, forget the actual "scientists" involved, but consider the regular citizens who have been global warming alarmists… their religion has been exposed as a fraud. No one takes news of that lightly. No one wants to think they put all their hard work and smugness into something that turned out to be nothing.
That's half of it. The other half is the scary part: global warming was just a front. They actually weren't concerned for the environment (is there anyone who you could legitimately say is AGAINST the environment???), they just wanted justification to play social engineer.
But… they lost. Climategate really is a "mushroom cloud".
Green is the new Red
I hope the Hell they are right about Global Warming. Just like the picture shows in this article, It better FLOOD east & west coasts, to DROWN the IDIOTIC Liberals once and for all. (Enough of our kids in school being brainwashed by liberal nonsense)
NOW this is what Really is FUNNY… We can have a House Panel ready to investigate, 2 Party Crashers in a weeks time, but NO PANEL to investigate ACORN, THIS GLOBAL WARMing B.S., the Federal Reserve or where all this bailout money went (from Bush & OBumbo) and all the CORRUPT Politicians and Wallstreet, that caused this DEPRESSION the world is in.
I guess I can BEAT up every Liberal I see on the street now. It will take 3-4 months for the DA to file charges and all I will get out of it, is a little fine, like J-walking. JUST like what is happening with the SEIU case, at a Town Meeting. How about the Black Panthers. Obama probably invited them to the White House once or twice, with all the crooks that have shown up on the list that has visited the White House the past 10 months.
Maybe we should be Politically Correct and start calling Americans People's House in Washington, "The BLACK HOUSE", for what Obumbo is doing to our country and kissing asssk to dictators in the world, OUR White House is getting TRASHED.
I too decry the lack of the most basic of sciences being taught in schools. Unfortunately, the exposure of such a widespread and completely believed hoax will only further confuse those that don't have the basic understanding of how BIG the Earth is and how insignificant we are on it.
Six billion humans on earth is equivalent to six thousand ants on a cruise ship and they both have the same control over the climate as they do the steering.
Then why bother sending food to Africa, Asia, etc? Why bother fighting AIDS or sending assistance to places which have natural disasters.
I guess the best summation of your philosophy is in the timeless quote "If they die they should be quick about it, and decrease the surplus population." E. Scrooge

a clean environment, human rights for all, etc., etc., etc., are all luxuries afforded by a successful economy. capitalism is the ONLY system that harnesses man's innate inclination to help himself before others, which ultimately results in good for all. it's not the best system imaginable, it's only the best system that's actually possible.

Exactly my thoughts! While my own scientific education is spotty at best (Im more heavily educated in biology than chemistry or phhysics), it has been a major emphasis between my husband and I in teaching our daughter the importance of understanding the Scientific Method. We are homeschooling her because we feel she will never get that basic understanding in public school and because she wants to be a veterinarian, we know it will mean the difference between her and other students when taking those courses in college.
As I've mentioned in the past, the democratic party is not a cohesive political party with a few common causes they all rally behind. Instead they are a lose coalition of various factions who come together in order to create a voting block. They way the hold together is by ignoring all the glaring hypocrisies they have with each other.
What we're seeing is a stellar example of that in action.
Every faction in the left's coalition is going to look like idiots by ignoring what's going on with the eco-nut faction. So don't expect any one on the left to pay attention in the least to any of this. This is the dues they pay being modern liberals.
Agreed. We have just seen the 'whites of their eyes.'
Get 'em!
I have been looking high and low at the Alphabet Networks coverage of this. It is simply incredible that they just choose to ignore this story. Do you all see what we are talking about with liberal media bias now? Do you understand that your news is spoon fed to you now? This news is colassal in nature. Billions, no, Trillions of dollars have been spent on AGW, yet, the very foundation of the science that claims it to be man-made have been forged. DO NOT TRUST THE LIBERAL MEDIA, THEY DO NOT REPORT THE NEWS.

Smart idea.
Actually Y2K wasn't a hoax, that was real. I work in the computer/networking industry and we spent 3 years getting ready for that. It was a nail biter up until the end. The issue wasn't the computers we knew about. The issue was what ones have been running for so long, no one realized they were even there.
It all had to do with computer memory being extremely expensive up until around 1990. In order to save memory years were stored with their last two digits – 1999 was stored as 99. Well, 2000 is greater than 1999, but 99 is greater than 00.
I didn't have time to pay a whole lot of attention to how the public was handling it, but in the industry, we worked our butts off to make sure nothing happened.
Malthus is dead.

There you go with those pesky 'facts' again.
Bet you believe- water is wet.
Thanks for the varied perspectives, people. Forgive me if I'm skeptical about the entire "people aren't the problem" attitude. Maybe I'll be easier to convince when I no longer see people destroying forests and fields to build high-priced housing projects for which there seems to be no shortage of buyers (at least when the economy's not in the tank). Maybe it's my local perspective. I live in a fast-growing urban/suburban area. Local governments, businesses and especially real estate developers call it "growth;" I call it destruction. That's the east coast. I've also visited southern California and seen the same thing.
So is this destruction due to population increase or population mobility? Are more people being born who need houses to live in? Or are there fewer people but they all want newer, bigger houses farther from the city?
Reading the posts, on this site, encourages me to keep up the good fight.
Thanks all.
Nice article. I'm glad the good doctor Michael Crichton is not infected by this Anthropogenic Global Warming Virus. He is right in telling the students that environmentalism is a religion. Any decent human being value our environment, but to be hi-jacked by greedy politician and corporate elitist and turned it into pseudoscience and political agenda just for profit and control is just wrong.
The second quote makes me angry because now that the truth is coming out some people are less likely to recycle and conserve than if these "scientists" would have provided the real reasons it is a good idea to begin with.
I never believed in Global warming but I did feel it was important to conserve resources and care for the environment and did and still do what I can. Why do certain "intellectuals" feel it necessary to lie to the general populace to get them to do something responsible instead of telling them the truth and letting them choose their own course.
I want to hit them all over the head with my full recycling bin.
"Denier" was just a handy label, as was "True Believer." These are the terms in which the argument has been framed in the media and in blogs. The Believers believe they are the well-informed ones, the ones who have reviewed all the data carefully and come away convinced that the Global Warming disaster scenario is a fact. And, of course, that makes everyone else a "Denier of the Patently Obvious Truth." I'm saying I don't think they're as well-informed as they pretend to be. I'm saying they caught the AGW buzz in the media, heard that "An Inconvenient Truth" was required reading for Smart People, and jumped on the bandwagon. Basically, I'm saying AGW is a liberal fashion accessory.
Here's one you should really love.

Want to bet this professor wants to be the one to decide who lives in poverty (not him or his friends of course) and who dies at a given age? Funny how these "brilliant" scholars are all making these claims in countries with declining birth rates, but not in the third world cesspools where they breed like flies and die off as quickly from starvation and disease. Odds are if you look at the people whining about over population, you'll find the same people whining that we aren't doing enough to fight AIDS in third world countries. I would think that a child that is well nourished, well educated, and with proper motivation might just be a bit more likely to find solutions to environmental problems than a malnourished , uneducated street urchin from some third world cesspool.
In any experiment, the experimenter actually affects the results of the experiment. But usually in a "blind" sort of way…these fools actually believe this nonsense. I wonder, would they die off if they began thinking it affected them personally? Hmmmm….this is an experiment I can vote for.
It's a liberal FASCIST accessory. Far too many of the AGW believers are what have been referred to by at least on communist ideologue as "useful idiots". They think it's fashionable to be on the AGW band wagon. At least until it starts greatly impacting THEIR income. These Hollywood types need to pull their heads out of what we used to call "rectal defillade" when I was in the Army. How many multimillion dollar movie contracts do they think they're going to get when people have their living expenses quadruple from all of the taxes this administration intends to impose? If people can't afford to go to movies ($7 for a matinee, $10+ for a regular showing), the studios can't afford to make them. Then AGW won't be so fashionable in Hollyweird will it?
"….but, that's a book for conservative losers!" – whiny, smug "progressive", Lisa Simpson, from "The Simpsons" (a show for "progressives" that's gone on way past its "shelf life", like "M.A.S.H.")
He *wasn't* infected. He's kinda dead now. But he was right…
Yes, I guess it once was green. The climate has changed from that just like it has always changed. Yet, I think we are contributing to the rate of the current change.
>>No, it didn't. It's not even half used up. That's claptrap. <<
Perhaps, but the planet doesn't need our consuming it up. We have to think our own survival here.
>>Basically capitalism is a self leveling system and promotes entrepreneurism. No other system does. Likewise it also promotes efficiency and economy, by rewarding those who are more efficient or economical with greater profits.<<
I see Capitalism evolve towards big corporations that kill all the little enterprises. Eventually it'll start resembling totaliarism. What was the writer's strike all about again??
>>capitalism is the ONLY system that harnesses man's innate inclination to help himself before others, which ultimately results in good for all<<
Capitalism needs also regulation. Once it develops too high-numbered elite who are just using others for their greedy ends like many in Wall-Street, it'll start rotting inside. And the bubble bursts, just like we did see last year.
Amen to that!
>>A GOOD capitalist recognizes and utilizes the adage "waste not, want not."<<<
Unfortunately there are not enough good Capitalists. Human nature is not good.
><Lefties aren't interested in survival, only power. Capitalism takes away their ability to freeze the resources they wish to possess, because one day it might outgrow their need for THEM. <<
And the conservatives are not interested in power??
That idiot of which you speak is none other than Professor Paul Ehrlich. A friend, mentor and co-collaborator with…… Obama's science advisor John Holdren. Here's a little quote from the venerable Professor Ehrlich that some here will find interesting, if they understand the consequences of adhering to this philosophy are high prices, unemployment and essentially a reduced standard of living. Unless of course you are a professor who writes books about controlling population through means that would make Dr. Mengala (sp?) slaps his forehead and say "Why didn't I think of that?"

This is the great irony of socialist soceities. Raise the Tax rates so high that your birth rate falls, and then you must import worker's to keep the Ponzi scheme of socialist handouts from collapsing.
Bingo. How many times must we listen to these no-nothings babbling this Malthusian garbage.
Global Warming aka Climate Change is left wing fundamentalism, a brilliant observation by Crichton.
Population mobility.

Borrowing the joke that Irish men are just Scotsmen who knew how to swim, Colorado is getting a reputation as being Californians who could actually do the math. Keep in mind that the Golden state has a bigger illegal immigration problem than anyone else, with sanctuary cities set up to encourage it, and still leads the rest of the nation in population decline.
Take the map of populaton migration I linked to and stand it up to a map of blue states and red states. It's fun, and lends itself to discussions about ants and grasshoppers, but that's an economic topic, and we're talking environment. Something for another time….
I think it'll become a spectacle of lefty/lib whining and whaling and blaming. That is if the Ed Begley Jr. tirade the other day, is any indication.
The facts are that:
1. There are no global warming models that are predictive. That is, If I give you the data for 1920-50, can you tell me what the temprature will bein in the 1960's.
2. There was not complete satelite data for the Ocean's air surface tempratures until 2004. Ocean's comprise 80% of the Earth's surface. SITU data (ships in transit) from the 1940's forward, and ocean going vessels measuring sea temps (before 1940) contain giant gaps in Space and Time. Therefore, there is not a "temprature record" there is a reconstruction of derived tempratures from existing tempratures. The same applies to remote areas, such as the Artic, Alaska, Siberia, etc. This is why there isn't a temprature record, there are 5 different datasets often used.
3. The Earth is between 4-8 billion years old. The current climate era, the Holocene, is an "interglacial period". To look at an 8,000,000,000,000 year old planet with 100 years of speculative derived data and making a conclusion that you can be certain of (ala Al Gore), makes you something less than a scientist.
Actually my perspective is that the people who are claiming we need to reduce the overall population are the same ones saying we should save those in the countries that are reproducing more than they can support, while killing off those in the countries that are not.
If over population is the issue that they claim (I don't necessarily agree), why expend energy to kill off people who would not otherwise die, while expending energy to save those who would? It just seems hypocritical to me for them to scream that we need to reduce the population of the planet with one breath and that we have to save the people of the third world from dying from AIDS with the next. They're the ones talking out of both sides of their mouths. I'm just pointing it out.
I'm from Florida where millions of Beach Front condo's go unsold, I think it is time for a class action lawsuit against AL Gore and the Hadley CRU institute.
Ed Begley was a classic, text book example of changing the premise of the debate as a method for changing the subject.
The question was simple enough, what was his opinion of the content of the emails?
Begley's response, they mean nothing because they haven't been reviewed by the peer reviewers, who are plainly documented tying to prevent peer review of people who don't already agree with them.
By throwing a tirade and yelling things like 'don't listen to me, don't listen to the newscasters' he successfully goaded the questioner away from the original question, and into an emotional screaming match. Which is exactly where Begley wants the debate to go. Because when it comes to logical debate, they are at a disadvantage, but in an emotional screaming match, he's got the advantage.
The American Left's attempts to socially engineer the mortgage industry–not greed–led to last year's collapse.
You should go to the Huffington Post website. It's where idiots go to babble. You belong there.
Didnt say they weren't. I would just trust that conservatives understand where real power lay and not try to dictate who gets it and who doesnt. Read the Bill of Rights. There's your conservative power.
Capitalism evolves towards efficiency. Because of an economic fact (not theory) called economy of scale (the more of an item you produce, the less it costs to produce each one) large corporations tend to be more efficient that smaller ones. They have lower per item fixed overhead costs, they have the capital to buy more efficient equipment, and can expend the money needed for research and development. Small companies can't. When people talk about the huge profits that Exxon/Mobil are making I almost laugh at their ignorance. If we are supposed to applaud companies for cutting waste, why lambaste Exxon/Mobil for doing so? When each company was bringing in $3-4 Billion in profit, noone said a thing. When Exxon bought Mobil and reduced the overhead by eliminating redundant stations, redundant delivery routes, and redundant executives thereby saving billions, they drove up their combined profits. When you add $3 billion to $4 billion and eliminate $3billion in waste, you get $10 billion. Or about a 9% return on investment. Slightly less than the old EE series US Savings bonds.
Small enterprise will always exist for the same reason why GM and Chrysler got into trouble the last few years. Small enterprises can adapt more quickly to changing market conditions than large monoliths. I've seen what happens when large monoliths get some wrong headed individuals in upper management positions. I've managed stores for a number of retailers, and have seen COOs drive out good managers, and cause stock prices to fall from over $20 a share to a little over $2. Because she failed to understand the market for the store's product lines. I've seen corporate buyers decide that the products that sold well in fashion oriented urban markets place them in stores nationwide, while ignoring product that was a better quality and would still be in saleable throughout the chain in 12 months. A smaller local store or chain can respond to the fashion trends much more quickly and efficiently than the larger corporations. Capitalism rewards efficiency through economy of scale for large corporations and flexibility and adaptability for smaller ones. As long as each size knows it's place, both thrive.
I am also a software engineer.
Yes, the basic technology behind Y2K was real, the projected consequences were grossly exaggerated (much like Global Warming). The media was predicting that society was going to turn into something resembling 28 Days Later.
It got so bad that my father attended a "conference" that convinced him to stock up on water, flashlights and toilet paper. Needless to say, he had a lot of extra water and toilet paper in 2001.
The problem wasn't the people on Wall Street, it was the people in the government forcing banks to make loans to people who couldn't otherwise qualify. Research the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac hearings from earlier this decade. The upper level execs (Franklin Raines (who had to repay over $25 million dollars in unearned bonuses and fines to avoid criminal prosecution, but still got to keep the other $70+ million that he stole) Jaime Gorelick, and Jim Johnson) were buying loans to increase the corporate portfolio and thereby their bonuses, without any underwriting. They then bundled the loans (many of which were subprime, some in default) into securities and sold them as A rated bonds when they were junk. They sold the bonds to the investment houses that then added them to their portfolios. This caused the investment houses to look far more solvent than they really were. When the Bush administration tried to regulate the practice in 2003 and 2005, the Dems in Congress screamed bloody murder.
I remember the weeks leading up to it. The IBM AIX support center was issuing fix patches daily. We had to upgrade some servers over a dozen times.
My main concern was routers and other network devices that were deployed, and their support teams were disbanded or laid off, and so they were never documented or the documentation was lost – or destroyed.
We could handle the ones we knew about, but I didn't have a lot of confidence we knew everything we had to cover. My main job was creating Notes databases that were flexible enough to allow us to change what we needed to track on any given moment, for any given reason.
One day we're worried about the level of the OS. 3 or 4 days later, we're getting alerts on BIOS levels. A week later its the version of TCP/IP on them. We did that for about 6 months, with the real pressure coming up in the final two weeks.
What concerned me was a scenario like, suppose a network tying the computers of a power generation station had an old PS/2 tucked away in some corner, long forgotten, and it stops. How long before they even find it?
So we did have some water jugs and batteries on hand, just in case. It also cost me a day of vacation, every team considered relevant had all time off canceled. On the upside I got a nifty blue glass globe paper weight that said IBM on it.
Yes, but power that promotes freedom to excel is not the same as a desire for the power to enslave.
There is a difference between economic enslavement and governmental enslavement. You can always quit your job, and your employer or creditors can not imprison or shoot you. Try not paying your taxes or obeying some other law and resisting being arrested for failing to do so. That is the insidiousness of this healthcare debacle being rammed down our throats. They are going to TAX anyone who doesn't buy insurance that they approve of, and jail those who refuse to pay the tax. There is one truth in government that noone seems to understand. That being that government always reserves the ability to use force to impose its will.
"Colorado is getting a reputation as being Californians who could actually do the math"
Hmmm. I don't know. It seems to me that the Californication of the Southwest, and New Hampshire's invasion by Massholes, and Northern Virginia's transformation into Southern DC, are an indication that liberals are like plague rats: when the host population starts to die, they abandon ship and spread the pestilence to an unifected community.
Global warming and Obama; two frauds exposed in 2009
However, this is progress. Don't expect to see it from the media and politicians and celebutards, etc. However, the CRU files are having a *profound* impact in the scientific and IT communities: all those working academics who heretofore went along with AGW on trust: they had faith that their fellow-scientists were honest, and the system would catch any errors.
This has been a great, big alarm clock. Scientists around the world know research fraud and peer-jacking when they see it, and programmers can recognize kluged black-box code.
Stand by.
The powers that be KNOW that that can be arranged. That's why the UN that is so actively and adamently pushing the AGW agenda to impoverish the industrialized world is equally as adamently trying to disarm the citizenry of those countries that still allow the private ownership of weapons. The Obama administration has said it won't seek new gun control legislation, but it is seeking to sign treaties that would have the same or worse effect if ratified. If this administration isn't concerned about an armed revolt, it had better wake up. There were over a million angry citizens in DC on 9/12. If 1% of them had decided to storm the Capital and White House, there would've been absolutely NOTHING that DC Police, Capital Police or the Secret Service could've done to keep them from stringing up the entire lot of them. Rule one of governance. Those who govern do so at the pleasure of the governed.
no one, save an anarchist, would argue that capitalism doesn't need some rules to live by. in fact, one of the most important purposes of the courts is to enforce the contracts necessary to the (relatively) smooth operation of business relationships.
by the same token, some of the worst problems blamed on the 'evils of capitalism' have their roots in govt trying to skew markets in favor of one party over another.
"Global warming" and "climate change" represent only part of the matrix that seeks to control us all, but things are about to change for the better. See http://zedek.us/?page_id=386
What we need is a legislature with some stones and a backbone to resist funding boondoggles of any kind. Real research into fundamental sciences and material research that benefits industry and everyone can be tested before voted on for funding.
Other areas of public funding can be tested with this simple question as well. Does this inhibit or encourage the liberty of Americans?
Period… That question guided with the Constitutional answer makes being a good representative statesman easy and any citizen with a brain can do it.
Anything else leads to Tyranny.
yup. A criminal usurptation of private business, a text book definition of socialism.
I was in Austin for Y2K, land of the tech-heads and it (Y2K) purred by like nothing ever happened – the freaks in the bar I was at were still freaks in the bar I was at; it was just the next day. Very anti-climatic.
LOL! Dang God is ACCURATE!
I'm in!
To my way of thinking, Copenhagen could be Obama's Waterloo. If he ignores Climategate and goes forward with his pledge to pull back co2 emmissions 17%, he will show himself to be clueless, a man with an agenda to hurt the USA,unflexible or all the above. He should be calling for an investigation of the highest order and a postposement of Copenhagen until it is completed, instead he has no comment and his spokesperson Carole Browner has poo pooed it.
We knew at some point that the democrat party's scam of "global warming" would be exposed. It's actually quite comical how these libtards twitch and scream that "global warming is real!" even after their lie has come to light. As these same libtards try to equate their enviro-movement to some sort of "religion", they seem to ignore the fact that is was Jesus Christ who told us that "the truth will set you free". The enviro-religion seems to consistently ask the question, "Truth? What is truth?"
As for Pres. Opompous, he just continues to look like an ass on a daily basis.
A GOOD capitalist recognizes and utilizes the adage "waste not, want not." Capitalism provides the freedom to created those things that will be inherently conservative (and I mean that in the sense of conservation of resources), whereas Statism fossilizes systems that MUST grow and change in order to survive. Lefties aren't interested in survival, only power. Capitalism takes away their ability to freeze the resources they wish to possess, because one day it might outgrow their need for THEM.
Thank you for exposing the "Religious Left" because there is nothing but a deathly silence in the media.
Lt_Scrounge — That was an excellent explanation of this commonsense economic system we call Capitalism. It works like a charm, too, if you can stop people from tinkering with it.
And…the fact that we're using the word "believe" so much indicates to me that the actual science went bye-bye a long time ago. We're now going on blind faith and (some of us) common sense. Wish us luck…
For what it's worth, I'm a Denier – or at least a semi-Denier. I know the Earth's average temperature is increasing by a miniscule amount each year. However, I don't know (and neither does anyone else) whether this is caused exclusively by human activity or is just part of a series of natural climate changes. I also don't know (and neither does anyone else) what the "normal" temperature of the Earth's atmosphere is supposed to be. (Maybe it's been too damn cold for many years and the temp is now correcting itself.) I also don't know (and neither does anyone else) whether the warming trend will continue indefinitely, level off, or reverse itself. And finally, I don't know (and neither does anyone else) whether the warming will cause the ecological disaster some AGW proponents are predicting – the Secular Humanist Apocalypse.
I fell the same way but I pray to God (not mother earth ) that common sense will break out .unfortunatly our population has been dumbing itself down for decades regardless of jeffersons warnings about ignorance and freedom being incompatible
Hell, while we're at it; What is the IDEAL temperature of the Earth?
'Yet, I BELIEVE we are contributing to the rate of the current change.'
There fixed that for ya.
In fact less than a year before Franklin Raines was forced out as head of Fannie Mae and made to repay over $25 million dollars, Congressman Maxine Waters got up and attacked Ken Starr over the outcome of his investigation of Fannie Mae calling Starr a racist and proclaiming that Franklin Raines was doing an "outstanding" job leading Fannie Mae. Likewise the very same Bawney Fwank who is now lambasting the government for not regulating Fannie and Freddie more closely commented on the report that he saw nothing in it that lead him to believe that Fannie or Freddie were not fiscally sound. Does anyone think his romantic involvement with one of the former executives at Freddie Mac may have clouded his judgement? This is the man who is now in charge of regulating banking in the House.
You mean the CRU emails and datafiles? Yep. In my professional opinion, grounds for criminal indictments.
Here's a LONG list of scientific organizations that think global warming is a real problem:
http://logicalscience.com/consensus/consensusD1.h...
Are they all members of an "irrational cult"? That's a pretty bizarre view of the world IMHO.
I have no problem with being skeptical, but you guys are true believers, you are 100% convinced it's false, that is not free thinking but a knee jerk reaction.
Michael Crichton debated a scientist about global warming at the skeptics club at Caltech a couple years ago, and I believe the audience verdict was not in his favor.
Condoms & Get Tested.
Those are billboards splattered all around Hollywood amidst High Schools. As if condoms & getting tested will stop a deadly horrifying tortorus family destorying virus.
Nothing about abstinence, monogamy, fidelity, marriage.
And one noted, "no judgemental bullshit" so its worse to judge than to live a lifestyle that can get you the most horrifying disease known to man.
The true source of the dumbing down of this country is the NEA and the educational establishment. Look at how vociferously they fight against standardized testing to determine student performance. Look at how they promote what they very inaccurately call "outcome based education" which has far less to do with educational outcome and more to do with allowing kids to learn to embrace mediocrity or worse, being required to function at the level of the lowest common denominator. Which is a math term that I would almost bet 50% of the public high school students in this country can't define or use. I've had this argument with friends who are teachers. They can't give a good answer as to why it's better for an 18 yr old to have a good self image and no usable skills versus usable skills and a bruised ego. An 18 yr old with no skills and a big ego has the attitude that the world owes them something without having to earn it. Sounds like the basis for a criminal career doesn't it?
O is Christian.
Mercury light bulbs are more ecologically sound than regular incandescent bulbs.

Huzzah!!
Agreed!

It never ceases to amaze me just how intelligent Adam Baldwin is. I first noticed it while watching a commentary he was in from an episode of Angel, and every time I read his articles they're always really good.
Great post Adam,
Logically it would be assumed that environmentalists would be jumping for joy at the lack of scientific evidence shown by the hacked emails. However, as Benjamin Franklin said, "You cannot reason a man out of a position he has not reasoned himself into."
Which brings me to…..how in the world do you deal with someone who is illogical? Mainstream media being the biggest unreasonable group out there. Start our own, "religion"?
Time for a new book, Rules For Rebels- Conservative Edition and AB you would be a great teacher. I for one have no idea how to deal with the craziness extreme liberals and this administration bring. Not hearing a peep from the media or the administration about the CRU emails is just one example of that craziness. Just one of many.
See what you did there?
You irrationally, fallaciously at least, mischaracterized what the author actually wrote, which was: "the irrational cult of indiscriminate environmentalism…"
Shame on you.
>>In response to the good news that anthropogenic ‘global climate change’ has now, at long last, been irrefutably exposed by the infamous CRU emails as a gigantic hoax and fraud — shouldn’t Green Freaks be happy, or at least somewhat relieved for earth’s sake? <<
I just read a sarcastic article in my own language that laughs at people who believe more in a couple of emails than many scientists in the world.
Your belief in hoaxes and fraud is astonishing.
>>Because of an economic fact (not theory) called economy of scale (the more of an item you produce, the less it costs to produce each one) large corporations tend to be more efficient that smaller ones<<
That's true. Yet, it's one of Capitalism's pitfalls. Large corporations tend to start treating their workers badly in the form of low wages, since they can afford that. Their workers are expendable.
One leaves, another one comes in who stands being paid less.
>>When you add $3 billion to $4 billion and eliminate $3billion in waste, you get $10 billion.<<
I think you get only $4 billion.3+4 is seven and eliminating 3 from seven, what do you get?
>>That was an excellent explanation of this commonsense economic system we call Capitalism. It works like a charm, too, if you can stop people from tinkering with it. <<
In closer look, Capitalism is not commonsense at all. And his answer didn't seem quite sensible to me.
"One can perhaps muster some sympathy for ignorant useful idiot global warm-mongers that were simply acting with misguided ‘good-intentions’ and are now suffering the anguish of losing their religion."
You seem to have this need to talk negatively and put others down. Why is that?
And you believe vice versa. If you haven't noticed, the world is all about believing in a thing or another.
Complete 100% accurate answers don't exist. Read some philosophy and you'll see.
What if we're all in the Matrix?
On the topic of wages, wages are a function of the market. Don't believe me? Look at what professional athletes, and top models and actors get paid. As long as the economy is robust, and there is no pool of illegal labor to draw from wages go up. When the economy is slow and unemployment is high, wages adjust to fit the market. It's the law of supply and demand.
On the topic of $3b pls $4b equalling seven. That part if correct. However eliminating waste $3b in waste doesn't decrease the $7b it INCREASES the $7b to $10B. Look at it this way. If you and a friend decided to share an apartment, you'd have two incomes to pay the rent, and utilities. Right? Since you'd also only have rent and utilities for 1 apartment instead of two, you'd save the cost of the rent and utilities from the second apartment. Right? That's all the merger of Exxon/Mobil did. They got rid of duplicates as much as possible thereby not only combining their profits but also reducing their overall overhead expenses.
So would you rather have a system where your wages are set by the government versus being as much as you can get someone to pay you? I don't think the players in the NFL will go for that do you?Government mandated minimum wages drive up unemployment and government mandated maximum wages will lead to top talent leaving the country for higher paying jobs overseas. I recently read a magazine article encouraging business and engineering students to look for jobs in Brazil, India, and China since they are growing economies. Is that preferable to the current system? While some regulation to prevent fraud is necessary, far too much regulation is putting people out of business. One restaurant owner closed his doors because the cost of modifying his historic building to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements was prohibitively expensive. The day he was scheduled to open, a wheelchair activist and a scum bag attorney were wating at the 2 steps at the front of the restaurant's patio.
Well, so what have we here? A capitalism denier, it looks like.
Lemme 'splain sump'n to ya, bud: When we take the government back, all who don't enthusiastically agree with us will be called deniers and sent to re-education camps.
Wait, sorry, that's the Left's methods. No, I lied. When we take the government back, you'll have every right to your messed-up opinions. It's what we stand for, freedom of the individual citizen.
Or we can simply force it to go back to the Constitutional republic that it was founded as instead of the socialist autocracy that it is becoming. You can't argue the benefits of socialism with me. My liberal poli sci professors gave up on that half way through my freshman year. One of my favorite political theory professors did make a comment that I still find enlightening. He said "Yes, I used to be a communist. Until I realized it doesn't work."
BTW didn't we have a bunch of lberals promise to leave if George Bush won in 2004? Of course it was like every other liberal/socialisy/communist promise, it was a lie. BTW if you don't like the patriot act, take a good long look at the unconstitutional national security force that is being funded under the give act. Anyone with any interest in 1930s German history and psychology will see some very eerie similarities to the SS or Gestapo.

He is implying that believers in global warming are members of said cult. I'm not mischaracterizing it .
"Yes, but power that promotes freedom to excel is not the same as a desire for the power to enslave."
And conservatives also promoted great deal of this freedom by producing Patriot Act during the Bush administration.
One can not live in a society without a job, unless they want to put themselves at the mercies of charities. One is also dependent on the economic system to provide food and other necessary items for living.
If you're not happy with one government, you can always leave the country!!!
yes i agree the scary part is having two kids in school. I am thankful I was at least taught true american history and exceptionalism in school so i can at least pass it on to my kids. i also insist they not be excited over awards for just showing up, winning teaches us some but losing can teach us more if we are open minded and driven to succeed, nice to chat with people of similar thought.
Your bizarre view of the world is at work again.
He actually wrote:
"Within the irrational cult of indiscriminate environmentalism, statists found perfect surrogate-mascots for their failed revolution: animals, plants, rocks, water, even the very air we all breathe."
Your ridiculously fallacious (irrational) mischaracterization overstates: "Are they all members of an 'irrational cult'?
Lame.
Excellent post, this subject is in need of much snark.
I especially like the way you put this:
"irrational cult of indiscriminate environmentalism"
And why exactly do you believe right wing opinion writers before you believe NASA?
The sky is blue…
Maybe because they haven't been lying and excluding dissenters as a matter of policy?
Here's the thing: Unfortunately, it's going to take a looooong time for this scam to die. Why? It's being taught as gospel in schools. I was in high school in the early '90s and it was being rammed down my throat full force then, so you can just imagine the damage– an entire generation spoon fed this hysteria. I teach college and am forever subjected to papers freaking out over this crap. It's going to take forever for this to trickle into the schools, if if EVER does. Academia, after all, still teaches Communism as the way to go. Even NASA lends credence to it. Hopefully this will be scotched from science textbooks soon, but I doubt it.

I'm tired of this debate. People on both sides are extremists, regardless of what the 'facts' are. Slandering people who believe in Global Warming is about as ignorant as this scare-tactic drama you suppose. Regardless of whether or not global warming exists, why is energy efficiency and discouraging needless pollution a bad thing? As some one with children, your bigotry is really quite alarming. The aggression, name-calling and skewering you do to 'green freaks', 'warm-mongers' and various other mean-spirited liberal nick-names is only adding to the tension you assert is fabricated. It's not just fabricated anymore if people buy into it, which is clearly what you're doing.
I'm a fan of a lot of your acting work, sir, but your political bullshit is such a turn-off. Leave the pundits to their jobs and do your own, since at least they can string together sentences that make more sense than some one who appears to read a thesaurus in his spare time. I believe you once said that actors who cross over into the music industry have no business doing such and I suggest the same here — you have no business touting politics and scholarly information that you clearly don't understand.
"On the topic of wages, wages are a function of the market."
Yes, I think they are. However, who decides what jobs are more valuable than others? How is that decided? I think we could modify that a bit. Why don't the writers get enough pay and actors sometimes get even too much for their roles?
Eliminating $3 billion as waste in what way?
What does this renting thing have to do with this?
"So would you rather have a system where your wages are set by the government versus being as much as you can get someone to pay you?"
No. I wish people's attitudes towards some professions changed. And cleaning ladies etc. would get better paid.
"Government mandated minimum wages drive up unemployment and government mandated maximum wages will lead to top talent leaving the country for higher paying jobs overseas."
I'm for minimum wage, not necessarily for the maximum wage. And it's essential that there's a minimum wage. It's part of human rights to get paid enough in your job. Enough for some kind of livelihood.
"One restaurant owner closed his doors because the cost of modifying his historic building to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements was prohibitively expensive. The day he was scheduled to open, a wheelchair activist and a scum bag attorney were wating at the 2 steps at the front of the restaurant's patio."
"the wheelchair" people also have their rights.
"Well, so what have we here? A capitalism denier, it looks like."
;.-D What you have here is a non-American.
I live in a mixed economy, in a social democratic society. Yet, I can still call myself social capitalist.
And, by the way, there's freedom of speech here too. Quite a lot of freedom here as well.
"by the same token, some of the worst problems blamed on the 'evils of capitalism' have their roots in govt trying to skew markets in favor of one party over another. "
I've seen a couple of documentaries explaining why the free market policies of the FED and greedy Wall Street people led the U.S to this burst of the economy bubble. And too much freedom in lending policies. Lending to people who obviously can't pay is not wise.
"He said "Yes, I used to be a communist. Until I realized it doesn't work."
And I agree with him. You must understand that mixed economy, social capitalism is not communism in any way. Communism is an idea that relies too much on the innate goodness of man and his willingness to work of the benefit of a community. That's not correct interpretation of the real human nature. Capitalism fits to human nature much better since it's individualistic. However, this individualism becomes a destructing force if given too much free reins. Regulation by some installment is a must. And that installment happens to be called government.
There allways have to be some form of government over the people. I rather be governed over by a country's government than some big corporations board and bosses whose only interest is to sell something to me. At least country governments are expected to have some principles and law to follow.
>Clearly an un-scientific magazine, mean-spirited too. <
The online mag. was an equivalent of your MAD. It wasn't even trying to be "scientific".
Climate change is happening. I see it's in the interest of the big corporations to say it doesn't exist.
"I'm tired of this debate. People on both sides are extremists, regardless of what the 'facts' are. I fully agree. Some sense here. And it's not just Adam to blame, he's just subscribing to this negative "debate culture" encouraged by quite many..
Thanks, will check your site next week. Sounds great. You might post a separate comment including the link for others too, and if you want, ask for readers to submit Quotes from those who need to be brought before Hearings to explain their position that the scientific proof about Global Warming isn't important but the crisis it creates is useful… Hopefully the list could be provided to Senate committee that investigates the deceitful emails.
Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has said that there may or may not be hearings, but that the real investigation needs to be into the criminals who hacked the system and released the information to the press. She has no intention whatsoever of allowing the FACTS to derail any form of government destruction of the energy and economic base of this country. A person one group I belong to even speculated that these CORRUPT politicians have been promised some form of feudal fiefdom if they push through cap and trade and ratify the Copenhagan Treaty. One does have to wonder why 280 people think it is in their best interest to push through regulations that will leave tens of millions jobless and homeless. Perhaps they didn't get the message that the feces is about to hit the ventilator from the crowds that were there on 9/12. If they really believe the reports that only a few thousand showed up, they had better look at those aerial photos again. When Pennsylvania Ave is wall to wall people for over a mile, and the entire mall is wall to wall people, THAT is more than a few thousand people.
Who decides what a job is worth? The value of a person's labors is determined by how many people in the market are available and capable of doing that job. Just like any other commodity. The scarcety of the commodity determines its value. Would you go to work for the person who offered you the least or the one who offered you the most for the same work? The value of a job is whatever someone is willing to pay to get that particular person to perform it.
They eliminated the waste by eliminating the duplicate operations. Instead of paying for rent on two office building complexes, by consolidating headquarters in one location they were able to reduce rent, utilities and staffing. By eliminating unprofitable or duplicate service stations, they were able to reduce rent, salaries, utilities and delivery costs by only having to run one delivery truck instead of two. What many liberals fail to understand, or were taught incorrectly, is that businesses are not in business to provide jobs. They are in business to provide goods and services to customers for less than they cost the business to provide with the difference being the return on the investment of the owners. Profit is not a dirty word, it is the very life blood of any business. Without profit, no business will be able to keep its doors open for very long, nor will you find many investors willing to spend their hard earned money to invest in those that don't.
The rent example was an analogy on a micro scale of what Exxon/Mobil did to reduce expenses and increase the return on investment to their investors (over 65% of which are pension plans or 401ks)
Wrong, First off this is NOT a social Democratic country. This is a REPUBLIC. Not a democracy. Mixed economies are nothing more than socialism light, with the socialists doing everything that they can to destroy the economy and claim the capitalists are at fault. Economic theory is obviously not your forte Blue Sky. Leave it to those of us who have a clue and can make a cogent well reasoned argument.
If you want to pay a cleaning lady more, you have the right to do that. The people in wheelchairs do not have the right to force a person out of business because it is economically impossible for him to demolish a portion of his restaurant to build them a ramp. The alternative would've been for him to raise the price of meals at his restaurants to the other customers to pay for it. I take it that you think that is fair? To cause a business to incur a $50,000 expense to accomodate less than $1,000 a year worth of business. I find it funny how the same people who will argue that business owners have no rights as to who they will accomodate, also argue that business owners have the right to tell people with concealed carry permits that they may not bring a firearm onto their property.
Yes, but did you see anything listing how the banks were forced by the government to give loans to people who couldn't afford them? Probably not, but that is what happened. Were you aware that about 4 years ago Freddie Mac advised lenders to give mortgages to ILLEGAL ALIENS (who can't even work in this country legally), saying that illegal aliens were an underserved segment of the market? Probably not. Did you happen to see how the people who precipitated this mess were actually political appointees Franklin Raines, Jaime Gorelick, and Jim Jones who bought bad mortgages, securitized them, and then sold them as A rated bonds in order to pump up their Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac Bonuses? Did it tell how the Bush administration tried to stop the practice only to have Maxine Waters, Bawney Fwanks, and Chris Dodd in the House and Senate stop the legislation to regulate FNMA and FHLMC to prevent them from doing it? ON two separate occasions?
Did it tell how an independent audit of Fannie Mae's books came back that the accounting used to calculate bonuses bordered on fraud? Or did it just have a lot of speculation as to the cause. Yes there was a lot of speculation on Wall Street. There's always a lot of speculation on Wall street. What caused this mess was thay the speculators were sold junk bonds by the heads of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under the assumption that they were government backed securities when they weren't. If Franklin Raines was the "outstanding leader" of Fannie Mae that Maxine Waters (D-CA) proclaimed him to be, why did he have to repay $25 MILLION dollars in unearned bonuses and penalties to avoid prosecution?
Maybe a global warming of Boxer's email box from individuals in many interested groups, globally, could help her understand the concept of a two-edged sword when one threatens an attack, and the consequences:
1) Does she understand the term Global? Does she understand that she is boldly standing to start World War III? Does she understand that her planned attack on the person(s) who enabled Americans and the people of all nations to know that they are undeniably being intentionally deceived by climate scientists who are manipulating data, will bring a huge force of defense for those she plans to attack, that will overwhelm her like every nation heading to the Kidron Valley?
2) If she is smart enough to retreat from her threatened attack (whether directly herself or through others), how will she, in her committee position in the United States Senate, advise those who "hired" her that they have been lied to by climate scientists… and how would she plan to be able to do that without knowing the facts revealed in those scientists' correspondence without the exposure of that correspondence to the world? Otherwise, would she intend to continue sharing in and promoting that deceit to her bosses?
3) The world is now, globally, focused on her next action whether openly or covertly, and it is prepared to respond.
You're absolutely right Stephanie. It needs to be about what's good for the people. That's why the global warming alarmists have to be stopped from passing any form of cap and trade BS carbon tax scheme. Losing millions of jobs, run away inflation, and throwing billions of tax dollars down a rat hole on pseudo science with conclusions based on falsified data that doesn't hold up to close examination can not possibly be good for the people, can it? So why are politicians in Washington intent on passing legislation that will have exactly those results? I'm not against sensible voluntary conservation. I'm against ludicrous legislation that will cause businesses to close, The historical record shows that the planet has been substantially warmer in the past than it is now. There weren't any catastrophic effects from it. Scientific research (that doesn't have manipulated or corrupted data or tainted methodology) shows that CO2 levels are not anywhere near historic highs and that elevated CO2 levels generally FOLLOW temperature increases, not proceed them. This is truly undeniable, undoctored science. This is what government policy is supposed to be based on, not something with cooked books.
It won't matter. A solid inundation of her office and committe hearing room of real honest to God bodies might. I could make a suggestion as to how we could help her reduce global warming by encouraging her and her ilk to assume a neutral carbon footprint via elimination of personal CO2 output and attainment of environment/body temperature equilibrium but someone in the government might actually understand what I mean. Then again they believe in man made global warming so the use of actual scientific terms is probably beyond them. LOL BTW if you need a good laugh, go to Youtube and search for M4GW (Minnesotans for Global Warming) and watch their "Hide the Decline video. It's hysterical. So are the Media Reseach Center's "NewsBusted" videos.
If you are being truthful when you project: "I'm tired of this debate" – yet you tire yourself out further in "debate" here…
Then your participation becomes, in and of itself, ridiculous, irrational and hypocritical. (but apparently not tiring).
Nah, you're just sad that Algore et ilk have been exposed as hucksters and your in denial that you bought their decomposing snake oil.
Btw, "Green Freak" is a self-description from a self-admitted "Green Freak".
Warm-mongers are, as warm-mongers do…
IOW, "the debate is over"?
LOL!
I agree — the 'debate culture' just exacerbates disagreements to the point that it's all name-flinging and conspiracy theories. It needs to be about what's good for the people, not about who's wronger than who.
I just scanned a website that i had not seen before. http://survivingscrounge.com – it is fantastic and I plan to spend more time reading the many categories of survival guides for a lot of situations.
It is by a person posting on this article, Lt_Scrounge. Really recommend it to everyone to read, it is of great value and importance to all of us. Salute to you, Lt_Scrounge for the excellent advice and guidance in preparing Americans for all sorts of survival methods in all kinds of challenges!!!!
"The historical record shows that the planet has been substantially warmer in the past than it is now. There weren't any catastrophic effects from it."
The historical records show that this planet has sometimes been dangerous for its inhabitants when its in a high volcanic season. I am fully aware that the natural cycles of nature can sometimes be really devastating to human race, or even wipe us out completely, like supervolcano explosions or asteroid impact etc.
I'm for stopping the pollution, that's why I'm for climate change taxes etc measures to try to restrict our consuming up the planet.
Say what you say, but blaming the government for everything is plainly too simple.
Yes-
It was and always has been about the Power, Control, and of course….Money (the 'other' green stuff-that they REALLY care about!).
If you think not…..check it out in their own words on their own copenhagen climate web site:
1. How much are the industrialized countries willing to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases?
2. How much are major developing countries such as China and India willing to do to limit the growth of their emissions?
3. How is the help needed by developing countries to engage in reducing their emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change going to be financed?
4. How is that money going to be managed? (bells and whistles inserted here please!!!)
“If Copenhagen can deliver on those four points I’d be happy,” says Yvo de Boer.

One world governance via enviromental controls—the ultimate wealth redistribution center!
Declaring the 'debate OVER' and making sweeping statements such as: 'as we all know' & 'it is for the good of_______ (fill in your own answer)' are all liberal giant brush strokes so that they don;t actually have to drill down on any or those pesky things…like facts, data, etc…. Or better yet-allowing individuals to make their OWN informed decissions and trust that through their freedom of choice—the correct behavior will occure…..
But we know that liberal 'choice' is unsually a choice of 1 and nothing else is acceptable.
We have the technology-apparently we don't have the will power.

I hope the climate change prophets for profits are enjoying the temps sweeping the nation this January. If these guys were even a little bit intelligent, wouldn't they have their conferences in Phoenix in August instead of in Copenhagen in December?
