NEA Call Not Meant to ‘Promote Any Legislative Agenda’?

Reiterating the NEA’s denial about the purpose of the notorious August 10, 2009 teleconference, Chairman Rocco Landesman doubled-down Tuesday:
“Fact 3: ‘This call was not a means to promote any legislative agenda and any suggestions to that end are simply false.”
Two weeks ago, the NEA’s initial denial stated:
“This call was not a means to promote any legislative agenda and any suggestions to that end are simply false.“
The White House issued its denial on September 9:
“the Aug. 10 teleconference ‘was not meant to promote any legislative agenda.”
Utterly consistent messaging, one must agree.
However, prior inconsistencies matter. Buffy Wicks’ clearly stated on the August 10th call:
“I’m at the Office of Public Engagement here at the White House… we work under Valerie Jarrett, she’s one of our fantastic leaders and Tina Tchen… I’m actually in the White House and working towards furthering this agenda, this very aggressive agenda… we need you, and we’re going to need your help, and we’re going to come at you with some specific asks here…”
Ms. Wicks closed:
“We need your guys’ help to promote this. We know that you all have channels and ability to get the message out far greater than we do here and the president’s put out the call… we know that you all are very powerful voices of change in your own right, and we’re looking to you for your help on that.”
Therefore, how can it be true that the conference call was not in fact meant to “Promote any legislative agenda,” as the NEA and the White House collectively assert?
Does the phrase “promote any legislative agenda” have any legal origins or ramifications that would explain its implication?
What significance might dwell in the phrase’s ostensibly well-coordinated use?

In the never ending world of legal double speak the statement might be technically true as no specifc legislation was quoted. Simply refering to Healthcare or Environmental Policies etc that do not mention the specific legilation by the HR# or title of the bill in question might meet the legal definition. This however defies common sense. The entire legal foundation is built on what a reasonable man or woman would percieve or react to a situation. It does not matter if they are somehow covered by parsing of words, a reasonable man or woman could only come away with one conclusion, a government official was directing the artists to produce art in support of Obama's agenda.

They got caught with Van Jones. They got caught with this. All this and it's only nine months into this obamanation of an administration. They are either the dumbest bunch of idiots on the planet or they think the citizens of the United States are too dumb and ignorant to question this. I can not wait for this vile bunch of un-American scum to be booted out the door. The White House will need a thorough disinfecting once they are gone.
Where is Joe Wilson when you need him? How do reporters not laugh in this guy's face? What if I was stopped by police for blowing through a stop sign? Oh officer, that stop sign doesn't mean stop. It's just there to provide color and character to the road! I don't know how this guy can say that with a straight face.
Other than insulting hard working prostitutes, I think the term fits nicely.
In my opinion, they're counting on their own supporters to pay no attention, and they really don't care what their opponents say, think or do. Chicago Politics.
Cram enough ballots to get power, then do what ever they want. All they need is the votes in the box, in November.

I am starting to think that the admin's game is to throw so much B.S. at us all, and by doing that, know that some of it is going to get passed our tired overworked and overheating B.S. meters. My BS meter is on it's 4th battery pack.
Since the NEA, according to its Chairman, has a committment to remain aloof from any attempts to tie grant money to artists' support of the Administration, let's test that. I'd like to propose 2 projects: the first is titled "P1$$ One" (the Hope/Change icon immersed in, shall we say, "organic" fluids); the second is a portrait of the First Lady created in another organic medium, Donkey dung. These projects, if approved for NEA grant money, will prove that cutting edge "artists" have the organization's support, regardless of political leanings.
My problem is that I have no "artistic" talent in these media, other than (re: the first) an ability to write my name in the snow. Any volunteers?
Well if they can take down ACORN and it looks like they will then the "votes' issue won't be too big a deal. I don't think the left is nearly as powerful as others do but then I also see a lot of people getting an education in just how they have been used and abused and they are unhappy. Maybe I am wrong dunno but I don't think the "votes" thing will be a very big issue in the next election. Which is why now Obama is begging for amnesty. The ACORN connection is being pulled out from under him and maybe the Union connection will be to.
ACORN may be done for as an organization, but all they'll do is close their doors for a week, then put up new signs with a different name, and then back to business as usual.
Like your description of this mess. Van Jones is a win, Obama changing the tenor of his speech to the school children is a win, Health Plan is a wait and see, other than one or two other small wins we don't have too much to show for all that is happening to us. I don't call the NEA exposure a win yet, must wait for some results. We are losing big time to Obamas grand plan for this country. What has happened to us in only 9 mos. does not bode well for next 3 years or so. I also wait for the sweep clean to occur but I don't have
your confidence its going to happen in time for us to recover.

Why would anyone take any actor seriously, especially when they are espousing a political view. They are actors, aren't they? What qualifications do they have? Their lives revolve around make believe. The sad thing is these fragile, insecure individuals are merely puppets for the communist movement in this country. They really do not understand where this country is headed – and these puppets will be discarded as soon as our freedoms are completely taken away. By the way, when was the last time there was a congressional investigation regarding the salaries of actors? I would guess, many actors make more money for one movie than most CEOs make in an entire year.
